@everyone. On the Broncos vs. the Lions, what is everyone's prediction? Do you reckon can win against the spread on -4.5? This might be Detroit's chance to start another small winning streak hehehehe. The Broncos offense is not very good and Russell Wilson might not be very trustworthy. Their run defense is also not very reliable.

The game will begin in 1 hour.

Broncos are improving every week so it should be a close game as the Lions D has been going down the drain and Goff has been looking bad under pressue again. But the Lions run game is still great and Broncos D vs the run is weak.

I wouldn't put money on this game.

I came to the same conclusion as Hueristic, it looked intriguing for about 1.8 seconds.

Both teams have been close in their final scores most of the time so any given week can go either way.  And since it's an interconference game, there's even more uncertainty.  I wouldn't touch that except for some props, maybe.

I think the best bet of the weekend is the Seahawks ML.

This is the first time I wanted BCT to have a down vote option. Smiley

Lol

I do not trust Brock Purdy yet in a big game against someone like Patrick Mahomes.

I don't have the same concern, he's not Jimmy Garoppolo.  So far the only playoff game he's lost was due to tearing a ligament in his elbow.

Obviously the QB has a huge impact on the game, but the more telling thing is that the niners are the currently the most balanced team in football, second in most points scored and first in least points allowed.  They are over 40 points ahead of the next team in terms of net points.  That gives me confidence going into the playoffs, but there's still lots of football to play.

This is the year for niners, right? Smiley

Interesting developments in the FF league this weekend; The big battle at the top of the standings was between the Barbarians and the Coiners, leaving the Coiners to fend off the remaining field in a battle for 4th place.  And it appears that ChiBitCTy lives to fight another day.  Nothing will be official until tonight, of course, but it looks like both the Bowlers and TwentiWan are dropping to 6-6, and ChiBitCTy improves to 6-6.

If this holds, that means no challenger for the fourth playoff spot will be able to finish with a record better than 9-6, and that means the Potatoes will clinch a spot in the playoffs.  The Barbarians and the Brewers each need one more win to clinch.  For the Coiners to clinch they'll need two wins, or one win and one loss for all the 6-6 teams.

Technically, the teams that finish 5-7 after this week still have a hope, but it's slim.

Speaking of adjustments, I think its kind of interesting that there seems to be a slight correlation between a team's number of moves and their league standing. Look at the Potatoes and the Barbarians, league leaders & 32 moves apiece... perhaps there's something to be said for that as a strategy.

I think it's given them an edge the last few weeks with bye weeks, not to mention injuries.  Those mangers you mentioned also seem pretty good at finding the unexpected gem from week to week.

Speaking of injuries; my brother has two tickets to Sunday's game against the Bucs, but then the fucker got covid.  He's questionable until game day.  I'm still going, who wants to come with if he's ruled out?  Cheesy

I grew up in Nor Cal as well. It is amazing how people there think they have the best of everything when it comes to food. It’s actually quite laughable when you get older and start traveling.

We have some amazing food in area, but much of the authentic ethnic foods are concentrated is in the south Bay Area.  I've spent some time in places like Fremont, Santa Clara, San Jose...  Each little pocket of those cities has a different ethnic flare, with many authentic restaurants.  Some of the best Thai food I've had was, ironically, not in Thailand but in Freemont California.  In general you're right that people here are can be pretty obtuse about some ethnic foods.

I’ve never been to Tijuana, but I live close enough that I’m sure the food isn’t incredibly different. My tacos are irrefutably “white people” tacos though.

I find it different enough from San Diego, lol.  If you care to make a day trip out of it, check out Las Ahumaderas, Tacos El Frank, and La Cevicheria.

In my opinion, when it comes to food nothing beats Mexican or Italian. They’re in their own class. Everyone else is just fighting for second tier.

Well... I'm partial to Middle Eastern food, but you know, I'm biased.  Unfortunately though, good Middle Eastern food is nearly impossible to find in NorCal (outside of mom's house of course.)  There are delis here and their that get one or two things right, but across the board most of it is shit.

Other than that, I can't disagree with you about Mexican and Italian foods, they're staples in my diet.  I don't even think of them in terms of ethnic food anymore, not like other types.  I don't have to be in the mood for a fajita plate, or a plate of spaghetti and a meatball.  It helps that I'm surrounded by great restaurants of both types, and I'm not a bad cook myself.

