441  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: biggest misconception about Cryptocurrency? on: December 27, 2023, 10:11:40 AM
What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about cryptocurrencies, and how would you clarify it?
Some misconceptions that some people have is that investing and Hodling any cryptocurrency can make them rich.
Correction: Not all cryptocurrency should be invested in, care has to be taken in choosing what to invest in. Bitcoin is always the recomended because of it track record and reputation.

Another is that their one time investment in cryptocurrency say bitcoins without follow up investments is enough to bring them wealth.
Correction: Investing ones in bitcoins is not enough, to get the best from bitcoins, we need as much bitcoins as we can keep, and the best way to get enough bitcoins is to continually invest regularly.
442  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 26, 2023, 09:29:46 PM
Some betting operators and bet shop owners do not care who they take money from for bets, so long as their pockets are enriched. It is not proper.

My question now is are there any moral, ethical or legal obligation to bar a person from gambling after physically observing that he is mentally unstable?
It is a very thin line between a homeless person and a mentally unstable person, sometimes you may mistake a man who is just homeless and leaves on the streets to be a mad or mentally unstable person, but it is not always true.

A homeless person has little hope, and betting or gambling and hoping to win may just be the last hope they have to at least get something from this life, If you think of it somehow, it can be sad to take away that last hope that they have got.
443  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice for crypto bigginers who like chasing the next big thing in crypto. on: December 26, 2023, 04:41:45 PM
Hundred of BRC20 are now been printed everyday now, be careful fellas, as it's now a target for scammers, they have abandoned other hypes for Bitcoin BRC20, don't go and start buying any BRC20 that haven't pump yet with the hope that it will.
These are part of the everyday temptation that must be overcome, these are some of the temptation to distract you from hodling that which is really important these season where bitcoin value is about experiencing a surge.

Older investors in bitcoins know and are well aware of these kind of temptations at periods like this, so because of the experience they do not chase around projects that they just think will be the next big thing without carrying out their own research.
444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When (if Tenable) is The Right Time to Share Your Bitcoin Private Keys? on: December 26, 2023, 04:18:30 PM
~
I imagine that an investor with a lot of bitcoins will not die pleasantly knowing that their bitcoins will be lost and will not be transferred to their family who may be in need of serious financial assistance. This is why I think that every investor should plan for their bitcoins like they were to die the next minute.

If you cannot trust a close member of your family, Your wife, your husband, your children, your brothers and sisters, then maybe you can get two lawyers who do not know each other and will be bound by law, split your seed phrase between the lawyers to deliver to your next of kin on the occasion of your death, timely or untimely.

A timelock can also be set, if you die before the time, and it is passed to your family, they will still need to wait for the time on the lock to elapse before they can assess it.

446  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Help someone in the year 2024 on: December 26, 2023, 03:07:45 PM
How hilarious it is when some persons brag about there there assets and achievement to the people close to them, but when it comes to things that will add values and meanings to there life they become mute, they don't share ideas and opportunities, many are quity of this act but don't forget that someone you help today can help you tomorrow.
Have you on your own assisted someone in the capacity that you can? The people who cry the most that nobody is offering a helping hand to them are people who have never tried helping others. It is a natural law to get what you give, If you offer help, you will get help when you need it, if you do not offer help when you can, and also do not have a heart of helping others, help will be far from you when you need it.

Help others so you can get help.
447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have You Accomplished What Brought You to Bitcoin? on: December 26, 2023, 02:39:04 PM
What brought you to Bitcoin and how much of it have you accomplished?
The concept of being able to invest any amount you have in bitcoins makes it attractive and what attracted me to it. So far If I am to score myself on my accomplishments, I will say that I have accomplished something, but not the exact goal I hope to meet yet.

I wonder for the people who have said to meet/accomplish their target, what next for them?

I think a new target be set, instead of thinking that you have accomplished a lot already.

449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: In The Span Of six months what will make you trust a new casino on: December 25, 2023, 10:26:41 PM
Launching a review and signature campaign?
We have seen scam casino's launch and run signature campaigns.

No complaints or scam accusations?
Yes, this is critical and important. No scam accusations, and quickly resolved complaints is a sign of credibility and seriousness.

Very responsive representative here?
This is a good criteria, because an active representative will be quick to answer to any complaint from any one here in this forum.

Good reviews from casino review sites?
Reviews are good, but they cannot always be trusted.
450  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New Trends Among Beginner Traders on: December 25, 2023, 10:05:18 PM
Has anyone else here noticed this too?"
It can also be a personality trait, some people naturally like to show-off, so at any slightest opportunity, they always try to show to the other person that they are more knowledgeable than the next person.

It can also be the excitement associated with learning something new, something which you will like to share to anyone you know.

Newbies like this need to advised to try to keep things to themselves, or even if they want to talk about it, it should be to people with whom a conversation with will add to your knowledge.
451  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It is you who can't stop betting. on: December 25, 2023, 09:28:02 PM
I really think that it is not hard to quit gambling even when you are winning and not winning, but it is you who can't control yourself. Bets can not force one to stake, but a gambler can force themselves to stake a bet, even when he or she does not have money to bet.
You are simply saying so because you are not an addict to gambling, and since you have never been there, you see it as something very easy to do. It is easy to criticize people from outside, when you have never been in their shoes.

