Hi everyone, I just tested 0.6.3 under Windows 8 and the GUI doesn't look right. Should I report it somewhere in particular?

Wow, I think this was David Deutsch proposed proof for MWI of QM.
I've only read "The Fabric of Reality" by Deutsch, so I have just a rough understanding, but how does this prove Everett's interpretation?

Same thing that took over American Homeowners during the boom or Financiers during the roaring 20s... Greed. People with less knowledge often get caught up in these schemes. I mean look at how many will chance sending money to a "Nigerian Prince" expecting to receive millions in return? I am skeptical by nature (critical thinker). And perhaps you are as well (it would seem so for sure). The majority of the population are not critical thinkers, they're Optimists. They see everything from the "positive" side because they can't deal with the harsh realities of the world they live in. They're the people who enjoy Katy Perry, Justin Bieber etc music (mind numbing, repetitive, devoid of any useful message etc). They bob their heads to the music blissfully unaware of the impending Financial Meltdown just around the corner (and subsequent fall of the American Empire). They just like hearing "Love you, Love love love, beauty, sunshine rainbows, life is perfect blah blah blah". Do I sound disgruntled enough? That's reality +1

Congrats to everyone on a successful IPO!

Glad it passed. Have the coins been sold yet to raise the capital?

Hi Gamma! Hope you are doing well Just wanted to check if any of the fund was invested in pirate (directly or indirectly). Thanks!
|
|
|
Thanks for the opportunity. I just voted YES. There was not a confirmation page but I assume my shares were cast.
I don't think pirate will be able to manipulate the market as he may want to, but it's too risky not to sell the coins to raise capital for our ASIC project. The BTC price is quite high right now. I encourage all other shareholders to vote FOR the motion.

Excellent work everyone! Now that people are upgrading, is there is a system in place to detect if someone tries this attack on the network? In other words, even though many old attacks won't work, do devs/testers actively scan the network to detect bogus packets which attempt to implement these exploits. Sort of having a Bitcoin IDS For example, perhaps an advanced version of something like this: http://blockchain.info/strange-transactions

Recently I bought my first shares on the GLBSE. Not having used them before I am concerned about security as normally I follow the rule "don't give anyone your bitcoin". Today I noticed on the site: "Deposits and withdrawals are delayed, we've installed a new version of the bitcoin client which requires us to download the blockchain. Sorry for the inconvenience." Given that 0.6.3 came out June 25th, but the vulnerability was fully disclosed yesterday (CVE-2012-2459, block merkle calculation exploit: https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=102395) is it possible they waited this long to upgrade? That makes me a bit nervous. Also is https://glbse.com/info/security blank for everyone? Not trying to attack GLBSE here, as this is speculation, just wondering what others are thinking... Thanks!

How are things going? Six days until the IPO is finished. Wishing everyone the best of luck!

That's funny, I was thinking the same thing and came to this forum to see if anyone was discussing it. (Made this account 1.5 years ago, first mined in 2009 for a bit on a CPU but have preferred to lurk thus far.) I wonder how many other people are thinking this. The common wisdom is that BTC will drop but there is the contrarian in me saying otherwise...
Many things are already factored in... is shorting allowed on mtgox? I have never actually used it. Not that I would do that but I am wondering how it could effect the market. There could be a "short squeeze" as in the stock market but I don't know how sophisticated the trading platform is.

7 ATI Radeon 5870s.. each clocked about 900Mhz. There is a script which cycles them down lower if they exceed 83C. A few have 120mm fans zip-tied to 'em as the stock cooling fans broke Used to have 8 cards but one melted before I had an autokill script ATI wouldn't RMA that one (I tried!) I hate not mining @ full capacity but hopefully once the rigs are divided up it will be ok. I am in NC and it is quite hot here so the A/C is the real issue.

Thanks!! I don't think it can last much longer.. I'm at 1.6Ghash at the moment otherwise it gets to be 85F and the A/C can't handle it Going to have to move 2 rigs to another location to distribute the load this weekend. But yea, I gotta try to do my part to secure the network and take part of one of the greatest experiments ever

Thanks! Oh I've been lurking for the last year and GPU mining since last April (small operation, 2 Ghash).. also hosted Plato on his BTC road trip last summer! But it's about time I got involved on the forum

lol! I think I sent 30 to someone... well maybe not that many! I hope they still have them! Sheesh! Anyone know what happened to the BTC made from Bitcoin pizzas? It's sorta funny now that the original client allowed IP transfers.

Well I registered in early 2011 and generated some of the first bitcoins in 2009 after reading the whitepaper but I have yet to post! So I'd like to get active in the forums so I suppose I must start from scratch and post here now Doubt anyone really reads these posts in this huge thread but does anyone remember joining the IRC channel which was used for connecting to other nodes back in the day? There were only a few users there in 2009 so a few of us where there talking. Old days now... back then you could send from IP to IP with a message attached I think. So I remember sending a few coins to people and asking them to join!
