My advice would be. Don't waste energy and time by mining with GTX 280. You will get cca 60 Mhs at cost of 200+ watts and those 60Mhs, will mine you .. nothing Smiley.

You should better try mining N-scrypt coins and sell them for bitcoins. Or check some autoswitching pools like, coinsolver, coinshift, waffepool ...

this is my first time doing this and i don't know what almost any of that means. also i do not know that much about computers. do you have any suggestions on what i should get to start mining and explain what that means

If you want to mine bitcoins directly, should obtain some ASIC miner (it's just standalone device) , even cheap ASCI miner has much better ratio price/Mhs/consumption.
These links can help you make a picture how weak in mining your GPU is.
Scrypt Mining_hardware_comparison
Sha-256 Mining_hardware_comparison

If you still want to use your the GPU, only way is scrypt and N-srypt coins.
As you are beginner, autoswitching pool is good choice, because they take care of selling and you will get btc directly to your wallet. But don't expect much.

check http://coinsolver.com/getting-started.php, there is easy quide how to set up.

Example Scrypt mining> GTX 280 gives you about 60 Khs , current rate on coinsolver is 0.00049 BTC/Mhs/Day .... Thus you will get  0.0000294 BTC daily.

824  Other / Archival / Re: Best bitcoin faucets? on: August 08, 2014, 06:31:27 PM
Im not in a position to buy BTC off an exchange at the moment, so what faucets do you guys use?

I have few tips.
Luckycheckin and btcrock, but you have to wait till 26th August for payout.
Also coinHD has few quite well paid videos, and in free lotto on click2dad you can win 2mBTC.

How much are luckycheckin and btcrock paying?

check their threads

826  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: ZobrZobr's outstanding creative contest with the 3 BTC price! on: August 08, 2014, 06:14:23 PM
Honest opinion, i did prefer dev's design more. Zendi's one looked alright, but thats just personal preference Cheesy

Question to ZobrZobr, how did the voting process work?

I have suspicions that ZendiMOREN is ZobrZobr.

This seriously won?

I would never bought such a t-shirt but there is good punchline inside, perhaps that's what ZobrZobr likes.

On the other hand, devthedev's thought is also probable.

I see it solved now.  Wink   In your next thread.
828  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTER.com sucks ;) - need Help on: August 08, 2014, 04:59:19 PM
Traded ~30000 DOGECOINS on BTER.COM for Bitcoins . Now my balance is 9.10997mBTC i wanted to withdraw them but the minimum amout is 10.6mBTC.

So if anyone could send me 5mBTC i'd be happy , in return i would send you 6mBTC (+1mBTC).

So now you're asking why i need 5mBTC and not 1.5mBTC.

Because they are fuckers :

Quote :
"Notice: If you deposit less than 0.005 BTC, it will be accumulated and credited to your account until no less than 0.005 BTC received."

MY Deposit Address :

1NsvpSTec6GN1FXJ3pJA6nNiHWsRBQV7Ug

I'm not trying to scam just wan't my money out of that shitty exchange.

Thank you.

I'm only willing  to send the first person 6mBTC , so please check if someone else already did.

I was in similar situation some time ago, and I know its annoying.
1 mBTC is not much, but still would be much better if you provide some screenshot or something.
Prove me your story is not a lie, and I will lend you.

830  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: serious question about blockchain on: August 06, 2014, 03:16:29 PM
is blockchain.info really safe to store your bitcoins in? I heard some storys about that its an open book, will it affect any of my bitcoins?

If so, what is an good alternative? Roll Eyes

I think the expression "open book" in this context means "public"  ... so anybody can look inside (but just read only).
you can see balance of every single addy if you know it.

Don't worry, just set 2FA.
831  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are wallets on the same client untracable ?? on: August 06, 2014, 03:08:39 PM

Thank you all for the input !!!

I'm starting to get my head around it (slowly mind ).

I'm using armory (only testing thou). When I receive bitcoins a new address is created each time but when I click on send bit coins its not clear if a new address will be created each time. Is this the case ? anyway of knowing for sure that a new address will be created.

I'm looking at having three "dirty wallets" and three "clean wallets" (post mix) when I send bit coins (I obviously dont any of the wallets linking ) where should I direct the change to be sent ?

Thank you in advance !!!

Great choice. I also use Armory. Probably you have to switch to expert  (User/expert) then you can specify change addy.

there are three options

- send change to new addy (default)
- send change to first addy
- send change to any specified addy (even from other wallets)
832  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Click2dad - BTC Paid to click on: August 06, 2014, 05:44:45 AM
be careful with click2dad

first time withdraw, paid
second time withdraw, still not paid (30 days ago)

and i think click2dad paid too small, there's a PTC paid 30x bigger

And which one, may I ask?

CoinAd ?- max 400 sat. ( 2 or 3 ads.)
btcclicks ?- max  60 sat.  ...  pfff

bitcoinclix? 350 satoshi, (1 ad) +  captcha ... pfff

visitbit, visitbtc ...Huh

only minus is 2 mBTC payout, but with free lotto you can reach it quite fast.

PS. try to cancel withdrawal, they changed payout conditions.

tried shout4coin.com yet buddy?

Thanks for tip, but i'm not using social networks, thus it's not for me.
833  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Buy BTC with Credit Cards on: August 05, 2014, 08:41:03 PM
I'm doing a test to see how this goes. You can buy .02 BTC a day for now. Prices are BTC + 8.5%
https://squareup.com/market/bitcoin-services-inc

Good idea ... 0.02 is ideal amount to try bitcoins. I'm not gonna use your service, but I will try to spread around.
834  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are wallets on the same client untracable ?? on: August 04, 2014, 10:44:23 PM

Hi,

If I have say 6 wallets on the same client (ie armory) is there anyway - other than moving coins from one wallet to another that someone can find out you own all the wallets ? (yes will be using tor)
No there is no way. Because you can export/import wallet to another armory or different client. It's untraceable if addy belongs to same wallet, so don't worry unless you connect them via transaction.
835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is good? on: August 04, 2014, 06:26:35 PM

838  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Click2dad - Easy way to make mBTC on: August 02, 2014, 06:36:49 PM
I don't know if i am wasting my time with this site.

The site claim requested payout withdrawal may required up to 1 week. But my request withdrawal is like over 2 weeks, and it is not processing. Obviously, the site seems to be processing withdrawal daily, but why is my withdrawal not processed?

I just raised a support ticket, see how it will go

It takes time, but they are paying. My payout took also more than week, just check the sequence number of your withdrawal as soon it reach 0 you'll be paid.
