Viscious defender of Matthews Scam while it was going.

It is needless for an indivual to do so when we already have reputable sites setup to host these bets.

I guess we should close up #bitcoin-otc too since there are sites setup to trade coins.   Roll Eyes

there is a large difference between trading, gambling and "gambling via insecure and unaccountable methods".

If you need more information on the subtle differences Id be happy to elaborate.

No, whether you're "Trading" or "Gambling", its the same thing.  At some point, someone's gotta pay and the counter party has already done their part and the only thing holding them to it is their honor.

So you would say that betting at the TAB is the same as betting a large unsecured amount with a random guy at the pub is the same as trading at wall street ?

1 of these things is not like the other, one of these things is not quite the same... do de do do do

Whether you're trading on a website or with a third party, you still have to trust them.  Just because you don't like Matthew doesn't mean he won't honor his obligations.  In fact, he's been around longer than your various 'safe' sites and AFAIK, he's yet to default.  So how exactly are your websites any safer?

More specifically, why should n00bs trust you over someone else, Mr. I just registered 4 months ago?

The fact that you trade with randoms to a degree of success on #bitcoin-otc speaks well for its community but offers absolutely 0 accountability.

Randoms?  They're established identities no less than your sites are.  What info do your sites publish as to who they are?  Has that info been vetted or is another Tom Williams and all the info is just fake?

There are others, but imho imsaguy is either a dangerous idiot or a shill or Matthew.

Given Matthews personality type, he most likely has multiple accounts lurking to defend himself and promote his latest shitty exists only in name businesses.

And to think, I was gonna go look for the bitcoin magazine at Barnes and Noble tomorrow.

Bitcoin Magazine published a statement yesterday regarding Matthew's resignation:

Quote
The Board of Directors of Bittalk Media Ltd., publisher of Bitcoin Magazine, has accepted resignation of Matthew N. Wright from the position of Director of Bittalk Media Ltd and from the position of Editor In Chief of Bitcoin Magazine effective immediately.

Matthew is just a troubled kid with delusions of the grandeur.
Given enough time and failures he will mature Im sure.

It still amazes me anyone would do business with such an abusive unprofessional loud mouth, much less be goaded into betting with him to defend your position.

lol @ chock it in your pucket.

directly inspired by an episode of the big bang Smiley
Come, have a go on the nerdiest bitcoin game.

Nice, you should do a rock paper scissors lizard satoshi

Quote
It's very simple.
Scissors cuts paper.
Paper covers rock.
Rock crushes lizard.
Lizard poisons Satoshi.
Satoshi has no need for scissors.

Scissors decapitates lizard.
Lizard eats paper.
Paper identifies Satoshi.
Satoshi mines rock.
And as it always has, rock crushes scissors.

Ive been sharing a few in this thread:

891  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: September 10, 2012, 02:40:36 AM
- WARNING -

Do not be goaded into betting with Matthew the editor of the Bitcoin Magazine or any other forum bully.
Please ignore bullies like Matthew that demand you either enter into an insecure bet with themselves to support your argument or STFU. Most of us live in free countries where we do not have to pay for the privilege to have an opinion.
It is needless for an unaccountable individual to host bets, when we already have reputable sites setup to do so.
- He is very eager to bet a LOT of money without escrow
- He can "trust" you basically over nothing
- He is suddenly very unwilling and unresponsive when you makes step towards getting an actual escrow.
- The form of the bet is very un-professionnal as far as big bets goes
Even if Matthew does payout, it sets a horrible trend for people trusting unaccountable unknown people with large sums of money (ie pirate).

Called it.

Bad Luck Matthew Strikes Again

894  Economy / Gambling / Re: I'm offering 100% ROI to anyone who thinks I don't have 1,000BTC to pay out. on: September 10, 2012, 02:20:47 AM
That's right! There are now literally hundreds of people who have missed the entire point of the Pirate bet (Don't accuse people. harass them, and pretend you know what you're talking about) and have now begun to harass me, thinking I don't have even 1,000BTC and that I'm -only- risking my forum account. That's just ignorant.

So it seems I have to impose another FUD tax on the community. I will prove I have over 1,000BTC freely available to me. If you do not believe this will happen, place your bets here in the following format:

Code:
20BTC
13dSK4663Ts7j2PwHS1eUVjycKLBwx7PJM
Optional comment

I will be accepting up to 100BTC in bets. When the 100BTC is reached, I will prove that I have over 1,000BTC to my person and you will lose the bet. If I cannot, then the entire community would know if I was going to scam them in this bet thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=103059

Let the games begin!

Bumping for the stupid (thats your Matthew).
895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: September 10, 2012, 02:15:34 AM
I'll have to order another issue after this announcement.

LOL.

Is it too late for me to place a bet?

Bet me, I bet that Matthew collects a Darwin award, any against ?
898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I'm giving 100% ROI away to anyone who thinks pirate is a fraud on: September 10, 2012, 01:44:51 AM
Matthew you have been hit by the:

Normally the tax is not so high, but it seems you have a lot of back dated stupid invoices.
899  Other / Off-topic / Re: (POLL!) Will Matthew pay out on his 80k BTC bet? on: September 09, 2012, 03:31:28 PM

Haha!  Awesome Tongue

Anyway, I would expect that it would take some time for Matthew to start working through the payments he owes, but we should expect to start seeing them soon, at least, assuming he intends to pay up.

Indeed. If I lose the bet, it would take a bit of time, but not too much. Don't forget it's almost 1am here.

would you mind to tell us when you plan to start payments and how long you expect to them to take?

btw. thanks for your nice hedging opportunity

hey Matt, isnt it time to put your money where that big mouth of yours is ?
