Guys, imagine we reach 6400 and then go sideways for a month or two.

That would freak people out.

Very little is needed currently to freak people out

MedeTrade Cryptocurrency Debit and Credit Card Integrates Dash

MedeTrade, an online cryptocurrency exchange, has now made Dash available for use with its Visa cryptocurrency debit and credit card.

The good news is, the development of payments through third-party services is good, but how reliable is it to keep all your funds on this service?
Will I lose all my money if something happens to the project? I think that holding all the coins on it is still dangerous, since there is no regulation in this matter.

I would say these debit and creditcards should be handled the same as how we handle mobile crypto wallet apps, you only leave a small Dash amount on them.
Maybe put more funds on them, when you plan to make a specific high value purchase.

Before putting any large funds into them, i would really need to know if there is some kind of safety and insurance policy in place.

963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: December 15, 2019, 09:37:09 PM

Dash has 4786 active masternodes alone, which makes 4187 on the low side.

Link : http://178.254.23.111/~pub/masternode_count.png

Which means Dash should be on rank 6 with regards to #nodes.

Masternode.me has Dash number of nodes slightly higher and also provides the percentage of circulating supply backed by masternodes :

MASTERNODES -----
4,868/4,786 total/enabled masternodes
52.84% pct. dash backing masternodes

Link : https://stats.masternode.me/network-report/296618 (make sure you press 'latest', something i personally keep forgetting to do and which is why i had to edit this post)

Apparently Dash has 82 nodes that are active on our network, but not regarded as enabled masternodes.
Which means Dash could even be on rank 5 with regards to #nodes.

We have interesting and important discussions on dash.org/forum about Dash economics : https://www.dash.org/forum/topic/dash-economics.150/
Opinions on below stated topics are welcome there.

966  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: December 11, 2019, 02:54:47 PM
I am comparing minimum entry price for one machine.
Actually we are comparing single machines / single units that run in the thousands of dollars. Nothing more, nothing less.

theres no pissed miners on eth is because nobody there burned thousands of dollars for x11 boxes

There are plenty of ETH boxes / machines that run in the thousands of dollars as well, are you saying nobody bought those ?

https://mineshop.eu/ethereum-miner/ethereum-miner-mining-rig-310-mh-s/ :  € 3,799.50
1 machine

https://mineshop.eu/ethereum-miner/ethereum-mining-rig/ : € 3,877.94
1 machine

Bottom line : your statement that ETH miners never put thousands of dollars into single mining hardware machines comparable to X11 boxes, is just not very convincing when there are
mining machines available on the market for ETH miners for awhile now, that sell for several thousands of dollars per machine.

That is the point i'm trying to make and where you seem to get a bit evasive about, when i pointed that out two posts earlier.
967  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: December 11, 2019, 08:13:09 AM

theres no pissed miners on eth is because nobody there burned thousands of dollars for x11 boxes. or your position is that buying a GPU
is the same like buying x11 box 3 years ago, when its was $5+?))

I think there are a lot of Ethereum miners that also burned throusand of dollars into buying and setting up their mining hardware (https://mineshop.eu/ethereum-miner/) during Ethreum's
previous bullrun in 2017 and are now also facing a PoS future. Hopefully Dash will be a bit more transparant to its own miners, then Ethereum Core Group has been so far to theirs
(a level of uncertainty seems to have slipt into Ethereum's intention to switch to PoS awhile back).

i dont think you can compare price of $5k for x11 box a few years ago with ANY gpu card. ANY!!!

Have you looked at some of these ETH mining hardware that people can buy ?

https://mineshop.eu/ethereum-miner/ethereum-miner-mining-rig-310-mh-s/ :  € 3,799.50 --> $4,211.14
https://mineshop.eu/ethereum-miner/ethereum-mining-rig/ : € 3,877.94 --> $4,298,08 (repriced much cheaper now, but we are talking old prices)

So yes, there are mining hardware products, that ETH miners just like Dash miners most likely spend thousands of dollars on (depending on their available budget).
I'm not sure why you keep insisting only Dash miners spend thousands of dollars on mining hardware.

GPU farms / Mining Rigs / ASIC miners, these are all products that people can sink thousands of dollars in. Dash is not the magical exception here.
And no, i'm not comparing x11 mining hardware to single GPU cards. There are much more advanced (and more expensive) mining hardware products available to ETH miners.

Which brings me back to my original question, why would we have pissed Dash miners when it is this early on and we don't even know which long term solution we choose ?

Maybe these X11 miners will switch to mining other X11 networks, maybe these X11 miners will continue to mine Dash if Dash decides to keep PoW in some form, maybe these X11 miners
decide to switch to Dash staking if Dash choose to implement staking. Maybe these X11 miners will decide to sell their hardware equipment and invest in Masternode Shares. Maybe these
X11 miners will decide to just cease operations and leave Dash.

