Even if one had, with BTC he can just leave the country and never be seen again in case there are no securities for any of the money

Well at least SOMEONE gets it.

If you buy anything with BTC you can be screwed hard because it is not reversible.

Also, since BTC is not legally property but in the same legal region as WOW Gold, nobody can do a damn thing if 1 million of it is stolen by some Texan dood.
82  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5970 - 1 GHash/s - Bad Temps? on: July 07, 2012, 11:01:18 PM
Your VRM's will burn out.
Eventually you will see your hash rate fluctuated by 50 or so m/hashes
Once that happens your card will burn out in a couple of weeks or days.

Exactly.

But let him push his 5870 to 500 mhash and his 5970 to 1000 mhash because then lower difficulty for ME !

So this dood is getting 470 on 5870 and much more than 2*470 on a 5970 ?

I thought 5970 < 5870 * 2 ?

Whatever, it is his wallet he will burn ... we have warned him.

I suggest OP try for 1100 MHz clocks and 1100 mhash next !
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTS MSI HD Radeon 6990 for LTC on: July 07, 2012, 10:56:28 PM
I think he's already pretty damn legendary by simply being named Litecoin and whipping out a strong initial 25k bid. Well at the very least you have my respect.. Cheesy

I concur sir. But he can be even more legendary if he honors his bid too  Grin

The price is gonna hit 0.004 very soon. That's means my 25000LTC it going to be worth 660USD.
May as well buy the 7970X2 LOL. Cheesy

Make that 0.006 soonish ...

We are going to BTC parity so I suggest holding onto your coins mate !
84  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL ASIC Preorder Survey! on: July 07, 2012, 10:55:08 PM
Sorry it took so long!  I basically just copy/pasta into excel from the backend reporting.

http://www.filefactory.com/file/52q0t33n3yb7/n/Bitcoin_survey_xlsx

Some results seem to be significant outliers... such as the guy who "ordered" 1000 jalapenos and 15 minirigs.  Anyway, if someone wants to compile some nice summaries from this data, go for it!

Isn't that gigavps ?

Seems damn plausible to me IMHO ...
85  Other / Meta / Re: [Feature added] Color besides usernames for Ignored by % of established members. on: July 07, 2012, 10:45:44 PM
Personally I love the fact that 12 people have me on ignore. It proves that I'm doing something right and 12 people are jelly. If it was 1000 people then I'd start to rethink my position.

I have said it once and I will say it again :

People who use ignore are just that : ignorant ! Wink
86  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Look at a pirate, eye to eye if you dare. on: July 06, 2012, 11:08:51 PM

Roulette and blackjack FTW

Im down for that..  Cant remember last time I played roulette...

Maybe you can also pick up your friend shakaru with your bikers LOL Cheesy

Get it back on track guys.

What do you think he will do ?

How will he launder the stolen coins ?

How will he dump them ?

Maybe they are already dumped and laundered due to GPUMAX service ?
91  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Would you pay taxes if you could live off bitcoins? on: July 06, 2012, 05:04:30 PM
Option 3 for me.

Taxes are a fraud just like government !

Not where I live.  If you happen to live in a place that can't run its public services efficiently, you have my sympathy.

May I ask where that is you live?

UK just like me. I live in London.

Potholes everywhere, MP expenses scandal, huge useless incompetent army, crappy NHS healthcare ... it sucks.

92  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Physical Litecoin Design on: July 06, 2012, 03:21:46 PM

Yep.

Buy them all so I can get rich !

94  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: July 05, 2012, 10:04:05 PM
I am supposed to only give out the status for emails. Accounts are in 3 states:

- Fake. This is a minority of accounts so far we are certain are impostors.
- Accurate. At my last count, this was around 1 in 20 (5%). Only a portion of these has been paid so far. Still working through paying these people back (I don't have access to funds personally. It works like Donald gets a portion and does them in chunks at a time with proper authorisation from Tihan and Patrick).
- Queued. Majority of claims are in the queue waiting to be examined. Around half (a guess) of claims I believed were accurate, and various fakes got pushed back into the "lets examine then later category". Most simply haven't been looked at yet.

The idea is to sort out claims with the highest certainty (this means quicker payouts), then as you work down, you reconcile them with other payments. I know people here are congratulating me, but I've actually been a hindrance for the claims process. Several times, I caused some mix-ups and confusion so Donald hands me batches/tasks to complete at a time.

Genjix, can you please clarify to me under which status does my accounts hold at the moment?

Maria. <3

You have no claim.

The online claims process is now closed to new claims.

If you wish to pursue a claim you will need to send a notarized copy of any and all information you have by mail to the registered address as listed by business.govt.nz

I do have a claim, and its a public one. Part of the funds you are holding are for a pending donation list I have including 1000 BTC for the forum. My claim now is aprox. 16500 BTC interest included.

If you have no intention of honoring my claim, please let me know. I have a PLAN B for your type of people.

Maria.

People please look at this post carefully.

