961  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Get ridd of my newbie status on: January 18, 2014, 10:30:26 AM
From a newbie to another. I started mining BTC when it was pretty new, somehow I stoped and didnt think of mining for a year or two. Found out later that the BTC value had gone up considerably, but could not recreate my old wallet :-(
So now im back again, mining scrypt coins, hoping to make some money on the side =)
I wanted to recomend two multipools, since I think its the best way to mine efficiently.
Check out switchercoin.com and megamultipool.com I have been mining on switchercoin for a while and it works fine, today I started mining on megamultipool just to see how its like.
I wish you the best in your mining adventure =)

How much have you been able to make from mining at this late stage. Thinking of jumping in myself but I thought the days of individual mining being profitable were over, pool or otherwise.

Not new to alt-coin but never mined. Want to make sure it's worth my electricity bill!

The smart money is in Coinye. So hot right now Tongue
963  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best Place to Sell/Convert Alt Coin to Bitcoin? on: January 18, 2014, 10:17:31 AM
I use bter and have never had any problems there. Simple enough to use and will tell you how many coins you can obtain of your desired alt before you trade.
964  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: with $2000 Which coins would you buy? on: January 17, 2014, 01:53:30 PM
I agree with others in that id go mostly bitcoin, but some litecoin for diversity. Although I've been known to dabble with Quark (the food and the coin)
965  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Living on 2 BTC for a week on: January 17, 2014, 10:45:19 AM
Regardless of how much he has, which is more than enough to live on I agree, it's an interesting project. I'm in the UK where we don't have a lot of small merchants accepting Bitcoin. I'm going to follow this to see how living day-to-day goes, buying necessities etc.
966  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 0.5 BTC/month to Advertise Bit777 & Peerbet! on: January 17, 2014, 10:36:17 AM
I know this has been mentioned already, but can I clarify that if I choose to change my payment method to bit777, that I can cash this out without playing or depositing? I don't see why people wouldn't do that if that's the case.

Thanks
967  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is a Drone? on: January 17, 2014, 09:21:49 AM
A drone is usually just some sort of robot that's unmanned (usually) and autonomous. Recently, a tower sculpture was built by small drone helicopters as an art installation. You can see a video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnkMyfQ5YfY.

This drone in particular is hoping to change the way people think about architecture of the future, with little aerial bots working together and interacting with one another.

There are all types of drones, including the combat drones you described.
968  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why so much spam? on: January 17, 2014, 08:56:33 AM
Where there's money to be made, there'll always be spam I'm afraid. The first thing internet marketers will do is establish where their target audience hang out. If the answer to that it bitcointalk , there you go.
969  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it a good idea to drop out from college and invest in Crypto Currencies? on: January 16, 2014, 11:52:30 PM
Bitcoin investment is looking like a long term strategy for me at the moment. I know I wouldn't be able to live day to day just by investig bitcoins. The market is too static at the moment IMO. It could all change but could go either way remember. Too risky!

I'm one of the not-so-few people holding onto my coins until they're worth a million each (Dec 2014)

Note: Please don't leave college based on my amazing foresight
970  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thinking about naming my baby girl Bitcoin.. (due in 3 weeks) on: January 16, 2014, 11:46:30 PM
To reiterate what everyone has said. Don't do this! Not sure what it would be to achieve. Yeah it would get media attention maybe but it wouldn't have a huge pact on the bitcoin economy if any. Don't do it to her. You will regret it.
971  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay UK annouces new policy for virtual currencies on: January 16, 2014, 11:20:05 PM
Another means of taking virtual currency to the masses. I'm enjoying seeing the different channels unfold that take alt-coins out there to people. Of course, the higher you climb the harder you fall, but it could be good for the alt-coin prices if the demand goes up. Transactions being irreversible might be a problem unless PayPal is still used for protection.
972  Economy / Economics / Re: Buy or Wait? on: January 16, 2014, 10:51:38 PM
I've just bought more Bitcoin and I'm happy with it. Sure the price could be lower at the moment but it could also be a LOT higher. The practical answer is 'who knows?'. Just make sure that whatever you do invest, you can afford to lose. Not that it's likely, but again, 'who knows?'. I'm happy to be in the game than on the sidelines watching the action.

973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: U.S. announces forfeiture of $28 million of bitcoins belonging to Silk Road on: January 16, 2014, 10:44:47 PM
I agree that the charity donation would be good, but not at all likely. This does sound odd. I read though that they are likely to be 'auctioned off'. Not sure how or where.
974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting capture of current public opinion on: January 16, 2014, 10:37:42 PM

Yeah, and domain names!
975  Economy / Services / Re: Earn up to 0.8BTC/month just by posting! - Advertise for PrimeDice.com! *Updated on: January 16, 2014, 05:01:22 PM
I'm at 6 posts at the moment, recommended by one of your other forum posters, hilariousandco.

I understand that I need to get to 50 to do this, so my first 44 won't count toward my 50 minimum for a payout.

Cheers
976  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do you think the future lies? on: January 16, 2014, 04:21:05 PM
Important to remember that in the next 10 years, all Bitcoins will be mined and out in the market for people to either buy or trade. This has the potential to really bump up the value as demand increases and supply decreases. Of course, this is all speculation. Look at how close we came to the old 51% scenario. Anything can happen really.
977  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone please test my wallet? (Multibit) on: January 16, 2014, 01:54:41 PM
As already mentioned, there are loads of faucets that will pay you a very small amount of Bitcoin just for visiting their site and putting in your wallet address. You'll need so many before they pay out but it's a good way to test the wallet.
978  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hoarding bitcoins on: January 16, 2014, 12:50:58 PM
Remember that eventually, somewhere in the next 10 years, ALL the Bitcoins will be mined and in the system. It's all speculation, but in my eyes, with less supply of coins and having to rely on trading or buying to get them, the prices should go up a lot.

Remember though that it can go either way. Look at how close GHash came to being able to perform a 51% attack. They've said that measures are in place so that it won't happen, but it just shows that ANYTHING can happen with it.

It's all speculation. For every 'expert' predicting it will go up, there are those saying the opposite.
979  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi crypto-fans - best "accepted here" sites on: January 16, 2014, 12:44:19 PM
I don't think we would make the list of 'best' companies as we're only small, but I own and run a small web hosting company and we're currently looking at accepting Bitcoin as a payment method. At the moment, in the UK, there are no tax regulations (although I'm sure there are plans) which is a major selling point. Of course, it's a gamble, but we'd also like to think (like everyone else!) that the value of our takings will increase.

There are lots of benefits to it, so think we will take the plunge very soon.
980  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi I am a noob on: January 16, 2014, 12:26:18 PM
I started with Bitcoin and dabbled a bit with Quark. I'm in Bitcoin at the moment, interested to see where it will go long-term. Remember that there's a lot of speculation about where things will go, so before you choose anything, be prepared for anything. Don't act on the articles you see saying that Bitcoin could reach $100,000, as there are also articles suggesting that it will be worth $10.

Remember to only risk what you can afford to lose. Having said that, it's a lot of fun too, and a great community. I'm addicted to checking my exchange prices!
