141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy Bitcoins before the upcoming banking crisis states author of Rich Dad Poor D on: August 23, 2020, 06:11:27 AM
Reading news like this sometimes do scares me, and I usually think maybe things like this will only happen in years to come, because I can't imagine a world without fiat just crypto, it sounds like the future, i hope there won't be any major crisis that will affect people financially.

It's possible to experience world without fiat currencies, but it's unlikely to happen. US Dollar is the most dominant fiat around the world. But it does not mean that without it's store of value, their are other fiat currencies that can took place over USD like Euro.
So basically, the world does not fully depend on US Dollar.
142  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: UnionBank SMS phishing scam alert! on: August 23, 2020, 04:46:18 AM
note: hindi sakin to nangyari may nag share lang sakin sa FB news feed ko and I decided to share it here baka may mga members na gumagamit ng UnionBank dito.

I'll post some photo for referrence

143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need suggestion for making a video on bitcoin on: August 23, 2020, 02:35:51 AM
I have planned to create a video on bitcoin in my local language in order to create awareness among local users. Although there are a lot of videos on bitcoin in my local language, none of them are correct or shared right information. Most of them are misleading which is a great threat towards the adoption here in my local.
So, I thought to stand up and create video with useful and right information. I have checked most of the videos and created a list of all the misleading information. Planned to discuss on these matters. However, I need your suggestion. I want to make a killing video which will be the best one in my local language so that everyone can get the correct information.
For your info, I'm not a youtuber, have not created much professional video. I have talked with one of my friends for making my video more impressive.
So, where can I start? What should I give priority?
Here's the plan-
1. Will share a clear idea of what bitcoin is.
2. Will discuss about the technical part as much as possible (As much as need to learn as an user).
3. Will bring the misleading information and correct them.
4. Will talk about the benefits of using it.
5. Will show some real adoptions worldwide.
What do you think? Will it be enough or I should talk about more?

You should start with the idea of how bitcoin works. Don't put too much technical terms because some of these are really hard to digest so, if you can simplify the terms or even the meaning of it, much better.

Keep it short and simple. Don't make a 30-minute video because the attention span of a person only takes a few minutes so, make sure that in a short clip, you somehow discuss where should they engage and where they shouldn't. Discuss not only the benefits but also the cons of using bitcoin.

You can make a separate video for every topic so it wont get long and boring for your viewers.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Taxes on Bitcoins: Unreasonable or essential? on: August 23, 2020, 01:59:17 AM
Bitcoin is not created by the government, so taxing them is unnecessary. If taxed, do it with bitcoin trading companies and cryptocurrency exchanges. Given the current transaction volume, the crypto market is too small to be taxed. When the crypto market is big enough like the forex market, taxation makes more sense.

In our country, taxes on bitcoin is still a debate. They're still discussing it with the crypto experts. But for me, if ever that they will place tax on bitcoin they should make sure that it is reasonable enough.

There was this article that I've read and it states that any income in whatever form here in the Philippines is taxable according to the national internal revenue code of our country.

145  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Carlos dominguez vs banks on: August 22, 2020, 04:55:57 PM

146  Other / Meta / Re: Using Automated Translation Tool to Post on English Boards, is it Allowed? on: August 20, 2020, 02:19:11 PM
I'd report (1) as broken English, and (2) as plagiarism.

Have you read the thread? It clearly states that he translated it from Arabic and even indicated the link of the article in his OP:

Meaning he didn't stole it and claim it as his works nor him being the author. Reporting such actions would simply imply that we need to report those english board to local board translators as well as those whom translated many articles just to share such article to the forum? It was never been prohibited, as long as they didn't use such translators for most of their threads nor just ot be fit on english nor any local board.

Posting on local boards with automated translation tools is not allowed according to rule #27. But there is no rule that prohibits doing the same from another language into English. Roll Eyes

That's an unofficial rule lol. But yes, no rule nor past events had been implied with such translations.

@Eureka_07,

What factors have you considered justifying that his thread was automated and never been his own translation??
147  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be carefull Newbies! Fake exchange promocodes scams on: August 19, 2020, 11:43:13 AM
I have recently signed up on the trust(lol)coin exchange because someone here was saying there was a promocode for a few free satoshis, I redeemed the code and tried to withdraw, it said I had to play atleast one roulette game before i can, which is what I did, and it said I had to deposit 0.016 to prevent abuse from the promo code. This is obviously a Scam!

This shouldnt be here in the Bitcoin Discussion board, if you are pertaining to the beginners and newbies out there, better post this on Beginners and Help board to make the forum clean. You can find the move button on the lower left most part of this thread.

With regards to the topic, it is really obvious that such promotions and referral are just scams, maybe not explicitly soliciting investments to continue the direct withdrawal, but rather make you go from point to point and deceive you that you earn this huge amount then just require investment in the end. Investment in general isn't that bad, yet it must not be that huge. Take Roobet as an example, which they only require a dollar investment so you can withdraw, but you can still have the dollar back after withdrawal.

