821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: May 25, 2016, 10:09:42 PM
Sold around 25% of my coins (bought purposely just to get back my initial investment) and now will just let the rest ride.  Somewhat conservative approach, but at least I can't lose anything this way... free lisk basically. I need to still get my signature money + FB bonuses too.
822  Other / Off-topic / Re: TV Series Recommendations... on: May 05, 2016, 01:25:32 AM
Not sure if they have been mentioned yet, as they are a little under the radar of most people:

The Knick, about the Knickerbocker hospital, starring Clive Owen, directed by Soderbergh (every episode I believe).

Manhattan, about the creation of the atomic bomb.

Why do you still come here then? And why are you visiting their forum? Why not pick another project instead of following this one?

I assume anyone repeatedly posting negatively in a thread here either wants to buy cheap coins, sold their coins and doesn't want to see a price rise, or has some other monetary goal in mind. Either that, or they just have troll-ish tendencies. Posting critical comments once in a while or even full blown negative comments occasionally is fine ... but those folks who stick around seemingly forever either have way too much time on their hands, or want to see the price rise or fall (applies to hype as much as it does to fud). This forum is very troll-box like unfortunately.
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: April 26, 2016, 05:27:27 PM

It also bothers me the tone of the dev updates is indistinguishable from ad copy.  It's entirely too full of pom-pom waving cheerleader rah-rah happy talk and blatant attempts to stoke irrational exuberance, exactly like Paycoin ("hey guys, we're super-excited about our super-awesome future of super-features coming super-soon!1!!").  And the posters on the Maid forum are even worse; it's like the old GAW community is having a reunion.

That doesn't really bother me much, as it's really to be expected. I've seen similar enthusiasm in dev updates for non-crypto projects too. Its just a way to create an incentive for those involved in the project (or in this case, investors). So long as it's reasonable, it's not a huge deal.

As for posters in the forum, again, to be expected. I've seen much, much worse from other coins/threads here.

I simply didn't like how they presented their timeline, as the way the dev updates were worded they certainly gave the indication that the MVP would ready 'any day now'. When devs do things like that (at least for other coins), I just recall it feeling like price manipulation (again, darkcoin, or cloakcoin, or the million other coins with staggered updates/release points). Either that, or it was poor planning.

Still wouldn't surprise me to see the devs come out and say, okay, all ready, today is the day ... after the coin has sunk down (already has sunk a lot)... after someone bought up a bunch of coins ... and then see a nice price rise. But again that fits into the price manipulation thing.
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OFFICIAL] [SEC] Safe Exchange Coin [website www.safex.io] on: April 25, 2016, 03:42:18 PM

Didn't see any unusual movement here also to be honest but cant really say I'm seeing the connection with MAID prices..

Well, someone certainly did dump just earlier, I see. Although since sell pressure hasn't changed a lot, it probably doesn't mean much. Maybe someone just wanting extra btc (or seeing btc rise, so panic dumping).

The maid connection is iffy ... maid has slowly been sinking the past several days, and so has SEC. I think there is some correlation, but at the same time either one may do its own thing too (up or down). Most alts have been suffering the past several days, so I wouldn't read much into it.

If Maid releases its MVP (finally) I'd expect at least a minor bump to SEC prices ... if SEC says, okay, beta release in a week or two, then I'd expect the real price rise. Same if Polo added the coin.

Are there any other exchanges besides Bittex currently trading SEC? I lost track of all the smaller exchanges ages ago, but it may not be the worst idea to get the coin on a couple of small guys too (assuming any are legit), just for arbitrage/volume purposes.
826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OFFICIAL] [SEC] Safe Exchange Coin [website www.safex.io] on: April 24, 2016, 02:43:17 PM
Any thoughts on recent fall? Where there some bad news I missed?

Appears to be normal movement to me ... one of those times SEC is semi-following Maid prices (Maid recently went down a bit). Only takes a grand total of 4-5 btc to move SEC back up to what was normal-ish and very decent levels.
827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OFFICIAL] [SEC] Safe Exchange Coin [website www.safex.io] on: April 22, 2016, 06:34:35 PM
they said "MAID up SEC up,and MAID down SEC down" ?
are you sure guys?
i can see it,sometimes when MAID fall SEC not fall(even go higher).
i think it's nonsense if we focused on MAID to predict SEC future price,

Seems mixed so far, sometimes they go up and down in unison, sometimes not.
Big thing will be if SEC can get on a bigger exchange eventually and their beta/final releases. Once either occurs, I'd expect a really nice price. Until then it'll probably just do the random up/down thing.
828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: April 21, 2016, 09:04:07 PM

I post most of the Dev-updates here, and I always copy what they say without changing their text. If you look back you see others posting one critical reply after the other and that's fine. The updates are weekly and for the last half year are about a network being run from people's home and they call it the MVP. So I think I get your point, but this is not really different from Ethereum community going wild because "Homestad is coming!". And as you might know most projects get delays. Most of the projects are on GitHub so devs could be excited saying something big is coming, but an easy check on their code could prove them wrong. I would be surprised if devs of cryptoprojects tried to rig markets and got away with it. People could easily see what they were trying. And to talk Maidsafe, they said last Tuesday that they delayed their update to Thursday. And they even said they wouldn't released a full MVP today. So that's even the opposite of what you are saying. I don't think they're pumping or dumping. I think it's just developing software and have a community that's excited about the idea.

