1041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bittrex Pumpers on: June 26, 2017, 07:21:17 PM
Tell me, isnt this against the law? I mean You're pumping some shitcoin, the ppl will think "holy shit! Its the next ethereum!" they will invest, price will go x-times more, and then your group will start to sell. You will gain but thousands of ppl will loose they money. This is smth similiar to stock manipulation. You should end up in jail.

This is something that usually happens why people needs to be adequately informed before making a decision as to which coin to invest in because that alt coin that is showing positive percentage increase might be getting to a peak for selling for those who made it get that high and actions like this will definitely affect new entrants into the market which might make them not come back until they get access to such information and the cycle continues.
1042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why exchanges have almost the same price? on: June 26, 2017, 01:37:24 PM
I trade on poloniex and bittrex and I've noticed that prices are very similar and not far off.
Is this just coincidental? or do they share prices? or that traders behave the same?

The reason is very simple because majority of the exchange sites have common set of people as in my own case where I have registered in about five exchange sites so my attitude can be predicted in all these sites so by so doing the price will be similar by the time aggregation is done by all participants and another reason which has been mentioned is the issue of arbitrage which most of this exchange sites are trying to discourage in other to buy from one and sell on the other.
1043  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's happening with crypto markets? on: June 26, 2017, 12:40:56 PM
I have only recently become interested in the Cryptocurrency markets and potential for growth, and for this reason do not have great insight on the history of Bitcoin, Ethereum and all other altcoins, and their price swings.  I am baffled by the serious downturn the markets have taken in the last few days and am at a loss of words to explain it.  Does anyone know what might be causing the heavy selling that is taking place?  Is this mostly caused by Ethereum-holders (I'm thinking of the recent successful multimillion ICOs) cashing out?  Are investors unwinding positions because, perhaps, they fear the upcoming July Segwit2 Bitcoin activation may fail?

Let's discuss theories that might explain the down-swing!

The issue about swings of the market is not something that is new to people who have been here long enough because sometimes the market just take a regressive move without anybody being able to give an explanation rather than guessing which is what we all engage in. The market is currently at low ebb with the expectation that it will recover in due time when there are some certainties about future prospects showing forth.
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why altcoin price down during this week? What are the reason? on: June 26, 2017, 07:01:14 AM
Why altcoin price down during this week? What are the reason? Huh Huh Huh

The simple answer to that is understanding the basic reason why the price of bitcoin crashing because all cryptocurrencies are linked one way or the other and no matter the way we try to separate them, boom or depression happen to all of them at the same time depending on how dependent the individual crypto is to bitcoin.
1045  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trust invest fund? on: June 25, 2017, 08:57:59 PM
What criteria do you have for coin investment funds?

If you offered to invest, what do you pay attention to? What will be important for you? What are the reliability criteria?

Rather than jumping the gun in understanding all this, why don't you just take your time in reading through the various threads on the forum which I am sure will be more expository and more enlightening to answer your curiosity. People have different things that attract them to a project. For me, its mostly the team involved if the team have been proven to be full of integrity, then I am good with such projects otherwise, nothing can make me stay.
1046  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BUY high sell low ? on: June 25, 2017, 08:35:55 PM
This is exactly what happened to me when I first started my journey into trading that I just ended up losing because of making uninformed decision without knowing the right time to either buy or sell because mist exchange will give statistics of increasing coins based on volume and at that point I am entering could be the time to dump which I ended up losing by selling in other to minimize my losses. The bone of contention is having the right information and losses will be minimized.
1047  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What determines if a coin goes up or down in price? on: June 25, 2017, 07:53:47 PM
I heard that if there is news that certain places will start using a certain currency, then it will increase in value.  Obviously that sounds very simple.  But that is true right?

What exactly causes a coin to go up or go down in value?  If everyone starts selling the coin, will the coin go down in value?  Im curious but what things trigger coin prices to go up or down?

The real cause of the increase in price might be linked to such news but not totally because the news does not take effect automatically and even when the news break sometimes we see reverse in the price and that can be likened to what is being faced now. For me, I think there are some artificial forces that still influence price through various collaborations as we have it in alts, there is a possibility its happening to bitcoin as well.

1049  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Civic worth investing in? on: June 25, 2017, 04:48:11 PM
In as much as I don't have information about the way its being issued and controlled with the proposed potentials embedded in the project, my concern is on the issue of the amount of tokens issued. 1 Billion for crying out loud. That to me is too much for a start which I feel it might not be sustainable based on the forces of demand and supply which might not hold for long.
1050  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is BTC Hitting 3000$ today ? on: June 25, 2017, 09:07:24 AM
I want to know if Bitcoin will go up to 3000$ today or still have problems in passing the gate?

