921  Economy / Economics / Re: If They Can Pay off their Debts, Why Don't They? on: September 30, 2023, 03:16:05 PM
-snip-I am not an economist so my question would be directed to those who understand economics and government administration. If a country is capable of paying off her debts, why don't they? Obviously , these developed countries I believe are capable of offsetting their debts because they even render aids to other developing nations.
Secondly, are there any benefits, economic or otherwise of a country being in debt?

1. https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/slideshows/top-10-countries-with-the-heaviest-burden-of-debt?onepage
I'm not someone who understands much about economics.
Have you ever read that the United States has almost failed to pay its debts, so even though they are a developed country or could be said to be rich, there is still the possibility of defaulting on their debts, and as far as I know, these debts are not entirely debts from the state but also debts from private parties.
Debt is not because they are experiencing financial difficulties but is also a strategy for countries to depend on each other so that no country can exist without another country, except for poor countries which are in debt because they need it or like a trap from rich countries to take their natural resources because they know they will have difficulty paying.
I agree with you, plus it is best to know that good debt management can help a country's capacity to invest in their economic future for the sake of education, infrastructure, health care, agriculture, and even for the people. The limited revenue countries have sometimes cannot be enough for their proposed projects that are made for the betterment of the country, hence their government chooses to borrow money from other countries.
922  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: September 30, 2023, 02:51:04 PM
If there are employees who want to retire early, it means they already have good savings accumulated, or their plan is to build a business with their retirement pay. That's good if they can stick to their planned plans. Because if not, they might say to themselves in the end "I wish I hadn't retired early".

Because I have seen a lot of people who retired early, they didn't make their plans, or others who built a business didn't grow or manage the business they built properly, and the rest of the retirement pay they received just went to luxury and unnecessary things that did not produce income for them.
Retirement is usually done at an older age. If it's done early, I think there is also another term for that. There are reasons on why an employee can do it and you already gave a few of them. Another main reason is they can't stand the environment that they are working with.

For those who don't have enough savings, I think they are still qualified to apply and work for another job. It's not wrong to treat our selves with the things that we are always dreaming of. We work hard for a long time so we deserved them. We can still sell them if we are in trouble financially and we wouldn't regret it totally because we already experience using them.
Good point here. Yes, there are various reasons why individuals chooses to retire early as every single one of us have different situation that some may not be able to understand. I'm sure no one will just retire without a valid, especially if they are aware that their job is the main source of their income.

Your example reminds me of an elder I know who retired due to old age, but since he's still physically suitable for work he found other easier job with shorter working hours to spend his free time in and make more money that can provide for his everyday needs.
923  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and it effects on: September 30, 2023, 12:38:04 AM
People who stay in the gambling house to look for fortune are those who often find misfortune for themselves. The gambling house is not a place to make money, but rather a money sink that a lot of people often fall prey into. If they did honest work and actually tried to make money using the traditional way, they would have gotten far better in life. However, people are so used to get-rich-quick schemes that they are just wasting their time and their money by looking at the wrong places.
924  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Tips for Consistent Profits on: September 29, 2023, 11:19:35 PM
LOL! There are no effective betting tips for consistent profits. This is nothing but a myth. There are betting tips like OP mentioned, but they are not for consistent profits. It's simply because there are no consistent profits in gambling. If consistent profits were true following certain tips or strategies, NitroBetting itself would have already gone bankrupt. The idea of consistent profits is not true either in casinos or in sports betting. It isn't true at all.
Tips and strategies would only create a better outcome but will never generate consistent profit for the simple fact that there are no consistencies with gambling outcome. There’s no such thing as consistent ‘coz chances in every gambling game, no matter how good your analysis is, would be 50-50. Perhaps in sportsbetting, anything could happen in a match; underdogs would still be a chance. Players won’t be in the league in the first place if they aren’t capable of winning for their team. They’re all professionals. Yes, and this is applicable to all type of gambling games and especially with pure luck games or casino games such as dice, slots, & roulettes.

let us admit the reality that there is really no consistent profits that you can get in gambling. even when you dedicate yourself in sportsbetting, you can't guarantee that you will go home as a winner. but your chance will be better if you bet on sports that you are very familiar of. and maybe, check the betting lines that you think you really have higher chance of getting it right.

