I personally agree. Handheld consoles are not so popular and some where a major flop. I owned a psp original & still own a 3000. I loved the original psp when it first came out. But, I can't say that I use it regular any more. I normally just use it when I'm going away and can't fit the laptop or generally can't connect to the internet.

But, Android and IOS apps have really launched. I don't know why. Personally I can't play one for more than 10 minutes. They bore the **** out of me. I only use apps which help me carry around a portable calculator or business databases. Other than that I only use it for calling and receiving messages.

I think consoles are going the same way as handheld consoles. Not because they are not entertaining, because don't get me wrong I love them. But, because of the price, paying on line and all that other stuff which makes it...not enjoyable for the average user.

Consoles will only be popular among hardcore gamers. People who own their own business and/or work 5-6 days a week just don't get enough time. I rarely play on the console any more and to think paying for a on-line subscription when I'm not going to be using it regular, just doesn't make sense to me when I have a few computers lying around.

Obviously, I'm a big fan of PC, I converted to PC a very long time ago, but not entirely. I still used the consoles regular and loved them. But, the next GEN doesn't appeal to me what so ever.

Sry, I wasn't aiming anything at you there. It would be a tough call between spam and just talkative for a lot of the posts in the small area of the forum I visit so doing the same over the whole forum must be a real pain.

...so I know they are doing a great job
+1

I never know if I should use the "Report to moderator" link for anything but obvious trolls, if everyone used it then I'd guess it would cause its own spam :/

That's a interesting way to look at it. But, without reporting and everyone thinking like that, the forum could just look a mess. But, I guess you are right that it would cause spam for the moderators. I myself, always report anything that I personally think is not needed/wrong section.
8083  Other / Meta / Re: Spamming to get the Hero status and get trust on: June 17, 2013, 04:37:32 PM
I guess we should just report the post if they contribute to the thread and just say a few words. So what's you're input on 'reserved' posts.
Should they be allowed? They are one word replies but a lot of people use it, and I guess it is actually very useful. Especially if you are the original thread poster.
8084  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How did 1 bitcoin sell for $10,000? on: June 17, 2013, 04:11:13 PM
I'm saying it was set-up. It doesn't make any sense at all. Maybe they have asked their friends & family to bid, because they know it will become popular and shared through forums like this.
MAYBE, even hit the news. Most likely will.
8085  Other / Off-topic / Re: Xbox One on: June 17, 2013, 04:07:07 PM
Microsoft will lose a lot, but that doesn't stop their 'loyal' fans coming back to them. Most people like to get the new gen consoles for status, or because their friends have it and are saying how awesome they are.
For people with half a brain will see that this console doesn't do any more than a PC does. Yet, you have added on stuff which you don't need and have to pay for on line subscriptions. With the PC, all you have to do is pay electricity bills and internet bills, which you would have to do with the Xbox/Ps4 anyway.

You can pick up a few cheap PC's which will run most modern games, for the exception of Battle field as that does take a lot of power if you want to run it on maximum settings. You can buy a controller if you really want to and use that instead of mouse & keyboard.

If you wanted to play locally with friends, tell them screw a Xbox/Ps4 and get a decent computer which they can come over yours and connect to you're local internet. Cheap & effective.
Doesn't take long to set-up either.

If you are going to get a console, then I WOULD recommend a PS4. That's if you want a dedicated gaming console and not a multimedia console.
The PS4 is a bit cheaper and will have faster bandwidth.
That being said, Xbox does have it's benefits. Such as the multimedia options. But, if you have a computer you have them anyway.
8086  Other / Meta / Re: Forbidding useless posts when user has a paid signature on: June 17, 2013, 03:59:25 PM
By useless I mean: '+1', 'yeah', 'good idea', etc
I don't condone useless posts but I don't think a tiny proportion of such posts can be tolerated
Except if you are displaying ads in your sig IMO, so the idea is to make this strictly forbidden: deletion of posts, then PM warning, then ban even if they are not spamming

It's a good idea. Maybe a little extra work for the staff of the forum, but I'm sure they won't mind. I think if they have given advise on something and summed it up in a few words and can't possibly go further in depth then that is fine.
But, I just saw a user which posted around 20 of the same one word replies. Saying "Yeah", "Awesome" and other NON useful posts.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=91631

this user just posts another user's post verbatim, or quotes them and adds "+1", "this", etc.