Some gamblers did not learn how to gamble. They just see themselves doing it, but they can't stop it. Why because they can't control themselves, even when they are not an addicted gambler?
Lack of self control is the primary characteristic of a gambler, so if a gambler cannot control themselves, it simply means that they are getting addicted to gambling, or addicted already.
452  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lack of proper knowledge on casino games increases chance of loss and reduce fun on: December 25, 2023, 08:56:58 PM
I would like to ask if some people here has experienced this too and what is the possibility that most people who experience repeated losses are Ignorant of the game play patterns.
You cannot expect consistent good results from games that you have little knowledge about. You may be lucky ones, as beginners luck, but if you fail to get knowledge about the game you are playing and know more, beginners luck is not constant, you will loose woefully, and a lot of money until you prioritize knowledge.

Knowledge is essential in skill based games to ensure that you have fun, in luck based games, you can gamble freely without any knowledge and still have some fun.
453  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should security be employed in local bet shop? on: December 25, 2023, 07:57:53 PM
So for other persons to feel safe betting there I think securities should be employed there.
The owners of these local betting shops try to make as much profit as possible, so they limit their staff requirement to less than five just so they do not have to pay so much salaries. The few people that they employ are the people who help bettors place their bets, they are the cleaners, they are also the security and every other job position that is required.

I know that most times some persons carry huge sums of money to come to gamble and I understand that if it was a local casino there would be securities. Now, in the local bet shop, why are there no securities? I know a local bet shop close to where I reside. There are no securities there and there are people who act strange and mentally unstable there.
If your money makes it to the local gambling shop, I do not think you can be hijacked there. The danger is when you win a huge sum from these shops, and you are given cash, and then you need to take it home.
454  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Glo and it's network wahala on: December 24, 2023, 09:48:14 PM
No be lie na MTN get coverage pass for naija whether village or town if you compare the network connectivity, coverage and services na MTN still pass.
First, MTN changed their slogan from "Everywhere you go" to "What are we doing today", because they know that they are really not everywhere like their slogan claims. MTN can sometimes and in some places as poor as Glo can be. So person for Nigeria need to get like two of more sim cards to be able to switch to the other if one has poor reception.

Glo should invest heavily on mast all over the country like Mtn if them one compete with them
It cost a lot to install a Mast, Service providers have to be sure that they can make back the money they have used to invest in these masts before they approve such a project. Some areas already dominated by other service providers and places with low population are discouraging places to set up masts.
455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Know when to ride and stop! on: December 24, 2023, 09:33:02 PM
Don’t increase your bet when you are losing because it will just amplify your loss immediately once you are in bad streak. Always test the water before you increase your bet.  Wink
If you give people this advice, you are endorsing gambling without a budget or a set amount of money. Do not increase bet while gambling, it can be a big trap, in a situation where you increase your bets because you are winning, then loose it all after enjoying a winning streak.

Set a gambling budget each time you want to gamble, do not try to increase it as you gamble, it is not a good practice to gamble without a limit or budget.
456  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between Physical and Online Gambling which makes a person more addicted on: December 24, 2023, 09:07:27 PM
Do you think Online Gambling has the worst potential of making a person addicted?
Comfort is a drug and is very addictive, due to the comfort and ease that it provides. Online casinos generally offer ease of access from anywhere provided that you have an internet access. Physical casinos and gambling places maybe comfortable and easy depending on the distance and location of the place from your home. If it is close to you, there will be ease, if it isn't then it becomes difficult and may affect your decision to gamble always.

Before online gambling, there always have been addicts to gambling. Online gambling merely increased the chances of being addicted and then also the number of persons who can get addicted.
457  Other / Meta / Re: Merry Christmas to the Forum on: December 24, 2023, 08:19:13 PM
Merry Christmas to @everyone on the BitcoinTalk Forum.
Merry Christmas to everyone in this forum too.

There is usually a lot of pressure to spend because of the festivities of the day. In where I am from, many people will always demand that you celebrate the Christmas for them, which is an indirect way of demanding that you give them money. Sometimes it is difficult to avoid these people, and you may come under the pressure to change some bitcoins out of the budget for fiat to settle these people.

Avoid it! Do not fall under this pressure!!
458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Too Expensive For Me. on: December 24, 2023, 07:44:09 PM
The value of Bitcoin has gradually reached great heights. It has become impossible for a new small investor like me to invest in Bitcoin. I am a very small investor. $2k wealth is mine.
If you think bitcoin is too expensive, then be ready to carry to carry the cost of regrets later when you discover that you did not have to wait until you were able to afford 1btc or more before you could own some bitcoins. Many bitcoin holders currently do not have up to one bitcoin in their holding, they are using any free cash they have to purchase as much satoshis as they can because even with their satoshis, they will still be profit from bitcoins although not so much as those with more bitcoins.

Well does Bitcoin provide any opportunity in future that I can invest.
Your opportunity to invest is now.

460  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do casino owners benefit from creating multiple casinos? on: December 22, 2023, 10:19:35 PM
I have noticed that there are multiple casinos in the crypto space owned by the same person or company. I am curious about the reasons behind creating additional casinos when there is already a running and profitable one.
It is a business strategy to dominate the market, so that regardless of the option of casino chosen by a gambler to gamble in, they still will be the the ones to profit. They create the competition with themselves. This business strategy works for some business owners who understand the risk involved, have the capital for it too before engaging in such diversification. But for others who do not understand the risks, and are not sure about the capital, it ends up being a bad choice for them as it will also sink the other casino businesses that they have if they are not lucky.