And what is the best decision for now?

It seems you didn't even check the current price as at the time the thread was created because if you had then you wold know the possibility of that happening has just got slimmer in the past couple of hours and even currently still struggling to get to $2700 mark but that does not mean it cannot happen and that should better be backed with reasons and fact unlike mere speculations and expressions of opinion based on subjective feelings.
1051  Economy / Economics / Re: Two Italian Zombie Banks Just Went Under on: June 25, 2017, 08:24:28 AM
...

Just read this item over at ZH:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-06-24/two-italian-zombie-banks-toppled-friday-night#comment-9772388

The banks are: Veneto Banca and Banca Popolare di Vicenza (both in NE Italy)

We are on vacation in Turin (in NW Italy, not too far from the region of the two failed banks).  Just today I pulled 250 euros from stronger Italian bank Intesa-San Paolo (who will take over the two zombies).  Tomorrow 250 more...  Funds from my US bank account.

I saw a gold coin for sale today (an Austrian 20 florins) for 225 euros, not a bad price.

There is a BTM here in Turin that I want to check out ASAP, I'm trying to figure out how to get there (many things in Italy are more complicated than you would expect).

Tourists in Italy take note!
Bank don't just go under without notifications if any bank should do that,  then it only point to one thing which is that the Central Bank has failed the people. Over here the central bank carries out regular audit of banks and make sure they are adequately capitalised on a regular basis with those one sinking bailed out as well and if necessary, taken over in other to protect investors funds and that's how it should be. So also is the report made public that anyone following the news can know the right time to pull out his/her resources from such bank.
1052  Economy / Economics / Re: Will third world country hold their foreign reserve in bitcoin against Dollar? on: June 24, 2017, 08:01:48 PM
If countries will go against the United States which is tantamount to dropping their foreign reserves in dollars and adopting another  currency which could either be bitcoin or any other form, then they should be ready for some serious issues because most of these countries prepares their national budget based on the expected grants to be received from the united states, they tackle the issue if polio, malaria, flu based on support from the United States among other support
1053  Economy / Economics / Re: Proof USD fiat is a bubble? 23 Countries Abandoning US Dollar on: June 24, 2017, 07:14:17 PM
This is bound to happen whether now or later if not for any country but for Russia and most of this decisions are more political rather than economical because if a country does not keep his foreign currency in dollars then all those sanctions of freezing assets of any country does not work which in other way guarantee the independence of the country in question and also limits the political influence the UNited states have on such country.
1054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Get out of ethereum while you still can! on: June 21, 2017, 10:07:10 PM
i would hate to see all the suicides from the crash of eth. spare yourself and get out now.

eth is nothing but a house of cards with other houses of cards built on top of it.

in other words, eth is a scam which enables other scams. it won't end well...

I am sure a lot of people would have said the same thing about bitcoin that you are a fan of and as at today, they still hold their belief that bitcoin is a scam or a bubble that would soon burst without any remedy. All noises like this does not even change the mind of the people who have made resolution to keep the faith in ETH irrespective the challenges it might be going through which is even not a new thing to happen to any coin.
1055  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BEAR TRAP WARNING on: June 21, 2017, 09:27:48 PM
Hi,

Ethereum has been dropping with VERY LIGHT VOLUME. It looks like it is a bear trap. Besides, there are some fools around the forum talking crap against Ethereum. Don't have weak hands. I would not sell unless there is something very 'game changing' going on

I don't think anyone is contesting your right to hold or sell with and to those who didn't see it the way you are viewing it don't also deserves to be insulted by you just because they don't subscribe to your point of understanding. Every form of investment comes with its own risk with which people express belief in and hope for the best. So, if you are sticking to your position make sure you stick to it  to the end and not be distracted by anybody.
1056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Years of Bitcoin, short version on: June 21, 2017, 06:26:26 PM
Trying to get a grasp of history and making some predictions. Improvements are welcome! I always thought that price might stabilize over time but I'm not so sure any more.. Though I don't see any reasons yet for Bitcoin to stagnate.

