It's still kind of amazing to me that Gox is basically just one probably tiny office in Shibuya or something

Like if anyone was sufficiently furious and insane they could just sabotage the physical space and cause utter mischief

Meanwhile could it be that given the current value of BTC they've changed the limit of BTC withdrawals per-period without telling anyone? Verified limit per month is like $10k, that's just 10BTC now

The problem with Gox is fiat withdrawals not BTC....
They have 3 weeks queue as they replied me on a ticket.....
986  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: January 25, 2014, 03:49:01 PM
If no change is going to come from MtGox in the next few days i do believe we are going DOWN!!!!!!

i agree with you that is seriously BAD news!!!

Someone is playing with OUR money.....
987  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: January 25, 2014, 03:32:30 PM
UPDATE about Withdrawals on MtGox.

I have a reply from the Support team (AFTER 3 days! i don't know if this is good or not... i must be lucky or something with what i read from other people)
saying that as of 25th January each client has the option for 1 withdrawal each 20 days estimate!!!!!!!

What is going on people?Huh Does the MtGox holding OUR funds (our btc and money)? ? ?

Can you imaging withdrawing 18.000€ ... suppose you have the limit of 1.000 and 20 days for each you will need about 14 months to have your money !!!

and of course if the situation stays as of 25th ..... if things for wrong what's next? you loose your money?

This i CRAZY!!!!
988  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: January 25, 2014, 08:18:18 AM
Greetings,

It's been 4 days since the withdraw i asked.
And 2 days since i opened a ticket for this to get informed on what is going on.(No reply after 2 days ! ! ! )

We all know that SEPA transactions are very fast. ( in my case in not International Wire is SEPA for sure, i mention this not to get a reply talking about international wire etc... delays)

So what is going on ? ? ?

Does anyone knows anything about this ?

How hard is for MtGox to make a SEPA transaction  ? ?

SEPA transfers take about 3 to 4 weeks. According to MtGox, this is because they have a small(ish) daily quota for outgoing payments at their Polish bank account. That quota, as of now, is supposed to be about 200k€/day = about 6 million €/month. They do report the delay on their faq page. The delay that they report seems to have corresponded with actual experience.

Do not believe anything they imply about SWIFT on their FAQ. They have some issues (probably with regulators) that they're not disclosing, and this means they are not sending regular SWIFT transfers at all. The only SWIFT option that appears to exist is the emergency withdrawal with 5% fee, and even that takes several weeks to be processed.

When you want to buy bitcoins and you deposit in Polish bank it takes 3-4 days to be credited into your acount.(1-2 days to reach the Polish bank)
So the problem is the limit they have as i can undestand but since the ask for this (deposit and withdrawal) is very hi, why they don't establish a new cooperation (firm etc) in London for example? or in Frankfurt? (we all know how UK and Germany approve bitcoin).

That will rise the limit since they are going to have more daily quota....

And one more question... it's been 3 days now with no reply on my ticket...at least they must reply on time ...

Just to make clear i like MtGox and i support it but this is a problem they must solve right now...not in a month...

ebay
eBay is launching a dedicated Virtual Currency category on eBay Classifieds in the UK on 10th February.

The Classified Ads category will allow for the sale of all types of digital currency, including bitcoin and litecoin, eBay representatives have confirmed.

eBay Classifieds, which lists posts throughout the site, serves as the site’s answer to Craigslist. eBay provides the free platform for local buyers and sellers to connect, but does not participate in the transactions.

HODL!!!!!
992  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 15, 2014, 09:47:00 PM
So what you guys are saying is;
I should sell now.
Panic buy back when the price rises $10
Cry, whine, hope, hodl in utter desperation hoping for it to reach my buy in again.
Finally cave and panic sell at the bottom.
Watch it skyrocket back up and buy back again at the top?

So basically just HODL is the bet strategy right?

let me put it this way...

let's say we are back in 1995 for example and you buy the domain http://www.apple.com/     right?

would you sell it after some days or months? i think you would hold it...

that's what we have with bitcoin....but this one is much much more faster ....
you will see big big rise of the price in the next couple of weeks.....

EDIT: remember my words....

have a look here

* macsga thinks it's time to refresh this into our memories... Roll Eyes
I personally follow and post here the UPDATED 5 rules of success for you:

1. Don't get emotional from other's people thoughts.
2. Not everyone here is a "nice person" you can trust.
3. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, DON'T TRADE.
4. HODL!!!
5. Until you desperately need the money follow rule #4.

Good Luck!

WARNING!!!!

If you are a troll DON'T follow the above lines....

994  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 13, 2014, 08:39:16 PM
the bearishness can you feel it?  Cheesy

I can feel it, yes.

I almost sold in panic at the recent bottom. Might be a sign the bottom is in, but the panic was still manageable, so maybe we have some ways to go yet.

??!??!??!??

lol

maybe I should clarify: When I say "I sell", I really mean: sell my trading stash (or part thereof), which is about 5% of my coins.

So I never sell more than 5%.

EDIT: although I've been trying to change that as per rpietilas divestment strategy... but it's hard.

Jesus Christ; you really got me there for a sec... Wink
BTW: you may have missed this:
Aside from the trollbox this thread is, it gives me great pleasure reading the comments of (generally) VERY smart people. Sanity is what one should have when he/she deals wirh btc. Sanity to keep his/her nerve when everybody is selling and/or buying. There always was and there always will be reasons for people to buy or sell bitcoins.

Remember only this:

You're here either by investigating or by early information. In both cases you're here by CHOICE; and a rather bold one.
Chances are most of the people in this thread won't be here after a couple of years. I present here some reasons about it:

1. Every person has a price in life. There's a certain figure that you would give up your coins for a totally different way of living. Don't get me wrong; this is normal. It's done when we reached $266. It's done when we reached $1242. It will happen again on the next ATH. You might be among the ones that got the decision.

2. The BTC is regulated heavily (see China but imagine x1000) and people are forcibly moving out of the boat while it's sinking. This is unlikely but there's a possibility (as big as a HUGE meteor hits earth in the next 24hrs and vanishing everyone among us from its surface).

3. Due to extreme FUD you're forced to get out. This is the most unfortunate scenario and you REALLY don't want to be in this position within the next months.

There will be fire ladies and gents. In the next few months bitcoin will be HUGE! Imagine exponential stuff. The news is out there but we just didn't see them in front of our eyes yet. I know you may have cold feet now but you will be in the warm side of the fireplace when it gets hotter.

PS:
Don't forget to HODL!!!!1

+1 +2 +3 +4 +5 ..... etc.....

i thank the ignore button for trolls and macsga for his posts Smiley

Guys, price is dropping. The rules of this thread specifically state that Bulls are not welcome during the "bear" I told you this was coming day. Please come back tomorrow when this nonsense is over.

one question puzzling me, let say during 2013 what was total time with btc rate on the way down, and how it compares to the total time it was going up.

that's a thought i like very much
