881  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you are becoming a billionaire in 2025,buying a large ship should not be goal on: October 05, 2023, 05:22:53 PM
I have no idea where your advice came from but it's just seriously ridiculous. First of all, why should anyone take your advice? My money is my own problem and responsibility so what I do with it should not be anyone's business but me (unless I decide to do illegal things then I'll have to answer to the law). Secondly, helping isn't required, anyone can help whether they are billionaires or average-earning individuals, there isn't a law that mandates us to provide anything for anyone outside of ourselves and our family. Third, if someone does end up helping they probably wouldn't be as excessive as your suggestions.
882  Economy / Economics / Re: Small Scale Business Ideas on: October 05, 2023, 04:56:27 PM
On this board I often see a lot of discussions related to investment and finance which tend to be large scale. However, to start investing we need capital. How do you find capital for investment?
Before we are going to have some business plan set aside we need to have a means of gathering that money as well, there are people who already have something doing which they can put more energy on in other for them to earn more money they can save up and start up a new business or invest it in something else.

For someone who don’t have anything doing but what to gather money for investment, the best thing is to start up anything that can earn them money unless they are the type that are blessed with relatives which can raise them some funds to start up any investment if not the best way to raise money is to either get your self in doing job, or you can render some kind of skillful service to those who need it in other to raise that money.
You are right, having the capital needed for the business is surely the first thing an aspiring businessman should have. Having a plan and vision will result in nothing if the individual doesn't have the startup money needed to launch the business or at least make the initial steps to gather investors. More often than not, however, individuals who already have a detailed plan for their envisioned business already have the capital needed or are already in the midst of getting it by working or by other means of getting income.

Additionally, I wouldn't really suggest borrowing money or relying on relatives as well as friends and acquaintances in starting a business as conflicts will surely arise. Instead, you can have a formal discussion with them by making them investors, but that of course will still require for you to have an initial capital.
883  Economy / Economics / Re: Entrepreneurship and women on: October 05, 2023, 04:34:30 PM
Entrepreneurship has very little thing to do with gender, it's more of the mindset and passion the individual has for the business. Times have changed and the set of women we have now are very much predisposed to business.

Of course, you can't factor out the reality that men dominate the entrepreneurial sectors and that the structure of most businesses doesn't give room for women to thrive that much, but the few that have conquered these shortcomings are doing exceptionally well for themselves.

Right!! Currently speaking, gender has nothing to do with it. This is so outdated to argue with. Entrepreneurship is about mindset, passion, and determination, and those are the qualities that are not gender-specific. As time passes, women learned to break the patriarchal cycle. There may still be existing gender disparities in workplace but they have continuously prove that with the right mindset and support, they can thrive in entrepreneurial sectors traditionally dominated by men.  Cheesy

Well said on this. The views stated here are outdated and I'm not even sure why they should be discussed for so long. Time has proved how women can dominate the same field men traditionally do. Additionally, it was the result of the negative and discriminating cycle that pushed women to make a change and break the norms set by outdated culture and views of society. Women have proved how they can work and provide just the same as men can nurture and express. Such a toxic mindset about these gender norms should be completely thrown out now as it not only affects women but also men and anyone fighting for their gender rights and expressions.
884  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and the fall of Twitter on: October 05, 2023, 04:05:57 PM
the last news I heard was that Elon Musk is going to make a paid version of twitter because the current version contains a lot of bots that he can't even handle so he decided to make a paid version. I'm sure many people will leave Twitter if that really happens. I would prefer not to use Twitter again if that happens. I hope Elon Musk will think again about the worse impacts of making Twitter paid.
Yes, that's also the most recent news I heard regarding Twitter (now called X). Although I get where he's coming from since bots have been a long-term issue with that social media platform for such a long time now. Recently tho, it has been causing more problems as more and more users are being victimized by these bots regarding bad promotions and negative campaigns. However, I don't think turning the free social media platform into a paid one is the best action here since, much like you have stated, users will most likely leave the platform and opt for a different one. Personally, I wouldn't choose to pay to have access to it especially since I know it will only grant me the basic features of the platform that I have enjoyed freely for years.
885  Economy / Economics / Re: Ideas without action: An overview of a successful entrepreneur and a dreamer. on: October 05, 2023, 03:41:46 PM
Most of the time, I fail at anything new because of procrastination. When I want to learn something new or do something new, my mind tells me, "hey you're not feeling well today, start with fresh mind tomorrow" and hundreds of thoughts come to my mind. After a while, I start thinking about the negative side of the idea that why it won't work, and in the end I finish(quite) working on the idea that I never started. Most of the time I procrastinate because my mind tells me, you are not feeling well today start tomorrow, you are awake for 1 night you need to sleep, etc.

