501  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 4.4.3 - GPG signature on: May 16, 2023, 09:21:44 PM
Electrum binary files are being signed by three different developers as of the last year or so.  Check this guide for more information:
[GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide]

The developers' GPG signing keys can be found here: https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/tree/master/pubkeys

The three developers signing current releases are Thomas Voegtlin (ThomasV,) Steven Oeste (Emzy,) and SomberNight/ghost43.

First off, are you asking for a loan?  I don't see anything in your wall of text resembling a loan request, an amount requested, an interest rate offered, or a repayment date.  What is it you hope to accomplish by posting in this section?

The business will operate as a peer-to-peer (P2P) platform that connects buyers and sellers of Bitcoin in Harare, Zimbabwe.
~
The business can leverage the existing infrastructure and regulation of the South African Bitcoin market to source Bitcoin at competitive prices and low fees.
~

Do you know what "peer-to-peer" means?  Because, most of us here do.  So, if it's a P2P exchange, why do you need your own supply of bitcoin?

But having to decline 9/10 requests by some jokers that just want a handout and run is a waste of your time.

But, that would reduce the quantity of KYC documents he could harvest by 90 percent.   Wink

Oh for fuck's sake, please don't ever mention me and your testicles in the same post ever again.  That's just repulsive, and quite queer!  Besides which, pesky losers, liars, and scammers are not my type.  Maybe try flirting with Cryptocius, you two are like peas in a pod.

507  Economy / Reputation / Re: Can someone remove DireWolfM14 from this Marketplace? on: May 07, 2023, 02:49:16 PM
The lending section works a lot, from time to time I go there, out of curiosity more than anything else, and I see several active threads where several members, that DireWolfM14 compiled in a thread, offer loans to the community and those who take them in almost all cases return them precisely because those who lend take precautions.

That list hasn't been updated in a while, so the rates may be inaccurate, and many of those lenders haven't been active for a while.  Darkstar_'s, Shasan's, and Zazarb's threads remain very active.  There are other members who are active on the forum, but their threads haven't been getting much traffic.

By the way DireWolfM14, I don't see you on the list of lenders but it sounds to me that at least for a while you were a lender, is that right?

Yeah, there was a time, but I had a couple large loans defaulted, and covid made me really busy IRL so I stopped offering loans for a while.  The thread is still there, but I locked it.  I may return to it at some time, but these days I see people mostly wanting to borrow stable alts which I don't care to own or hodl for...  reasons.  I still lend to a select few folks who ask privately or post their own loan requests in the lending board.

508  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Passport Official Thread on: May 07, 2023, 01:57:11 AM
No plans at this time to have an official firmware for current devices

That's too bad.  I really love my Batch 2, and I am very much a bitcoin maximalist, but I do end up holding several thousands of dollars worth of monero from time to time.  I promise, that will be only altcoin I ever ask you to implement!

All these posts were posted rapid-fire, and all were deleted immediately (by a moderator, I presume.)

What you think I waited for 4 years on this forum so that I can scam somoene for a 0.01 loan ?

4 years?  Your account was registered less than two years ago.  Do you have another, older account?

You originally asked for BTC0.015, not 0.01.  Then you requested from BTC0.015 to BTC0.02.  The evidence is all in my post above, and archived.  Now I see you've reduced the amount requested to 0.005, what happened to needing this loan?  I thought it wasn't about farming trust.

And, why is it you've yet to mention how much you intend to pay back?

And just check your untrusted feedback, you think all those members were just scammers?

You're welcome to prove me wrong.

ETA: Speaking of archives, what in tarnation is going on here: https://ninjastic.space/topic/5451743

Were you about to give some random newbie BTC0.02 worth of altcoins, while asking for a BTC0.015 loan here?  Really?  The newbie posted his address before the thread got nuked (and he got banned for begging) but I don't see any activity on the address.  Why didn't you follow through?
511  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Fee Settings on: May 06, 2023, 05:51:13 PM
Mempool is completely full right now, and the last 8 blocks have confirmed with an average fee of 125 sats/vByte.  If you're not in a hurry, 20 to 30 sats might get it done in a day or two, 60 to 80 in a few hours.  I just had a transaction confirm in only two blocks at 90 sats.

512  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can I convert my regular segwit wallet to 2FA type wallet on: May 06, 2023, 05:40:09 PM
~
Thank you. Changing wallet is a bit hassle for me. I already input all my seed phrase on different devices and on my physical seed phrase back up. Is there a way to imposed a security feature on Electrum that works like authenticator? I'm thinking a scenario that my laptop might get hacked so I want to prevent hacker to brute force my wallet through the use of authenticator something like that.

Since you've used your current wallet as a hot wallet, there's really no way to make more secure than it is right now.  The only thing you can do is create a more secure wallet, and keep it more secure in perpetuity.  If you have regular payments to an old wallet that you don't want to change, you can monitor it until the balance is more than you care to risk, and move it to a more secure wallet.  Still more hassle, but the added security is worth it.

Take note that there's a third-party service fee for using Electrum's 2fa wallet.
It'll be automatically added as an extra output to your first transaction, then in every "N" number of transactions. (varies depending on your selection).

For more information, read TrustedCoin's FAQ (Electrum's 2fa service provider): trustedcoin.com/#/faq#fees
Yay. Hard passed on this.

