81  Economy / Economics / Re: You Can Now Keep Your Bitcoins In A Bank on: October 29, 2018, 08:18:28 AM
This is a good development though as it shows that the fiat and the crypto world can really work together to achieve financial breakthrough and with one not seeing the other as a threat. The concern for me is the bank taking this giant step without having a solid backing of the government whether it will choose to adopt crypto or not. Should in case that government of the country then go all negative for crypto, every amount saved in crypto becomes confiscated with no one to be held liable.
82  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's your plan for the next bull-bear cycle? on: October 24, 2018, 08:50:38 AM
What's your plan for holding, selling, trading, spending for the next few years now that we will likely be starting a new bull-bear cycle in the next few months?

I think the next peak will be between $100k and $200k and likely occur in 2020, so my plan is to probably sell most of my Bitcoin hopefully averaging just over $100k. Will probably start selling around $80k just to make sure I get some good profits in case the run doesn't go as high as I think. Probably will just keeping 1 Bitcoin for like the long long term (with a plan to spend it on the LN over many years in the 2020s and 2030s). The next bull run should get to my own "moon" prices in which it makes sense to take substantial profits.

Most of what I sell in the coming bull run will go to set myself up financially in the less volatile stock market for the future (hopefully the coming stock market crash & recession will be timed perfectly so the market is still pretty low as Bitcoin is booming so I can take profits and then move into a stock market that is significantly down - in fact the stock market crash could bolster the bitcoin boom as they will likely line up pretty well the next two years). But I will keep some of those profits around to try to buy back at least one Bitcoin in the following crash to sell again during the following bull cycle.

So for me its basically sell most of my Bitcoin, keep a little for years to come to eventually spend when Bitcoin is in use as a currency, and use some profits to play the long term trade game and buy back some on the following crash in a few years.

This your level of optimism is something that I cannot imagine. Its really rare to see. While its nice to be optimistic about the situation of things, I think its also important to be weary of the reality that surrounds such proposition. Currently we have been grappling with the $6000+ for months now and there is no sign that we are moving forward on that. To then now start to imagine a price of $100K in 2 years is not only farfetched but also means avoiding the reality.
83  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bakkt launching on Dec12, is it will start a bull run? on: October 23, 2018, 03:29:31 PM

Here we go again. Another service provider ready to start giving false hope by raising expectation that would not be fulfilled. I wonder the volume of future contract that this platform wants to make available that would be significant enough to make much impact to push for the beginning of a bull run as being speculated. Expect the normal gradual increase in price that is being witnessed with its accompanied volatility, the only news that could mean a huge push is the ETF approval which is not even certain.
84  Economy / Economics / Re: Data is the new oil energy source on: October 23, 2018, 01:18:51 PM
More and more people are realizing how powerful data is and need to be protected. Data is the new oil, and companies like FB and amazon are the new petrodollar oil champions in the world. Fortunately, blockchain provides a reliable way to break these islands of data and create a world in which data can be liberated by sharing data while still maintaining the same ledger or its original ownership, allowing creators to be rewarded.

Data is the sum total of our existence at this time. The world has evolved that at this time, anyone who has the most data controls the others. Its has become something so pronounced that what every company goes for now is data as that is what will determine whether they will survive into the future or they will whittle away before the next decade. However, the major issue is the security of the data which have been compromised in no small ways but the blockchain has come with a solution to that providing a transparent immutable way to store data.
85  Economy / Economics / Re: Four Global Banks Involved In Yet Another Money Laundering Scheme on: October 23, 2018, 10:17:12 AM
From the beginning of time, banks have been a wheel in the development of the economy and at the same time they have been the cog in the wheel of development especially as it relates to money laundering. All over the world there have been rules and regulation to guides the affairs of banks and how they conducts their businesses but because of the people involved are the same people that would come up with the policies that would be needed and also would be the one strategizing ways to break such rule because their friends are involved and their own personal cuts have been guaranteed. If it is evidenced that they are complicit, they should be punished adequately.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indonesia, the second largest crypto adopter without legality. on: October 23, 2018, 08:02:49 AM
based on the results of a survey from TNS that collaborated with one of the LUNO crypto exchanges, they concluded that 63% of Indonesian people knew the crypto world.

they realize that crypto is a solution to create a better economy. this percentage defeats Malaysia, France, Italy and Romania.

So, Indonesia is in second place after South Africa with a percentage of 70%.

of 63% of the Indonesian population, they have more bitcoin. Their reason is that bitcoin is the safest and most profitable investment product.

The report of the survey is really not surprising based on the population that was sampled. If the population sampled is based on those who have affinity with crypto, I am sure their response would be this. I actually would be interested in specific variables of the exercise. Looking at reports like this, it tend to start attracting attention where it is least needed as authorities tend to begin crack down the moment they cannot come up with regulations that generate revenue and at the same time reduce the criminal activities that crypto is used for.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does it even matter if governments and banks accept cryptocurrency? on: October 22, 2018, 09:07:25 PM
There is buzz about the prospective of governments and banks accepting crypto or creating their own for its mass acceptance.