Posting here is fine (I didn't mean to disparage anyone posting update info in the forums). Hype from people posting is fine (and expected). I just found it weird how the MVP was supposed to be released a month or so ago, and it's still in testing. Problems happen, delays happen, that's perfectly understood. But the tone of the updates last month was pretty much: 'Okay, maybe this week... couple of days... almost there'. Yet they hadn't even started public testing yet.  So they really knew it couldn't be just a week or two away, if they didn't even start real testing.  That just strikes me as price manipulation (or really, really poor planning skills).

As for this most recent update, I didn't expect the MVP (as you say, they already stated it wouldn't be released now). I guess it just reminded me of the fact that over a month ago it was supposed to be ready, and their idea of 'good news' may not exactly be the same as investor good news.
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: April 21, 2016, 08:35:56 PM
Here's the latest Dev-Update:

MaidSafe Dev Update 21st April 2016

Yeah, community testing to a new level. You can now run a Vault from home and join the network. Not the MVP yet so you have to be a but technical...

Perhaps it's a coincidence, or I'm just overly skeptical, but the dev updates for the past month or two remind me a lot of the old darkcoin updates... meaning price manipulation.

New release <whenever> ... price rises... oops, problem ... price drops... all fixed...  repeat process, etc. etc.

Wasn't it a month ago where whomever was doing the updates was acting like the MVP was going to be released almost at any time... like a week or two away? This was back in March. I mean, how could it have been almost ready to release over a month ago when they didn't even do all of this testing?

Not stating this as FUD, or that I don't like the coin. Just that the Maid devs much watch the price like anyone else ... and they can easily impact it one way or another. Just seems weird how they can't simply state a realistic release date for the MVP. They should have just said May/June, but we'll do some testing earlier. But I guess that wouldn't have the same impact on the price.
830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: April 13, 2016, 05:23:51 PM

That's not something I'd be so happy about. We don't want the coin to be overpriced by the time it hits an exchange. Most likely better to get more coins (still at a decent price) vs less coins that are very expensive.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: April 13, 2016, 03:31:10 PM

I'll have whatever they are 'drinking' to make this so any time any place Smiley

But hell 10c per lisk is more likely imho by a long shot.

(man I soooooo want to be wrong and the kool aid drinkers correct) ...but I mean really $1 sheesh

$1+/coin early on would be nice of course, and not impossible (stranger things have happened), but expect it'll either require an early pump over a month or two, or more a long-term target. Long-term in crypto speak may just be 4-6 months though. Who knows really...

Somewhere between .20-.40/coin might be a more feasible target early on.
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: April 12, 2016, 08:16:07 PM
My first waves arrived into my dashboard! Grin

And... wow! 2852 BTC total already! Shocked

Anyone remember how much Lisk had gathered?

I think about 14K + whatever they can get out of their XCR. That is total... no idea what they got their 1st day.

Although keep in mind that some of the people associated with Waves have deep whale pockets, so we don't know how much is from outside investors. It's also in our best interest if Waves does well, but not too well. We don't want it to be overpriced by the end of the ICO.
833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: April 12, 2016, 05:21:53 PM
How much time it takes for waves to appear in my account. It's been more than 10 confirmations since i transferred BTC and still 0 waves in my dashboard

Seemed about an hour wait for me (although I am just guessing).
834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: April 12, 2016, 05:18:39 PM
It works for me!

Bitcoin    0.50000000    e0fb21xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx56b2    2016-04-12 19:04:22    3   Balance   19409.24753337 Waves

Mine just came in too, 39Kish Waves. Shame it won't stay at that level very long. Took a while to show up though, so folks shouldn't panic if theirs isn't listed yet.
835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: April 12, 2016, 04:56:49 PM
my idea is to invest a little now and then at the end to analyse the situation and see how much is worth to invest.  There are 50 days of ICO not only 1! I know its 20 per cent but you will have your BTC stuck in an ICO for 50 days, what if BTC go up by 2000 per cent by then and all your BTC is stuck in an ICO. just use common sense

That's what I am doing. Small amount now, and then I'll re-evaluate later.