By the way nice article I bookmarked it for reminder.
I completely get what you mean as I have been through that same scenario over a hundred times already, and sometimes even today there are occasional relapses when I have to face something important at work or do a chore I've been putting off for the longest time. Our mind is our biggest dictator, we let it control us every time even when we feel like it's not the best thing to do. One thing that I found that helped me overcome such a scenario is to counter those thoughts by reminding myself that if I don't do it today it will surely cause more time and a bigger problem tomorrow. We have to remember that sometimes stress and pressure can be a good thing as it drives us to face our fears and pus forward.
886  Economy / Economics / Re: You can't meet all your needs/desires at once, even if you spend all your salary on: October 05, 2023, 03:16:02 PM
Most of the well earners that are still enjoying their adulthood don't still prioritize investment because they prefer to clubbing, drinking with friends, partying, and other easy go lucky activities, because they are thinking that they only live once, and they can afford it, they can earn it again.

They don't care about their future, the backfire of their activities that don't secure themselves in the future, no savings, no emergency funds, just flexing their salary through social medias and by treating their friends every single time.
Such an example you stated only proves how important it is for us to know what to prioritize in life and how to balance our wants and needs. Although we cannot blame those individuals who choose to spend their well-earned money to enjoy life and live in the moment by going to clubs, parties, easy-go-lucky activities, and excessive shopping, we can surely learn from them by knowing the positive and negative effects of their chosen lifestyle and scaling which one is predominant. I've seen and known people who are able to enjoy those listed things while ensuring that they are able to maintain their savings, have emergency funds, and even invest.
887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: October 04, 2023, 11:59:44 PM
Marquez will leave Honda at the end of the season.

He will probably join Ducati next year.

I thought this was already confirmed. Even though he did good in Honda since his debut, I'm pretty sure he's longing to step on a bike that he can truly use to the fullest. He's quite behind a lot of newer drivers lately, even though he has proven time and again that he's a beast inside the track after 6 championships. Hopefully Ducati gives him the best kind of treatment given his experience and capability.
888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pacquaio vs Mayweather 2 rematch on: October 04, 2023, 11:49:31 PM
These guys are old news. There will still be some interest to this bout, although I'm not sure if it's something that can be compared as to how it was a few years ago. Everyone wanted a rematch back then because they thought that Mayweather didn't come to fight, and just to use the rules to his advantage and get the money. That's what happened, and Mayweather was smart about it. He's trying to get rich and retain the undefeated title, so why would he play based on what Manny wants?

I don't think this will come to fruition. If it does, then it's something that I wouldn't count as professional boxing anymore - more of an exhibition.
889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble till old age or not on: October 04, 2023, 11:05:53 PM
I'll probably stop once I'm no longer feeling the thrill of gambling. As a matter of fact, I tend to spend lesser time on sports betting sites and just watching the games that I care about without thinking of betting on it. I guess at a certain point, you will no loner want to chase the win for yourself and just wish your favorite team to win regardless of your bet. For casino games, I no longer 'crave' playing dice every weekend, and have since settled with a more relaxed hobby that doesn't cost that much.
890  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Si Satoshi Nakamoto nga ba ito? on: October 04, 2023, 08:00:56 PM
Isa pa may community note na from X na the account is portraying to be someone they are not. Ewan ko nalang kung may maniniwala pa dyan.
891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop discouraging people from Bitcoin... on: October 04, 2023, 07:40:52 PM
Why is it that everytime a newbie shows his or her interest in trading Bitcoin, some people will always try to discourage the newbie?  You see them saying things like “Bitcoin trading is not for newbies”
Here's the thing. I have never discouraged anyone from whatever they are trying to do. Even if you fail at something, you gain experience from it. So my advice is always to try to do it but don't do it in a way that could have a bad effect on your life. So I can see why people may discourage newbies from Bitcoin trading. In Bitcoin learning or Bitcoin trading, whatever you call it, it is advised to tell them every bit of information. Whether it is good or bad.

