Hey MEOW devs.... it's unfortunate that the Twitter name "KittehCoin" is not being used for official info (so many coins do this). I realize you guys probably don't own the account - Is it LoneStars' acount? From a marketing perspective, it would make sense to get control of that account ASAP!
Thinking about it from the point of view of someone who says "hmmm.... what is this kittehcoin?, do they tweet?" If I have to look up KittehCoinTeam to know it is the official source... that is a failed opportunity since lots of folks won't take the time. It's like if Coca-Cola did not have the website Coke.com but rather Cocacolasoftdrinkcompany.com.

It has been a wild week at KitthCoinHQ, location: internet. We "relaunched" 2/3 as promised (well, 30min late but hey) and the reception has been fantastic. At time of launch we were on a single exchange and had reached out to many exchanges but hadn't gotten any response. Now we're just getting added to exchanges organically! The community is growing by leaps and bounds everyday and the team has some awesome new work to share with the larger community. If you've followed KittehCoin you know there was no premine, and this team kind of "inherited" it from the creator. Please keep that in mind when you contact us asking for free coins, this isn't that kind of coin. If you are a pool operator and have not upgraded to the 0.6.4.1 client you MUST UPGRADE. If you do not the blocks from your pool will be orphaned, and your miners will be working in vain. We now have >51% network saturation. The hard fork block (131913) should be reached in 4-7days depending on the rate of block generation. We will be the first to admit we underestimated the time to reach the fork-block, and will be tightening up those calculations for the next hard-fork (foreshadowing!). First things first- where can you buy MEOW these days? We have also explored CryptoRush.in, but they are asking for 0.25BTC to be listed. We feel exchanges (who profit from listing coins in most cases) should list a coin because it has a critical mass, a strong community, or the exchange operators value the coin and see potential in it. The ability to buy your way onto an exchange has us avoiding this exchange for now. We have been listed on several directories including CoinWarz, and several others. There have also been a number of new games popping up which support MEOW such a meow.coinwheel.me and others, we will be listing these on our site later today. We have been working on an online wallet service for KittehCoin wallets. This type of thing requires extra security auditing to make sure everyone's MEOW is safe so the timeline for releasing that service is a bit further out. BUT- we already have an iOS wallet app ready that uses that service as its backbone. As you know Apple has been kinda of waffling on the approval of cryptocoin apps, so we're waiting for approval right now, but here are some teasers: We hope to have this rolled out soon! These images do NOT convey final design, but its close Another item we have been working on is a way to help support our miners. We know the KittehCoin difficulty is a roller coaster the way we have been getting attacked by multipools combined with DDoS attacks on our pools. To help mitigate this we have taken immediate action and have implemented the Kimoto Gravity Well difficulty algorithm (KGW) into the next release of KittehCoin. We are using the adaptive N-Factor implementation that VertCoin uses (hattip to them!) but we're feeding our 60s blocktime into that algo rather then the VertCoin block time. Now fixing the difficulty issues are awesome but we are working on a lot more than that, we're working on three things in parallel in terms of the coin itself, all of which require waiting for the hard-fork block to be reached before we can release, and this will require another hard-fork (this 2nd hard fork will occur much more quickly than the first one, we learned!). - Upgrade KittehCoin codebase to 0.8.6.2 - completed, in final testing, waiting for hardfork

