761  Economy / Economics / Re: War: who benefits and how! on: July 31, 2023, 06:20:40 PM
I think, bad leaders are the one benefiting from war most because war always give them access to make a huge demand from the government resources that will affect the economy and the citizens of those two party, which they will not use the money to solve the problem in the land. Like the war that is going on between Ukraine and Russia government, if the world peace Makers can investigate the cause of the war very well, you will discover that the bad leaders in the two countries are the one looking for way to loot the government resources. I believe, very soon the war will be over, and those behind the war will be brought to book , and they will definitely vomit what they have consum from the war.
In the war between Russia and Ukraine, Russia is the aggressor, that is, the attacking side. Its bad and bloodthirsty leader Putin would have won if, as he expected, he would have captured Ukraine in a short time. But he miscalculated and Ukraine, with the support of other states, inflicted colossal material and human losses on the aggressor. This hit Putin's image very painfully, and he, and possibly the state itself, will not recover from this.
I am sure that Putin is now very sorry that he attacked Ukraine, but it is already impossible to return to the position before the attack.

I remember there was a quote that said: you may have won the battle, but we have won the war; but everyone lost.

This quote really hits deep when you think about the consequences of war both in the winner and on the loser side. Sure, the winner may have won but at what cost? Money on ammunition, explosives, etc. have been used; lives were lost; and the economic impact which would therefore last for ages would soon hit the country.

In war, the only one that benefits is actually no one. Everyone is lost during the war due to its overall impact to everyone,

which will be a perfect media  to informate and educate ourselves on bitcoin.
Your choice of words in that expression sounds like what I know. I want to believe you're a Nigerian. You can find other Nigerians in our local board here. Whether there or here, feel free to express yourself and don't be bothered by whatever rank difference your find around. Keep off plagiarism and make sure you obey other forum rules. You will be fine if you do all that.

Just to add from what you have mentioned, following and observing the forum rules is extremely essential in order to prevent yourself from getting banned. I also recommend that you also utilize the search bar in the forum to ask anything in particular. This also helps in avoiding multiple threads that have the same question, which was already answered already.

Lastly, I also recommend that you enjoy your journey without rushing things quickly. The journey of BTC is going to be the most fun that you would experience and it is also going to be a wild ride! Best of luck, OP!
763  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is not a steady income haven on: July 31, 2023, 03:25:55 PM
Maybe when they are in a winning position, and why they return to gambling is because they feel that making money from gambling is an easy thing than doing a business that requires a lot of effort, a lot of time, a lot of energy and a lot of capital to build, because that's the reason they always back into gambling, and thought that he would get a continuous income from gambling, even though that was foolishness, gambling is a place for fun, not a place to gamble fate.
If they will continue with this kind of mindset they will start to quit their jobs thinking that they already found a passive income which is not. If they did this it will just only gambling with their entire life and career as well. Some people can really create money with gambling those are veterans and they know how to disciplined themselves so there is no problem with that of course.

Experienced gamblers who can control their emotions and can also control their finances, it's important to have that kind of capabilities to lessen the risk of losing a lot, those veteran gamblers are people who take time to learn the process, it's not easy but there are some who really capable in controlling the risk and having better outcome, though the numbers are far lesser compared from those who are losing a lot and unable to control and some are being led to addictions.

This is the potential dangers of gambling- it gives you this sense of accomplishment whenever you win an amount of money. It somehow fools you into thinking that such venture can be profitable but in reality it is not.

Experienced gamblers often have the tools in order to prevent from getting too addicted. Even if they do know what to do, they are still victims of a risky venture. As far as I know, these experienced gamblers view gambling as something that must be done rather than a form of entertainment. With this, they can shift their priority and prevent themselves from getting too addicted in the first place.
764  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is Gamble gaining more fans than Bitcoin? on: July 31, 2023, 01:32:15 PM
In the world to day gambling is leading instead of BitcoinBTC (crypto currency) and more are still wanting to join gambling because the minimum age to gamble is 18+ and lot of upcomings are waiting and this is the total amount of gamblers, so let's talk about the crypto currency (Bitcoin) we all know that Bitcoin is a good investment and it has changed a lot in the crypto world but the interesting part is that the numbers of Bitcoin investors can't be compared to gamble and my question is Why? or  is the risk involved in Bitcoin higher than gambling risk?
Just chesk this source

Just to clear your thread, you are asking which is risker- either investing in BTC or gambling?