So people saying trading is not for newbies could mean something else. It depends on how you take the words. Imagine me encouraging someone to trade. Most of the newbie traders come to this platform to make money. They think that it is a quick money scheme. They can just earn by making trades. It is all profit from here on out. But that's not the case.
Now if they go on and make a loss and not just any loss, they lose everything. Who would they blame? Of course me! Do I want that? Hell nah man. So if you change your perspective, you can see how this goes.
Exactly! Just because forum members are telling new members about the possible positive and negative outcomes for Bitcoin, it doesn't necessarily mean they are already discouraging that person, instead they are even being good members by looking out for newbies and sharing what they know. I don't see how OP thought of it as a discouraging thing.
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is this fascination with claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto? on: October 04, 2023, 07:23:22 PM
Honestly, I have no idea what they were thinking when they claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto but I'm sure their goal was to either get famous/get popularity for something, and of course the most obvious answer: to scam. It's honestly not new for some individuals to claim they are someone they are obviously not, some even chooses to do that for their own sick entertainment.
893  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you manage your finances and family if your income is low range? on: October 04, 2023, 07:05:35 PM
Yes it is true that no matter how low class a person is he can support his family. Some live a very luxurious life and some live a very poor life.  But in this case, it can be seen that everyone is happy from their place. It is not possible to measure the happiness of people with money. However, money is an inevitable thing to fulfill basic needs.  Food, shelter, health or treatment are three very important elements. No class of people can live without these three.  It is possible to live without education but it is not possible to live without food. Even a minimum income person cannot live without these three.  You have presented the issues very nicely.
While it is true that some people can live without education, we can't ignore the reality that such a thing makes life more difficult for them. In today's world, competition is everywhere and if you want to have an advantage education is always the way hence education is now seen as essential much like food, shelter, and health.
894  Economy / Economics / Re: You can't meet all your needs/desires at once, even if you spend all your salary on: October 04, 2023, 06:47:50 PM
A person's needs are not limited, human needs will continue to exist because as time progresses and unsupportive environmental factors will make us even more deficient in everything, that's why the nature of human needs will never be answered, the problem is that our needs and desires are often sacrificed. Our salary is to meet everyone's living needs.
Believe it or not, how many people collect their salary just to meet their needs? so many, right? Yes, it is a fact that many people spend a month working and after getting their salary they buy the necessities for their lives. This step continues to be done every month, some even do it their whole life.
This is true. It is a continuous process that we will never grow out of. We will always find other things we'll realize we need and we will work just for it. And you are right, we often sacrifice our needs and desires because of the lack of resources we have due to lack of money.
895  Economy / Economics / Re: Is academic pursues enough to get incomes? on: October 04, 2023, 06:27:58 PM
In our country, even applying as a cashier you need be at least a college graduate. Nowadays, employers have a high standard when it comes to hiring employees. If you have a skill in some field, and you have a degree, that is a plus factor when it comes to applying for a better paying job.

There are really some company that will check your experience depends on the field that you are applying and offer you a decent amount of salary, you are lucky enough if the employer will disregard your background in school and focus solely on your skill. But wherever you go, you will definitely meet an employer that have a high standard, that's why having a degree is really better.
Exactly. Both academic background and experience are mostly required by a lot of employers now. The standards for some low-paying roles can even be obnoxious at times when you do some research and realize that it's not the same with other countries. Hence, it is understandable why some individuals are having a hard time finding jobs.
896  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: October 04, 2023, 06:10:24 PM
My wife and I are 66 and 67. She retired in 2012 at 55 after working at 1 job for 33 years.

I got my  pension last year. But I mine and make money in sales ands I am self employed for years.

I make my own hours. I would find it impossible to work 5 days a week 8 hours a day.  but 2 or 3 hours every day via internet and some trips to the mine 2-4 times a month I will likely do for years to come.

I like the work yet I also have a lot of time to spend with the wife.

