921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever felt remorse after gambling? on: July 02, 2023, 09:46:21 AM
What kind of remorse? like spending that money or betting your money? If so, then I would think that it is better to think twice before betting. I am this kind of person when I lose; I do feel regret when I lose that amount, even if I do budget it for that play, because I always think that if I don't gamble it, I probably spent it on something else. But when I win, it makes me bet more, which is a sign of greediness. If you feel remorse after losing, then you should always consider that if you lose this money, are you okay with it or do you just not play on that day?
922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how to get over it on: July 02, 2023, 08:36:09 AM
I’ve turned $1,000 into $100,000
I’ve turned $6,000 into $80,000
I’ve turned $11,000 into $550,000
and recently I’ve turned $4,000 into $90,000

With nothing to show for it…I’m a sharp sports bettor, but I always end up going all in. I can never be satisfied until it’s too late. I always need to go all in.

I’ve been reading comments from my last post (turning $4,000 into $90,000 and losing the entire $90,000), and I can’t help but feel like shit.

How do I get over the countless failures? I’ve been chasing the $1,000,000 dream for years.
Turning 1,000 USD into 100,000 USD is quite impossible. If you manage your profits till you gained 100K grands then how come you lose after all? I think it is because of greediness. If I were you, I will secure 90% of my gains and turn into a real investment. Because risking your money in gambling is just burning dollars on your hand.

It is possible if he just accumulated it over time; he didn't say how long, but if he said that it was just for a day or even a week, then that is not possible unless you are a heavy sports bettor and any kind of game you are betting on is all in. For sure, the OP learned a lesson from losing all of his profit or winnings, but the problem is that if he continues to bet big, he will commit the same mistake again. It is really greediness that even though you won big, you still want more. It is like you want to make the casino bankrupt, which is very impossible as for sure you'll lose all your money doing it.
923  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you cheat in gambling? on: July 02, 2023, 04:22:56 AM
But for people who don't want to cheat the system, they will report it to the casino that many people do cheating.
That will depend on each people what they want to do with that and if they think cheating is a bad thing, they will not follow others instead will play as usual.
It's like a mission impossible if don't have a benefit to it. I often find the casino just says thanks if someone finds a vulnerable system on their gambling site. Even if it is very important, the casino doesn't give him any reward or maybe a free bet or something. I think the casino management should think about this. Apart to find out the vulnerabilities, the bounty bug program and review site are good for getting many customers also. The casino must open to any report and must give the prize if someone finds the vulnerability system.

That is why those bug bounty hunters are only joining those that have rewards, but if they find a vulnerability, others will really exploit it, and if others find it, they will report it. But that is the problem if those owners don't give some rewards to others. That is why those who find it are mostly exploiting it as they can earn from it rather than being white hats. Though that is really the life of a bug bounty hunter, others will give others a damn about it.
924  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I a bad person if I manage to avoid taxes? (Hypothetical question) on: July 02, 2023, 03:33:20 AM
Well, my country Nigeria definitely does not meet the standard of Europe in every area, but certainly, with the way things have been so far, I personally can not consider someone who does not pay taxes a bad person, I myself started paying taxes since around 2010 when I started working, in 2017, I quit salary work to start up my own business, I continued paying taxes till 2020 when I had to stop, at a point, It was as if I was just throwing money away, paying taxes and yet, our currency kept losing value, I stopped paying taxes and till this day, I've not and will never bother about taxes except something changes in my country.

but still that is against the law and tax evasion which you could get punished but in the eyes of law you are a bad person but for others not because we cant really blame you and others as we can't really see progress on it as well as a lot of corrupt official that are using our money, but again we slare obligated to pay the tax no matter what as it is a law. But even my self I haven't paying taxes for couple of years now but before that I've been paying tax for a long time
925  Economy / Gambling / Re: Without money, does it still qualify as gambling? on: July 02, 2023, 02:16:11 AM
You may call it a contest where those who predict correctly wins the prizes. The difference between this and gambling is that here you are just participating in prediction without investing your own money while in gambling you would invest your own money in order to participate in prediction.
Anyways I do agree that most people will consider these two scenarios as same and will treat both of them as gambling.
people don't understand the context here, can gambling without money be called gambling, it doesn't mean that participating in a contest can be called gambling even though playing gambling or competition because without using money it's hard to say it's gambling because there's nothing at stake, even in my opinion it's gambling using fake money or demo game can also be called gambling but unfortunately it is only fake money as a demo.
We cannot consider any betting without money as gambling. There are some situations where money is not exchanged but is treated as a bet. I have some friends who sometimes bet with some others friends where they don't prioritize money. But if they lose the bet they are obliged to give treats. Can i consider such bets as gambling? Definitely not, Because there is no direct relation to money. Moreover, no one has any regrets even if they lose.
That kind of play is different in gambling bets as this certainly talks about money and should be placed upon betting. Gambling is money, apart from that can't be considered gambling anymore as the loser will oblige to pay for his lost bets from his pocket and there is a sort of feelings or emotions. And to that example that you've cited, despite the fact that you lose, you are still happy doing it, treating your friends, unlike the feeling that you lose from gambling - that was a disappointment.

