As someone who hasn't synched their client or anything since like 2016, is there anything special we need to do before loading up the latest DVC client, or anything special we need to do with our coins as per the recent changes? I just have my old wallet files...

Anything exciting happening with devcoin?

Not yet but you’re looking at a coin worth $.10.25.  That’s a massive run.

Dav’s $10 goal when it has 200 billion corn much than even Dog’s 130 billion and a coin with pumps From Elon and banks can barely reach $1.

Buy, but I’d much rather wait for an ltc solution.

I pay less attention to what it's worth in fiat and more compared to BTC. I remember when there was solid liquidity on exchanges and it was still worth 120-200 sats each. That's what the goal should be again.

Just saw all of this. I'm trying to claim ref rewards as well but on the BTC side it keeps erroring and saying the ref wallet is empty. Looking forward to being able to move it all out and I'll be eagerly awaiting your next adventure!

Ain't good experience. Deposited 0.015 BCH, I am the only whale at that moment.

Wait, 0.015 BCH ($7.66 USD) makes someone a whale now? I'm going to toss in $10 and be a mega-whale!

What about depositing 100$ and become megalodon.

Based on his criteria, I believe it would only take around $25! I could see him going into a casino: "I am infuriated! I am a WHALE at this establishment! I've lost a whole $10 here in the past and I am VERY upset that your games took my money without giving me a profit! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? I BROUGHT A WHOLE $10 INTO THIS CASINO AND YOU WILL TREAT ME LIKE A VIP!"

I don’t know who the lead dev here is or if you have one.  If you don’t I’ll gladly submit my resume.  Anyway, there seems to be a lack of focus or vision on what’s gonna be big in the tech/communications world.  I think Keybase is gonna be at least as be as telegram.  I just wanted to let the community know that as far as Keybase goes I’ve got it covered.  And I threw in an forward thinking avatar hoping to attract the original bitcoin adopters - the whole anonymous/privacy thing is still going strong.  We may just get all those whale bitcoin early adopters with this plan.

I wasn't aware Keybase was even still a thing. I had created an account way back in the day and have completely forgotten about it. People use that?

I don’t know what it was like back then but right now it’s like telegram built around crypto for crypto.  It’s quite amazing when you think of the potential.

It used to be sort of like LinkedIn, in a way. Just a way to verify identity IIRC. That was back when it was brand new though so I have no doubt it's grown since it's still around now. I'll look into it when I have time!

just chiming in to say that i had a couple hundred thousand dogecoin on this website and they vanished.

What a disaster, base on the current conversion it is more than $5k usd. I wonder why you decided to put that huge amount money in their platform and now the team behind the dead platform are enjoying your money.

I really hate this kind of scenario where the creators of a certain platform will just vanished easily after they can get what they want. I hope that you have learned from your mistake and never to trust your money to a non reputable platform again.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't be considered as a reputable site. When they were still running, they were trusted. They even had a lot of high-rollers back then. I personally wouldn't have qualms with trusting them in the day.

The info given from Antilly is very detailed, and far more than I expected to see from them. It does two things for me personally:

1) Makes it a lot easier to gauge what they are looking for and what DVC needs to help come back on the map/dominate
2) Builds trust in them since they are clearly doing their research

Now, one part that I found a little backwards is the shop info. One of their negatives is that there aren't many/any stores accepting DVC right now, but part of that reason could just as easily be that it's not as liquid right now and shops of most types have their own expenses (i.e., if I'm selling phones at a 5% markup, I still need to get that 95% from somewhere to pay for the phone and restock. If I can't sell any of the coins on an exchange, I can't viably run a business).

Devcoin could probably get listed for free on Fides Exchange. Lots of dead shitcoins have got that deal.

It would be mutual beneficial for both. Fides gets new customers and promotion through devcoin twitter/bitcointalk/medium channels. And devcoin gets a new ltc/dvc market pair.

https://fidesexchange.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/47001120148-listing-request-form

It's been 9 years to the day since Block 0. It's hardly a dead shitcoin. Maybe just undervalued abstract coin.

Agree. But if they list dead shitcoins they should definitely list devcoin.  Smiley

Don't you want to buy some more cheap coins in a ltc/dvc market?

(Someone who got all the info they need have to fill out the application.)

@shtako, thanks for letting us know about Fides. Let me wear my Investor Administrator hat for a sec:

1. The listing request form is currently found here
2. Listing Fee is 0.25 BTC
3. BTC/BTC Fork – Must comply with Bitcoin Core API > 0.10 (Devcoin is 0.8 )
4. Principle/Developer [...] must be available and reply to any queries from the exchange within 24 hours

I think that this is a good candidate but we need to do some homework before. Also, I think that exchanges supporting XLM tokens are better suited for Devcoin right now, because we don't need to do any software update and all technical issues are already handled by the people running the Stellar network.

Last but not least, we are already listed on Freiexchange with the BTC/DVC pair. Freiexchange has zero fees for trading, they only charge very reasonable fees for withdrawals. Also, the DVC token is getting more and more trading volume in the Stellar DEX: https://stellar.expert/explorer/public/asset/DVC-GBHAQ252S4Z4AQOM4BWIRC3UHAOJIKCZQBUJGD336YH2O7W2NKRXMHA5, where we can trade for ETH, LTC, XRP, XLM, CENTUS, TFC, IXC and a wealth of Galactic Millieu tokens! We could add more exchanges, but the more I talk with exchanges, the more I tend to think that it is better strategy to first heat up our existing markets.

