981  Other / Politics & Society / Obama or Romney ? on: August 21, 2012, 12:27:35 PM
Im an aussie so I just watch the show from the outside, but Id say Obama could say nothing for the next ~2+ months and still win - Romney is just so... ugh.

marked minefield as down (temp)
marked chess as offline - sent admin pm to follow up.

edit: chess Admin is active, but distracted with another project - it is unknown when the site will be back up.

Aussie here,

Our country is disgracefully corrupt - Julia-Cunt-Gillard cant wait to hand over Julian Assange to the states.

did i read the fine print right, 100,000,000 shares at .0032 or 3,200,00 btc or more than 30 million usd?

that is insane...

Your math is a little broken there, but as they say practice makes perfect.

I dont see it - checks out fine.
987  Economy / Securities / Re: S.DICE - Want a piece of SatoshiDICE? IPO this week before new site launch! on: August 20, 2012, 05:40:44 AM
I'm not a tech, but I would guess the same thing is stopping someone today that stopped someone up until today. And also the same thing that stopped all the groupon clones from becoming groupon and all the facebook/twitter clones from becoming facebook/twitter. In the words of the once-famous Jerry Seinfeld,

Quote
No Resources, No Skills, No Talent, No Ability...

A very good point, SD did get its name out there and established Smiley

Care to elaborate what mistake was made with the maths.

did i read the fine print right, 100,000,000 shares at .0032 or 3,200,00 btc or more than 30 million usd?

that is insane...

So...all the public shares have a total of 10 millions, that's 10% of total shares.

Let's say I buy 1 million shares to get 1% of satoshidice.

1 000 000 x 0.0032 = 3200 BTC.
It costs 3200 BTC to buy 1%.

Expected to have 2700 BTC / month in total profit. 1% of 2700 BTC = 27 BTC.
It cost me 3200 BTC to get 27 BTC / month and it would take me around 118 months to recoup my initial investment, or around 10 years.

I like satoshidice and I appreciate its potential....but I'm not sure at all.

I am convinced you are not a ponzi scheme - mainly because the returns are so unattractive Tongue

There is at least 1 clone of SD:  http://btcdice.com/
And a "themed" clone of satoshidice: http://satoshiroulette.com/

with the market expected to grow I dont see people ever getting their ROI.

Also Id like to know what bank SD has behind the casino Smiley
989  Economy / Speculation / Re: How low before you buy in? on: August 19, 2012, 10:16:38 AM

990  Economy / Speculation / Re: bottom @ 10.48 or lower tomorrow? on: August 19, 2012, 09:54:11 AM

Why do you register here just for asking this? You could post your question in the SR forum.

FBI just doing a poll for SR users Tongue
992  Other / Off-topic / Re: How does your significant other feel about your bitcoin obsession? on: August 18, 2012, 06:07:21 PM
my SO is sold, she would invest but she considers my investment "our" investment so its not necessary for her to buy any Tongue
She was of mixed minds about the mining investment (ROI concerns) but after studying the price and chinese forums she has no issues, she doesnt mind the noise and likes sitting in the mining room when she comes home as its the only hot room in the house until the heater goes on Wink

in short, the only problem is I have to share my bitcoins.
993  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: August 18, 2012, 05:58:07 PM
moved satoshiroulette out of pending (nice game) and did a bit more formatting.
994  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiRoulette.com - OPEN FOR PUBLIC TESTING on: August 18, 2012, 03:12:22 AM
Just noted an error in the FAQ

Quote
Winning:
0.00000016 is added to your winnings.
 So you would recieve:
 0.200000XX (eg 0.20000016).
Losing:
 you will recieve: 0.20000016

Bolded should be 0.00000016, should it not?

Otherwise looks good, look foward to wasting some money  Cheesy

maybe its legit !, brb Im making several thousand bets against satoshiroulette Smiley
995  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: August 18, 2012, 03:10:46 AM
kamikaze removed Sad
theluckybitcoin removed Sad
edit: diamondco also removed

I still hope to see these sites or games return.

satoshidice is back out of pending Smiley

list layout changed a bit.

Perl script that generates all this now from a .csv file is 90% ready, been quite busy lately but I'll try and finish that this weekend.
996  Economy / Gambling / Re: Complete List of Bitcoin Gambling Websites on: August 15, 2012, 08:37:22 AM
Nice work there buddy Smiley

I'll be along soonish to update my list as well, but in the mean time its good to see my (friendly) competition keeping a list maintained.
997  Economy / Speculation / Re: Interesting Observation on: August 10, 2012, 08:46:47 AM
I think we were just seeing panic buyers fearing the price was about to leave them behind.
998  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holy fuuck, look at that non-wall ! on: August 10, 2012, 08:29:12 AM
This (along with corresponding DDos attacks on major pools) was just to get the price back below 11. No theories/conspiracies here. Market is too small, Gox is too big. [full stop]

There is no point to support capitalism in its current failed form, we should not allow new bright technology like Bitcoin to be so blatantly manipulated by pure greed. Please.

Yup, we should create MoralCoin... or Ethicoin... But, if you don't mind, I'll keep my BTC as well  Grin

Well, I guess you are just greedier than me then. Let me know if it does you some good Smiley

Seriously - another ddos on all major pools and at the same time a mysterious ‘bug’ is found in Gox’s code, it also so happens when there is a rally with 60% more bids then asks on the board.

Im going to say Its Pirate.
Organizing the ddos by co-operation with botnet operators.
Starts doing his trading tricks after ensuring the bulk of the bitcoin community cannot trade.

This is the 3rd time we have seen this trick.

1000  Economy / Speculation / Re: maybe someone did just buy all available btc up to max price ? on: August 09, 2012, 12:49:31 PM
Personally I cry that I just sold 100 @ $11.50 but at the same time am relieved Im still siting only a good amount Smiley
There are still plenty of cheap coins on the other exchanges Wink