There could be consistent profits for a time, especially during the time of huge tournaments or competitions that are going on with the sports that you're betting with. Usually in esports, there are tournaments wherein I come out as a winner as I know the conditions of the team, their playstyles are, and which team strategies could work in a current meta. Other tournaments, I lose and just wasted my time just because I don't have enough info to base my decision in. Bottomline is, if you stay in the loop with the sports that you are betting on, you can pretty much predict the outcome of the games against each teams. You can be successful during the whole tournament's duration, and you must prepare for the next tournament in order to replicate the same success - do your homework and research the teams and their playstyle.
925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which games offer the best chance of a big win? on: September 29, 2023, 10:46:09 PM
Slots can be fun, but those massive wins are rare and mostly about luck
Yes, and many have tried it, but they really can't get big wins. They can't win big multipliers because they don't have their luck when playing slots. But some people are lucky to get big multipliers to get a lot of money.

Slots is more about being at the right place and at the right time rather than lock. It's a huge money sink, though if you are playing the said game near its 'threshold' of giving out jackpots/small wins, you're in luck. If you managed to hit it, just go to another game and come back to the same slot after a while. Idk but physical casinos have this internal threshold for slots that is programmed to give out a win after X amount of rolls. If that is the programming traditional slots machines are following, it's not far the online slots also follow the same thing, albeit a different variant or method.
926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino is a Games of Chance and Entertainment on: September 29, 2023, 10:10:00 PM
Due to the potential rewards in gambling, it's hard to overlook the fact that it can actually make you some money if you know how to be consistent and smart with your bankroll management. You are enjoying and at the same time, making money the more you play with being careful in mind. So long as there is a reward to be had in something, it will not be overlooked. While its entertainment value is there, people will still focus in gaining the reward rather than doing something because they enjoy it.
927  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Risk management and responsible gaming on: September 29, 2023, 09:27:54 PM
What you just stated here does not affect the risk management of individuals in gambling. The government enforcing restriction to gamblers is not because of their willingness to 'help' the gambler control their funds, but instead it's because of them wanting to curb the addiction of the gambler while it's still on its early stages. It has nothing to do with risk management but rather prevention of further damage to already-addicted individuals looking to change their ways.

929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if your country did not legalize cryptocurrency? on: September 29, 2023, 04:00:20 PM
quite reasonable. The government may close the activities of companies related to crypto so that we cannot access it. I think that it is sites like exchanges and others. However, we can still carry out P2P transactions in various crypto communities on social media. We just need to find a reliable escrow for that. Even though our movement is very limited, I think personally someone can still carry out crypto transactions when the country bans crypto.
However, it may take some effort to make money from crypto through trading, or anything like that, as the government will most likely ban such sites.
If breaking the laws can lead to serious consequences, then it is better to find ways in which you will not break the law, for example, go to another country to do this, where it will not be illegal, for a while. Workarounds can always be found, the main thing is to be confident in who you will make these transactions with.

My guess is that at some point governments will push CBDC and try to show how much better it is than Bitcoin, maybe it will work at first, but eventually the advantage of Bitcoin will be too obvious to deny.

Most likely there will be countries that do not legalize cryptocurrencies, there will always be those who are against it.
You do have a point about the risk and danger it brings to those who need to break the law or workaround it. However, your suggestion of them going to another country is not always possible for everyone, especially if you think about how impractical it is with how much money an individual needs to move country. Cryptocurrency brings additional income to a lot of us and to some it is their main source of everyday income and they heavily rely on it despite it being illegal on their countries so despite the danger and risk they have to face we cannot blame or criticize them for it.

930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ignore the new Apple toys & Invest in Bitcoin, history always repeat itself. on: September 29, 2023, 03:35:04 PM
Although I agree with the cogent points raised by the OP, well I will not keep to it completely. Some of these toys are what makes life easy, and fun..They bring joy no matter how little. And if I can add an ounce of ease, joy and happiness to my life through the purchase of these new Apple toys, I will.

