901  Economy / Economics / Re: Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: June 26, 2023, 11:53:54 PM
In my current situation, where I live and the condition in the area. I am renting a flat in a big city metropolitan area, working on a company that earns good salaries that is enough to fulfill my needs,  while I am paying mortgage, buying piece of land in some village remote  -but not very remote- area that is still developing and will be at least a small city with good public facility in 5-10 Years.

My plan is either I want to just move there where the area is developed enough or rather just sell it if I can at least doubled the price.
I think your condition is actually in pretty good shape. So whatever choice you take, I think it can still be a good thing and quite profitable. but if you can still continue to earn more from your current job and can pay rent and also can even repay or buy property in rural areas then I think it's better for you to continue as you are now. ie produce more and buy more land property in the countryside. and the land property will even continue even if you don't sell it now. so that's me then I'm not going to sell it. because it will continue to multiply year after year if it is not sold.

Not to lecture or anything. Even though I bought the land for investment and speculation, but I don't think hoarding land investment is a good thing and ethical, this is what made housing market soaring, it makes people who actually needs housing can't afford any, and I just don't want to be part of the cause. I don't have problem with people who are doing that, I still think they shouldn't do that, but government still allowing land and real-estate to be hoarded as investment so yeah, people can do what they want, but I just won't do it.

If you think that hoarding land for profit is unethical and not good, then investing and speculating in your land is no different than hoarding land. So your statements are contradictory in the first place. If holding land to get rich is unethical, what is holding bitcoin called? Because you are also contributing to the price of bitcoin and making it difficult for many people to buy bitcoin. Just like land, hoarders will be happy when the price rises, but those who need it will buy it at a very high price, and this applies to all properties, not just real estate.

Your first statement might be arguable, some people think that might be contradictory, but for me I am not directly contribute to the housing problem because I only buy what I need, I don't buy many lands/housing that I don't need and just speculate on it, I only buy land that I need to build a house that I need, so I only buy the thing that I need. It's only bad if someone buy large/multiple area of land / housing that they don't need and speculate on it. For short, I don't contribute to housing problem since I am not hoarding house for investment, but I take advantage of it and that is also big if, if I sell my land, which is not my initial intention.

That was your first point, while your 2nd point comparing Bitcoin and Housing is very much non-sense. No one ever really need Bitcoin for their live, have you ever seen what happened to people who can't afford to buy/rent a place to live, they are very much in trouble. Now, have you seen what happened to people who can't or don't -because using bitcoin is optional- use Bitcoin, they still enjoying their live. So, in short speculate on housing/land is taking people's right of affordable housing, while speculating on Bitcoin won't give any significant effect on other people's life, so it's totally different

When you buy land/bitcoin to speculate for profit, you are affecting other people's lives. All are financial markets, and money is not born on its own, but from person to person. I mean, when you take profit, it means someone bought at a higher price and suffered a loss. The marketplace is a battleground where smart people win by taking money from other stupid investors. It's a financial harshness that many people don't understand.
The government doesn't print money and distributes it to all of us for free, bitcoin/land, the price increase is due to speculation by people like you and me, all of us. Every market will have winners and losers, no market will all win.