If you've never been to Tijuana you have no idea how awesome tacos can be.

I grew up in the northern California Bay Area, were we have many Mexican immigrants (most from the states of Jalisco and Michoacán) so I grew up with above average Mexican food readily available.  However, I just got back from visiting Tijuana for the first time, and I can't believe how awesome the food is there.  Tacos of all types, carne asada, adobada, cabeza, lingua, camarones, and that's just the tacos.  The ceviche was also the most amazing I've ever tasted.

I also tried this rare delicacy which is usually only served with a shot of quality mescal:

Tacos in Mexico are most commonly served on soft tortillas, I'll take some photos from one of the local vendor in NorCal that serve them the authentic way.

In Tijuana a typical taco is about 30 to 35 Pesos, ($1.75 to @2.00 USD)

Looks Like I'm facing the  Ayahuasca Brewers this week!

Was hoping to be tied coming into this game but maybe we'll be tied after it! Cheesy

Still reeling through bye weeks and my QB hasn't been preforming the same as he had early in the season.  I'm just about through my bye weeks for my bigger performers, so I'm hoping to get back to form soon.  Yahoo's projections are predicting I'll finish 10-5, but they've been disrespecting me all season.  We'll see how it goes.  Finishing over .500 would be an massive improvement over last year, and I'm only one win away from that.

Honestly, I've gotten really bored with the forum's drama.  It's come down to bickering between overly thin-skinned members who can't refrain from retaliating against each other.

I was summoned to the previous thread about Ratimov a couple of times, but I had no interest reading through it, and less in responding.  How I long for the days of Bitcointalk trolls that could handle themselves in a trollfest.  The days of Tecshare, nullius, and cryptohunter seem to be long gone.  Good times, good times.

I think this is a sign that London is getting closer and closer to having their own NFL team (mark my words Europe will have a team in 10-15 years tops.

With the current structure of Conferences and Divisions adding teams would only happen if they could add 8 teams all at once and go to 18-game regular season.  I imagine there have been talks to do just that, and adding teams from other countries would only make sense.  Canada, Mexico, England, and Germany would all make good markets for the NFL in my opinion.

Man I had a rough week when it comes to fantasy and betting.  I think I won maybe 1 of my 4 bets, and they were all close games. Especially since I put the most money on last nights game which I was sure that the Chargers would win.  I also lost two fantasy leagues by less than 1 point.  Not 1 league, freaking 2 leagues.  I just have the worst health ever when it comes to fantasy players.

That was a pretty darn close match for you and I this week, going into the week I was certain I would suffer my first loss.  GG, by the way.  I seriously can't believe my luck this year, I was quite disappointed with my draft, and had little hope at the start of the season.  This is by far the best start to a FF season I've had in my life.  I've been lucky on injuries so far, and that's really the biggest factor.
98  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: October 16, 2023, 11:08:30 PM
Any chance of Dallas winning?

Yeah, I expect them to come out on top, but he Chargers can be a tough opponent.  Honestly I wouldn't put much money on either team.  I was thinking of putting a small bet on some props but I haven't had time to really look at the options yet.
99  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Help for the paranoid - how to transfer from Ledger to Seedsigner? on: October 16, 2023, 08:57:06 PM
I don't think the thing that DireWolf mentioned ("I would make sure you're able to restore the same wallet from the seed phrase before you send any bitcoin") really applies, right, since in SeedSigner I'm ALWAYS restoring the wallet from the seed phrase (Seed QR). It's not stored on the device.

It does apply!  If you made a mistake when writing down the seed on paper this will be the only way that you'll find out about it.  You only have to restore the seed once to confirm that no mistake was made.
100  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Help for the paranoid - how to transfer from Ledger to Seedsigner? on: October 13, 2023, 08:37:27 PM
I would make sure you're able to restore the same wallet from the seed phrase before you send any bitcoin.  After you load your xpub in Sparrow, clear the seed from the seedsigner, then use your seed phrase to restore the wallet in seed signer.  If you have the same set of addresses that you see in the Sparrow wallet, you're good to go.  If not, start the process from scratch.

Once you're confident that you can restore the wallet, there's no need to send the bitcoin in small batches.  If the pucker factor is too extreme for you, send a few sats first to make sure they show up in Sparrow, but after the first transaction completes successfully you can send the whole wad.