149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using crypto to help Hong Kong on: August 19, 2020, 06:04:48 AM
There sure is a good number of HK donation websites popping up here and there since the fiasco, but I'm personally more comfortable in donating through the Human Rights Foundation. Idunno, I'm more comfortable donating through them as I feel like it's more guaranteed that my money is going somewhere.

I strongly agree to this. Due to the popularity of the alliance, many would rather donate online and mostly to them. Hence, there are a lot of organizations that has the same idea as the ACHK that haven't had any spotlight to gain popularity, but the movement and purpose remains one.

Also, by looking in the website of Alliance Canada Hong Kong, I'm somehow bothered by how it looks. Yes, UI and UX doesn't mean as long as the website serves its purpose, but then many might use such opportunity to create nor make bad actions, especially be soliciting money that wouldn't go directly to the movement.

The coin was METP, I invested at the price of $0.0004 some weeks ago, but the coin is now at $0.000002, I invested $100 and it has now vanished, I do not even have $1 remaining again and it was a lost that really depressed me.
Lesson learned. You should be more careful next time. If you are to invest on shitcoins, be much careful.
Look closely to it's current value and do not hope that it will stay on it's average price for a long time. Sell them quickly if you already profited.
It's a dangerous investment if you did not watch and do some action in a particular period of time.

152  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: which is a good option?? Trade or Hodl on: August 16, 2020, 11:33:35 AM
It will highly depend on what coin you are planing to invest. If it is bitcoin, for me the best option is to trade it because as what's on the market, we are bitcoin's value is like a roller coaster.
So it is better wait for it to go down, ride on it, and then wait until it reached the top again.
Holding is still a good option, but I see buying and selling for now as the best thing to do.
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I like to learn and use bitcoin on: August 16, 2020, 11:09:37 AM
Cryptocurrency is all about learning new things

Nah, I do not agree. Cryptocurrencies ofcourse is not "all" about learning new things, rather it is a new technology that we can use with many different advantages.
You can trade them, use them for payments, for gifts, and a lot more. It is just like a money, the only difference is that it has so much volatility. And a lot of opportunities that we can take through that.
154  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: which is a good option?? Trade or Hodl on: August 16, 2020, 10:46:25 AM
In addition, many new cryptocurrencies appeared in 2020, I hope to see many of them in the future.

I hope to see more coins that has something to offer. Not just using them for trading.
They should have a proper foundation, just like an bitcoin and ethereum. They are very useful on our society nowadays, we can create more things using these kind of technologies.
New coins must innovate wisely otherwise they will just be considered as shits on crypto world.
155  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the best platform for quickly purchasing bitcoin? on: August 16, 2020, 10:22:20 AM

What is the best platform for purchasing bitcoin quickly, without a long verification process, and with relatively low fees?

If you want to buy bitcoin quicker, you might want to consider buying them on decentralized exchanges.
Much faster since you they won't require your identity.
There are also exchanges that passing KYCs are optional, but they are centralized,  still you can easily buy and sell bitcoins there, also for other cryptocurrencies.

156  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: CHRISTIAN ALBERT GAZA a.k.a "Xian Gaza" Introduce his own coin on: August 16, 2020, 09:51:31 AM

157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is purpose of archive post? on: August 16, 2020, 09:29:25 AM
Archive - according to google dictionary it is a collection of historical documents or records providing information about a place, institution, or group of people.

Other users had pointed out already about it. But I think I can only add is that when you archive a file you can come back for it whenever you needed. It could be use as a reference to a something very important in the future. I have never been into making or doing archive of files instead I will just make a google search everytime I am confuae and needed a further explanation or information regarding to a certain topic wanting to learn.

Indeed. It lessens our time finding those files that we are needing at the moment.
Archives serves to be an storage of files that you are important. Because why will we archive something if we do not need it?
We put them on a separate storage to find them easily. That's it.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: August 16, 2020, 09:06:07 AM
Explaining on elderly things about bitcoin is pretty hard. I tried it on my parents but they are having hard time understanding what I am trying to explain on them. That is because they are not very inclined on this kind of technology.
But personally, my way is firstly make them understand that bitcoin is a digital currency which they can send and receive bitcoin.

and are Bitcoins scams more frequent because of covid-19?
Not only about covid-19 (e.g. Corona shitcoin, corona fake fundraising), many fraudster use hype or trending topic to gain more traffic (e.g. DeFi, Kobe bryant, Corona etc)

Indeed. And one of pandemic scams common in my local area and might be common in other country as well is simply ponzi schemes saying to earn money by watching youtube videos or anything investment related, as the pandemic made people lose their jobs, and working from home is their last resort.

I wouldn't say that it has any correlation with the Bitcoin's price at all, it is just affecting bitcoin's image as some uses it and cryptocurrency in general to make fraudulent and illegal activities.

~

I just want to add my past thread back in May where it was moved in Off-Topic as I posted it on Beginners and Help I guess. I haven't noticed that you made a list or I might just be blind not to notice. Enough said, I made a thread about Ethical Hacking, more likely onto common files and malicious android application attacks, that I guess, fits perfectly with the topic idea about security and privacy, and somehow IMO helpful.

[DISCUSSION] Why you shouldn't trust any anonymous files and applications.

I have already suggested in my local board to add that, yet I missed suggesting it in here too back then.