This means only your wife retired early. I always wonder, people who retire early, dont they miss daily or working routine? I understand that during first year or couple of years, people dont miss their work colleagues, routine of driving to work, getting a coffee on the way and etc. People that retire, they most likely narrow their circle of friend. If they havent saved a lot, for example to travel, they spend most of the time with their second half, family and few friends. But when you are at work, at least you get some news from colleagues. What I mean is, with retirement, the life somehow stops or pauses.
I think you're referring to those who are actually passionate about their job and are able to have a work-life balance. However, in contrast to your point, there are individuals who cannot wait to retire and finally live life and catch up to everything that they missed out on while they were too busy working.
897  Economy / Economics / Re: Population: Economic strength or weakness on: October 04, 2023, 05:51:00 PM
Yes. It cannot be denied that if we compare the impact of a large population on a country's economy, ranging from unemployment, mismanagement, gaps in access to basic services and lack of sustainable development of natural resources, this is a complex problem that has positive and negative aspects of course.

Well, I think what is needed is independent efforts from the community in terms of creating new jobs, let's say self-employed activities and of course don't expect too much to get a job from the government. I think this mainshet must exist and get a helping hand from the government to encourage it so that there are young cadres who after graduating from school do not have to become civil servants in their country.
The problem is so complex and cannot be solved properly by the government, in the end the people have to find their own way to solve this problem and I agree that there is a need for independent efforts by the community to get out of this problem. Waiting for the government to solve it will be hopeless because it is impossible for government to reach a large population, especially for some people who live far from urban areas where the economic cycle is quite slow.

In developed countries, civil servants are not a dream job because working for the government does not make them free to reach a level of financial maturity. Building your own business is much more promising than hoping to work in the government. This mainshhet must be developed so that people do not expect too much help from the government.
It's simple really, people need to start understanding that although the government holds a responsibility to govern and protect the country and its people, we have our own individual responsibilities as well. No matter how many projects, help, and assistance the government provides, if an individual refuse to help themselves and take an action then it will always result back to where they started--nothing.
898  Economy / Economics / Re: Entrepreneurship and women on: October 04, 2023, 05:30:16 PM
A woman can become a great entrepreneur if she gets enough support from her family. We women mean housewives who will work at home and take care of the family beyond that but we don't care, but if women are given enough opportunities then women can move forward a lot.

Entrepreneurship is not only about men, women are entrepreneurs now as well as men. There are many simple businesses for women that can be easily done by women. A woman can start any online business or offline business if family supports and encourages her.  Nowadays people shop mostly online so if a woman can open a clothing store and if that clothing store provides online and offline buying and selling facilities then I think that woman will achieve success in no time. Women are timid in nature and if encouraged and supported they will do much better than expected.
Having support from other family members will certainly make it easier for women if they have the desire to become entrepreneurs because women are very good at managing finances. In the current era of technological development, it will make it easier for everyone to open an online shop. Of course this can be an option for women who want to be entrepreneurs and also continue to take care of their family members. Of course this is very profitable for their partners because they have additional income.
It is truly helpful to have support from family and the people around us, especially in the sectors that are usually not able to receive such support because of social constructs like entrepreneur women. The support will surely boost their confidence and allow them to believe in themselves more that pushes them to show the world how good they can be.
899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Getting paid on gambling accounts on: October 03, 2023, 11:58:10 PM
This is something that I do not understand from people that are getting paid on their gambling accounts. Why do you need to play with it when you have no intention to play at all, and it's just the thought of increasing it that motivated you. It's just like dancing with temptation and taking on his offer with you ending up as a loser. Participating in a gambling signature campaign for over a year, I think there are only two instances wherein I used my payment to play, and that's because I have no extra funds to move around. Other than that, I know that I'm using that payment for other things than gambling.
900  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Before you take sides on: October 03, 2023, 11:46:03 PM
You can't also ignore the fact that there are casinos who are trying to do the best they can to prevent people from winning too much. That's also a fact that is hard to deny. Though you are right, there are people who are trying to cheat the system to beat the casino, and they don't go unpunished especially if the time comes that they won so much that the casino can now take action to restrict their accounts.

It's always good to exercise fair judgment by seeing the facts first. So far, I think no one here jumps on the casinos on the first chance they get. They wait for evidences first before giving their inputs against the platform.