We shouldn't think that when we buy these toys we automatically forget about investing in Bitcoin. Anyone whose DCAing would have no problem with other aspects of their lives. Because the DCA strategy sets the tone for how you fix up the rest of your life. YOLO, so make the best of it whatever way you see fit.
You have a brilliant idea as well. If it what makes us happy and we know we can afford it, then why not? Buying Apple toys does not mean it’s our priority, but rather it’s one way of motivating ourselves to work hard and invest hard so we can have something to spend in the future. But if you can do both, investing in bitcoin and at the same time buying some Apple toys, I think that will be more life’s satisfying.
Actually that's a good point. If you can buy it and it will make you happy then of course that's more than enough reason to do so, there's no need to explain to anyone why. The only reason how things like this can go bad is when we force our financial capacity to buy things like these Apple toys. It is never good to compromise much important things for things we don't particularly need, like spending all of our savings just to buy a new phone despite not completely needing it. Buying stuff like these isn't bad as long as it is still a smart purchase.
931  Economy / Economics / Re: marry rich: marry fiat rich or crypto rich, which is better? on: September 29, 2023, 03:09:30 PM
None is better, since getting married over wealth is also not a good option to consider,
Instead I will rather like the question to come this way; being fair rich, crypto rich or which ever form of wealth you will like to add to the question, I will then have to chose from their, if am a crypto millionaire today, what I have is also equal to what I can have in fiat if I want to, but what I have in fiat can also at the same time some times be close to what i can have in crypto the difference is that their are limitations to how much of the fait i can be able to spend or use per day, which is not the same to that of crypto m, so I will rather be a crypto millionaire myself and a fiat thousandaire that way I will be safer as I will have need to spend few fiat couple of times i and I will not have to go through conversion process that time.

It’s better to have my own money than depend on spouse own wealth. That’s just my own point.
While each of us have our own criteria in choosing who to marry and be our partner, I personally agree with you. Instead of relying and depending on my partner's wealth and income, I choose to make my own money and have the goal of being financially stable. To know that that the money I have comes from my own hard work, actions, and decisions rather than someone else (of course this is a personal choice). Moreover, there is also the benefit it will bring to my future family kids to have parents that both make money for the good of our family's financial status.
932  Economy / Economics / Re: Has everyone become too pesimistic about the economy? on: September 29, 2023, 02:41:36 PM
I have generally felt a negative sentiment towards the economy recently from all sources that I have come in contact with. Physical (word of mouth), Social (twitter, IG, Facebook), I hear jokes/remarks in the office. My gut feeling. Hopefully everything ends out alright, our best bet is to challenge that inner negative feeling and speak out agains all the negativity and hope for positive outcomes.
Negative sentiment has become more pronounced lately. Several months ago I was still optimistic about the economic condition of my country. But now it seems that more people are complaining that the economy is getting more difficult. In several areas of my country there is even a market which is usually always busy with visitors who want to shop. But in the last few weeks it has been reported that visitors to the market have decreased drastically. I initially thought that this might be what is called a recession. where people's purchasing power has indeed seen a decline. But then the thought was resolved. It turns out that the majority of people here now shop online. So it's not surprising that traditional markets are quiet. my only worry is dealing with the current hot weather. which brought the agricultural sector to a standstill. and caused food prices to increase drastically.
I relate to you and I'm sure others as well. Sometimes no matter how optimistic we want to be when we are surrounded by negative things that are happening and by people who are obviously affected by these things, we sometimes can't help but feel a hint of pessimism. For example, although I try to stay positive, whenever I go online and visit my social media account I see posts about how people are having a hard time and bad experience dealing with the effects and situations due to inflation it makes me feel bad and it makes me worry about everything.
933  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you deal with financial stress? on: September 29, 2023, 01:53:20 PM
no need to be too stressed about it. just prepare well. for example if we want to deal with inflation. we just have to really manage our money well. The main thing is that we have to really hold back expenses unless it is really necessary. if we need it according to our prestige. of course economic pressure will continue to haunt us. not to mention the endless inflation we will continue to feel every year.
You're right, financial stress will continuously hunt us. In fact even in instances wherein we feel like we are financially okay something will happen and pushes to spend our money and buy the end of it we'll realize just how bad it actually is. During financial stress such as this I usually go with taking a step back and grounding myself on the reality, then I analyze everything with a clearer mind, see where I did wrong and went over my budget then I adjust everything. Economic pressure will always come and unforeseen situations will constantly come hence we need to prepared every single time, no matter how severe it gets -- prepared to take care of it and prepare to get back up from it.
934  Economy / Economics / Re: Population: Economic strength or weakness on: September 29, 2023, 01:28:39 PM
A lot of criteria affect the success of a country seeing how countries like Japan, and  Korea are developed with their small population and countries like China are also developed with their overpopulation. I think it all boils down to the activities of the citizens and not whether they are large or small.

