841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Still A P2P Electronic Cash System ?. on: November 01, 2023, 04:27:42 PM
~
Bitcoin already functions as a P2P electronic system, although it has not achieved this description and purpose fully, but it will as soon it gets recognized generally, accepted and then adopted by more vendors for transaction purposes. Satoshi saw the future, we are not yet in that future where bitcoin is already serving this purpose.

We are the early adopters that are witnessing the growth and maturity of bitcoin into what it will become, and for the now we are just taking advantage of it to invest and make profit from it's present volatile nature.
842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Simple Reason Why Bitcoin is not Money on: November 01, 2023, 04:07:11 PM
I sense some hostility against bitcoins, but this your opinion of bitcoin is based on lack of understanding.

If Bitcoin is not money, then what is it? Well, it is a means of recording membership in some kind of decentralized and self-governing pyramid scheme. Members invest purposeful items in it - goods, services and money. They then get recorded by the peer-to-peer network with a certain number of points. Finally, they wait for new investors so they can get out of the scheme. Without new investors, they cannot get purposeful items back - which is how all pyramid schemes operate. Since the Bitcoin scheme is online and thus global, early members made huge profits, which caused great public interest and created a considerable membership base. It is estimated that today the scheme has more than 200 million members.
Bitcoin is no way a pyramid scheme, it is very far and different from it and shares no attribute that you can say is similar to pyramid schemes.

Emphasis on recruitment
If there’s a program that’s placing a lot emphasis on getting others to join – as opposed to selling a product or service – chances are that it’s illegal.
If you invest in bitcoins, you do not need to bring two or any required number of persons. You can talk to people to try out this opportunity, but you are not under any form of pressure for them to join under you.

Promises of high returns within a short time
If one is being offered a way to make quick cash within a very short time, they should be skeptical about such schemes. The only way a program can yield quick profits is if payments from new recruits are being used to pay off early investors.
HODL as long as you can, no one told you that you were going to be rich in two weeks when you invest in bitcoins.

843  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ballon d'Or discussion and odds on: October 31, 2023, 08:48:12 PM
Ballon d'Or is no longer something you win; it's something you're given. It's not a reliable measure of football performance anymore. If we're comparing achievements like the World Cup (Messi) and the treble (Haaland), then shouldn't Alvarez win the Ballon d'Or since he's won both?
I see the award as an award given to the player who has the most influence for their team in very big and important games, players who can make a difference regardless of the team that their team is up against. Haaland may have scored a good number of goals last season, wo the treble with Manchester City, but he is not Balon d'Or material yet because in big games, he can be completely shadowed out.

See Jude Bellingham for instance, he is Balon d'Or material, seen how he carries his team, just like Mbappe who can also on singlehandedly make a huge impact in a game. See past winners like Ronaldo and even Benzema, they all had huge influence for their team in the season they won the award, scoring goals, and creating chances for others.

Haaland got the award he deserve for the now, he is a great goal scorer, nobody denies that, but there should still be a lot of improvement to his game to be considered the best player in the world.
844  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] Halloween giveaway scam is all over, protect your Bitcoin. on: October 31, 2023, 02:00:30 PM
Guys, kindly be aware that hackers always like to take advantage of any slight opportunity they can get. They will be sending some phishing links to your email, asking you to claim a Halloween gift, and if you mistakenly tap on those links, you might be granting them access to your device.
Scammers and cybercriminals will go the extra mile to perfectly package with design and well structured writeups that can fool someone at first glance. They understand the euphoria that comes with events and celebrations, and they try to always take advantage of it.

I am extra careful these days because I understand that the economy is bad in most places and many companies are no longer in the business of doing extravagant giveaways and bonuses.
845  Economy / Economics / Re: choose an option on: October 30, 2023, 10:01:23 PM
a. $480,000 lottery win as payments spread over 96months(8 years) of $5k a month
Not a good option, the company may find a reason to stop paying, may get bankrupt and fold up, cannot take that risk.

b. $480,000 lottery win as payment lumpsum $480k
This will be better as you will be able to plan well with it and spread it over investments like a property, bitcoins and even business.

c. $480,000 of bitcoin at(~$24k/btc buy price recent months allocated to the donator) 20btc
I will not want all to be invested in bitcoins, there are many needs to be sorted out so that I can be comfortable investing in bitcoins.[/b]

d. $480,000 value house
What is the use having a house valued at $480,000 when I will not be able to furnish it and live well in it because I do not have the money to.

e. $480,000 value business
This is a good choice too because there is the prospect of really getting good profit from a business that has take such an amount to set up.

Option B is for me.

Be careful not to make the same mistake twice, you may not be so lucky the second time.

To avoid mistakes of sending to a wrong address, always double check the address you pasted with the one you copied because asides the mistake you made, you may never know when you have been affected by the clipboard virus from cyber criminals that can modify crypto address copied to the clipboard to that of the criminal behind it.