That's what we called friendly gambling or friendly game because there is still pride involved with it. Even without money, you can still gamble as long as there is something on the line, even if it is just a simple command, like if you lose, you'll do this. The feeling with it is not also the same with money on the line because this is more fun as both of you will be doing it and friendly mocking each other. Though this still depends on others views, we are not the same.
926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How big is your optimism for crypto investment? on: July 02, 2023, 01:19:00 AM
One of the reasons for sure we are positive on crypto investment, particularly in bitcoin, is the upcoming halving and because of the recent pump this day because we are really expecting this and also for sure next year after the halving. Also,  there are new investors year by year as they saw the opportunity given by the crypto, which is why even though it is volatile, they are taking the risk and still looking for profit on it.
927  Economy / Economics / Re: Bad impact when You carry out Online or Offline Loans on an ongoing basis on: July 02, 2023, 12:17:55 AM
What I really noticed with online loans is that those collectors are really forcing or scaring the borrower. I have heard on the news that one borrower said that the collector sent a death flower so that the borrower would be scared and pay the loan. Online loans are very strict and keep bugging you when you can't pay within a day, but still, both loans are the same if you can't pay, which really leads to others committing suicide.
928  Economy / Economics / Re: What will you do when you have Financial Freedom? on: June 30, 2023, 04:35:11 PM
For sure, you'll get bored with having a vacation anywhere. What's best is that you really want to invest more in the trends of that time, build more companies, and generate more jobs to help other people. That is really what we want for sure, and we also want to gain more wealth for sure, aiming for the top richest man in the world. It is really best to make yourself known to the whole world, but again, this is just my imagination, but if this really happened, then for sure that is what I would do.
929  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 30, 2023, 01:38:55 PM
Smoking and drinking are bad habits too (for your health) and people still do them… the main idea is the same. Some people just don’t give a damn. Some people gamble just because they like it, they don’t care if they get rich or not from gambling at all. Some other people are greedy and they want to turn their 1 coin into 10 coins… some people play just to pass the time while they are waiting for someone. There are many other reasons too.

Long story short; Gambling fills a need in life and as long as that need exists, the gambling industry will not disappear from this world.
Yes, smoking and drinking alcohol is a very bad habit for our body,  yes we are all known that our body needs some alcohol but not too much because it will lead us to addiction and once we are in addict to that thing our self-control will be lost and every day We involve in it. Just like in gambling if we are too much greedy and we don't have self-control then we can say that most of a time we will want to gamble.
Smoking kills but I have not heard anyone die due to alcohol consumption. I might not be right as in I have seen daily drunkards and I have also seen addicts. I haven't seen anyone dying only because they are addicted to alcohol. I have read, seen and observed drunks getting hurt because of fights.

Comparing a gambler with an a substance addict like alcohol and smoking is a waste. My reasoning a gambler destroys the surrounding, by surrounding I meant family & friends. While a gambler destroys everything surrounding him/her.
Yes there's no one yet died because of alcohol consumption but there are many people died by crushing their vehicles because they are drunk. And also here in my country actually my neighbor I think that he's body is already needing alcohol everyday because once he can't take alcohol he can't control his whole body are shaking. But once he can take an alcohol then he's body will stop shaking.

That is really a sign of alcohol addiction, as he is now shaking if he can't drink alcohol; even others are saying they can't sleep without drinking it as their bodies are already used to it; and what's worse is that they drink it like water, which for sure causes internal organs to suffer; and also, FYI, tons of people have died because of alcohol intoxication, meaning they took or drank alcohol too much that their bodies couldn't take it; mostly this happens in parties where there are drinking games, which is very deadly.
930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 12:07:21 PM
Social media are full of scammers, even in a legit cryptocurrency group, scammers can't be avoided especially if your post obviously says you're a newbie that need a guide in cryptocurrency, trust me, your DM will be flooded by fake accounts who are offering you "help". Lot of people in social media always fall to ponzi schemes, or pyramiding investment, in short, those too good to be true kind of investment.

So in my opinion, social media is not the right place for someone to look for cryptocurrency tutorial, unless you know someone who'll guide you through it, and don't forget to be always cautious.

