881  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-03-30] Chipotle plans to give away $100,000 in both Bitcoin and free food on: March 31, 2021, 11:01:28 PM
I might be the only person who is more excited about winning the free food than winning the bitcoin hehehe. It also appears that bitcoin is becoming as a type of marketing device. Might it be an indicator that we are nearing all time high?

Bitcoin has been a marketing device for some time now.

Do you remember all these companies like overstock who got a boost in sales when they added bitcoin payments?

Do you remember how Mcafee became famous again for talking about bitcoin and then he used that fame to pump shitcoins for money?

I'd be excited about the food too if only I had a Chipotle in my town.  Grin
882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC was a lifetime chance and I don't think we will see a similar opportunity on: March 31, 2021, 09:31:48 PM
We are all early adopters of bitcoin even if we are not in era of bitcoin airdrop but we still meet it early development and most of those that received bitcoin airdrop may have sold it when it got to $0.50 that is a long time ago.

You are right. We are all early in the game and being early does not guarantee big profit.

There are screenshots of people's tweets and posts about how they sold their coins when they reached 3x or 5x profit on their sub $10 bitcoin investment. Would you rather be one of those people OP?

I'd prefer to have joined in 2019 and held than in 2010 and sold after a year.
883  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Is the Best Stable Coin for Saving? on: March 31, 2021, 09:00:33 PM
I will use something like AAVE or Blockfi to get interest on these dollar begged coins but I'm clueless as to which one should I go for? USDC seems to be a great option but a few questions come to mind:

Do you mean pegged? It came out pretty funny anyway.

I wouldn't trust stablecoins enough to try to hold them for a long time and expect big profit. I'd especially stay away from USDt.

Remember that despite being pegged which means they're following fiat prices they are still cryptocurrencies and as those they depend on the whole market. They can stand certain amount of volatility but if the crypto boom ends somehow it will also crash stablecoins. I'd rather choose bitcoin or a decentralized privacy coin than a stablecoin for long term holding.
884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin halal? on: March 31, 2021, 08:43:33 PM
However, gambling, lending, and some kinds of trading with cryptocurrency are almost certainly forbidden.

Then don't gamble, lend and trade for profit.

It's hard for me to believe that all those rich Muslims who bathe in oil money don't ever invest in stocks or trade fiat currencies. They do and they don't think it's something against their religion.

Also, many things are forbidden in many religions and people still do them and later pray a bit, apologize, confess and keep on living. Rules are made by people and people can break them.
885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's gonna buy Tesla using Bitcoin? on: March 31, 2021, 08:07:22 PM
If I had the opportunity to buy a Tesla using Cryptocurrencies, I would gladly grab it. I always thought of it as something useful since I would not have to think about its value and any current moment because paying with something volatile can be good for me in a number of ways. The Car that I have bought would not depreciate within a year or two so as long as its usable and already paid in whole in Bitcoin, that car is mine. If Bitcoin's value increases or even decreases, I already paid what I needed to accumulate so paying with Crypto can really be great.

So instead of holding something that appreciates in value you'd rather buy an expensive car that quickly depreciates and has an expensive battery that needs to be replaced at your cost every few years?

The logic of this is beyond me Cheesy

You also believe that your tesla would not depreciate in the first 2 years which is pretty amazing Cheesy Every car depreciates in value and they lose the most in the first 2 years! Usually about 20%
886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A quick thought on how to help/save bitcoin. on: March 31, 2021, 07:43:59 PM
It would do a lot a few years ago where awareness was much lower. Now with high awareness and high price there's hardly any people who don't know about bitcoin.

Maybe in poor societies you could still educate people but this won't move the price. Poor people don't have a lot to spend and the rich already know about this investment opportunity.

Tweeting and stuff is always good but I don't think it's going to move the price. You need millions of dollars to do anything.
887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal created crypto checkout service!! on: March 30, 2021, 09:59:00 PM
I was negative when I first heard about them because PayPal's reputation was never pristine and I thought this would be a way for them to get more customers and gain more popularity. When you couldn't withdraw it really looked bad for their clients.

Now I see they're going the right way and it could really mean they mean business and are trying to get more involved. Let's see what happens but for now it looks promising.
888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government ban on crypto on: March 30, 2021, 09:17:27 PM
governments all over the world ban bitcoin and this is not new and bitcoin is increasingly in demand. Big investors have jumped into the world of crypto and they are collecting bitcoin as an asset in the future.

