I've built something similar, concentrating on software projects:  http://www.online-tipjar.com/list/debian

Do I understand this correctly?  I can register, add funds using PayPal, send those USD funds to someone else, and they can withdraw those funds as Bitcoins (or Mt. Gox USD)?

8563  Other / Meta / Re: Announcements section? on: May 30, 2011, 11:25:17 PM
Major new pieces of software or services of interest to all BitCoiners are currently announced in the discuss or development sections. It's easy to miss them there and they get drowned out by other chat.

A section specifically for announcements of global interest would be good. Examples of things that'd be appropriate:

Most days now there are north of 2,000 posts each.

So +1, or I vote YEA, or "Bump", or pretty please, or is bounty needed, or ?

I want to start trading locally. Smiley

  Bitcoin.local likely has someone local

The Bitcoin Map is a collaborative map with at least one marker near you:

8566  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Could we get an economy of freelancers doing mini- or microtasks going? on: May 28, 2011, 11:11:20 PM
There are a number of bitcoiners who have listed their services on the Freelancers category in the Bitcoin Wiki:

Freelancers can also register on Bitcoiners:
For example, freelancers who offer programming services: http://www.bitcoiners.org/jobs/programming

There are a few startups involved in matching up those who wish to do task work and those needing assistance.

One promising development is Zaarly:

Another very interesting project is CoffeeAndPower.com, from the co-founder of Second Life:
They even have their own currency, C$, which can be used for transactions, purchased through the site with PayPal, redeemed to the site with payment redeemed via PayPal (less 15% fee), or traded person-to-person for bitcoins (yes, I've asked, they are fine with it.).
8567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone else had problems with MyBitcoin on: May 28, 2011, 10:06:56 PM
I tried to purchase bitbills through the MyBitcoin merchant service. Followed the instructions precisely, but got a message saying "Payment failed". BTC was sent, merchat didn't get the BTC or confirmation and MyBitcoin doesn't reply to support messages.

Did you pay using the "Pay with Bitcoin" button or with the "Pay With a MyBitcoin Account" button?

If you used the "Pay with Bitcoin" option and sent bitcoins then  does the transaction show up in:

If not, is it a low priority transaction stuck waiting for a miner to include it?

Did you get the dispute resolved?

The MyBitcoin service does have a messaging system.  Have you tried that yet?

Hey I'm opening my new site for bitcoin exchanging.  http://www.bitcoinredemption.com/

So I send my wishlist of items to you and you provide a quote?

Can you at least share how you calculate the number that goes in the quote?

I have 100% feedback on both eBay and OCN. You can check it out on the website.

How about a GPG rating on  the OTC WoT used frequently with #bitcoin-otc ?
  http://bitcoin-otc.com/trust.php

Will you allow me to set up a ClearCoin escrow, and then when the items are received and then release the coins to you? (assuming my trust rating in the GPG WoT is acceptable to you?)

8571  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [PAID] Publish result of Days Destroyed calculation on: May 27, 2011, 09:29:17 PM
This BitcoinDays Destroyed number still doesn't provide a perfect picture, it is just a much better measure than looking at raw spending totals.  Here's an example:

1.  Someone who mined 50 bitcoins exactly one year ago spends them.

Consider a slight variation on that ... example 5:
5. Someone who mined 50 bitcoins exactly one year ago spends 1 BTC.

In Case 5 only 1 BTC was spent and 49 BTC was returned as change.  There would still be 18,250 Bitcoin-days destroyed, even though the coins representing all but 365 of those Bitcoin-days remained in the same wallet.