- HUGE new features in 0.8.6.2 - final phases of testing
You read that right, we're going after 3 major updates in parallel. Why? Well because 2 of the 3 would require hard-forks, and so we feel it best to incorporate all of them into one release, one fork, and then KittehCoin will be solid for the foreseeable future. As you can see by our quick response with the implementation of KGW- we listen to our community, and if the need for additional changes arise after the 0.8.6.2 release, we will respond accordingly. The alpha for this release is already on github. So you're probably wondering what #3 is in the feature list... its something new, novel, beneficial to miners and users, and has never been done by any other altcoin. For this reason we a) need to make sure we test it thoroughly prior to release; b) make sure we market it right, since it really is a big deal for cypto/altcoins in general; c) we had to get a private github repo so people didn't steal our work before release. We will make this public when its ready for release. Things we could use the communities help with: - Putting together a proper marketing/PR team to dress and announce these new features and releases in the best way possible. We'll admit- we're coders. We aren't the best at marketing, but we have a killer community and are dedicated to making this coin better and better. If you have marketing experience please reach out to us if you haven't already, you can make a difference for this coin! Also, it takes a lot of time to write up these updates, time I could be using to code, while a marketer does a better job in general crafting these updates
- Locating a payment processor. We have requests in with a number of 3rd party processors but if you run a payment processor or can give us an inside track we and our community would be greatly appreciate that. This also ties into being able to leverage MEOW for donations and fundraisers in a more effective way as well as enabling the standard purchase of goods and services.
The timeline on the 0.8.6.2 release is TBD- we first need to get past block 131913. After that its just a matter of making sure it is solid in testing before rolling it out to the full community. KittehCoin is here to stay! We listen to our community and try to help other altcoins too. We feel like "altcoins" in general are one big community and we are happy to help any altcoin that isn't a sleazecoin. We're actively working with the awesome devs from GOATcoin and AmK to help with some mac wallets for them. KittehCoin comes first- but as we have the ability to help and knowledge share, we're all about that. Want to thank everyone in the community for their massive support. Our team works very hard to make sure the users can connect to peers, miners don't have problems, wallets are working, etc etc. We know there is a minor issue with the zip file on our paperwallet, I will be fixing that today. I don't doubt at all that keiser has raised awareness around KittehCoin. What I don't like is that he talked about it, and then on the show he just hyped his own coin and literally ended with something like "So there you have it, buy Maxcoin. Forget kitteh." TO ME that is completely unprofessional and like pulling a bait and switch on your own audience (why??). Then on top of that, they tried to act like Maxcoin was some altcoin messiah (its not, its uses a different POW algo, wowzers! /sarcasm). THEN they totally TOTALLY botch the launch today (these things are adding up eh?). Worst launch I have ever seen by far. Oh and for some reason @maxkeiser has blocked @KittehCoinTeam from retweeting or favoriting any of his tweets. Its all very shady / skeezy. But, moving on..Yeah these prices are fucking awesome lol. I don't know if people just don't understand the economics or they are just following the hype waves blindly but im buying up that cheap MEOW. Also we have huge new things in the pipeline as I alluded to in earlier posts, we need help marketing these right so there is proper awareness of how incredible these innovations are- as I mentioned on twitter we have had to upgrade to a private GitHub repo just so other altcoin wannabes don't clone our hardwork and innovations (literally no other coin has this stuff, nothing even like it). These are real innovations, not fluff like "superblocks". So smart people hold. Wave riders sell. And those who are still with us in about 2 weeks will be like "dano called it!" Yes, we are testing it right now. I wasn't bullshitting when I said we are going to push this coin, feature wise and adoption wise. Was on skype late last night with Coderboo/Lonestar108 talking about 0.8.6.2, KGW, and ***** ******** **** ** ******** which is going to blow the pants off the crypto community and also make miners very happy! |

Stop fixating on price and focus on how we can spread KittehCoin adoption and make it easier for merchants to accept MEOW. If you build it they will come. If you sit there whining about how you haven't become rich of KittehCoin then you're not really in this for the community and you're probably better crypto-hopping. For those complaining about price- what have you done to help KittehCoin? Aside from buy some hoping to get rich? If your answer is nothing then maybe you should think about what you CAN do to help.