The fees for Electrum's 2FA provider aren't horrible, but in my opinion the money would be better spent on a hardware wallet.  Also, the same thing can be done for free with a 2 of 2 multi-sig wallet.  With each wallet on a separate device, such as one on a computer, another on a phone, you get the same level of security, and added privacy.  A hardware wallet would still be more secure, however.
513  Other / Meta / Re: Restrict newbies from posting in the lending board? on: May 06, 2023, 04:46:30 PM

I like Zilon's suggestion, but yeah, the mods are up to their elbows already, I don't think asking to pile on any more reports is the right way to handle it.  If the mods are expected to automatically delete any newbie's request for an unsecured loan, then it just shouldn't be allowed in the first place.

Which give me an idea: @theymos, is there a way to add a splash page for low-ranked accounts before they can make a post in certain boards?  Maybe just a little warning that low-ranked accounts asking for unsecured loans can be damaging to the account's health.  A link to the sticky board discussing collateral would also be helpful.  Maybe that would be enough to dissuade the legit newbies from doing something dumb, and any that get through have been sufficiently warned.

Have you ever seen a newbie Lender offer loans to others?

There have been a few over the years that I've been here and active in the lending board.  Most have tapered off their activity, but there is one recent newbie lender who's currently active.  To me it looks like he's harvesting other people's KYC docs, but the jury is still out on that one.
514  Economy / Reputation / Re: Can someone remove DireWolfM14 from this Marketplace? on: May 06, 2023, 04:30:45 PM
He acuses all members and junior members of scam, before they even get to make 1 trade.

Please leave the trading to the lender and lendee.

I dont think anyone here needs you DIREWOLFM14 To baby sit them.

Do they?

Not a self-moderated thread this time?  Big mistake.

But here's some advice anyway; this thread is off-topic in the lending board, move it to the Reputation board instead.  There's a link down in the lower left to move the thread.

I did in fact ask questions.  The entire exchange is quoted below.  Your reaction is exactly how a scammer would behave.

Im not sure if this works...
If someone would be willing to lend me any tradeable coin
Dogecoin fine also or anything like that.

Timeframe: 2 weeks
Colateral: account
Ammount: small 0.015 equivalent or similar

Anyone who can help is wellcome to contact me.
Id like to do a good deal, and establish some trust feedback with good members.

What does "small 0.015 equivalent or similar" mean? It's either 0.015 or it isn't, there's nothing small or large about a number without context.  In which currency is the "small 0.015" being requested?  USD, Doge, BTC?

And, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but your account is worthless.

Lol, did you just admit you're goal is to farm trusted feedback?  Why, so you can build up for a larger loan and exit scam?

My goal is not to farm it , i need a loan for real.
An ammount around 0.015 would suffice. Depending on the lenders prefrance, maybe someone is comfortable giving 0.01 or 0.02 im down with both.

Well those are some pretty wild accusations, should have made this a self modarated topic !!!!  Grin

No Im not farming a scam strategy. Although It will be good to get some trust feedback here.

@Drivewfcker12345
Please dont spam my thread with profanity, those reviews on your profile are 100% accurate, you are very nosy in others bussines.

Adding another would-be scammer who's too stupid for words, swiftxi.  Fist he posts this vague request, but since he didn't like the questions I asked (and possibly the fact that informed him his account is worthless,) he closed that thread and created a self-moderated loan request.  It's not like that's a red flag or anything.

518  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bisq - Exchange, Decentralized. on: May 06, 2023, 12:58:48 AM
BISQ announced earlier today that they're soon going to implement the lightning network[1]. Maybe Bitcoin Ordinals is what we needed to push services to adopt LN.

[1] https://twitter.com/bisq_network/status/1654444075112865795

That would be pretty cool.  I know they have the intent to implement lightning functions in BisqV2, but I wasn't sure about Bisq1.  I don't think Bisq1 would work for lightning to fiat due to the multi-sig "escrow" function, but lightning to on-chain would still be nice.
519  Other / Meta / Re: Restrict newbies from posting in the lending board? on: May 05, 2023, 04:42:12 PM
I've been mentioned several times in this thread, but I had other things to deal with so here's my late reply.

Damn, that's the worst type of thing to have to deal with.  I hope he's feeling better soon.

I don't see limiting newbies' ability to post in the lending board as having a big affect on the forum.
It's not big, but it's also another step on a slippery slope. Every time I see someone argue for more restrictions, I appreciate theymos' hands-off approach more.

Believe me when I say that freedom is very important to me as well, which is why I love this forum so much.  In general, I don't want to restrict newbies either, but there are other rules and restrictions that are largely in place to improve the quality of the forum, which is the intent of my suggestion.

Quote
If a newbie comes here only to request a loan and finds that he's incapable of posting a loan request, one of two things are likely to happen: He'll contribute to the forum until he is capable of posting his loan request, or he'll hit the road and never come back.
I fear a third option: they'll start posting anything they can until they qualify to use the Lending board.

That's kind of a non-issue, really.  If they go about spamming the forum with low value posts, they aren't likely to rank up anyway.  Case in point is user 16xypjnxlrew.  After months of harassing lenders and spamming the lending board, he come to the conclusion that only people who've earned merit will qualify for a non-collateral loan.  So, he ventured out into other areas of the forum with the intent of "contributing," but to this day hasn't earned a single merit.  This is what the merit system is meant to prevent, and it's been working so far.

Probably would just be easier to

1) Leave them some negative feedback and encourage others to do the same.
2) Start a flag and encourage others to support it.
3) Add them to your ignore list
4) ~ in your trust list.

And then move on. Is it 100% proper use of flags and feedback. Perhaps not, but who cares.

This is the current status quo, and it's not great.  Like LoyceV mentioned, it's essentially spamming the trust system with a bunch of red-tagged newbie accounts that are likely to be abandoned, a new one created, and the process just starts all over again.