2008: Concept phase
2009: Launch
2010: Experimenting
2011: Started to grow
2012: Acknowledged by the world, promotion
2013: Acceptance by small companies, turbulence, politics, super hype, venture investment boom
2014: Crash, hacking of exchanges, acceptance by large companies, venture investment boom v.2.0
2015: Price recovery, merchant acceptance boom, acceptance by some governments
2016: World wide acceptance, network expanding and huge rise in mining power, ATM boom, scaling war & Bitcoin politics
2017: Cryptocurrencies boom full spectrum, Japan accepting Bitcoin as legal way of money, other important acceptance, (scaling compromise and solution, potential forking turbulence)
2018: Serious cryptocurrencies development and altcoins finding their purpose, large network scaling, big fresh investors, price boom v.2.0
2019: Serious push for mainstream adoption in some countries, mixture of cryptocurrencies and interoperability
2020: Some Bitcoin and banking (FIAT) systems cooperation (banking long-term survival plan), serious world wide regulation and legalization attempt, Bitcoin banks (for legally lending Bitcoins for interest)

Looking at this historical analysis even sends me a message on how far we have gone and how far there is still need to go. This clearly just give a succinct journey so far and also the various challenges that has been surmounted at any of those periods mentioned above. However, the battle is not over until I see bitcoin becoming the financial breakthrough that the whole world will come to appreciate more than what we have now.
1057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pacquiao VS Horn (Boxing) on: June 21, 2017, 04:11:43 PM
I will be going all in for Pacquiao this time because after the last fight with Mayweather, I have just developed likeness for the guy and I can just support the guy with all my coins. I quite agree that he is old and should even retire but with the last loss I don't expect anyone to retire based on that outing. Maybe after this winning for him thanks to our support then he can retire well.
1058  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: For sports bettors on: June 21, 2017, 02:17:00 PM
I went for yes because most times its what I do but I do it with care and only the games I have knowledge about especially the teams involved in the case of football. In that instance, its either I win both or lose one definitely not the two and in some other situations, I have made bets on about 5 games where I won 4 out of it. It comes with its risks but also the reward could be encouraging depending on the odds involved.
1059  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoins and Bankers on: June 21, 2017, 10:57:35 AM
Hello All,

I'm new to crypto but not new to the banking/gov game.

What are you thoughts on the bankers/gov potentially controlling Bitcoin behind the scenes putting on a show oh how they are concerned about it?

They can print the fiat to buy bitcoins.
Its the electronic money/world currency they are so thirsty for.
The NSA has supposedly a back door to all our devices.

I think if bitcoin is the new banker currency it will explode higher as 7.5 billion people vs 21 million bitcoins means $$$$ to the early holders.
If Bitcoin is the alternative to the bankers/gov then it will explode higher as well due to the high percentage of people who want to be free from them.

Anyone who has attempted to not use the dollar Ghadaffi (gold Dinar) - Saddam (oil for Euros)  have met a swift end.

Why are they not stopping (possible jail threats) it when they have shown they will go to extreme measures to stop competition.

Either way I see it going higher i'm just trying to get my head around why it has not been stopped.

Thoughts?

Its good to assume what you have there but the logic behind it is what I am trying to understand because its only the central banks that have the legal backing to print currencies with a lot of regulations and scrutiny on how the amount printed is eventually utilised couple with the adverse economic effect its going to have on the economy when there is excess liquidity in the economy. Aside that, it will mean the government is just trying to make some people rich and these people are random set of people because by buying massive as you alluded means they are pushing the price so high that people they buy from get to be super rich any time soon.
1060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CrowdSale Live]🌟🌟🌟🌟 NVO Decentralized Exchange | Multi Wallet 🌟🌟🌟🌟 on: June 21, 2017, 09:50:48 AM
An article about the ICO:

https://hacked.com/ico-analysis-nvo/

There's one crucial error that I found in this analysis (so far)

Quote
The token will be called NVOT (NVO Token) and will apparently have a fixed price. This doesn’t, of course, make it untradeable via other exchanges, which could give it varying prices and some volatility regardless of any efforts.

NVOT will trade at whatever the market decides, NVOS will be stable at $0.99. Unless I just really didn't grasp the concept properly.

Who is going to guarantee that NVOS will be stable at $0.99?
Do you think that NVO owners/developers would start bying NVOS when the price goes under 0.99 USD?
I`m still confused about a lot of things regarding this project and most of the posts here sound like japanese to me. Grin

I understand the way you view this because in an open market there is no way price can be fixed without intervention of the external party which in this case is the developers. My concern to this is that will there be a particular exchange where this will be done and aside that how long will the support will be for the token in case market forces are swinging in both ways?
