I argue for a concerted 'facing outwards' strategy. Contact Ordinary People
+2

A little PR work, maybe an annual hosted event, possibly some pseudo celeb promoters.
BUT that stuff is expensive and Un not at that level ... yet.

IMZ just showed you the target audience.

1. Friends, and Family.  "Invest $10 wait 6 months and see what happens" (and they'll probably hate us at first but love us in the end) ... so that's a Amway approach of marketing.

@ My Mention of Monacoin: it is Japanese. Maybe they don't know of BETTER coins.

2.  International friends.  More and more nations are going to come 'online' with crypto.  Let's have a network of reps that focus on 'non English' speaking nations.  If we are going to spend money promoting I suggest it might be smarter doing a seminar on "getting wealth in the bitcoin age" in Mongolia rather than London.

I know it sounds wild but if you get 100 of the influential class of a lesser know nation state hooked on UNO, they will sell it to others of like financial standing.  Traditional Western investor class is still skeptical.  But a promotional golf event at a minor country club in Dubai might bring $1 million in investment.

Marketing Plan
strategy: concerted 'facing outwards' from the existing crypto marketplace (say 80%)

target audience A: Friends, and Family (soft sells)
target audience B: Rich buggers in nonWestern nations.
-----------------------------------------
target audience C: known crypto marketplace

We still have 20% of the budgets/time to target the known crypto marketplace AND we are uniquely focused there too!
target audience : crypto collectors who want rare and cool 'physical' collectables. (discrete ways to hold value just like gold)

I have a question about growing a wider audience to automatically increase demand and thereby price and miners.

Has anyone, while on a crypto-exchange chat room, ever accepted free coins from someone promoting a new coin?

target audience D: the inner realm of crypto (I think I see some of you here already) but yes there ought be a special cookie jar for 'Heroes' just in case come next year they for some reason didn't pickup a few Uno already.

7784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE SLEEPERS : good Alt Coins going unnoticed on: August 14, 2014, 04:10:53 PM

Ltc quark and vert are my bet.

99.9% sure they all live to see another day.

Bearish on vert, base money is not solid yet, but the fan base is there and they own their niche.

LTC is in a sleeper phase.  And likely to hold #2 forever.  If forex players snub btc in favor of ltc ... it will pushup to 1btc:15ltc.  And we all know China is betting on LTC as their power tool in future moneymarketwarz.

deserves to be   1btc:10ltc

Quark everybody loves to hate quark.  But it has paid its dues and has the speed to make a dent in the consumer, buy a coffee with it, market.  And this market is yet to open.

7786  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [OSC] opensource coin -- research / notes :: OPEN markets on: August 14, 2014, 03:28:59 PM
OPEN markets

https://openbazaar.org/
OpenBazaar is an open source project to create a decentralized network for commerce online—using Bitcoin—that has no fees and cannot be censored.  Put simply, it’s the baby of eBay and BitTorrent.

https://github.com/OpenBazaar/OpenBazaar

Right now, online commerce means using centralized services. eBay, Amazon, and other big companies have restrictive policies and charge fees for listing and selling goods. They only accept forms of payment that cost both buyers and sellers money, such as credit cards or PayPal. They require personal information, which can lead to it being stolen or even sold to others for advertising or worse. Buyers and sellers aren’t always free to exchange goods and services with each other, as companies and governments censor entire categories of trade.

I see that developer is online everyday, but why didn't we see any post by him since august 4th?

BCTDev did alot of community building to get this project off the ground.  And from what I saw, from the launch and giveaways, was a constant dedication to a coin with very little prospect of instant rewards.  Just a good coin idea with good specs, and the hope of doing good in the name of bitcointalk.org  Smiley

So he's quiet for a few days ... and ...

the community self organizes a massive vote rally

the community self organizes another vote rally this time target MINTpal

I think that is awesome Cool

This coin operates like a decentralized crypto ought.

The group can get things done (and win).

It is not dependent on any one individual.

BCT is demonstrating what a "free and fair distro" can do ... build an organic vital community.

I know we are just on the upstart, but the value and intent of this coin is community based.

So if we fail victim to the "Almight Dev = Fate" mentality this exercise fails.

In the community forum the dev should be silent.  Because the dev has a priority of making the network run.  It is no easy job.

We build the rest.