You don't get my point, sure speculating on Bitcoin mean it will make bitcoin price go higher and affect on other people's live. But are the effects at the same level that created by the housing market price soaring and people can't afford housing, please elaborate on what happened to people when they CAN'T AFFORD to buy Bitcoin, -not because they lose some money because they recklessly invest on it- do they suffer? do they struggling to keep their job because they life on the street? do they expose to criminality because they have no house as a safe place? because it happened to people who can't afford house, That's why comparing Bitcoin and Housing market is just non-sense
902  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A Dumb way to scam forum members on: June 26, 2023, 06:10:49 AM
that's like more than decades old type of Scamming MO, and moreover newbie account, if anyone would fall for that scam, then they deserve to be scammed, no sympathy. But I believe people in this forum should have better judgement.
903  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's get rid of all regulations, what can possibly go wrong on: June 26, 2023, 06:06:02 AM
Society without regulation and government is totally non-sense, but society with different type of government and different way of how regulation were made than today is not impossible. All that being said, and however I said that today's government is not perfect and has many flaw, I still can't think of any different governmental form that could be applied instantly on todays society. A government when oligarch is not on top of them, and money and power is not always above everything, seems perfect but it definitely is utopian.
904  Economy / Economics / Re: does bitcoin help in your economy? on: June 26, 2023, 05:54:53 AM
Not directly, I mean I don't just buy Bitcoin and then sell it for multiple value. But I am benefiting from the crypto industry that is initiated by Bitcoin, I am working as a freelance graphic designer and most of my client now come from crypto Industry. And I think today millions of people is working in crypto industry, and if not because of Bitcoin this industry might not even exist.
905  Economy / Economics / Re: The SEC is right. It's not about Bitcoin, it's about centralized shitcoins. on: June 26, 2023, 01:12:13 AM
I agreed that what SEC do to proven centralized crypto to make it a security and demand for authorization of exchange is more right than wrong and they not targeting Bitcoin, but it's not because they don't want but because they can't if they have even slight chance to do the same to Bitcoin they will. And even with what they are doing now, Bitcoin still got the collateral damage.

I don't believe that SEC doing it to protect the public, if they were protecting the public at all, there is more cheating stock broker than unauthorized crypto securities out there need to be punished.
906  Economy / Economics / Re: Does "our" world here still exist? on: June 26, 2023, 12:38:52 AM
First of all, it seems like your post are in the wrong section, it should be in Politics & Society. You really don't talk anything about Economy in this post.

I got some of your point, you are being judge because of your political believes, tho it is wrong, but it's not without a reason. Conservatives people who are loud in public and social media are actually racist, I have some conservative friends and definitely know that they are good people, they just want to protect their value in their own private life, not forcing it to anyone else, but they are not loud they keep silence, while the loud ones spreading hate towards minority and the vulnerable.

I wouldn't share anything towards my opinion about Covid since it's in the past, it's one of the dark path of humanity, whatever happened it's bad but it has passed, you can believe what you believe, and you shouldn't be silenced for that, as long as you are not endangering other people's life.
907  Economy / Economics / Re: 85% of AI start-ups will fail within 3 years. on: June 26, 2023, 12:23:46 AM
This is kinda true, tho I am not sure about the number of 85% since I never do any research on it, but I think it's about the right number. And it's not only AI, it happened in almost all break-through project. Like DeFi, in the previous trend or even more common industry like Online Transportation like Uber and Grab, there used to be a lot like this project but then only few is thrive and successful. User will slowly move to one project that are truly know what the users need, some industry doesn't even take up to 3 years to eliminate some projects.

909  Economy / Reputation / Re: What should I do if I think somebody soon will scam someone? on: June 24, 2023, 08:14:09 AM
All you got is only circumstantial evidence, if you really want to tie both account, you will need at least to prove that both account use same bitcoin/other crypto address or if they use/refer to same non-bitcointalk account.
I also don't think tagging the account in any way is fair and it's not necessary, it's a newbie account for now, so people wouldn't be just trusting him/her with some money.
910  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by a domain name "Buyer"... Sent me Bitcoin through a fake exchange. on: June 24, 2023, 07:56:07 AM
This an old MO, I got many fake client tried to scam me with this kind of MO, they ask me to make an account on their fake exchange, make that it seems like my account has been sent some Bitcoin but then I cannot withdraw it except I deposit some money to meet the minimal withdrawal/or for verification. If you have already deposited some money then there is nothing you can do.

