didnt you guys find out where some of the other scammers live ?
just curious what has ever been done to them... besides bad mouth them on the forums ?

shameless plug..  I will buy bad debts / assist in collecting from scammers in Australia =)

So sylkyx = HonorMe = InterCoin?
Yes.

Unfortunately for him, we know where he lives, his
phone number and where he goes to school ... he's
likely going to have an interesting time in the coming
weeks.

A big fat NOTHING because you cannot do crap about stolen BTC.

BTC is the best tool for Nigerian scammers like me.

Too bad nobody in the community gets to practise the jailhouse mining techniques when they drop the soap Cheesy !

I am waiting for government enforced cryptocurrency, if that will ever exist Grin
202  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: June 30, 2012, 09:38:29 AM
Let's have a look at this in the content.
the post immediately above my post:
OK - so........... I got a mail that my account is verified as accurate - but nothing but crickets after.

I was apparently under the mistaken impression that meant I was to see some kind of funds returned?

Again - wtf? Kinda irritating because now I'm checking the damn inbox again, and I really don't want to check if the check isn't coming in the mail. Tongue

Or, are we doing the - communicate one line of email and then nothing for yet another month. This game is getting tiring Sad

same for me, checking emails several times per day, without any news any more.. very disappointing

Bitcoinica LP crew is definitely not businessmen at heart. Should have set up a blog, with daily updates, put adsense ad on it. They would by now make more money out that blog that it was stolen. LOL

This has got to be the stupidest post I've read. Why would be blogging instead of processing payouts? And putting ads on there? I'd rather not be a businessman then. Thanks for the bad advice.
...
stupid is:
- to have no security concept at all
- stupid ist to get no backups at all
...

Thank you, bremer-btc-user.

@genjix:
This is very rich for YOU and rest of your gang to call ANYONE here stupid. Real pro!. And no, it was not an advise, it was a joke. You are too smart apparently to get it.

I quit advising Bitcoinica the moment my advise to use colocation instead of linode back in September 2011 was
ignored. I have not been advising anyone in Bitcoinica since then. So please do not even for a second imagine that I am advising you here.

Funnily enough, after you guys got owned by linode, you (Bitcoinica) have "fixed" it by moving to rackspace VPS's, GENIUS! (yea for real smart ones clarification: this means IDIOTS!). Do not you see now all the hilarity of this?

P.S. Ohh and by the way "LOL" means "laughing out loud", often used on interwebs as substitute for smiles and it is usually indication that there is a joke somewhere close by.

Incompetence is a disease.

Bitcoinica and Intersango is the carrier.

EPIC response Vladimir. Wink

It's funny because it's TRUE ! Cheesy
203  Other / Meta / Re: Unjust scammer tag on: June 30, 2012, 09:17:56 AM
So let me get this straight, the scammer tag is now defunct and I am the last bastard to get it ? Cheesy

Andre, WiseOldOwl, David_Benz among many other blatant scammers here and no tag either.

204  Economy / Marketplace / Re: BitFlowSystems IPO on: June 30, 2012, 09:13:55 AM
Wondering if he will pay back or just do nothing and if he will get the tag.

Seems that the scammer tag is defunct now.

Andre from WBX got away without one ...

Must be some kind of joke ... no ?

BFL do you have an answer for this Huh
206  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Idea] P2P Chess Solving + Mining Pool on: June 29, 2012, 01:33:02 PM
I don't think GPUs are good for chess, but I could be wrong.

A chess pool would need a completely different structure than a mining pool, I don't think much can be reused from the existing code and infrastructure of mining pools.

I support the idea of (and had for a while an interest in) a distributed chess playing agent, if such a thing doesn't exist yet.

There are some chess-related grid computing projects, such as chess960@home.

You are 100% right. CPU is good for chess not GPU but OP is clueless.