Any good leader would be able to influence people whether they're plenty or little. The education of the masses and the distribution of resources also matter a lot. There are underpopulated countries as well as overpopulated countries that have high poverty rates. Of course, such countries, don't need any additions as their resources are already limited. They just have to work on the people, their education, and their effective productivity.

People who want to add to the pop of little countries through marriage, immigration, and so on should be people who are ready to add value. And another thing about this population thing is that it's very possible to have overpopulation and the labor force is still small. Maybe most of the citizens are children or aged people.
What would one do in a situation like this? Obviously, you can't reduce the population and you also can't increase the population, cause resources are limited already.

So this comes down to the government using efficiently their human resources efficiently.

I like your point regarding the people who are getting married, migrating and etc to have a plan or know what the value they can add to the country for its betterment. Although it is true that the government holds a responsibility in this context, we cannot take away the fact that we, as the people of our country we also have to take responsibility of our actions and decisions that results to various effects to others. If we continuously be mindless and disregard the effects of our actions and decisions, like getting married and having children, then no matter how much effort, resources, and opportunities the government provides for us then most of it will be nothing.
935  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the government can really make a way to end poverty or it depends on us? on: September 29, 2023, 12:25:46 PM
In my country i observed so many people doing rally and blame the government why the basic needs price rise and the salary is still very low and not enough for daily expenses, is this the effect of the Ukraine and russia war that makes the gas or crude oil so high at price and they pass the gas expenses to the product and it ends to very high price of the basic needs that make us very poor, I see government has a move to resolve the problem but many people are still blaming the government.

Both the government and the society have to play their part for the betterment of their country. If the government is facilitating the people and the society is not responding to the government's efforts, there will be no improvement in the living standards. At the moment, inflation is a global phenomenon, and healthy inflation is always necessary for economic growth. Inflation is mostly affecting the countries where per capita income is on the lower side.

In some countries, governments are mismanaging the resources. In third-world countries, corruption and kickbacks are the major concerns. But, citizens have to play their part in these conditions. Traders and distributors should make reasonable profits in these times to make commodities somewhat affordable. People should fight corruption at the individual level and then transform society. At the government level, continuation of the policies should be a must.
Good take on this one. It is undoubtedly true that both parties have the responsibility and should make an action if we really want to overcome poverty. While the government needs to facilitate policies and serve the people of the country, individuals also have the responsibility to respond to the efforts and actions of their government, both locally and internationally. Although it is true that corruption and kickbacks are two of the biggest factors that is involved in the rise of poverty in a lot of developing countries, the general public have the responsibility to fight against it. The government and the people should really keep each other responsible of their actions and decisions that drives poverty.
936  Economy / Economics / Re: Surge in Bankruptcy Filings And Economic Crisis Vs Recession Vs BTC Price on: September 29, 2023, 12:03:25 PM

Diminishing 401k Assets:

According to Vanguard, a prominent investment funds giant, the average balance in 401k and 403b plan accounts has decreased from $141,542 in 2021 to $112,572, representing a 20% loss over a two-year period. Median balances have also been affected, dropping from $35,345 to $27,376 for retirement account clients. The primary reason for this decline is the poor performance of equity and bond markets. Additionally, inflation, which reached a 40-year high in 2022, remains a concern for both policymakers and households. The impact of rising interest rates, particularly in the mortgage sector, has further contributed to the decline in 401k assets