To answer your question, gambling is the riskiest venture that a person can enter into. No matter how experienced you may be, you are against the odds which cannot be controlled. Sure, there may be techniques and tips in order to lessen the risk but the odds are still the odds.

Some may argue that investing is gambling in itself due to the unpredictability of the result. Though this is true, it only applies to a certain extent since there are methods and factors that can somehow give you an accurate forecast on the price of BTC on the market.
765  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Irresponsible behavior at the Las Vegas Casino on: July 30, 2023, 09:23:59 PM
I’ve been to Vegas 3 times and I can tell you now, I have seen and experienced some things that I have seen nowhere else, and I’m quite well travelled too Cheesy

It isn’t really restricted to gamblers, people go to Vegas to party. There are lots of bachelor parties etc, the guy mentioned in the OP may not have even been a big gambler. He’s probably just a guy that got too fucked up. This type of behaviour isn’t limited to gamblers or Vegas in isolation. People get out of control every weekend, life is tough, people like to party but it’s good not to humiliate yourself and get arrested in the process Grin

While we may have our respective rights, this should be respected and used in a way so as not to distract and hinder other people as well. Sure, the person may have won something or be in a good mood but such action does not justify on why he bothered and annoyed other casino members as well.

This kind of behaviour can be considered normal depending on the country where you are staying but it is just truly weird and frightening at the same time. Who knows what other bizarre actions the person may do when he is in a good mood or when he breaks his limits in the future.
766  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sharing your Bitcoin journey on: July 30, 2023, 09:08:37 PM
1. what sparked your interest in this decentralized digital currency. "BITCOIN"

When I first started my journey way back in 2017, I pretty knew nothing much about BTC. I just discovered this forum when my friend told me the opportunities of earning money online while enjoying the convenience of doing it on my personal and free time.

Quote
2.How has your knowledge about Bitcoin evolved since joining Bitcointalk?

My knowledge and understanding about cryptocurrencies (BTC) had grown extensively. Before, I used to be this guy who was just focusing on earning but when I understood the potential of applying cryptocurrencies as alternative payments, my curiosity filled with excitement. I will not say that I am somewhat of a pro- but at least I have a good grasp on the fundamentals of it.

Quote
3.Do you have any advice for newcomers who are just starting their Bitcoin journey?

INVEST! While others may contemplate the time on when to invest, I usually tell newcomers that the best time to invest is when you actually discovered the existence of BTC. The reason is simple- by basing it purely on the history of the price of BTC, you would see a pattern/trend where its price continually increases (while occasionally decreases) on the market.

Quote
4. Are there any memorable experiences or interactions you've had with Bitcoin and Bitcointalk that you'd like to share?

Probably one the memorable experience was when I attended this conference in our country when USI-TECH visited. I was not aware of the existence of these so-called "ponzi-schemes" so my young-self got influenced easily and lost a bunch of BTCs worth $100.

This experience really taught me the valuable lesson of being aware. This also inspired me to become a person who advocates in providing a clean and scam-free forum.

Quote
5. How much help do you think Bitcoin has been of help to you since you learnt about it.

The journey of acceptance of BTC had come a long way. When it was first released, only a few believed and understood the potential of the system. This is also the reason on why at least majority of the users know the 10,000 BTC pizza story.

The help of BTC personally is greatly appreciated given the fact that earning through signature campaigns is one of the most efficient ways of earning money in my country. While the value of money is relative, as someone who is living in a third-world country, every dollar counts.
767  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happens if all forum users exhaust their Smerits? on: July 30, 2023, 08:46:15 PM
There are these so-called "merit sources" that are granted by theymos a specific number of merits (no specific timeframe on when) to be distributed among the users. They are called sources because they have established their credibility on the forum in creating multiple helpful threads and other relevant topics/discussions.

From what I remember, every local board has at least 1-2 merit sources that distributes these merits to the users. They are also tasked to exhaust these merits in order to help and give incentive those people who are contributing greatly to the forum.