They use Ivy Bridge CPUs not dedicated hardware or GPUs anymore.
207  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ Bonus PPS Pool - 110% ] - Public Beta - REGISTRATION OPEN on: June 29, 2012, 01:31:35 PM
TBH the underground cable story is BS since there is no news report and that is a given if something actually happens.

They are clearly having network issues and blaming it on DDOS, broken cables, stolen cables due to copper thieves, EMP due to Nibiru Planet X and aliens spaceship approaching ...

When I was in your pool I had severe network issues + high latency and I was located in London UK so should have been excellent connectivity.

Time to switch datacentre maybe ?
208  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ Bonus PPS Pool - 110% ] - Public Beta - REGISTRATION OPEN on: June 29, 2012, 01:09:49 PM
Pool is down ?

Let me rephrase that: Pool IS DOWN  Grin

SUPRISED ??

It wasnt down, and please fuckoff from this thread and stop sending me your silly tragic please-feel-sorry-for-me PM's, I dont have time to waste on people with your shitty attitude anymore. You are not a user of this pool, and you will never be one again.

Be gone peasant.

LOL. Nice to see somebody else also got kicked out of here just like me.

What did he do to get kicked out like that ? I am dead curious ...

Pool is down ?

Let me rephrase that: Pool IS DOWN  Grin

International underwater fibre between UK and rest of world broke so Im trying to figure out how that affected the datacenter because it shouldnt and I can see everyone is on so what gives?

Please post news story ... I am affected too it seems !

209  Other / Meta / Re: Lock old user accounts on: June 29, 2012, 12:55:23 PM
Does not mean that you should lock the account mate.

That is not nice for people that don't even have any idea why the account is locked nor can find out why.

-1 for this policy.
Well, with that tag below your username, I'm not really surprised that you don't like my suggestion.

Of course you can let people know why the account is locked. Just redirect them to a page explaining why and what to do about it when they try to log in.
An email verification or a signed message isn't really that much work if you can't be bothered to log in at least once every month or two.
With such a policy, threads like this one would not exist: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=86248.msg982776#msg982776
The lender would still have his 55btc.

Very funny personal attack. Locking accounts at random because they did not have time to log in = genius policy.

How about being SMART and not getting scammed like a sheep for a start ?

Anybody not doing due diligence and handing over $$$ to strangers on the Net deserve to be scammed by me.

Use escrow and you are safe ... but some just want / beg to get scammed !
210  Other / Meta / Re: Unjust scammer tag on: June 29, 2012, 12:52:59 PM
He made mistake, I offered service but no refund.
Anyone that does not offer refunds is scamming Huh

Bravo !

Just because the BitcoinAdvertiser guy has a fancy TOS to hide with he can scam multiple people off and not get any tag while I get the tag "just to warn others in the future" Huh

Strange how justice works in the BTC forums ...

IMHO the only thing about me others should be warned is that if you send extra coins "by mistake" and attack me you will get no refund but still the service will be offered since I don't scam for petty sums like that.

I was pretty happy to have the ad in my signature 1 year till 8 April 2013 but because he is VIP he can chose to refuse refund and have me scammer tagged.

I am willing to bet this guy is 100% an alias of DoubleIcaras guy that scammed 200 BTC off the fools here ...

Not happy ... soon BTC will be used by Nigerians for 419 frauds too Angry
212  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Motherboards: What Works w/Four or More GPUs? List Them on: June 29, 2012, 12:31:48 PM
Asus f1a75-m le works with four (going to try a fifth in a few weeks when I get my pci-to-pcie adapter for my puny 5570). The four includes the APU. Only had luck with these in Linux, in Windows I only get two adapters. Running BAMT. Force onboard video. Running dual power supplies. Running w/out molex extenders, and did not need shorting for the 1x pcie adapter cable.

A6-3500 + 5850 + 5850 + 7990 for 1100 MH/s. (Bad performance due to driver/SDK because of the 7990).

AFAIK that has not been released yet.

How on earth do you have one ?