I don't think this is even worth acknowledging, as all of the present and future innovations are going to come from the private sector. Governments are just responsible for damage control, do a God-awful job for the most part and have never achieved true democracy.

In the past, people relied on governments and banks not because they're "governments" or "banks," but because they provided security.

Once AI, blockchain, and improved means to use crypto provide even better security than governments and banks ever could, whatever they do will be irrelevant.

It does matter for several reasons. One, the narrative would change drastically. What would have taken maybe 10 years turnround period would take less than one year. For close to a decade, its still becoming so hard to separate crypto successfully from crime and other vices that it has been attached with but with government coming on board with acceptance, before one year, this would have been a thing of the past. Another is the massive adoption that would follow. With government and its access to machineries when deployed would go along way in ensuring that the adoption gets to the innermost part of the citizens.
88  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin scam artist arrested in Thailand on: October 22, 2018, 06:30:49 PM
One of the people who allegedly defrauded a Finnish investor of $24 Million worth of Bitcoin (BTC), has recently been detained in Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok on charges of conspiracy to defraud and money laundering. Has anyone been following this at all? I would be interested to hear a legal perspective, as these charges aren't generally associated with bitcoin

$24 million is just small compared to what happened in Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines. There's a lot of these cases that happened recently and in the past. People should really be aware on what bitcoin is because even the banks in our country are strict and they not let you open an account if they heard that your source of income is from crypto.

There is nothing like small here. Anytime a fraud is committed and crypto is involved, it does not only deny the owner of the fund her some reason to live, it also bring disrepute to the entire crypto industry and justify the stand of those who have always maintained that crypto especially bitcoin is used mainly by criminal to carry out their activities. I support this move to a large extent because it gradually setting a standard that you cannot think because the chances of you being tracked is low compared to banking transactions should mean a clean cheque to go ahead in duping people of their hard earned resources.
89  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A banking app helped me beat my addiction on: October 19, 2018, 01:40:13 PM
One of the ways to fight gambling addiction is admitting that there is a problem for a start. Its until when that happen no matter the method recommended, it will still not be effective. The app only came in handy when the individual concerned is already making frantic effort to quit and when there is a relapse, it came as a way to ensure that control is there to exercise some restraint. With constant conscious effort to quit gambling, it will surely materialise.
90  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling with normal games on: October 19, 2018, 11:58:57 AM
There are a lot of chances that people can gamble, like when you try a drinking game, where you watch a movie, and you are going to drink when that character do a specific thing or something like that. I have done that, and it's entertaining but it's not that common to do anymore

I have a lot of multiplayer games in my PS4, like Tekken, UFC, Injustice, etc. My friends and I don't go to competitions, but we make our own, we start betting stuff or sometimes just money with whoever who wins the bracket.

Has anyone made a simple competition with friends and won a lot of money? Or something out of the ordinary, instead of playing in the casino but still having the chance to earn money. Share your thoughts.

Even before I have come to know about structured form of gambling that we know today, I have known gambling to be part of our daily ife and from something so simple. In the past, growing up, we have bet on who will get home first, bet on who will finish his food first, bet on whether it will rain or not to the extent of whether we will be given money by a visitor or not. Recently, I have seen myself and colleagues bet on whether an information to be sought from an external party would be confirm our initial position or not.

Even the life we live is a gambling on its own.
91  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lost $350k / 54 BTC gambling, need help :( on: October 19, 2018, 08:09:56 AM
The reason why you are still convinced that gambling is the way to redeem your losses is because the money you used is yours. You have lost what some people will not see in their entire life time of work in other places of the world. My advice, you need to start looking for other ways of multiplying your investment which in this case you have identified what you could have used with it. Try to move your funds into a wallet you won't have access to or you consider a fixed investment that would not be subject to huge volatility while the remaining can be gambled away.
92  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Never say die to Bitcoin on: October 19, 2018, 07:19:24 AM
Quit Bitcoin and sell at your BTC at cheap today and regret later. The news coming from the governments are planned with the aim of creating FUD in potential investors because the governments are afraid of the power of decentralization. However, this power of decentralization cannot be stopped because it has already gained roots on the market as more and more people become familiar with the concepts and benefits of Bitcoin and the entire crypto.

I hold the believe that everyone is perfectly entitled to his own opinion and there is nothing anyone can do about it. The war against decentralisation is one that will be renewed everyday until when its too late for it to be won. People will fall back others will join in along the way and that is the beauty of a dynamic market that can live till the future because if everyone decide to hold, we will only be damaging the market itself which originally exist because of the presence of both buyers and sellers.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Warranty for our potential customers.| Bibit Bot on: October 17, 2018, 01:16:19 PM
Don't you think in all honesty that this should be moved to the Service Announcement section of the forum because this does not relate to anything that have to legal issues rather its the promotion of certain service which is about your bet and the huge amount of unlimited possibilities that it tends to bring to the crypto community.