I think folks see 20% and think they need to all rush in right now. Everyone has until the end of the month (if I remember right) to get a 10% bonus. So it's not like 20% vs no bonus at all, for just waiting.

Now I just wish they'd get the kinks out of the system. My small donation still hasn't shown up in my account.
836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM ALERT] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: April 12, 2016, 03:19:21 PM
EK removed all his messages from this thread but they are still available in cache. Also, he is running a bot that removes posts from all 'unwanted' (mirror) users. Someone still thinks it's not a scam?

I wondered what happened to the post I quoted yesterday. Not necessarily a scam, but somewhat bizarre. Not a fan of the trollish 'scam accusation' method of being critical of coins here, unless it's 100% definitely a scam ... ie Brooklyn Bridge Coin, own a piece of history ... that sort of thing.

The bot appears to just be mostly to remove your posts, as they were becoming spammy over there (at least to the best of my knowledge).

Curious if any investors over there will repeat the request for a ledger and at least some basic polling. It's a simple request, which I think even EK said was reasonable. I see no reason why they wouldn't at least provide something like that.
837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM ALERT] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: April 11, 2016, 11:37:24 PM

I remember back then we had the idea to write something that allows for a decentralized democratic, decision making process based on the amount of XEL each of the voters holds. A democratic decision on how to use the funds would be very pleasant (i have expressed that a few months ago) but I think that, unless someone volunteers to setup such platform, this would come at a way too high overhead. At least for myself as I am at the moment totally focussing on implementing the coin itself. I cannot speak for Lannister, but I cannot think of any reason why he shouldn't be fine with that.

Well, I was thinking of something even simpler.

A public ledger -- how past funds were used, and where future funds are allocated -- for starters. That is very doable.

As for votes, you could either set it up via the website, or even just do simple polling here. It won't be scientific of course, nor would votes be relative to how much each person invested, but it'd at least be something. The ICO money is meant to be used to develop the coin, so I see no harm in at least asking folks once in a while what they'd like to see ... a simple A, B, or C option would suffice.

Again, not perfect, but doable.
838  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM ALERT] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: April 11, 2016, 10:52:37 PM

Why would you escrow non-refundable donations in the first place?
Despite that, i personally believe that escrow is counterproducive for this kind of project. How can the project fund its development if the escrow releases the funds AFTER the development. I remember we have had many discussions about that already and I think that we just follow two entirely different ideologies.

You are missing the point if you think everyone's concerns just have to do with the lack of escrow. Plenty of ICOs don't use escrow. I've even invested in some (although it's been a while).

However, I will again make the suggestion to provide a public ledger as to how the funds are used, and ask investors their opinions on future use. Last time I brought up the ledger thing, Lannister shot it down immediately.
839  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM ALERT] Elastic Project - The Decentralized Supercomputer on: April 11, 2016, 09:46:09 PM

I am sorry to hear that you disagree with our policies and, as a consequence of that, you decided for yourself to not support us. Your main concern, as I recall it to mind, is for the missing escrow. We always have been honest, even in the face of discomfort, and knowing that this may wave some red flags we have decided against using an escrow service. I have never made a secret of this fact, and so I kindly ask you to respect this. I still hope that our project can, at some point in the future, convince you to come back to us.

It wasn't just the escrow thing that bothered me (and actually wasn't the point of the post I just made).

It was about a lack of professionalism. You responded just now in a polite and professional manner to me, so good there. Yet many times I have seen other people responded to as if they were automatically trolls... sort of a take it or leave it approach.  Now of course there are tons of trolls here, but every critical comment doesn't mean a person is fudding or in troll mode. Also not fond of the fact that it used to take seemingly forever (and lots of posts) to get a vague, semi-informative response, to very basic questions people were having. It always just struck me as odd.

There are certainly other things that I have issues with (such as who you actually are), lack of a ledger regarding spent funds, lack of a firm development team, etc. But every coin has some issues. That doesn't mean the coin is a scam, but it points to mismanagement. Again, I'll keep an eye on the coin ... right now my alts are bleeding, so it's not like I have tons of spare btc to invest anyway.
840  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: April 11, 2016, 07:15:36 PM

Call me a retard--Lisk isn't actually trading yet?  Yobit is still trading those IOUs?  Either way Lisk is getting slaughtered, but it's rebounding a bit.  When is the actual coin being squeezed out of the sphincter?

Of course it isn't actually trading yet. It hasn't even been released yet. End of April is the projected date (last time I checked).

The IOUs have no relationship at all with the real Lisk, besides perhaps as a way to gauge interest in the coin. It's useful for threads like this however, if folks want to spread hype or fud. Coins are $10 each!/Lisk price is collapsing, get out now! Meanwhile, Lisk hasn't been listed on a single exchange yet...

And of course it was useful to Yobit -- they were extremely clever with this.