There are a lot of ways this could play out in the long term, depending on what Dash in the end choose as solution to handle its inflation rate and improve its store of value.

Proof of stake? I thought you guys are professionals) feels like a completely commercial decision pushed by long consequences of bitmain monopoly. idea of adding new flow of income is good, but PoS would give tooooo much power to some network users. there might be a way to make it mild with less impact, some passive flavor with certain conditions, etc. but dropping healthy and secured pow because of $$...

if i would be one of users who paid thousands of dollars for x11 box - id be veeery pissed))))

There are several options or even combination of options available to Dash, which will need to be researched, documented, discussed and then voted upon by masternode owners.
Which will take time, a lot of time.

* It could be a form of ChainLocks staking for users that offers better security, then the more typical PoS models out there. Dash has some advantages in that area, thanks to its multi-tiered network.
* It could be a form of Masternode Shares. This will be a solution with more focus and more impact on the masternode network. Its something that has been requested by the Dash community for a long time.
* It could be a form of staking through deterministic holders listing. It will need a minimum number of Dash (100 Dash has been mentioned as an example), to protect the Dash network against overload.
* It could be a form of ChainLocks staking & PoW as backup. Dash miners influence on the network will be reduced, but we will still need to make sure that X11 hashing power remains dominant on Dash network
(to protect Dash from 51% attacks from other X11 networks).

Source : https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=12401&v=ie7fJMw5WIo&feature=emb_logo

Also i'm pretty sure there will be a lengthy grace period for miners, if the decision is to phase out Dash mining completely. Also if we were to compare this to Ethereum's decision to switch to PoS,
i'm not seeing a whole lot of pissed Ethereum miners there either, so why would there be pissed Dash miners when we are obviously still in such an early stage ?

I agree with Ryan Taylor that something needs to be done about Dash high inflation rate (7.5%). Not to benefit Dash economically in the short term, but to benefit Dash economically in the long term.
This is just the start of a Dash community-wide discussion, about what Dash can do about its inflation rate and what Dash can do to increase its store of value. Two important topics of discussion.

I counted at best 235 people online. 235! when there are almost 5000 master nodes.
The only thing that explains this is that these nodes are in very few hands. Any holder, holder of one or more nodes would do the impossible to listen to the live talk.

Relax dude, people live in different timezones. The world is not the US (only). The conference is here to watch:

https://youtu.be/ie7fJMw5WIo

Yep, more then 3000 views (i also did not watch live).

I think Ryan made a good move by adding possible PoW model changes and possible Governance model changes to the agenda of the Open House, as a way of officially kicking off the discussion
on those two topics (it gets maximum attention and maximum publicity during such an event).

I also think this will get us lengthy and time-consuming discussions, and the results of these discussions and polling proposals (several months later) will do little to our current bear market situation.
But i can see the outcome having more of an impact on Dash future market cycles, if the solution indeed manage to bring the inflation percentage down from 7% to a much more competitive inflation percentage
and if the solution can indeed strengthen Dash store of value.

To those of you feeling bored on this sunday :

Link : https://github.com/dashpay/dash/releases
Just remember to check the hashes of the binaries !

To masternode owners : latest version of Sentinel is 1.4.0, so no need to also update Sentinel (unless you are on an older version).

On a side note : i do hope that once Dash Core v1.0 gets released on the Github Master directory somewhere in 2020, it will also be announced pretty soon after on all platforms simultaneously.
Which means avoiding a Github release in the weekends and taking into account the different time zones during the week.

Let the discussions about Dash PoW limitations and the possible (rather Dash specific) ways of changing this, begin Grin

Will Dash be moving away from PoW (mining), to some form of ChainLocks/BLS based staking ? Or will Dash change from PoW into a hybrid form (PoW & ChainLocks/BLS staking) ?
Or will there be support for another solution ? Watch below referred Youtube video and stay tuned....

Thank you all for participating in the spreading of fake news.

quotation from OP
Quote
A senior advisor for the Dash Core Group has apparently disappeared with the funds of several investors.
Concerned parties within the community are left trying to put together the pieces.

A prominent individual within the Dash Core Group has apparently gone missing in what is increasingly looking like an exit scam.
The now-gone senior advisor for Dash, known by his moniker ‘moocowmoo,’ was also the owner of a service specializing in ‘masternode shares.’
The individual has disappeared and apparently run away with the funds of several Dash investors.

https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/moocowmoos-mn-shares-not-returning-funds.49017/#post-218323

You can't have both an Dash exit scam / someone disappearing with Dash funds and Dash users reporting that they got their funds back.

It also shows that very few people actually read the comments of this thread. Of course there are also people who are just responding to the IDAX incident and that is fine.
But those of you that responded or plan to respond to the Dash insinuation need to understand that insinuation has proven to be false / incorrect !