7790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [OSC] opensource coin -- research / notes / The Seed Factory Project on: August 13, 2014, 10:20:43 AM
project website: http://www.seed-factory.org/
Wikibook: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Seed_Factories

A Seed Factory is a starter kit of digitally controlled machines, which can expand in three ways to a larger and more capable factory:

* Replication - Making copies of its own parts
* Diversification - Making parts for new machines not in the starter set
* Scaling - Making parts for larger versions of the machines

A sufficiently expanded factory can produce new seeds, thus starting the growth process over at a new location.  Ideally, a Seed Factory would be able to copy 100% of it's parts and be 100% automated.  Right now that is not practical, so we are aiming at a high percentage of both, supplemented with outside parts and labor where needed.

The Seed Factory Project has the goal of demonstrating this type of self-expanding production.

Devs,

Can anything be done to drop the subsidy and max supply?  That am stop the freefall.  There's too much inflation in these older coins.  Most new coins now have less than 21 million max supply and their prices are consistently way higher than these older coins.  Hype and pumps aside.
+1

This coin comes from a different time, failed to really take, BUT still has survived.

Most the xxxMillion coins from last year coins are still below count 100 Million for some time.  So there is an awkward zone between 30Million to 3Billion that few coins are at.  Hence, difficult for the market to judge.  They get treated like +Billion coins price wise.

So slowing the "freefall" is a very good idea.  Bonus, extended coin spec longevity without dropping the max, just it won't arrive for decades.

I am very conservative about 'changing the specs' but there is no harm to investors that I see.

And the community is small so consensus would be easy to access.

Make it +2

Anyone object?

Rome didn't get built in a day ... BCT is just starting out, and it has potential to be a valuable coin.  It takes time and lots of work.

1. BCT 'the coin' specific purpose is to become the charity coin of bitcoin, backed by the community that launched Bitcoin.

2. The goal of this thread is to become the "one to read" because it will be the index page to find out what is up in the cryptoland of BCT.org

the forum (within the forum) about the forum [promoting and growing BCT in between]

It's possible and BCT will make the planet just a little bit better.

If a coin wallet has nothing to fix, an active dev is not absolutely necessary

Just like Bitcoin, you don't see the BTC devs holding an official thread here to build it up. WE as the community can build up this TALK coin on our own

that's the spirit!

But I suggest that BCC stay the name.
1. ECC, ZCC, BCC
2. There's not much talk here  Grin and you want to be called 'TALK'?
3. BCC can be related to BTC and/or BC ... but how?   Wink

Moon https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=389403.0

Can't go lower - can only go up - can't "die" idiots say this all the time , Crypto can't "Die" - someone will restructure it, if they do it will see a bump - i'm predicting it passes Doge - its got a great name , the brand could go far.

------------

I like moon.  But it has 300+ Billion and what's the network hash?  It maybe a dead coin because there is no way to price it in BTC and now no way in LTC.  It can survive in a doge market, but what doge market.  Maybe a ahead of its day.

I like the idea of giving 100 moons to everyone on the planet.
7798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE SLEEPERS : good Alt Coins going unnoticed on: August 12, 2014, 09:37:17 PM
We all bitch'd about instamining last year.  Quark was instamined (in 6 months).

Now you POW all the blocks in 24hrs everybody is okay with that.

After 1 year
if the markets haven't already sorted out 'premine/rapidmine/ninja/hidden' issues
then ??

Coins like BTB or Mega had 'issues' before
& they are price adjusted, and factored in by now.

So I discount those 'issues'

Quark I think is due another boom cycle, because of this. (cuz it's not a asic-lite)  Fall will see a re-up on Sr. coins.

MYR same (issue too many too quick) but we've all known that long enough.
and the market has yet to re-value the multi-algo.  SFF is waking it back up to the idea.

MYR etc. offers more than all others (because it is all the other networks).  boo-yah!

DEM, TEK, CAP, HOBO all safe bets.

cgb ... shut you mouth ... it sucks+FUD+FUD secretly saving to buy more

MINT... shut you mouth ... it sucks+FUD+FUD secretly saving to buy more

(the pure pos are misunderstood by the market ... they are not currency like ltc, drk, quark, or peer...they are credit unions)

Mint will be the first to go solidly north again.
Because name brand and first to move.

RDD, BC, XC ... too young to know the floor value.  If you can steal mint a 1-2satos take it.