It is not impossible to be a victim when the device you use often to surf the internet is same device you store and send your bitcoins from.
847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is health and health is Bitcoin. on: October 30, 2023, 04:30:09 PM
in summary without a good health you will not think out of good project to invest. so without a proper health I don't think Bitcoin investment can be actualize.
The number one priority for everyone with a health condition especially the terminal cases is how to recover and get back to good health and not particularly investments because they know that due to their health condition, the chances that they may live long enough to enjoy the benefits of their investment is very small. A person with health condition even if they decide investing in bitcoins will not do it wholeheartedly, hence it is important that if you are healthy, you need to try to stay healthy as you keep investing in bitcoins.

Bitcoin is long term, we have to think long term for our health as well.

Nkunku will be back on GW16 but I'm worried the Chelsea curse will hit him too.
Chelsea will still need to get a goal scorer and goalkeeper at the next opportunity. They look good in every other position except these two. Nkunku cannot be trusted to remain injury free for long, the man can get injured even in training and be out for weeks.

I tried to be cute and captain Watkins as I like playing around with whoever is facing Luton, that's 13pts down the drain from Haaland  Embarrassed
I vice captained Palmer, I expected him to score against Brentford and have a great GW. It did not go as planned but I do not regret it as my former choice of vice captain Bruno Fernandes played even more poorly in the the derby game against city.
849  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: October 29, 2023, 01:17:34 PM
Why do I somehow feel silly for not owning Son?  Huh
Same way I feel for not owning Salah, I do not just see a game where he will not score or create an assist.

Brendford scored on their first second-half chance. My darling Chelsea games are so scripted that whenever we dominate a game in the first half without scoring, we invariably lose in the second half. Today we're good, tomorrow we're a ass. So inconsistent
Chelsh*t! Jackson needs to be schooled, the team desperately need a finisher. Chelsea were just Lucky against Burnley, we thought they had improved too when they played Arsenal, but against Brentford, shows that they are back to where they were.

Nice to see Arsenal going 5-0, with Saka and Odegaard having a combined 6 points.
Exactly how a team that has the intentions to win the league should be performing, Play vey well against the small teams, win the games you are expected to win against these teams, and then make sure to not loose but to pick a point or win when you play big teams. Arsenal has successfully been able to do that this season. Winning Manchester United, Manchester City, and not loosing to Chelsea. We have Liverpool left to contend with. It is never an easy game with them.
850  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Boxing October 28 on: October 29, 2023, 12:11:24 PM
What an incredible performance by Francis Ngannou against Tyson Fury even though he lost the fight by split decision, Francis Ngannou was able to drop him in the third round and won the round and it was a really close fight than anticipated and the stock of Francis Ngannou just gone up with this performance.
Francis is my winner, the fight was judged in Fury's favor to make sure that the fight between Fury and Usyk maintained the hype. It would have been bad for Marketing if Francis defeated a big champion in boxing on his debut. But it was very obvious who the winner was meant to be, It was meant to be in the favor of the aggressor who was undoubtedly the underrated Francis Ngannou.

A man against his fears!

Happy that Francis has earned enough financial reward ($10million) for his bravery and courage to have his first boxing match with one of the best in the ring, and also earned the respect of everyone including Fury.
851  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: October 27, 2023, 09:47:06 PM
You have four unavailable players whose prices will likely decrease in the coming week, and the way your team is set up, you're going to take a -12 hit to solve some of your shit before it gets worse. You cannot expect a good point when playing 4-4-2 With Aston Villa, Arsenal, and West Ham defenders. You have your wildcard on hand to set up your team and send injured players out for free. In your circumstance, I would activate WC and reset my team.
I have taken this advice and all of a sudden I feel more optimistic about the coming GWs, starting from this weekend.

I already have Son on seven points from his performance backed by a goal in their game against Crystal Palace. Tottenham are playing very good football this season and I just wonder if they will be able to sustain this momentum and top the table to the end of the season. Ange Postecoglou has transformed the players, their mentality has improved very much. Micky Van de Ven is a great defender with good speed that has made him very good with recovery, Maddison is such good player for them with how very good he is with creating chances, Pape Matar Sarr will be sort after soon by top clubs  if he continues to develop and the Coach Ange Postecoglou has just been too good too with tactics.

Ange Postecoglou knew exactly what the game needed after Tottenham scored the first goal, and Brennan Johnson who he brought in for Richarlison was the player who created the assist for Son after a good tic-tac with Maddison to give them an assurance of victory.
852  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spirituality and Betting - Do they Have any Connection? on: October 27, 2023, 04:44:58 PM
Now, my question is, does God play a part in our gambling activities? Do you think how much faith or not, we have in God (or whatever we serve as a God) has anything to do with how much we win or lose in sports betting and gambling in general?
I cannot speak for God, but I think he has no dealings with petty things like gambling. Following the gospel, we are all children of God, and both the person that wins and looses are all his children, so spirituality or praying to God to win in gambling is useless because the other person who has placed an opposite bet to what you have placed may have also prayed to the same God. So who is he going to answer?