These type of fraudulent claims ( and to think he has the audacity to make these scammy claims PUBLICLY ) are why your coins are not in your wallet already ...
95  Other / Off-topic / What will pirateat40 do with his booty / bounty ? on: July 05, 2012, 09:56:55 PM
I am thinking along the lines of 100 000 BTC stolen so :

-80 000 for himself because he needs that yacht, you know Tongue

-20 000 goes for the community ( people that posted in his thread for example )

This would help him in two ways :

-easier to avoid banning his coins since they will go out to everybody now
-spread the wealth around so BTC will rise in value and become less of a 1% coin

Also, don't forget to change his nick to "robinhoodat40" too !

Biggest digital Robin Hood ? You bet !

Think of the 20K as a stimulus package to get more trades and rise BTC value for all of us + him ...
96  Economy / Speculation / Re: How to recognise a ponzi scheme on: July 05, 2012, 08:57:07 PM
Biggest red flags IMHO : huge returns over 3000% anually and after a while he still needs to use investor money ( instead of using his own capital to get filthy rich ).

This is a ponzi. Clear as day ...

The NDA and "I can't show you my business" is BS because he clearly hasn't got a clue. Arbitrage ? LOL !

Maybe he has invented time travel or free source of electricity from antimatter and he is using that to fund a mining operation where aliens are paying him to siphon all the BTC to another planet !

Occam's razor FTW doods ...

98  Economy / Securities / Re: BS&T -- Are you staying or leaving? on: July 05, 2012, 08:41:35 PM
People have different styles of communication.  I've worked with and managed so many people from different cultures or with different personality quirks (asperger's, adhd, etc.) that I just make allowances.  He's trying to say something and feels invalidated that people aren't swayed by his arguments, which seem perfectly logical to him.

If you care enough to get on the same page with him, you will need to see things from his perspective and reason with him on his level.  That goes for pretty much anyone in the world, but it's more obvious on the inter-webs.  For example, threatening pirate has done jack s--- because he's making enough money that he's pretty much immune to serious fear or intimidation.  He's loving it and people are still depositing like mad despite the brouhaha.

If it bothers you, just use the ignore link on people who aren't adding value to your time.  I see a numeric range representing the people ignoring me.  If it were to become high, I would take it as feedback on my trolling/posting/language/etc.  Most people will do the same.  Plus, you don't need to see someone's posts until they post something insightful enough that someone else cares to quote and reply.  Think of it as curating their posts. Smiley

Just so everyone else can actually read it.

People who ignore others are just that - ignorant Wink
99  Other / Off-topic / Re: Diablo Mining Company will never buy Butterfly Labs hardware on: July 05, 2012, 08:25:30 PM
A lot of people are questioning Butterfly Labs' commitment to the Bitcoin community, and a lot of people are even coming right out and calling it a scam or a long con or the end of Bitcoin.

I cannot help but agree with these people.

Without a second vendor producing hardware just as efficient and cheap as Butterfly Labs claims their new Bitforce SC hardware is, I do not believe Butterfly Labs is being completely honest with potential customers.

Because of how Butterfly Labs has handled customer relations, Diablo Mining Company will never purchase Butterfly Labs hardware. We will pursue high-efficiency FPGA and ASIC hardware from alternate vendors only.

Diablo Mining Company will be the largest Bitcoin startup in the world, and we will do it without the help of Butterfly Labs.

No trolling here. I respect this guy for what he stands for in the first place.

Forget about BFL and their "venture capitalists" and their 0% interest free loans that are totally unsecured.

What happens if the ASIC has a problem ? All BFL sheep lose their money ( I would so LOVE to see that and all the FPGA guys get back on track ).

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Hats off to you DiabloD3 !

At least he has the integrity to stand up and not fall for this BFL greed craze / speculation and their long con ...

Too bad not a lot of people / bond sellers are that honest.

And he has not abused any mod powers because I never saw any sticky on this subforum today.

Please stop trolling ... what do you have against DiabloD3 and why do all of you seem to love the BFL god so much Huh

Seems that the money promised by BFL has corrupted most of the miners here. Will be a landfall when they fail to deliver, yet again. I will laugh my socks off !
100  Other / Meta / Re: Independent scam investigations on: July 05, 2012, 07:48:49 PM
Okay, I've thrown a very basic website together, basically just a place to explain what we do and to list known scammers, accept donations and with a contact page. Anyone other than Maged interested in participating?

Can scammers like me join too ?

You know the saying "it takes one to know one" Cheesy
Based on your personality, you might be too impulsive for scammer investigations. However, your personality is such that I believe that it may be possible for you to conduct a good investigation after some training.

There are two key components needed by scam investigators:
1) The ability to (mostly) disregard emotions and prejudice. Usually this means clear logical thinking, but that's not completely necessary.
2) You must be a trusted member of the community.

bulanula, you might make a good investigator. All you would have to do is get rid of the scammer tag and I believe that at least point 2 would apply. Only you would know about point 1, but I think you can do it.

Don't worry, the meds can always take care of number 1 Cheesy

Overdose and the problem is gone Wink

Joking aside, I am not on any meds Smiley I might need to work on my character though ...