In conclusion, if all forum users exhausted their sMerits, then merit sources would be granted an additional set of sMerits which would be distributed again on the forum users.
768  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A weird belief among some gamblers. on: July 30, 2023, 08:25:19 PM
So why this belief or do you think it could be true? Or is it one of those superstitious belief among gamblers?
Do you feel cool sharing your predictions with other people and how has the outcome been looking at all the times you have shared your predictions with others?
The gambler has staked already, so there is nothing that can change that, it is just a superstition if true that is the reason.

But we can think another reasons too. If I am the person that someone asked to stake the bet that I have staked, I will not answer the person if the person is a stranger or we do no know each other very well like a friend. I can let a my brother, family or a friend stake what that I staked, but not just anybody.

Generally, predictions are personal in nature where you are the ones who had created them. Most of the predictions made by gamblers are carefully planned and thought about by considering several factors that can affect the outcome of the game. While some may find it weird, I think the gambler is completely in the right in refusing to share his detailed information by re-betting his current one.

I agree- again, bets are personal in nature and they should only be casted by the gambler himself. But if the person asking for the re-betting is someone close to me, then I would consider re-betting in by considering the circumstances of the situation.
769  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: As a gambler do you have a potential winning amount limit? on: July 30, 2023, 02:51:04 PM
My main focus on this thread is in this question: as a gambler do you place your bet according to the weight of your financial need or you're always okay with whatever amount that comes out as potential win no matter how small amount?

Neither of those choices- I only bet which is included on the extent of the limit that I allow myself to gamble.

Most of the time, I only set a limit to the extent on how much I should gamble a day. Setting a potential limit for winnings is very dangerous as it may lead to a person chasing profits in a very risky and undesirable circumstances.

For example, if a person has a goal of earning $100 in gambling, earning such amount can be relatively difficult especially if that person has a limited budget. Not to mention, there is that risk of losing more than what you have earned in the process.
770  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Active members are promoting Bitcoin mixers, betting or casino. Lmao. on: July 29, 2023, 09:43:15 PM
Just joined BitcoinTalk forum and I must say, I'm quite surprised to see that it has turned into a place where 50% of the forum active members are promoting Bitcoin mixers, betting or casinos. Was hoping for more discussions on the technology and its possibilities.

There is a board specifically for technological discussion and expect majority of forum users wearing a signature that promotes a certain campaign or venture in this forum.

I am curious, however, why are you against about people wearing signatures? Have they intentionally harmed or offended you in some manner? Remember that this forum promotes advertisements in the form of signature campaigns in order to at least earn extra BTCs.

There are many great and smart users who have created various discussion about innovative approaches while promoting their desired campaign. I see nothing wrong with this approach, OP.
771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if salaries were paid in BTC on: July 29, 2023, 05:19:41 PM
A friend of mine in our discussion today about Bitcoin was insisting that salaries and wages be paid in Bitcoin in some countries.
I was of the opinion that the government will not allow fiat to be replaced by Bitcoin .so what is your take on this will it be a positive move on the Bitcoin ecosystem or not

This depends on the law of a country whether they allow the utilization of BTC as legal tender.

In the Philippines, wages/salaries should be paid in the legal tender prescribed by law. Any other means of payment is prohibited and this is strictly followed. If in the event that salaries/wages are being used as payment, then the law should allow so.

Personally, I would prefer that my salary be paid as 50% in fiat; and 50% in cryptocurrency depending on my liking. But this kind of payment method is relatively difficult to accomplish given the structure of payment that must be secured by the company.
772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pros and Cons of Crypto vs. Traditional Gambling on: July 29, 2023, 05:01:34 PM
Bets are in U.S. dollars or other fiat currency
It’s easy to bet in your nation’s currency. Traditional gambling allows us to wager in dollars if we’re a U.S. citizen or Canadian dollars if we’re Canadian.

I'd say that this is a completely irrelevant point. We're at a crypto forum, so everybody here is familiar with crypto payments and people will not call them difficult.
Sure, if you go to a random stranger and tell him that he could bet his local currency or try to do the same in crypto, and he's never heard of it, he'll choose fiat, but I don't think the goal of this thread is to talk about nocoiners and their beliefs.
I'm a bitcoin user and I'm happy if someone gives me the option to pay with cryptocurrency. I'd call that one of the crypto gambling industry's advantages over the traditional industry.

I think the person was just explaining one of the advantages of betting using the fiat of one's national currency, which is the convenience of using such.