There is luck in gambling, but no spirituality.
853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a “safe haven asset” on: October 27, 2023, 04:10:07 PM
For me, this is the first time I've seen a traditional company admit and call bitcoin a safe haven and consider it superior to gold. What do you think about this and should we stop calling bitcoin a risky investment?
The economy in most countries is quite unpleasant at the moment and has become very worrying for citizens, many companies and even private business are folding up because their profit has heavily been affected and reduced and they can no longer sustain the high cost of running the business hence the choice to shutdown. Bitcoin provides a way out, an opportunity, a safe haven for people to make investment in something that is not affected by their economy and government.

As things toughen up, many people who never like bitcoin are coming to the realization the importance and relevance bitcoin has.
854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "Mattress Mack" loses nearly 10 million dollars on Astros Loss on: October 27, 2023, 09:19:50 AM
@OP He deals on furniture's, he must be rich to be the owner of a furniture place because furniture's are quite expensive. He lost at least $7.9m to gambling, he would have won more had his team performed as they did the last year, and the story would have been different entirely praising him for winning two years in a row on the same team. He can afford to loose millions, that is why he gambled with it.

He did win millions ($75m) already on this team from the bet he made on them the previous year, so he will not think of the lose so much.

( could you ever bet millions if you had it? )
Yes I think I can.

If making millions is no longer a big deal, and I am already used to the lifestyle of making millions, I can risk gambling with a million to make more millions.
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in the last 5 years compare to now on: October 27, 2023, 09:02:48 AM
~
Asides the comparison of the value of bitcoin between now and the last five years, bitcoin has also shown growth in the form of increased popularity. More people know about bitcoins now, than five years ago, and that is how it will continue to be, that is more people knowing and hearing about bitcoins until there is no one left without knowledge of bitcoins. The duration it will take for it to be achieved will be determined by how committed we are to letting people know. With more commitment, it should be achievable faster than expected.

Today will one day become the past also, and a reference point to the future.
856  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is the increase in Bitcoin price benefits us on: October 27, 2023, 08:24:41 AM
Let me have your opinion on how Bitcoin increase benefits you .
The increment in the value of bitcoin is obviously benefits investors, but it is not without the other effects it can have on an investor.

Within the past week, the value of bitcoins have increased, and many investors may have been tempted to sell and take profit.

The increase in the value of bitcoin can make investors consider selling too early, responding to the impulse of selling to take profit even when they have no serious needs that require money and could have stayed on the market longer.
857  Economy / Economics / Re: World Debt Clock by nations. on: October 26, 2023, 05:05:33 PM
Clearly, the US is doomed!!!
Nigeria also faces this impending doom with how much debt that the country is into. Bad leaders borrowing just for any reason when Nigeria is so blessed that we should be the country lending to other countries.

Nigeria is indebted to China heavily, then France, India, Germany, Japan.

As at March 2023, Nigeria owes $5.16Billion, higher than the figures from December 2022 where it was still $5.07billion.

Nigeria owes China - $4.34bn
France - $593.75m
Germany - $144.75m
Japan - $62.02m
India - $26.64m

858  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Pending justice for SBF on: October 26, 2023, 04:46:19 PM
The justice system is really fucked up. I saw another update on the FXT scam court trial on SBF which really pissed me off because so many people have been affected and till date nothing has been effectively done to the recovery of these loses and still yet the criminal mastermind himself is still walking free in terms of the appropriate justice for the whole saga and this just makes me wonder if truly the system is actually working or are some folks actually bigger than the LAW?
The lesson from FTX and SBF has already been learnt that it is never safe to store and safe bitcoins on an exchange. The victims should try to move on with the lessons learnt because recovery will only happen on a slim chance. I cannot say for sure that the justice system works all the time and in all cases, because sometimes the justice system favors the high and very connected and SBF seems to be in that category.

There is a halving coming, the best choice as someone who lost to SBF should be to pick themselves up, dust themselves and try to start gathering more bitcoins for next year, this time they can do it correctly.

What is the most weird thing you bought with crypto?
I have not gotten anything weird with bitcoins but I have seen weird things that people accept bitcoins for.

On reddit, I have read stories of how a reddittor had a chat with another reddittor that told him he met a vendor for drugs on reddit and the vendor only accepted crypto for payment so they can maintain their anonymity. I find this weird.

I think that I have collected quite good amount of points this week. However I haven't been able to collect the points I wanted from my Darwin and Højlund preferences on forwards yet. I'm very happy to be in top 10 still when I think about my first season performance. I hope that I can manage to finish the fantasy league in a position that is enough to win a prize at the end of the season.
I was in top 10 at some point in the season, then moved to top 20, but now in top 30. I have had a series of bad weeks and I am trying to learn as fast as I can since it is my first season playing. I hope for better weeks because right now I have many players injured and not performing well at all, I cannot replace them all because in addition to the free transfers, I will loose more points to replace them.

I will do my best to see the changes I can make, so as to change the direction of my movement in the ranking table from bottom to top.