Mostly unstable governments who fear for their fiat currency.

Banning bitcoin tells the world they're vulnerable and weak. It's one of the worst things you can do to your country's economy and status on the global arena.

I'm not scared of bans because in the EU it's already legalized and many countries are trying to invite crypto businesses by lowering taxes.
889  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing only for the rich? Think again on: March 30, 2021, 08:47:06 PM
Anyone can be an investor, rich or not doesn't mean much, agreed the rich have better opportunity to invest in any company they chose to invest on because of their huge capital, but there are opportunities for none rich people too, all you need is know the right place to invest on.

Rich or not means a lot Wink It even rhymes!

The rich can invest more without fear which means they don't suffer such a big loss, they aren't scared and can sleep well, they buy a larger piece so they make more money when it goes up.
It's much harder to become poor when you're rich than rich when you're poor.

You're right that we all can invest but don't say that it doesn't matter how much money we have because it does.
890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's gonna buy Tesla using Bitcoin? on: March 30, 2021, 08:36:10 PM
I would never by a Tesla at the price it is now. It's just too expensive and doesn't offer anything that I'd really want in a car.

I don't want my car to be too dependent on electronics and when one of these little things fail I cannot drive anymore. Door handles come out when you come close to the car and if this gets damaged somehow you can't even get in. It has a failing autopilot, almost nobody can fix it but the dealership, you need a charging station at home or charging will last forever... It's just an expensive burden.
891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will ADA and eth competitors get dumped if/when Ethereum 2.0 comes out? on: March 30, 2021, 01:02:59 AM
ADA was popular long before the talks about 2.0 and it's one of those coins that will remain in the top.

For a long time I had some ADA and kept telling people that XRP, BCH and BSV are shitcoins that will never reach any real adoption and die when people see how bad they are. At that time both BCH and XRP were in the top 5 on CMC and BSV was in the top 10. 2 years later XRP is 7, BCH is 14, BSV is 30 and this won't last. They are going to go even lower.

ADA and ETH are both strong and important coins. They will still be here in a year or 2, don't worry.
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I went big into Bitcoin and Ethereum... on: March 30, 2021, 12:10:30 AM
Personally i don't like coinbase. I don't recommend anyone using coinbase. Because there are so many victim i saw that they hold Bitcoin and other coin in coinbase and after that they can't transfer their coin. I don't know why that happened. I also don't know that if the coinbase team fix this problem or not. As soon as possible transfer your coin, this will be better for you.

I used coinbase for a bit but their frequent changes to TOS, inquires about my source of funds and problems with accounts that other users reported made me change my mind about them.

There are one of the most popular and most secure exchanges out there but don't expect any privacy if you trade there.

I don't think that OP is at any risk if he's holding coins there for a week or so waiting for the hardware wallet to arrive but as soon as it does he should move everything there.
893  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Way to Carry Your Seed When Traveling Or Moving Abroad? on: March 28, 2021, 11:12:46 PM
Write it down, put it in a condom, shove it up your ass, pretty simple. You’re very unlikely to get cavity searched if you’re a normal looking guy, behaving sensibly at the airport.

Wouldn't it better to put it inside the capsule made of bio-inert material and get it down. Then the capsule  should pass through your digestive apparatus in due time. The main thing is not to eat on the plane, so that the capsule  does not come out in the latrine directly on board, otherwise you will need to ingest it again.

Sounds like a plan Cheesy Especially that swallowing for the second time. What if you don't eat but get scared and have to use the toilet mid-flight? What if you happen to get cavity searched anyway because they pick you up at random or you resemble someone they're looking for? I'd like to see you explain what that thing stuck in your anus is  Grin

There are much easier ways. Take a computer with you. Each time I've traveled with a laptop I only had to show it to them and sometimes power it up just so that the screen loads and they'd allow me to go. If you're scared about somebody stealing it or whatever just write down the seed on a piece of paper and load it into the wallet once you arrive at your destination.
894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the official uses of bitcoin other then trading? on: March 28, 2021, 10:06:42 PM
There's nothing like an official us, OP.

You can Bitcoin for whatever purpose you want to. It doesn't follow any laws outside of its own protocol.

If you decide to pay with Bitcoin for your girlfriend's breast implants, buy drugs, hire a hitman like Ross, you can do it.
You can save up, hide your income, speculate, bitcoin doesn't judge, only people do.
895  Economy / Economics / Re: Strong kyc reason on: March 27, 2021, 09:11:42 PM
Did you even understand what you wrote, OP ?