What you can do now is share all the accounts that is used by the scammers, so people will aware.
911  Other / Meta / Re: A concise 2FA/TOTP implementation (SMF patch) on: June 24, 2023, 07:37:44 AM
Did some people actually defending the lack of extra security for their account? I mean why? if they don't want it they can just turn it off, but it always good to have an option.
More and more of my internet accounts require 2FA nowadays, and most of them don't allow me to turn it off. It's mainly needed because of the people who don't use proper passwords, share them everywhere, and have a system filled with malware. Those same websites nowadays run a timer to kick you out after a few minutes of inactivity, which makes it even more annoying. To me, 2FA is just a hassle. I have old Gmail accounts that don't let me login with my password anymore.
This makes me truely appreciate the old fashed forums that just keep me logged in for years. A browser cookie is very convenient.

That being said: as long as it's optional, I'm not against it. But would it really help if someone gains physical access to my mobile phone? I don't want to lose the convenience of being logged in when I use it.

Google Authenticator just told me I can now backup my 2FA codes in the cloud. Lol.

Well, seems like we both have totally different experience of 2FA, almost all 2FA that I have are optional, exchange, game account, etc, except Internet Banking, it's not optional, but I think thats necessary. I would definitely against mandatory 2FA, moreover if it required user to input their phone number or download an app, anything that labeled 'Extra' should be optional IMHO. But then again if it's optional then it's always good to have an option.

And I believe we also had very different experience and behavior of using mobile phone, I got everything in my mobile phone, 2FA, internet banking, online marketplace that have my credit card, .etc so if I lose my phone I will immediately locked it. I have back up code for my 2FA tho so it will be easy to just install 2FA in other phone recover it.
912  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you start your posting life as a newbie??? only for full mem, Sr and leg on: June 24, 2023, 03:55:16 AM
I don't think there is any magic or secret to be an active member, some people are just up for discussion anytime on any topic, some are up for certain time and certain topic, some are just like to read and observe, so if you wish to be higher rank member in a quicktime then you better be up for discussion anytime on any topic, but it will likely that you post some spam and its not good.

For me personally I just do what I enjoy, I never think about my rank, or merit or anything, I post anything that I want, whenever I want, never have any schedule too.
913  Economy / Economics / Re: Is poverty a lack of money? on: June 24, 2023, 03:46:56 AM
It's not always money, it's more of opportunity, when people don't even have the opportunity to make money or to put food on the table, (like it's impossible to get a job) then the people has fallen to poverty. If you still have farm, then you still have opportunity to fill your needs.
914  Economy / Economics / Re: Look for what to invest, not what to eat on: June 24, 2023, 03:42:44 AM
I don't know why some people in this platform are looking for what to eat at the moment, not know that they can invest in a potential projects that will put food on their table, and they will not lack what to eat and what to spend in future. I saw some message in the Bitcointalk.org where some users are trying to sell their account just to get what to eat not knowing that they can use that account to work to get a huge capital that will bring them out from poverty, and make food surplus in their home. I knew some senior members in this forum that started using member rank to work before they get to legendary to spread many investments around the country, because they didn't look for what to eat at the moment than to work hard to used their opportunities to invested in BTC before they became who they are today.
Will you invest now or you will be like that person that is looking for what to eat? It will be favourable if you can change that attitude of selling what will make you great in future just because of what will survive you at the moment. No way you will invest in BTC today and you will not have something good to eat because, investment is like a seed planted in a due season to expect something good in the future. Is it a good thing to invest or is good to continue looking for what to eat?
What do you think.

You really have never needs to worry about what to eat for tomorrow, or if you can eat anything at all. For some people eating regularly is even luxury. You will not, even slightly, think about any investment if you still need to worry whether you will eat tomorrow or not man. It is good that you criticize how some people are just looking for some cheap money on this forum, but your argument was just really ignorant and arrogant.
915  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Duelbits, $500,000 unresolved problem on: June 23, 2023, 11:00:00 PM
Your comments have been noted and we agree to disagree because I am saying my assumption is correct Grin

Keeping aside our differences of opinion related to this matter, what do you think the OP should do next in order to try have access to the funds he claims were scammed. Apart from proceeding via a legal channel what else would you suggest and do you think he should appoint a lawyer to represent him?