In contrast, cryptocurrency gambling requires crypto as your main source of funds in order to gamble. This can serve as a challenge to some countries where they expressly prohibit cryptocurrency utilization. Though some may use VPNs and other systems to conceal their transactions, there is still that potential risk of getting caught and experiencing the consequences of such.

In conclusion, both crypto and fiat gambling have their respective pros and cons. It really boils down to the preference of the person on what kind of currency is available for them at their disposal.
773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ADVICE]Boy Wins $46k from Sports Bet but Can't Tell Strict Religious Parents... on: July 29, 2023, 04:42:38 PM
<...snip...>
What do you guys think? Should he tell his parents or secretly invest the money while acting his regular self around the house?

In my opinion, the boy should NOT tell their parents about his gambling activities. It will basically bring more harm than good- the boy is aware that what he did was wrong and if he sweared that he would not gamble again, then the best action is to just keep it to himself.

I have a question- is the boy living comfortably? Is his family not financially challenged or struggling to make ends meet? If no, then he should just re-invest his money to make the most out of this luck. If yes, I think he is somehow obligated to tell his parents in order to at least help the family financially.
774  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Bitcoins to never gamble again. Will you take it? on: July 29, 2023, 01:19:24 PM
Hey fellow gamblers, I don't know if this question has been asked before on this forum. If it has , please let me know and I will lock it and move it to archival.

My question is this, if you were given 5 Bitcoins to never gamble again for the rest of your life, will you take it? Considering that first you will already be rich or the prospect of getting rich is high from it. And also if you play your cards right by investing the 5 Bitcoin properly, it could also mean generational wealth. Or will you say that 5 Bitcoins can't match the thrill and pleasure that comes from gambling, be it at a physical casino or an online casino.

Nope I will not take the risk of gambling away 5 BTCs considering that its value is a life-changing amount, at least to my country.

As someone who lives in a third-world country, receiving 5 BTCs is like equivalent of having a good and comfortable home with a running car. This kind of amount can actually be a game-changer given the fact that competition of money is significantly high.

With this in mind, I cannot bear to risk 5 BTCs given that it can totally change my life for good. Sure, the thrill of gambling such huge amount may give a boost to my adrenaline but I just cannot accept the circumstance of losing everything in the event that I lost.
775  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Mobile App for Bitcointalk forum??? on: July 28, 2023, 05:47:57 PM
I am sure this has been discussed a few times here on the forum and I am against it as the forums work perfectly fine in the browser on your phone.
It's an Old SMF Forum however the mobile responsiveness is there. So I don't think we need a dedicated app just to access Bitcointalk. If someone from the community wants to make one with some mods, go ahead.

I would not personally prefer to use the forum with an app.

I agree- this has been previously mentioned and there was even a thread where a user attempted to add a "dark mode" on the forum outlook.

Though this may be the case, the forum is good as it is. Its simplicity is what drives it more efficient and convenient to use compared if you implement it on different features. What you see on your laptop is the same UI if you access it on your mobile phone.

While there may be previous discussions about creating a specific mobile application for this forum, I will most likely NOT use it but such development is welcomed.
776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are you not hodling on: July 28, 2023, 05:25:47 PM
I think the reason is due to my weekly/monthly expenditures.

Unfortunately, what I earn monthly is insufficient for the expenses that I incur almost every month. With the BTCs that I receive from my campaign signature, this somehow alleviates my expenses and it supports majority of my purchases. Instead of HODLing, I use my BTCs in which I always regret, to say the least. I just hope that I get motivated enough to actually save my BTCs for the incoming fork this 2024.

At the end of the day, it really boiled down on how I view my expenses. As someone who is still studying, I do admit the fact that I chose to live this kind of lifestyle- where I buy food at least 3-4 times/day.
777  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: July 28, 2023, 04:54:35 PM
It would be better for PSG if Mbappe stays in the team. I'm sure the money isn't the problem because PSG made him an offer he couldn't normally refuse. Everyone has a dream, and it seems Mbappe is determined to follow his dream. With the possibility of transferring to Real Madrid, he also rejects this crazy offer of PSG.
Mbappe himself also has certain reasons for rejecting an offer from PSG for now because now there are rumors about an even crazier bid from PSG for Mbappe. Namely an offer that came from the Saudi Arabian club this summer so it might not be possible for Mbappe to turn to another team and could also allow him to leave PSG at this time. Although Mbappe can still refuse that crazy offer in favor of a team that is more successful than PSG, namely Real Madrid.

