801  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin goes down = alts go down, Bitcoin goes up = alts go down on: November 13, 2014, 09:49:09 PM

Interesting fact but you would have made way more money holding bitcoins than uno and not all bitcoins mined go to exchanges.
Bitcoin is a far superior coin than any other altcoin that are just lottery tickets at best.

i think uno will be around for a much longer time. Since i am holding it longterm i don't worry so much since demand at this point will always be greater than inflation so i would anticipate it to keep slowly rising like it did for the last 6 months.
Bitcoin is just first mover and better in PR, but not superior in its properties to hold value (10% inflation). It's quite volatile because of that inflation. I do hold bitcoin too, of course but smaller cap coins make potentially more profit.
How many hundred million USD would btc need to double in value?
Smaller cap coins need less new money to rise. A good portfolio has small cap and large cap coins alike in it imo.
The art in this is to avoid shitcoins and overpriced (hyped) coins.

Keep it in the 8's, now, K?

 Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

should be working. I think most who can't handle the 8 should be out  Wink

buywall on 73 is epic

You just described UNO - that's great!

charly asked what's special about it.
haha
I see. He wanted to know QCN

Special about QCN is its very, very low marketcap and still active community and running chain. If it doesn't die now it'll survive and make good bank Wink
It's not as rare as uno but still has a good reward-shedule. I am not putting a lot of money in it but for a little gamble, why not? I think it's under value compared with the rest of the market.

Don't let yourself be too distracted by that  Cheesy
18.4 million coins, 50% will be emitted in 6 years. They are 6 months old, so lots of coins yet to come, whereas Un has largely made it through the emission phase. I wish them well, but I don't see them as very rare, or comparable in inflation to Un for probably the next six years. I also like mining with cheap asics; Cpu mining just ticks me off. Smiley

quite right. Maybe i should hold off for another 3 or so years  Cheesy
Probably just the bitcoin pump got me and i thought i was smart for buying low cap coins  Cheesy

This pump and dump in bitcoin is pretty epic on okcoin

804  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin goes down = alts go down, Bitcoin goes up = alts go down on: November 13, 2014, 06:41:35 PM
To make money with alt-coins you need :
-to create an altcoin and get people excited by it
-buy/mine an altcoin early and be lucky/skilled enough to pick the one that will soar in price
-scam
-trade the altcoins markets and be lucky/skilles enough

But from a long-term or even one year perspective you are probably better off with Bitcoin than any other coins

again, doesn't apply to uno. You were loosing $$$ while holding btc last year. Uno is the only coin of all the coins (including bitcoin) that did not loose you money for holding last year. That's not hype, that's fact. Look at the charts. While other coins were loosing up to 99,9% Uno had its alltime low around 1.60$ for a coin. Today it's at around 3.50$ and still cheap from that angle.
15 new coins minted per day only. Needs only 3.6btc new money a month to hold that value

here the numbers of some other coins:

Looking at the other large cap coins
BTC in new investment needed per month at current price
Dark            > 230
Feathercoin > 245
bitmark    > 316
Namecoin     > 522
Peercoin     > 741
DogeCoin     > 850
LTC            > 8784

And bitcoin ... $38,430,000 of new investment is needed just to equalize the coin inflation.

bitcoin is such an epic pump and dump right now. Just glad i did not sell any uno for that.  Roll Eyes

Look at okcoin. They pumped it and now they dump it. Stamp is to follow.
807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: November 13, 2014, 04:58:15 PM
What's special about it?

-it can hold value   Cool (low inflation/rising by design/rare)
-fair coin (no bad surprises)
-healthy network / solid blockchain (fast transactions and sync too, wallet  doesn't need lots of recources, good coding)
-good community of longterm supporters (coin 1 year old. Older than most and doing better than many older ones, essentially a winner)
-in-house trading bullion
-very cool brand
-low volatility - best coin for merchants
-marketleader in its main field of cryptocommodities (coin made especially to accomodate investors, focus on preservation of value)

soon: techsupport

(among a whole lot of other things)

i think the whole picture assembled from many little parts is what makes it really special. The killer feature: "store of wealth"

If you're not at least holding a few you are doing crypto wrong Wink
808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: November 13, 2014, 02:55:22 PM
hey guys, QCN (quazarcoin) - check that one out. I am accumulating that. Maybe you guys like that one too.  Wink It's very cheap right now.
809  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin goes down = alts go down, Bitcoin goes up = alts go down on: November 13, 2014, 02:02:51 PM
uno is pretty resistant to that because most is held by longtermers who don't give a fuck for 20% swings in btc. Most alts are pretty oversold already from last summmer. If bitcoin would be going to 2k$ those would be making good bank too. If bitcoin goes up, i buy alts from those that sell for btc. I say 'thanks a lot' to those.