Go go Devcoin!

The biggest problem with smaller exchanges in my opinion is that they have less eyes. People that would trade DVC may not want to have to sign up to a new exchange just to buy it. I know this is something I dealt with in the past (I signed up to a couple exchanges solely for the purpose of trading -- both buying and selling to help the market -- DVC).

I also question whether or not an exchange that just matches it up with LTC would be a disservice since it creates a virtual wall there. Instead of "Wow, this is worth x BTC" it becomes "Eh, it's worth x LTC but I don't really want to trade into/out of LTC."

Both are my personal opinions on the matter, just wanted to toss them out there.

A representative from WhiteBIT is offering a flexible cooperation in order to help us list Devcoin in their platform.

This is the concrete offer in their own language:

Quote
From Eugene | WhiteBIT.com:

If the problem with the budget.

What are you current budgets? Maybe we can work according it right now.

And after we will be able to reach our goals we can increase your budget and marketing activities

I asked them to kindly provide us with some numbers so that we can have an idea of budget. Gathering funds for the minimum budget would be a goal. Btw, I'm still very cautious about listing Devcoin on third party exchanges, since we had way too much bad experiences in the past.

For the reasons above, I ask for your help, all information about WhiteBIT that you can contribute here will be greatly appreciated.

Go go Devcoin!

- develCuy

I'll do some reading into this exchange. I've never heard of them before now but with so many exchanges popping up, that doesn't really mean much. I'm looking forward to seeing how much they want in terms of budget, as I think that will help make a more informed decision (a lot of their coins are very low volume right now).

We have got an specific proposal from WhiteBIT, for a budget of 2 BTC:

Quote
From Eugene | WhiteBIT.com:

TRADING PAIRS & LIQUIDITY:
⁃ 3 trading pairs of choice
   Crypto: BTC, ETH
   Stable: USDT, TUSD, USDC, PAX
   Fiat: USD, EUR, RUB, UAH
⁃ Zero-fee accounts for 3-months

MARKETING & PR
- Announcements on our social media;
- Targeted email campaign (for the entire duration of the marketing activities);
- Banner on the main page (14 days);
- Remarketing for 1,5 million unique users;
Upon Request:
- Digital Marketing in Cointelegraph, Forbes, Bloomberg, CoinDesk, Hackernoon, Investing.com, etc;
- Separate full articles and brand mentions in Media (bitcoin.news, themerkle.com, etc);

ACTIVITIES:
-Lower fee trading for the community (for 2 weeks after the listing);
- SMART Staking plan (https://whitebit.com/smart-staking);
- AMA-session in WhiteBIT’s telegram community;
- Trading competition on whitebit.com;

SUPPORT & CONSULTANCY:
- Personal account manager for you;
- 24/7 Support for your community;
- Listing on Tier 1 and Tier 2 exchanges.

The listing fee for all the above-mentioned services is 2 BTC.

Go go Devcoin!

- develCuy

A couple things off the top of my head:

1) What are these "zero-fee" accounts? Are they saying new accounts will pay no fees for 3 months or that there are no trading fees with DVC for 3 months?

2) Marketing for "1.5 million unique users": I just don't see their volume showing they have nearly this many users.

3) Their "smart staking" plan makes me worry about their viability. They're "guaranteeing" things like 18% interest on USDT for locking it for 180 days... with a max of 100k per account.

Does this mean DVC now has a cap of 100m and existing coins should be burned, or how does it work in terms of getting our existing tokens on to the Stellar network?
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: June 12, 2020, 04:39:04 AM
I just paid hosting for 2 months on https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dvc/

That's awesome! One thing to look into though:

It shows 2020-06-12 00:45   Paymium 25da19   + 62.0 (Days)
But then it shows expiration as 2020-07-06 (in 23.7 days)

This doesn't make sense... clearly shows you added 62 days so I don't understand why it's claiming it expires in 1/3 of that time.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: June 02, 2020, 08:32:51 PM
You can already right now start helping build the XLM buy-side against DeVCoin and a bunch of our other assets on the STELLAR platform, see http://makemoney.knotwork.com/stellar/

I think that we can do both approaches. We could support two tokens as a project: DeVCoin and DeVDollar for two different purposes:

- DeVCoin token: speculative, free & wild market!
- DeVDollar token: stable coin for paying beneficiaries

In regards to "stable coin", we could use the trusted USDT token on Stellar: https://stellar.expert/explorer/public/asset/USDT-GCQTGZQQ5G4PTM2GL7CDIFKUBIPEC52BROAQIAPW53XBRJVN6ZJVTG6V

This is what could happen on every Devcoin round:

- Buy X amount of USDT with external reserves(STEEM, HIVE, SBD, HBD, etc)
- Use half of available USDT to buy DevCoin (build up the buy side)
- Put the other half into the treasury and release an equivalent amount of DeVDollars (1:1 ratio)

Eventually, if we need to issue more DeVCoin tokens, the Devcoin Foundation should burn as much as required Devcoins (the actual coins) from its own reserve (OpenSourceFund + friends).

- develCuy

I'm all for the plan you've come up with. It may need some more fleshing out and refinement but I think that it's a solid plan and would help achieve everything we need in terms of helping DVC become more desirable, thus building up a reason for people to create new use cases (such as gaming sites, shops, etc.), creating a cyclic effect.