inflation does not make peoples account balance diminish.. $141k would still be $141k but how many loaves of bread or sports cars you can buy with it would be less .. but when they say money has escaped the accounts leaving individuals with less funds on average.. that means companies have been taking money out/losin money.. but not from inflation
You have a good point and sort of reminder here. People seem to think that inflation means their money in their savings account will diminish or their annual salary from their job will dramatically go down. What it is really is though is that their income is turning to not be enough with price hikes due to inflation. The example is as simple as you have stated it to be, you will still have the same amount of money but the quantity and quality of the products and services that same amount will get you will be drastically different due to inflation. Perhaps some of us needs a reminder of what inflation does to our money, cause it seems like they are blaiming it for everything these days (although I cannot deny that is is and has been a source of a lot of problems too).
937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why gambling beginners must not joke with casino announcement on: September 28, 2023, 11:52:28 PM
It's already expected that a gambling site will have an interesting offer to their new visitors. It's now our duty to explore the legitimacy of the site. Having a Bitcointalk thread is great but there are lots of gambling site that's not present here. With how big the internet is, it's now easy to search the reputation of a site.

My general rule of thumb is, if these gambling sites do have only few reviews around, then ignore.

Second, there are also lots of sources nowadays to check whether the gambling site is a scam or not.

We should just use our working brain to work with common sense.

There are still some people that are completely ignoring these simple instructions, and I don't know why they want to do just that, but it's an unfortunate thing that they exist and are still doing these to 'take advantage' of offers that are being given to them. Being greedy sometimes puts you into a lot of bad situations that could have been avoided, but due to greediness, you choose not to.
938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ️ Esports Prediction & Discussion Thread on: September 28, 2023, 11:17:51 PM
It is by design as far as I know. Valve is trying to spread the prize money across the season now, instead of having TI with the highest prize pool and then very small tournaments throughout the season. The reason being TI has become far too important as an event and the rest of the season is becoming lackluster and teams aren't competing hard enough at the smaller events. So, basically the plan is, Make TI smaller compared to the previous installments and then have slightly higher prizepools for majors and lower tier events.

This move is just to keep the Dota scene, even at the lower leagues active and to support the smaller teams and players by increasing the prizepool while taking a cut out of TI. I guess there's sustainibility issues already in the event management scene, when it comes to Dota as there are fewer tournament orginizations left because, it just hasn't been profitable enough for them to sustain Longterm.

Pretty sure they can think of more than just that. They can say that this year's TI prize pool will be distributed throughout the year without affecting the battle pass contents. I'm no longer playing Dota 2, but upon seeing what's in it, I just felt sorry for the long-term players and supporters who are always looking forward to buy the year's compendium.
939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Youth Gambling on: September 28, 2023, 10:40:44 PM

It is dangerous for the younger people specifically minors to engage in gambling activities because they are not developed yet to handle the temptation and most of these minors ends up being addicted to gambling, affecting their studies and relationship with others.  Gambling is never been an asset but instead many find it a liability that negatively affect young adult that resulted in harming them instead of helping them due to their immaturity and little experience handling the situation.

If the minor get involved in the gambling, they will not have the capacity to handle the loss. They may commit suicide by the small loss in the gambling, now the children doesn’t had a huge potential to handle the loss or problem. This generation had very weak heart and easy commit suicide as compared to old generation. So it’s true,we should keep the children from the gambling.Specially the children who doesn’t have completed 18 years should stay away from gambling. The negative impact of gambling should not affect the young people.

I wouldn't say that they'll straight up just think of suicide as an option to avoid their problems, but you are right that the youth of today doesn't have that much ability to try and work their way out of a difficult situation. They'll resort to a lot of self-pity instead of looking for viable solutions to their problems. I know a few people in the workplace who are like this, and honestly, they are not the best people to be around. Perhaps you can make a generalization that the youth aren't to trusted in gambling, especially in their early years. If they develop a habit of just resorting to self-pity and not looking for a solution to their problems, perhaps it will also be the same thing that they'll do when they're faced with a difficult situation that is caused by gambling.

Started with dice and roulettes, but I have since moved on to sports betting with a little dice on the side. I used to consistently play dice every Saturday, $20 at most on casinos and that hasn't been broken for years. It is only this year that I have broken that streak and have been interested more in sports betting. The reason is I also wanted to win somehow, and with sports betting in mind, I know that I can use the knowledge I have in sports in my favor and play with the odds that suits me. I'm still far from profiting hugely from sports betting, but I'll get there eventually.