If these rumors continue to rise, then it looks like it will indeed be a reality for Mbappe to leave. But indeed, at least PSG still has the ability to be able to hold Mbappe from leaving. Thus, it seems that Luis Enrique ability at this moment will also be needed, at least Luis Enrique can convince Mbappe to stay too. But indeed, at least to convince Mbappe to stay is not an easy job because after all, at this moment Mbappe is no longer easy to be tricked by money. Because also, Mbappe seems to have realized too, that his priority at the moment is to achieve the best results in every competition by winning titles and trophies.

There was this article that was posted on Forbes that Mbappe was offered a staggering amount of $1.1 Billion for a 'lifetime contract' by the PCG. Though I do not know if he would accept this or not, this is just completely outrageous to hear. If he were to accept this, it would be the highest money paid for an athlete in the whole history of sports.

While I do understand that Football is the most famous sport in the world, hearing that teams are willing to dish out this amount of money may inspire others to do their very best in the most competitive sport ever. I just hope that he remains on the team as he cements the achievement of being Top 1 in the world of football.

778  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling should be play with care on: July 28, 2023, 04:11:01 PM
If we planned our gambling bet we should not be going crazy after when we have not meet up our target in gambling, what i expected every gambler is to make table of how much should be spend in gambling and how much should go investment, because money we loses in gambling continuously if we gather it together it will sum up to start a little business. I'm say play gamble with experience, don't use all you have for casino gambling

I think that majority of the gamblers do not think about the statistics- what they aim for is the hope that it can give to players in the event that one wins the jackpot.

Gambling is a deceiving act- it can either make or break one's life depending on the extent of addiction that it has affected a person. Given on this kind of factor, most gamblers aim in profiting rather than entertainment. With this, people go overboard their expenditures in hopes of winning that coveted jackpot that can change their lives.

Unfortunately, the only way that a person can stop such addiction is by really acknowledging that they indeed suffer from it. If they are willing to let go and substitute another act, then the chances of one recovering from this addiction is significantly higher compared to others that do not.
779  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling experience using loan money on: July 28, 2023, 03:09:07 PM
I knew that there's many topic like this in the past that asking advice about loaning for gambling. The intention of this thread is determined what's the actual feeling when you are using a loan money on gambling knowing that there's an interest rate on your borrowed money which means you already lose part of your money before you start gambling.

I saw many high rank users here that asking for loan and directly deposit the loan amount on gambling account. I want to know what's the experience on using loan money. Is there additional pressure on gameplay or just the same using regular money without an interest rate.

I tried it before where I loaned money in order to gamble and the end result was the expected- my debt increased and I extended my loan in order to answer for the expenditures it costed for me to gamble.

At the end of the day, this really boils down on the reason on why you gamble in the first place. If you are chasing for profits, then expect losses at the same time due to the nature of it. If you gamble for entertainment, then the value on how much you bet is somehow irrelevant.

The lesson is here is to AVOID gambling using loaned money as the result is something that can further pile up and increase your debts/loan in the future.
780  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Irresponsible behavior at the Las Vegas Casino on: July 27, 2023, 09:10:32 PM
A man run naked in a Las Vegas casino (Linq Casino) and jumped on the poker table and started to dance. He was arrested instantly by the security, however his family says that he was drunk and therefore he did such type of act.

The point here is why gamblers do such shameless acts and what the rules of the casino suggest the penality for these acts. Do you think the gambler did it purposefully perhaps to become popular in the headlines  Huh

Probably the guy had some sort of mental disorder/disease that made him dance naked and disrupt gambling activities. No way in their right mind would do this kind of activity even if one is drunk with alcohol.

We can also assume that maybe the person felt a stream of positive emotions due to the fact that he won his game in gambling. That can explain this kind of behaviour but it still does not justify on why he needed to be naked in the first place.

At the end of the day, these are just the acts that you occasionally see when people are pushed to their limits. Many gamblers also experience this kind of emotion but some even drive themselves to death in the event of a losing streak in which they lost all of their money from gambling.