Wow, never seen so many posts stating the same thing. That is ridiculous. Good thing people check their history and use the search function. They'll soon see their 'posts' aren't legit and not to trust them.
I certainly wouldn't trust that user, doesn't show anything that contributes to the community.

Generally, I don't care if they have posted loads of replies. As long as they are interested and have something interesting to say, or give their personal opinion. BUt, replying 'this' for multiple threads is just....crazy.

A very good way to sell them Duff energy drinks & duff beer hats.
8089  Other / Meta / Re: Trolls on: June 17, 2013, 02:38:32 PM
It happens, many major companies have been found to post reviews about website claiming they are scamming or unreliable. It's a known fact that it works, and discourages potential buyers.

As much as I hate it, it's going to continue to happen.
8090  Economy / Gambling / Re: PrimeDice.com | The New Way to Roll | Lowest House Edge (1%) | Instant Betting on: June 17, 2013, 02:36:21 PM
I wonder what these guys claming to win so much bet on...

Agreed, most posts are coming from newly registered users who have posted very short submissions. some people who have claimed to win early on have not been online since they claimed they have won.
Why would they stop? I'm not saying the website doesn't pay, because it does. But, I don't believe that all these people have turned 200% and more from their original deposits.

There will be legit people, of course. But, at the moment it looks like a lot of these are just boosting the website up.
8091  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Phinnaeus Gage scammer tag request on: June 17, 2013, 02:30:46 PM
Here's a definition of scheme:

"a fraudulent scheme; swindle."

"to cheat; defraud."

Scam, is normally taking a benefit from another party, other than the seller. Promising something and not doing it without taking any money etc, is not a scam. Instead it's just breaking a promise.

8092  Economy / Services / Re: Get up to 0.20 BTC a month for your signature! on: June 17, 2013, 02:25:07 PM

8094  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Way to get round the 5 post limit... on: June 17, 2013, 01:39:32 PM
it's just very easy to miss any hint, that you have to post something and it's ONLY in this part of the forum.

I started from getting frustrated, because I couldn't post anything in that thread nor send any PM.

also, HELP section of this board about PM's or Posting doesn't contain any warnings about the way of newbies' system.

it definitely should.

There's a post in the sub-forum stating what newbies can and not do. They can send PM's after a certain amount of posts.
8095  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Way to get round the 5 post limit... on: June 17, 2013, 01:32:55 PM
I have said this time and time again. It's SO simple to get 5 posts. I do than that a day, some short and some long. Also, if you have something to contribute to the forums, then waiting 4 hours and being active is NOTHING, nothing at all. Literally, look at all the people who post regular and obviously love the site. They have a TON of online time. Time goes so fast.

perhaps some (+1) or (like) system? that would also show involvement and it would be nearly impossible for a bot to fake real person's opinions, especially if they would match with something in personal profile.

just messing around with the idea, it's not a clear solution

I believe this has been discussed many times before, but I think it would be a nice little feature, especially for people who are into receiving likes. Maybe give people the incentive for posting things. But, normally people saying thank you or +1 in the comments is enough
8096  Economy / Goods / Re: PRICE IS DOWN! Limited edition #IamSatoshi T-shirts. PRICE IS DOWN! on: June 17, 2013, 01:13:56 PM
I don't like them

How can't you like them? I like them, but I don't think they I'll be getting one because of the price and the shipping costs.

There was someone who posted in the 'project development' section that they were developing a third party solution, if that is what you're talking about.