It is also a scammers playground. It is better now to learn it via a forum like here or try to find an online tutorial that is legit. We can't really avoid scammers, but we should be cautious of anyone. That is why it is better if you have someone who knows crypto so that you will know where to start. Even if you've just asked a question in a group, it would be flooded with links as they are persuading you to join their ponzi schemes. What's really best about social media is that we can easily find information there, like news, that keeps us up to date.
931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you still do business with them? on: June 30, 2023, 10:33:48 AM
I know that many other centralized exchanges may declare bankruptcy - but let's ignore this for a moment and assume that these companies gets back in business would you patronize them? Would you still do business with them? I know the whole talk of move your bitcoin off centralized exchanges but we cannot denial the fact they that they still play an important role in the crypto community.
I would never trust again an exchange that went bankrupt. Who can assure me that it's not going to happen again? If you go bankrupt you had a really bad management, at that point just start a new clean exchange. I feel like it would be like fixing a totaled car instead of getting a new one, why would you do that? How could you trust it?

But with Bittrex, they announced bankruptcy and asked their customers to withdraw money, what did they do wrong? This case is very different from what FTX has done, so we cannot say that all exchanges are not equally reliable. What Bittrex has done is appreciable, and if they do get back up and running, I'll support them, even though I've never done business with them before. For FTX, we should definitely stay away from them even if they return all investors and reopen. There has been some news saying that FTX is planning to come back, but I hope they return investors' money and never come back.

that is really good move by Bittrex there's a lot of people was able to received emails to withdraw their funds which is a good sign that they really care on their users and they want that anyone can get their money back and not the same with FTX just running , for sure if FTX is back only couple of people will be back on their platform even they give back the money which we still don't know if when they can give it back but lets hope as a lot of people really affected on those and lose tons of money that they save for few years.
932  Economy / Economics / Re: Quit borrowing on: June 30, 2023, 09:21:05 AM
Borrowing is not bad but it depends on what you want to do with the funds, some people spend borrowed money as if it is a personal fund, so many people have formed the habit of borrowing, I will even say that they are very addicted to it. The only way for this to stop is by restrictions from the appropriate authority, people should live within the confined of what they have in other to avoid borrowing because borrowing can make you poor.

Note before you borrow, consider the interest rate and make sure you have somewhere you want to invest it, so that the repayment won't be a burden for you.

The bigger your salary, the more you spend. That is really the problem with people right now, even myself. I've had that habit that I kind of say to myself that because my salary is bigger now, I can eat at fancy restaurants, which is really bad for finances. We can do it rarely, but it is really better to save because we can't prevent ourselves from borrowing from others. But again, it is really difficult to not borrow if your income is just enough and you also have another source of income. But still, if we have a chance to save, we should always save, as for sure we will need it in the future.
933  Economy / Economics / Re: What could Elon Musk be buying next? on: June 30, 2023, 06:48:03 AM
Why doesn't Musk create his own social network? Trump did own network (though he founded it on Twitter) o. And Musk could call the social network "Muscomania." Why not? He has enough money and resources to quickly promote any product his company creates.

He stated before that he is really capable of making a clone of Twitter, but he said that it would cost him more time, so time is gold for Elon, which is why he bought Twitter instead and got a copy of the code that his engineers are studying right now to improve more. We know that he is playing to create an X app, where you can do everything, order food, hire a taxi, and everything else in one app, which is his first stepping stone, but again, we haven't heard the latest on it, but probably he is cooking something this year or next year.
934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 05:05:22 AM

I first heard Bitcoin in particular and cryptocurrency in general via social media or Facebook to be specific. Without the socmed, I don't think cryptocurrency will be as known as we have today. And all of these things opened up all because of the internet, of course. I am sure that social media will continue to be a big influencing factor in the march of Bitcoin into the mainstream population so that one day we can witness BTC pushed into higher heights ultimately reaching a million-dollar value whenever that can be.

I discovered this forum on Social media, which was posted in some groups, but with Bitcoin, I discovered it in Google searches in some website tutorials, though right now most of the new people have for sure discovered bitcoin on social media, as everywhere people are talking about it, especially when the last ATH happened, a lot of people were talking about it, which led to others discovering it. Social media is a really big factor in anything as it can make you discover things, and the adoption of bitcoin would also be bigger as it is also a source of information.
935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we just invest in any altcoin? on: June 30, 2023, 03:38:29 AM
It's true, during the bull market, we see a lot of new projects popping up, especially on CMC. Some of them are just trying to attract investors and may not meet exchange standards, leading to delistings. Investing in altcoins can be a way to take advantage of the bull market and potentially make some gains, but it's important to do thorough research and choose wisely. Altcoins can be volatile, so they may not always survive the dip after the bull run. It's all about finding the right opportunities and managing the risks. Good luck out there! 🚀💸
This all happened because indeed most of the new projects will be listed when the bulls arrive with the hope that their altcoin prices will also be affected by the bulls. they forget that after bullish comes bearish and they don't think about how to deal with bearish, this is the reason why many new projects can't survive and turn into dead projects.
Yes, they only think about when it's bullish and when bearish comes, they don't know what to do,
in the end many of the new projects do not survive,
need to think about things in the long term which is important.