This isn't about Kitteh v DOGE. This is about building a community around KittehCoin and that is what the team is moving forward with doing. We're working on enabling payment processors right now so that merchants can more easily accept MEOW. We are also already looking at KGW to replace the diff algo (after hard fork of course) and there are some other very impressive features that would attract more miners as well. Of course I'm not going to spill the beans right here and now but I just wanted to say that this doesn't have to be about KittehCoin v DOGE. I don't agree with DOGEs decision to allow infinite coins but it is THEIR decision, and I respect that. I'm here for the community, the fun, and the learning. I'm here for the long run. I know there are a decent number of kitteh compadres who are here with me in that regard. I wish we could get past the silly stuff and get serious about making KittehCoin a more widely accepted currency. Mobile apps, internet wallets, and much more are just a sliver of what we are working on- remember we had to establish this informational base first and fix the coin specs (aka: relaunch) before we can really start steamrolling forward with innovations- and innovatin' ain't easy! Especially with such an opinionated community (but we love that). Important Note: By "get past the silly stuff" I do NOT mean less memes!  Oh also, and this,: The Crypto market is really more like surfing. You have to move with it, and can't set hard and fast expectations. I'm not worried in the slightest about Kitteh. Good active communities and an intention beyond simple profitability are what will see this currency through. I know that Kitteh is worth at least as much as Doge, and I don't intend to sell out any time soon. The two currencies can in fact amplify one another through constructive mimetic competition. I was with Doge when it first began, and sure it spiked initially on Cryptsy, but it tanked for what seemed a very VERY long time down near 0.00000027 after having been up above 0.0000033. Media attention is what brought it back to its more substantial and generally stable levels, and the same will follow with Kitteh. Social and cultural saturation are powerful forces and those are what this coin hopes to operate from. If you only intend to dump the coin, do it now and let the truly committed and passionate community members raise Kitteh up to its proper standards. The reality is that if all you are interested in is personal profit, with no other regard for the movement at large, then you only hurt what is a unique modern frontier. You become no different fundamentally than the decadent members of world banking cartels and Wallstreet. And, i believe, you actually reduce your own long term outlook. Also don't forget, Bitcoin is quickly becoming established in world economics. All this has only barely launched!!! It will not be long before you can use BTC for all those services and products you otherwise might use credit/debit for. As that saturation occurs, the value will increase, and so will the Btc relative alts. So here's an idea, start replacing fiat purchases with btc purchases. Use Overstock.com and others who offer such payment systems--reward them and encourage the mainstream market; prove that these cryptos, while being initially volatile, CAN and will be used as true currencies as well as stores of value. Sitting around staring moment to moment on trading values in fretting anxious anticipation is a road to nowhere; just as there are small waves within larger ones it is ok to take an expanded approach, and not merely jump at every shadow. Anyway, be patient, be active, be measured, and have fun with it!!!  I just want to note, btw, that I am very impressed by the relaunch Dev team. Thanks everyone for the support!!!!! 2. We are on cryptsy and on coinwarz RIGHT MEOW. 3. If you are having issues launching the mac wallet getting an "unknown developer" error you may need to tweak/whitelist the app in youe GateKeeper settings (mac security tool), we are looking at an easier way around this and will address very soon. 4. Blockexplorer ( http://kittehcoinblockexplorer.com) is back up, I was performing about 5min of maintenance just as Cryptsy added us (go figure). 5. Wallet not syncing? KITTEHCOIN PEERNODE LIST I am really pleased with this relaunch- HUGE props to the team. We were at 3 satoshi 2 weeks ago. Coin was dead. Reddit was dead. No community. Now look at us. And this is just the start, team is already talking about what the next features should be (KGW, merge mine, etc.) after relaunch week is over. There is nothing labeled kittehcoin-master.zip on the right side.
If there is an issue with the link I will fix it ASAP, at work right now can only devote so much time to KittehCoin while on the clock. AMAZING JOB GUYS!!!

I will setup a wallet and post a link so that the team can "get paid" by those who wish to show the love. The funds will be split equally amongst the team based on people's contributions (some team members are much more active than others, a few saved my ass last night!) I have received the reports of Mac Wallet issues, I am looking into these now and will have a fix posted ASAP. It seems the new Mac Wallet works for most people but not all, some people are getting "Application cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer" error. Fixing. |

Thanks for all the support, couldn't have done it with out this community. It's important to underline that the new block reward will happen in 7 days, not 5, because we currently have ~2050 blocks per day instead of 2880 (due to multipools abusing diff retargets).
So everyone should profit and mine this coin while it still provides nearly 4 times the amount of coin per day !
This is correct- and we also called this out in the relaunch announcement to keep everything above-board as our team constantly strive to do. kettehcoin-qt can not be opened because of the problem...

New miners please join Cipher pool. First pool is getting too big!
What "first" pool? There is no pool list. Seems to be a problem with network hashrate calc because those 3 GH/s doesn't exist, not in the pools anyway. Ok, pool stats numbers are garbage right now. Pool list is on home page, under "mining". We have tons of pools but are giving preference to those who HAVE upgraded their clients at the moment. |

My appeal did not make any positive changes, so we made a decision :
We moving to 1% fee from 10th of February. I do believe we will lose some miner's, but in same time we will reduce load on our server and will be able to provide better resources when needed! We proven our self to stand against DDOS attack's and keeping your coin's safe while pool payment's was stopped due to one attack. So after all, we all benefit from such action.
Also we will be giving 0.1% of 1%fee to Developer's support and promotion's need. So they will use this income to fund Faucet's and other activities that will help Kittehcoin community. Fund's will be transferred weekly and Developers a much welcome to confirm that later.

I recall that this was happening tonight from what I understood previously.
side note - If you give 10,000 people 1000 coins on reddit you will send MEOW off the charts
with hype. Think about how easy it would be to find 10,000 cat lovers on reddit. Keep bringing new
people in and watch it explode. Think about all the new users of crypto that DOGE brought in with
giving out coins.
Block 131913. We increased the fork height to ensure there was proper network saturation with the new client before the fork, so that it was successful. Based on current stats we are lookin good. Your numbers are spot on. |

We feel the 1hr retarget is really the best way to deal with this. A longer retarget would lead to the diff being artificially inflated after a drive-by. The 1hr retarget helps to calm the water very quickly after a drive by. Internally we discussed increasing to 4hrs, but did not for the reasons mentioned.