Im not saying Duelbit acammed or not but im saying your ssumation and logic are very wrong

I get your point, and I agree that the only thing OP can do is pursue this matter through legal action.
But what other people asking here is 'What could DuelBits do better in this matter?' your previous post seems to imply that DuelBit shouldn't be 'punish' for what they've done to the OP, and they are not obligated to do more effort to find the best way to solve the problem.

I am not saying that the OP is 100% right and DuelBits is scamming, OP has sent step-by-step the details on how he acquire the fund he use to gamble, but seems like nothing is right, and theres no details on what is wrong, only shallow explanation that it's not align with their system.

The next question would be what would the other gamblers do? should they keep depositing money to the site while they know Duelbits could do the same to them as they do the the OP.
916  Economy / Economics / Re: Rent or buy real estate - let's have a debate on: June 23, 2023, 10:39:06 PM
right, assuming it looks wise to respond to problems, but that looks just lol because it's not quite right. he doesn't think the future of being a parent is heavier. for example if I have a large area of land, continue to make a rented house at a lower cost than the others. this could have the effect of possibly being more mitigating than spending big money. many people rent houses complaining of high costs out of necessity due to circumstances that make it more normal to work

Sorry I don't fully understand the meaning of your post here, I am not against buying house tho, just like I said in my first reply, I will build a house (on the land I already owned) when the area has become advanced with many public facility, and I also think people should buy house if they want to make family, it needed to make the family stable and feel secured.

What I won't do is hoarding real-estate and land for investment, because this is the main reason why people couldn't afford housing today.
917  Other / Meta / Re: A concise 2FA/TOTP implementation (SMF patch) on: June 23, 2023, 10:32:42 PM

I'm not sure why the average opinion changed like that (maybe because 2FA on SMF became such an unlikely idea that people started "defending" the lack of it?), but I align with the more optimistic group and think that a correctly implemented TOTP option makes a ton of sense (even for SMF).

Did some people actually defending the lack of extra security for their account? I mean why? if they don't want it they can just turn it off, but it always good to have an option.

I read the whole OP post, several times, but I didn't find what type of 2FA would be implemented, will it be Email based, or using 3rd party App, or mobile messaging. The least effort might be Email since we already registered our email in this forum, but wouldn't it be less effective since most of the hacked account got their email hacked too? I mean if the account is hacked and the email is not hacked, than we could just use 'Forgot Password' to recover the account,
918  Other / Meta / Re: Why do you browse the forum without notification? on: June 23, 2023, 10:24:01 PM
I use the Telegram Bot Notification, and it's very useful if you are an active poster, but I am not always an active poster. Like one or two weeks I actively post, and then the next couple weeks I will just be a silent reader, mainly because I am not always up for discussion, just observing what is happening in the forum. So to answer your question, not everyone is up for discussion some of us just want to get some news of the forum (and crypto in general), thats why we just browse the forum.
919  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: New Mystic Stealer targets 40 web browsers and crypto wallets on: June 23, 2023, 10:25:01 AM
Just read the link provided by OP at the bottom here https://inquest.net/blog/2023/06/15/mystic-stealer-new-kid-block.

I try to find how to spot if my system is compromise, but there is no easy way to detect that, usually we can spot a malware by its process name on the 'Task Manager' (on windows) or Activity Monitor (for Mac). But in the article there is no way do such thing to spot the malware, the only thing to do was trace the network route, whether or not our browser send some data to certain server, which might be just few easy step for some people, but for someone that are not too savvy with networking that will be quite tricky to do.
920  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I have Traveled on all Thailand and Spending only Crypto! on: June 23, 2023, 10:11:44 AM
Look Man, I read the title of you thread, and I got excited that I might find some good stories of travel and crypto, but here I am, reading only a couple of sentences from you and then just post your link. You disappointed me and probably many other people.
I am actually from neighboring country of Thailand, I visited Thailand once, but don't have any experience related to crypto. I would be very interested to travel to Thailand only using crypto, If you are actually traveling to Thailand share us some actual story, please. Otherwise you are just a liar.