Please share a picture because I am dying to see my next mining cards !
213  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ayatollah Khomieni had Sex with Children and Animals on: June 29, 2012, 12:28:16 PM
Religion is for fools that believe in the tooth fairy.

Dumb fucks ... fucking animals and underage children ?

What can you expect anyways ...
214  Other / Meta / Re: Lock old user accounts on: June 29, 2012, 12:25:22 PM
It looks like quite a few members here got scammed by people who managed to get access to abandoned accounts, most likely because they used the same password on multiple sites.
Especially if the accounts belong to users with more than 100-200 postings, others trust them more than newbie accounts, what makes the scam easier to pull off.

There should be a "max days between logins" limit, after which an account gets locked and need to be manually enabled again by a mod. Either by sending a new password to the registration mail (which could be hacked too however), or by having the member sign a message with the btc address in the sig (if available; perhaps make providing a btc address mandatory), or by giving hints about who they sent PM's to.

If someone doesn't log in at least once every 30-60 days, he hasn't much interest in Bitcoin at all.

Does not mean that you should lock the account mate.

That is not nice for people that don't even have any idea why the account is locked nor can find out why.

-1 for this policy.
215  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Idea] P2P Chess Solving + Mining Pool on: June 29, 2012, 12:22:53 PM
Just throwing the idea out there.

Assuming ASICs take more work away from GPUs, would it be possible to repurpose the GPUs to solve chess?

The pool(s) could make their money from Computer Chess Tournaments and distribute shares to miners for crunching the data. Of course, current pool and mining software would have to be modified but could this be doable?

Edit: The top-10 pools already have most of the resources in place, so I'm not proposing a new pool solely for this purpose. Besides, DeepBit already has a cool name which sounds like an old Chess Computer.

You mean IBM's Deep Blue ?  Wink
216  Other / Meta / Re: Separate messages ASIC and FPGA already! on: June 29, 2012, 11:38:36 AM
Why not do the following :

General threads like mining market balance thing
CPU
GPU
FPGA
ASIC

Huh

Very logical and simple !
217  Other / Meta / Re: Unjust scammer tag on: June 29, 2012, 11:18:57 AM
I still fail to see why BitcoinAdvertisers has no tag and I have a tag.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=83328.msg996241;topicseen#new

Multiple complaints, no action.

I got tag like 1 day after guy complained ... because he is VIP.

Also I don't understand how it is a scam. He made mistake, I offered service but no refund.

Anyone that does not offer refunds is scamming Huh
218  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Miner earnings insurance for other pools - requests? on: June 28, 2012, 06:11:49 PM
What about GPUMAX insurance ? Cheesy

In any case, you should clarify if this is for PPS pools or non-PPS pools Wink

tl;dr: Low fee PPS for proportional DeepBit miners

Benefits
This service provides earnings insurance for Bitcoin miners who want some of the benefits of Pay-Per-Share without changing pools or paying a large Pay-Per-Share fee.

Bitcoin miners on DeepBit who prefer a non Pay-Per-Share payment method often post on the forum with concerns about variance affecting their earnings - especially if they are new miners, mine with a low hashrate, or are dependant on their short term mining earnings in some way.

it is pretty well covered in the link provided in OP Smiley

It is but he should say this is not for PPS pools since there is no variance with that method Wink

Just an observation. No point doing this insurance thing for PPS like BTC guild IMHO ... only risk is eleuthria runs with coins which is unlikely.
219  Other / Off-topic / Re: Wondering where your BFL Singles are? on: June 28, 2012, 05:58:31 PM
FYI - this is a non debate.  Ours is an ESD protected environment.  I would agree with Inaba in terms of scale of concern, but it's not an issue either way.  Open board work is done with ESD Matts & pretty blue wrist straps.   (I feel icky for having stepped in to answer this at all)

Step 2 - forbid any photography by visitors because it might result in bad publicity.

Yes, because the last thing from this company is LESS transparency Roll Eyes. Right ...

You are a genius ! Kiss