Banks do not make money from KYC, it is necessary by law to know your customer, got all the information about their identity and possibly more. In my country it has come to much more than simple id checks , they ask proof of any transactions in your bank account, this is too much in my view.

By law? That's a good one.

Who makes laws? The governments.

Who owns central banks? The governments.

Who decides whether to bail out banks or not? The governments.

Who profits if you take credit in their central bank? The governments.

Who loses if instead of holding their fiat money you decide to store wealth in bitcoin? You should know the answer by now Wink
896  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you guys happy if bitcoin will dropped to $10k? Why? on: March 27, 2021, 07:32:01 PM
$10 000 has always been a very important psychological barrier, and before that the same thing happened with $1000. People are always weak at such numbers, and that will never change. If you ask people what interests them most at the moment, I believe many would ask the question "When BTC $100k"?

You're right, people say these things, but if 1000 was a real barrier then why didn't we stop at that in 2013. The top on bitstamp was 1163. Then again when we revisited this level in 2017 we didn't stop at 1000 buy 1139, so each time we went 10% above. People like to talk big like 100thousand dollar bitcoin, but when push comes to shove we will either stop far below it or overshoot.

Quote
There is definitely truth in what you wrote, because such a big correction would mean that something terrible happened, maybe not exclusively related to Bitcoin, but something like declaring a world pandemic. I agree that there is too much money in the game right now, and that it is definitely not as easy to manipulate the market as it used to be.

We've seen what pandemic news can do to price in 2020, so sure, such events can make us go below expected levels but these drops should theoretically be short-lived.
897  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor One vs Ledger Nano S-which one is safer? on: March 27, 2021, 07:14:39 PM
I'll try to answer the more important ones, since some were already cleared and don't leave any grounds for discussion

Quote
1.Which one is more secure when it comes to connecting to PC (i don't plan to use smartphones)?
Quote
2.What will happen if I have etc. Trezor and it get broken/lost/malfunctioned-can I still retrieve coins if that happens?

I have ledger, but they're pretty much the same. Ledgetr had a database leak and some guys managed to break into Trezor by exploiting a vulnerability.
https://blog.kraken.com/post/3662/kraken-identifies-critical-flaw-in-trezor-hardware-wallets/

They're both still very secure and only a handful of people around the world have the knowledge to even attempt to crack them. Such attempt would take a lot of time and you'd be able to access your wallet from the seed and move the coins.

Remember that everything can be stolen but you can minimize the damage by being smart, having backups and limiting physical access to your hardware wallet.

898  Economy / Speculation / Re: How far below $10k in 2021? on: March 25, 2021, 06:27:56 PM
This is absolutely correct. When you go above a price, you never go down that price, and it will stay like that for a veeeery long time.
Not above any price, only above the all time high. Reach ATH for the second time makes it into a permanent support.

I'm not saying it's impossible but going below an ATH that was reached twice but that would be the first after least 3 big cycles in the last 10 years that did not go there. If people abandon bitcoin and move to something else this will have to happen, but I don't see signs of anything like that.

We are still early in Bitcoin's life and it's not going to become obsolete this or next year. In the meantime, get ready for another cycle and another after that.

899  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: This is why you DON'T want go short now 84% of the bearish options has wiped out on: March 25, 2021, 06:15:05 PM
It's not hard to see that we had a new high followed by a correction and another new high that we're correcting from now. There's no bull market reversal, no big dump from ATH only a slow bleed as traders take profit. Those traders will buy back at lower levels, levels higher than the last dip of 43000.

When you see a real top you'll see the bubble has popped. We will correct about 50% in 1 day, just like in 2013 and 2018. If I had no coins now I'd be setting up for a buy at 45-48 thousand.

900  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't buy this dip yet! on: March 25, 2021, 01:26:08 PM
Given all the positive news about Bitcoin lately, I think you’d be wise to buy sooner rather than later. This Friday’s options expiry could very well be the last chance to buy before the next leg up. The important thing is to not buy using leverage and to not buy unless you’re going to hold until it hits your predetermined sell point.

In the long run whatever you do you will be satisfied.

I remember talking with friends about buying in 2018 and some bought and regretted it, some did not buy. In the end those who did not buy never could find the right time and price to do it. It was always too expensive for them. Those who had regrets but held, eventually got so much profit that they turned into permanent holders. When I asked them a few days ago if they're planning to sell what they bought in 2018 they said no Cheesy