Stability and long-term should always be considered in altcoins because there are really few altcoins that are good for a few months but die after that because there were no updates and abandonment by the team. Also, this is the problem with investors when they see a cheap new altcoin and then calculate their profit based on the price that was told to them, which is really a huge problem as they are just thinking about the profit and didn't read and learn about the project, which is a vital aspect of whether it will reach its price.
936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can i make 100 $ daily from online casinos on: June 30, 2023, 02:47:39 AM
The problem with gamblers such as the OP is that they always believe that they will end up in profit all the time. Online casinos exist because gamblers lose more than they win. Assumptions such as winning a fixed amount everyday is purely illogical. If you are lucky, you will win and if you are not then you are going to end up in red. Online casinos are good if you want to relax and play a few games. But if you want a fixed source of income, then try your luck with freelancing (obviously after improving your skill set).

Gambling is always a business, which means the owner always wins, even if you thought you won that day, but for sure they already earned profit from others, and if you win, there are instances where you play back, and then you'll lose it all. You are right, those gamblers are thinking of it as a profit and not an entertainment; they are making it their source of income, but it is not capable of that as it is not stable and you only win when you get lucky. They should find a job and make gambling a side hustle for them if they think that it is working for them; for sure, their job salary would go with it.
937  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I a bad person if I manage to avoid taxes? (Hypothetical question) on: June 30, 2023, 01:58:30 AM
We are all the same; everything pays taxes, and it is your duty as a citizen of your country no matter what. Don't compare yourself to bad guys that are doing bad things because they are not helping your country. The real purpose of this is to improve your country and help it by paying taxes. Though I know that you are struggling to pay it, we don't have a choice because if you don't do it, you'll be facing legal problems, so it is better to pay it.
938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you, or would you ever use a Bitcoin ATM? on: June 29, 2023, 01:52:33 PM
I've seen them pop up all around me, in small convenience stores and even restaurants. I was wondering if it's a good option to buy a gift for someone else, or are the fees too high and it's not worth it? Also I'm not sure how it works but figuring they give you a private key, and how safe is that?
I'd refrain to use it, people would know about me using Bitcoin for the "privacy" things and it would make some sort of attraction because it's a rare thing for people to use that ATM in the first place. Also in here, Bitcoin is still illegal as a payment processor so Bitcoin ATM won't be released in the future for long time. I'd just do it at home whenever I want to withdraw some Bitcoin to my bank account, it's much easier.

for sure there will be no Bitcoin ATM machine in your area and even myself I wont be using it if it is illegal in our country but I would happy to try it if I've seen couple of people trying it because it is like a new experience in using it and just want to know how it works but again it should be also in sneaky pattern not that anyone can see you, it is still the same with how you withdraw in bank ATM machines
939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between futures trading and gambling on: June 29, 2023, 12:18:00 PM
We can do both because gambling is just for fun which you can easily learn it but for trading this requires a lot of your time and patience as you needed to learn it overtime and you cant learn it in just one night, others takes months and even years then that is the time they are earning profit but that doesn't mean that you keep winning on it there are really times that you'll lose . But for me doing both is good because gambling is for fun and trading is for profit and knowledge
940  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Better to have a trading knowledge than depending on signals. on: June 29, 2023, 11:06:01 AM
I would say, it depends on what we can do. If we haven't been able to analyze the market very well and produce results, then trading signals can actually help, as long as we don't depend so much on these signals and don't trust these signals 100℅ Because after all there is no signal that works 100℅. For this reason, it is obligatory for cities to have this understanding before deciding to jump into the world of trading. Because after all this is very risky and not easy to do or decide. In this case, how can we take advantage of every moment to be very good at analyzing from various sources and starting to narrow it down to get the right decision at that time.
Yes, but in the end, we still have to have knowledge about signals and also supporting knowledge to study price movements from signals. That's why I feel that knowledge about trading is very important. so that we can choose and develop the strategies we need when trading. for example, like you said. even when we depend on the signal, it requires knowledge to know whether the chart will go up or down. of course, it also requires data to support the analysis of chart movements so that we are confident enough in the decisions we have. Without knowledge, we may appear to be gambling in setting prices based on signals.
Right because it's impossible if we only rely on signals because still that requires knowledge too,
knowledge is the basic thing and as a trader it is a must have,
do not be lazy to always learn.

you can join signal groups without knowledge as they are just posting their bias or entries on specific coin that is why it is very attractive to the newbies that doesn't want to learn trading and just want to earn or trade in just one night which we know they rely on that signals as they think that those people behind it are very professional in trading. The problem with this is that of the signal group is gone what will you do now ? relying on them may beneficial in short term but in the long run youll struggle for sure
