781  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL doesn't return money for preorder (ASIC minirig - 30.000$)! on: July 13, 2012, 04:53:23 PM
I just want to receive 30.000$ + shipping cost i paid in BTC. Conversion $ -> BTC will be calculated by BFL. Will it be the rate on the date of refund confirmation or not it's up to them.

The rate at the date of purchase is not relevant. It's not an expense report... it's a full refund:

If you paid them $30,000...then you should get $30,000 refunded.
If you paid them 5,000 BTC...then you should get 5,000 BTC refunded.
If you paid them 10,000 clam shells... then you should get 10,000 clam shells refunded.
....etc....

Sorry dude, that's not how it works in the real world.

some of us have interesting things that might be of use but we don't want to pass it out to people who are not lawyers representing us.

Ah yes, the primal need to have a scapegoat. It's weird how the poor people with the fewest lost coins are the loudest and most assholish in general, whereas the ones that have lost the most (such as Roger) are at least somewhat civil and polite.
you may be right, but that would be because if you don't have much too loose you can afford to be straight out. On the other hand if you do have much too loose you gonna be careful on what to say.
excacly! i have already given up on my 40 btc, but it would be nice to have them back(i don't really have alot of money)

@rjk: fuck you, that 40 btc is more then i have in my bank account, im a poor student, asshole! Roger would survive his losses.

I'm not saying whether anyone should be angry (they have every right to be), but I don't think some aspects are being approached correctly or maturely.

QED

You are making stupid assumptions.

They should probably consider themselves lucky no one has spent some of their own coin on "collections services"
Why not collect from the hacker?

It works fine for me, but the entire forum is going extremely slow right now; feels like extreme database load.
788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 13, 2012, 03:05:20 PM
And now the forum is absolutely crawling to a standstill. Are we being slashdotted or something? Or is some basement dwelling fuckup using a DDoS against an innocent messenger?
789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 13, 2012, 02:23:10 PM
Guys.
This is LastPass:

LastPass free version supports Google Authenticator:

It also supports grid authentication:

For only $12 PER YEAR, it also supports Yubikeys:

How to add a Yubikey to LastPass (won't work with a MtGox Yubikey):

How to authenticate to LastPass with a Yubikey:

Longer passwords are not more secure if they are stored anywhere!

This is MtGox:

MtGox supports Google Authenticator:

They also support Yubikey, via a custom-branded device:

I think you get the idea. It's FUCKING SIMPLE to enable one or all of these options!

I have one other beef: MtGox needs to offer an option to require telephone confirmation of large withdrawals. This can be automated. If the withdrawal is unusual (40+k BTC or USD or whatever), DON'T FUCKING APPROVE IT INSTANTLY!
790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoinica MtGox account compromised on: July 13, 2012, 01:49:48 PM
dude.. inside job? you guys are fucking retarded.

he explained exactly what happened.

go loosen your tinfoil hats

If I remember correctly it's one of your colaborators that is the prime suspect of being the BitcoinicaHacker.
Was it also BitVPS that was hosting Patrick's email server?

No inside job indeed...

Huh?

No we dont host patricks email

Our collaborator? please explain
You must have missed where psy accused Ageis of being the Bitcoinica hacker.

oooo I've always wanted some to play with, but I don't know where I'd use them now. Sad
What's the difference between the Gordos and the GE bricks, and how old are they?
792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll - What is your ultimate expectation for bitcoin? on: July 13, 2012, 04:00:04 AM
I wonder why some people think it's gonna be a big failure...
Too many problems for too long. I will still watch but I won't engage again unless many things change.

Which are?

Do your own research. Start with a simple search going back to MyBitcoin. Search for Peter Lambert. Look up Bitcoinica’s history. Do a few bad exchanges. Maybe I’ve just had some bad luck. Your mileage may vary but I’m disappointed. I just lost another 50 btc and that’s the end for me personally.
How did you lose another 50? Perhaps you are just risk-prone.

Dude, it's Jeremy. He isn't gonna skate with your dough, although it sucks that it's held hostage just as the price is moving around.

thank you I'm glad my work is finally gaining traction in this community. I appreciate your contribution, but I ask that in the future all donations be made in amounts evenly divisible by 420 Satoshis, for my convenience and yours
I'm probably going to regret this, but what do you call a unit of 420 Satoshis?
A "weed", probably.

795  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Putting your money where Pirate's mouth is. on: July 13, 2012, 03:54:59 AM
Some people (Who? Pirate himself? SR? Jimmy Hoffa?) pay a premium for vanilla coins. That's the theory.

It seems that freshly mined coins are often used to pay the interest payments.  For instance this interest payment uses 4 different freshly mined 47.5 BTC inputs at address 1PSf86KnLuzM7Ris5kDhTEZwooR3p2iyfV.  I don't see why fresh coins would be paid out as interest to lenders if this is indeed a laundering operation.

Are these coins mined by GPUMAX?  Can anyone tell?
Well apparently GPUMAX has an internal pool of its own to handle load balancing, and since Pirateat40 has said that all the funds go into and come out of the same wallet, that seems to be the explanation as far as I can tell.

<begin baseless speculation>
Hmm. SQL injection caused massive database fuckup?
Perhaps the email server was re-compromised!
Maria is being a bitch and freezing everyone's funds with a douchenozzle lawsuit?
Someone essential to the process died suddenly, perhaps!
<end baseless speculation>

Whaddya think?

MJ is known to cause or exacerbate the effects of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychosis and therefore should be approached extremely carefully. That is all.

End the fucking shit, right here, organofcorti.

I have a theory though, if we lived in cali, I bet small amounts of cannabis would benefit, but by permission of a doctor and parent "my sister".

If the doctor think it would not help, then so be it. If it would, then so be it.

/end of your fucking rant in this thread.
If you bothered to carefully read what he said, all he said was that AndrewBUD is not a doctor and should not be prescribing things, and that you just need to ask a real doctor.

What works for one person DOES NOT always work for another.
800  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoins with cash at a retail store on: July 13, 2012, 01:39:49 AM
How does it work to buy bitcoin at Wall-mart? Does any Wall-mart is offering this service?
You buy USD credit via zipzap/moneygram which is orchestrated by Bitinstant. They then credit your mtgox account and you can buy bitcoins.

I don't understand a damn thing of what you said. What's the point with walmart?
The moneygram terminal is located inside walmart (and other locations such as CVS as well). Go to http://bitinstant.com and read all the details for more info.
