OMG Edgar!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe how happy I am for you!! The thought of losing 3.6 tons was too much for me to fully comprehend; so glad you don't have to think of it any more!
Tonight you should buy a really nice bottle of scotch or champagne or whatever your favorite indulgence is, and spend the evening away from computers

i recommend strong buysupport in the low 7s When i come back tomorrow and that's there i am going to reinforce it. Walk proud, uno, no need to worry Actually everybody had enough time to panicsell, possibly not even the weak support in the higher 7s gets dumped in. BW is in Ferguson btw. Not a bad roadtrip for my taste. Build some suppport, i am going to make it stronger tomorrow.

Thanks! Updated. Unobtanium Reward = 0.03125 per 3 min. Reward = 0.01041 per 1 min. Reward = 15 per day Reward = about 450 per month of new UNOs @ 0.00777777 UNO needs about 3.6 BTC of new investment per month ($1500/month) *something makes me think that the new investors and old investors are willing to invest more than 0.11 btc/dayLooking at the other large cap coins BTC in new investment needed per month at current priceDark > 230 Feathercoin > 245 bitmark > 316 Namecoin > 522 Peercoin > 741 DogeCoin > 850 LTC > 8784 And bitcoin ... $38,430,000 of new investment is needed just to equalize the coin inflation.

yeah, good point, now that it is recovered we can all feel more comfortable giving you some shit (all in good spirit of course) for not having at least 2 copies of your encrypted wallet on thumb drives and clouds. let us all never forget the near annihilation of edgar's vault and BACK THAT SHIT UP!!!! I've got paper wallets (2 copies of each) in plastic bags in a safe. am thinking I should get one of those bitkey things that FK got because it seems so much less susceptible to damage. One thing that concerns me is that my paper wallets are inkjet printed, but i don't have a laser printer and dont think i should print private keys on public printers. So I'm actually considering keeping more kilos strictly digital. My hard drive failed last week also and I had 100kg of UNO in a hot wallet, and recovering it was a piece of cake since i have backups of my wallet (with a wicked strong password). I am thinking that my safe could be stolen, but an encrypted wallet in various places could always be recovered. I welcome everyone's thoughts and discussion on backups and cold storage

Exactly right, when you look at things that way it seems like a no brainer if you are looking to keep your money in a location other than a bank. Could the whole shit house go up in flames, of course it could, but that can be said about any shit house. Much less likely to happen here. I am really glad i went with uno. I was resistant at first, wtf, rarity is the only thing it has going, or so i thought. What do they say about hindsight?

'a total stranger from the internet'
Not IndiaMikeZulu, Learminer!
Australia’s (entire?) Unobtanium community* was in Ian’s kitchen yesterday morning, drinking coffee and discussing Edgar’s hardrive and GAW and Genesis and how I can trade effectively on Bittrex.
I urge you all to get the phone number of someone in your nation, and talk on the phone. If you can arrange a meetup, do so!
Mark (IndiaMikeZulu), Australia
*Except Uno the Emu Chick. His dad won’t let him go to town.

very short comment about the BW-story (don't want to push the other thread)
Makes me very comfortable in uno to see these things:
-the community is not easily bullied -the community is pretty mature compared to the surroundings -market is not very suceptible to baseless fud
I have been reading around and found an IRC transcript. All the fud is based on that (i don't link it to not make this thing longer than needs be). It was in fact very hostile athmosphere in there and bryce was (as he already stated) a real dick in that conversation. But all in all the whole thing had no substance. Just Bryce chatting in the backroom with some teenagers. His fault was imo to be in that IRC in the first place. Very good uno didn't care about those animosities since we have nothing to do with them. I think simply not caring about all the drama in other coins is the best option. Bryce taking days or weeks off to get his head straight again is a good thing. I hope he comes back refreshed and more relaxed and i also do hope he learned from this not to spend so much time chatting with everyone who is hostile towards him. Let the coding do the speaking.
I am happy we are done with the topic.
@BN awsome extraction and presentation of the numbers.

quick update - promised the fam a day out so....
IXcoin wallet does not seem to like the wallet.dat (which may well be integrally corrupted, ill keep trying) Multiple fresh downloads = the same result. (the application has requested Runtime to shutdown in an unusual way {paraphasing}
It essentially shuts down, WITH the 30k but unable to transfer or even sync fully
UNO - all good, i pulled 1 UNO out to make sure it didnt have the same issue as IXC does. for some reason chainz reported that as 10 but it was only uno...
LTC - 3 wks behind. (i'll be off out once its synched) All Good!
i DO deserve some shit for not being better prepared for disaster! all i can say in my defense is;
i WAS on my way to putting ALL my coins into these wallets, and THEN backing them up.
this is/was and will remain to be stupid.
AS SOON AS YOU HAVE YOUR COINS IN A WALLET - BACK THAT WALLET.DAT UP!! copy - paste - done! (and save yourself some grey hairs)
While there IS life saving software, it does NOT see to be all encompassing wrt saving everything.
not that im an external praying man - i think im now indebted to most mainstream deities as well as some netherworldly types..
AND - i will shortly be contacting the author of RecoverMyFiles with a measly contribution. They may be interested/able to tweak things in favour of wallet.dats which may well become a big business as we mature.
Finally for today - Id be interested in the BW thread/s if Balu is willing to PM/post the details and/or links.
We dont need any potentially harmful influences among us, but theyre 'coming' so we should be prepared/fore-armed with as much info as we can digest.

have you tried opening the wallet.dat with an editor? IXC-wallets are normally not encrypted so the privatekey could be there in plain text maybe?