812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DeM]UPDATE! - Deutsche eMark - DEM - cryptocoin SHA256 POS/POW on: November 12, 2014, 02:09:14 PM
It's not a price question.
Bitcoin have an enormous community and have already passed the door of the real world acceptance.
BTC have a lot of other kind of problems (early  miners, pool owner who dump BTC, Gox Crash, China/Russian Ban etc etc etc....)

Don't compare DEM with BTC please  Wink

I hope DEM can return to the original value, because i have A LOT of DEM  Wink

dem had the problem of being the only coin people were able to withdraw from coinex after they went belly up so everyone traded for dem and dumped at cryptsy. Maybe that explains a lot too. People call coins dead without doing any research. Not writing an email to anybody asking about things or checking around. They just click profile of the OP, look when that was logged in last time and if that's more than 4 weeks ago they assume the coin is dead which it isn't in most cases. So it's really nobodies fault if you thought the coin is dead based on incomplete information and zero research. I knew it wasn't dead because i walked an extra mile to find out what the deal was. Some coins are more than just a thread on btctalk.  Wink
813  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: November 12, 2014, 08:40:01 AM

@ Community: I had cause to be checkin' out on Bitcointalk a coin 'up the charts' from us -- over three times the market cap.  But there were only a dozen posts dated this month, and the community is in conflict. Can we spell the word 'attrition'?

m

if gains don't happen immediately people tend to run away on to the next bandwagon. This behaviour fails on a greater scale of course. Most people around here are quite young and impatient. Uno community is one of the more solid, active and positive ones. Also higher average age than most other coin. I think it has to do with the coin, too. Uno is pretty simple and doesn't start to sweat over so called 'innovation' because it doesn't compete on that level so much.
Being a fair longterm coin which it is gives it a more solid community aswell. Uno is not a flavour-of-the-week-coin Wink

Got to say also: most other coins are suffering from heavy inflation which makes bearmarkets extremely painful. Attrition happens in those situations.

Which deserted, highly innovative and likely inflationary flavour-of-the-week-coin have you been at?  Wink

(wanted to buy VTC today but figured it is still too high!)

DEM goes bananas. Very nice  Grin

Little reminder, please go back in this thread a few pages and you'll find a lot of people insisting on it would be dead and abandoned. You find these negative people everywhere. Don't listen to them because they don't know. Many coins have been killed by the negative nay-sayers in that way (they talk it dead and people follow). Happy DEM is a resilient coin.
Bildzeitung coming next Wink

Make it go mainstream! It certainly can!

Good devteam, great work.
816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: November 12, 2014, 06:13:44 AM

It is possible that Auroracoin was 'designed to fail' like you said, and that this project was commissioned by people scared of the change that cryptos can bring and sabotaged from the start. Because the developer chose to stay anonymous then there is no way to deny this accusation. But it is also the case that this is still a project that other people can build on, so long as there are people in Iceland willing to devote their time and lend their names to a movement in order to revitalize this project.

why designed to fail? How it played out is exactly what i anticipated from day one - i did not anticipate people giving up on it, but it was clear from the launch that this airdrop would cause massive decrease in price and the speculative bubble in the beginning was madness of course. Everyone with half a brain was able to see that clear as day. People seem not to think.

Now what about AUR? Let it rot or what?
What about the airdrop? Will that be going on until the year 2020 or what?
Take the heads out of your asses and stop the airdrop and then build this coin up to a top 10 coin again. Nothing more easy than that. I count on you to make me filthy rich Wink

Just stop the sellpressure from the free coins and it'll turn out quite well.

if dev does not continue on the coin there will be a community takeover and new dev, correct?

Because of the advanced technology, the dev will not release the source code unless a "qualified person" comes forward.

oh, not even open source? Ok, i already bought too much in that case. Good luck with this.

IXcoin wallet does not seem to like the wallet.dat (which may well be integrally corrupted, ill keep trying)

have you tried opening the wallet.dat with an editor? IXC-wallets are normally not encrypted so the privatekey could be there in plain text maybe?