You Bot as being announced of course comes with a lot of potentials but I don't think its perfect. What is the guarantee that you are giving should a loss arose as result of relying on the options given by the bot?
94  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Good day for arbitraging on: October 17, 2018, 01:06:16 PM
Browsing through blockfolio, the wide contrast in prices of bitcoin on different exchanges presents a huge opportunity arbitrage traders to make profits.

From Coinbase to bitfinex and Bittrex  bitcoin's value is spread widely. And it seems to all be down to the implosion of tether.

One needs to look deeply before concluding there is an arbitrage opportunity because it might seem so but that is not what is practicable when one is involved. For one reason, the price shown on coinmarket or blockfolio is most times not the sell price when you get to the exchange as this price is expected to drop. Also, the price is subject to volatility and another thing is the price quoted could be as a result of technical glitch. The fees to pay and the timing difference is another factor. Putting all of these together means understanding the end of the exercise before delving into such activity.
95  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Positive or negative promotion strengthens crypto market? on: October 17, 2018, 12:38:55 PM
While others might believe that both positive and negative publicity is good for crypto currency and its effect on price, promotions that is needed now is the positive one and it should also be a consistent one because when you look at the effect that positive publicity make on the price, its not as effective as what the negative one do so for them to measure out, the positive one needs to be more than the negative counterpart especially at this period of time where there is little or no great news around the corner or expecting to break in the nearest future.

96  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading outside of crypto? on: October 17, 2018, 12:05:27 PM
Hello I didn't know anything about trading until I first started trading monero on poloniex when it was like $5. Now I've learned a lot just from trading and mining crypto but my only experience is with crypto.

So I guess this is backwards but now I would like to try trading or investing outside of crypto....is that stocks?...see I have no clue what everything is called. Are there trading sites like bittrex etc?

what is the differences between a crypto exchange and a "stock exchange" that trades in dollars? Do you have to provide ID? Are they easier to fund in dollars?

Is there anything like a Trade Satoshi where I can just practice with small amounts?

Thanks for any information

If its your dream to trade in the stock market then you need to do more in getting information as it relates to your locality because the prerequisites to trade in that market differs from country to country. For example where I am, to trade on the stock market requires that one is a member of a professional body and licensed to carry such a trade. This is put in place in other to ensure that only qualified people are operating in the market and that they are expected to behave in certain ways otherwise their licenses can be revoked.

The stock market is very much different from the crypto market in terms of first entry. While $5 dollars can grant you entry in the crypto space, there is no room for that in the stock market.
97  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: the right time to trade, or wait until the market returns to normal? on: October 17, 2018, 11:35:11 AM
for now the market price is very difficult for me to predict, because it is difficult for me to be able to analyze prices, and lately it is difficult for me to get a profit, exactly what I get is defeat, what is your solution to be able to deal with the market price situation which is very difficult for me to predict, can a trader who is proficient in trading can share his experience in trading for me?

To wait for the right time would mean waiting till forever which might not come. Its true that the market at this point is faced with another increased uncertainty but in the real sense, I have never seen any time that uncertainty has eluded the crypto market even the time of the all high period that happened in the late 2017. The point is, for a trader, every time is the right time depending on the objectives that needs to be met and that should be the goal not be distracted with the current happenings. For me, so far I can afford it and ready for whatever the outcome would be, I am sure going in for it.
98  Economy / Marketplace / Re: What kind of growth would last? Quick growth or slow and steady growth? on: October 17, 2018, 11:29:41 AM
I would say all of the growth are equally essential depending on the timing. While a slow growth could be the most preferred, it does not make it the most palatable for example in this era of slow growth and backtracking being witnessed in the past couple of week, a surge in price won't do any bad rather it will reinvigorate the dying interest that people have in crypto market at this time in which if build upon, could thereafter be a slow and gradual growth.
99  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin scam artist arrested in Thailand on: October 16, 2018, 09:15:30 PM

I expect to see the link to the news for the same of those who want to follow up on the case and even give you the answer you requested for but now, you have denied those people the chance. I think its a good development that people are brought to account for their activities online especially when it involves illegal activities to the detriment of other people and denial of their resources to also send a message to others who feels that is the best route to make riches that anonymity of crypto can be unveiled in extreme situations.
100  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Shortage of positions in bitcoin signature campaigns for good posters? on: October 16, 2018, 03:32:39 PM
Basically, the ICO market has been the source of major campaigns on the forum in the past and that market has really been faced with challenges in recent times to the extent that its being turned to a joke. The market has been infiltrated by majority of people who are bent of turning it as an avenue to make quick bucks forgetting the damage that they are doing to the entire market. And for others like us, we have contributed to it by making it our slogan that ICOs is scam. This has in no small way affects that fortune and its not expected to reduce in the nearest future. Post and contribute to the forum that is the slogan now.