Users by now already received their funds back, there was no exit scam and no senior adviser of Dash Core Group ran off with any funds.
Above quotation from OP (page 1, post 1) is the fake news part of this thread. Just a bunch of personal assumptions of OP that proved to be incorrect.

Only correct and honest thing to do for OP at this point is to update his first post.
975  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After IDAX, now Dash? on: December 05, 2019, 01:07:52 PM
I think I read about this earlier and then they released a news update that this is a hoax and customers coins were never stolen. We need to regulate media in crypto to avoid circulation of fake news

Truth be told there were some users that did not get their funds back and had difficulty getting through to moocowmoo for months now. This got resolved recently.

Link : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5206617.msg53263741#msg53263741

But the way this topic has been presented to us indeed has fake news elements in it and/or personal assumptions from OP that were then misrepresented as facts.
That is why it is important these days to not blindly believe anything you read on the internet.
976  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After IDAX, now Dash? on: December 05, 2019, 12:40:42 PM
No one knows how this coin will perform after this news.

Well, since the latest news is that Dash users got their funds back, i guess it can only be performing better.
At least i hope it will.
977  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After IDAX, now Dash? on: December 05, 2019, 12:16:56 PM
All these are common in crypto market this had happened few week before itself not now, even if senior advisor Dash Core has disappeared it will not effect Dash and investors because co-commity has the ability to safe investor funds so I hope all is going well in Dash.

* No Dash senior advisor disappeared with funds
* The issue with some Dash users not automatically getting their collateral back after moocowmoo shutdown his masternode service has been resolved very recently (yesterday)

Link : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5206617.msg53263741#msg53263741

I understand people like to discuss juicy stories, and this certainly looks like a juicy story from the outside.
It has been debunked however and is now (as of today) very much the opposite of what happened with IDAX.

Personally i rather want to know what happened with Monero's official website that got hacked, and injected with coin-stealing malware
that hit at least one user with thousands of dollars ($7000?). Will this user's stolen coins get refunded by Monero's Core Team ?
(the Monero website safety and security is their responsibility after all).

Not a word on how that hack occurred in the first place (inside job ?). Sounds like a much more juicy story to me.
Maybe OP can change title now to "After IDAX, now Monero ?"  Roll Eyes

Looks like those Dash users that not automatically got their funds back after Moocowmo's masternode service got shutdown, are now getting their funds back from moocowmoo  :

https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/moocowmoos-mn-shares-not-returning-funds.49017/#post-218323

I know it has been overdue and frankly a rather frustrating experience for these Dash users who were trying to get their funds back, but it seems to be resolved now.

Bear Market impact on Altcoins and Bitcoin

I wonder if any of these cryptocurrencies actually get to 100% Down from ATH, i suspect not.

Dash Longterm (1W) Price Development

Price : At this point i'm just waiting on the next MA cross and hope it will be a golden cross (bullish indicator).  Currently that means red line (0.0077) needs to cross green line (0.0086) in an upward movement
RSI : With 23.79 the Dash market is giving a slightly oversold signal
MACD : Dash Market still having positive momentum (line still green)
980  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins to go crazy again once Bitcoin reaches 20k? on: November 29, 2019, 09:42:24 AM
I think altcoin season could start way sooner then most people think.

Just think about the previous big bull market, who started that bullmarket first ?
Altcoins or Bitcoin ?

Who's market cycle is likely to be processed fully by now and is turning into a new market cycle ?
Altcoins or Bitcoin ?

What would be more easy for whales ?

Starting and controlling a pump for Bitcoin and create FOMO with it
Starting and controlling a pump with Altcoins (who are by the way on historically low price levels right now) and create FOMO with it

Also remember we still have six months to go before the next Bitcoin halving, that is a very long time in cryptospace.
Bull markets started and ended in such a time period.

The only thing Bitcoin has going for it right now is the Bitcoin halving (that is still half a year away) and support of Bitcoin miners (concentrated in China) resulting in high hashrate.
Bitcoin has an Achilles heel, its called China. God forbid China actually goes after the Bitcoin miners located in China or uses its influence to shut Bitcoin mining pools down there.
Can you imagine the mayhem ?

Bitcoin ETF approval is death in the water, Lightning Network needs a lot more time to find a solution to its routing problem and other problems* and its overall impact is questionable.
Bitcoin at this point just functions as digital gold and is mostly used for speculation.
Those are not very good drivers for a bull market.

* https://www.investopedia.com/tech/bitcoin-lightning-network-problems/

To conclude i like people to think about what happened during Bitcoin's last bull market : very high fees, very slow transaction confirmation times.
This is what drove people / merchants / users away from Bitcoin and into certain Altcoins. This is bound to happen again as Bitcoin has not really addressed the problem,
it just postponed it through SegWit.
