The H+ community discusses all types of organic and inorganic human advancement/self-improvement: something as small as practicing caloric restriction to increase lifespan, or consuming lots of supplements to prevent aging
I suspect all of us in this thread are members of the H+ community, thus the title.

It is amazing that he will actually get the precious metals back as well. The judge in this case would be an asset in a higher court. The original conviction was an absolute travesty though.

There are hundreds, thousands of people that have suffered from the civil forfeiture in this case that may also get theirs back, BUT... The procedure is arduous.
I've contemplated buying as many of the Warehouse Receipts as I could find to save folks from having to undergo the crazy hoops that you have to jump through.  Time is running out though.  The government has some sticky fingers.

Not much chance of that.
He was a Reagan appointee, and is too close to retirement to be considered in a Democratic administration.

What is amazing is the civil forfeiture laws in the US.  The government can take anything away.

In fact, just a few days ago Obama issued an executive order that could be used for taking things like forums such as this and all its assets if they suspect there may be someone doing anything malicious, because national security.

It empowers the Secretary of the Treasury for example, some very broad powers,
Quote from: Obama link=https://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.documentcloud.org/documents/1699240/executive-order-obama-establishes-sanctions.pdf
“in consultation with” the Attorney General and Secretary of State, to make a determination that an person or entity has “materially … provided … technological support for, or goods or services in support of any” of these malicious attacks.

Civil forfeiture lets the particular government offices to take most anything, and use it as however they like, even without any actual crime being committed or even alleged.  They can break in, take what you have, and spend it how they like, and it is legal for them to do that.

So when someone like Judge Voorhees provided some measure of ethics to this ruling, it doesn't win him a so many friends in the administration.  He really split the baby on this.

Rule of law is great, only in so far as the laws are great.

Emerging from the rubble of the Noble Palace somehow door arches stand where high arches did not, Duke Joseph of New Liberty ponders the great many things that have transpired within these halls.  The weddings, the business foundations, the expositions of the Circle and its scientific revelations, the christenings in the chapel, the incredible grand food and drink as well as the great many heroes that have jousted in the fields under its view.

Each of these would supply enough stories to fill many volumes, and there will be time for those in the days and years to come.

Now is the time to look about us and seize the moment that we have been given, to bring order from the chaos by the designs of our hopes and minds, and the labors of many hands.  To set stones up again upon each other and raise these shelters once again, but also to take the opportunities we are granted by this calamity to improve what may be made better.  We can create better than what we did from all that we have learned in the ages since.

One simple improvement would be to widen some of the grand boulevards.  To this end, Asenath has been tasked to make plans for expanding NEw Liberty Street and she has also proposed to make gutters for the channeling of the muds of the increasing carriages and horses on our streets.  In the New Liberty Haw we will make use of the rubble from some of the collapses to raise the central gardens on 1m platform under which the sewage will be employed in a leach field through a lattice network of clay pipes under the soils.

Also larger such piping will be deployed along the major road to the south for the fertility of the fields and the floral beautification and views on the roadway to the South toward Burough 5 and all its wonders.

We encourage all of you also to look on the recent calamities in a new light, and be emboldened by the possibilities it has created.  Our best days are yet ahead of us.

It is with some delight that Duke Joseph of New Liberty notices all the new attendees at the morning Matins in the Cathedral.  Many have given donations in lieu of attendance also, but the Duke takes a daily (and oft many times a day) drink from the cup of forgiveness.  The spiritual life and the physical life being unified and the Duke's visits so frequent that gossipers have speculated that it is more the wine than the forgiveness that was sought.

However a long life full of adventure and experiences may bring some measure of wisdom, it is the remembrance of humility and gratitude that are most important in these acts.  Contrition and supplication precede forgiveness, and these are most easily done from a state of humility and gratitude.  The grandiosity of the Old Town Cathedral with its great and ancient form are designed to evoke this humility and truly for anyone who could be impressed by an edifice, this does the job.  There may be larger or more expensive, but the humbling age and beauty of the Esteemed Cathedral can never be doubted.

And so the daily visits and communion wine drinking have kept The Most High within the mind and heart of all endeavors.  Humility is important and increasingly difficult as one's stature increases.  It would be easy to fall into the sin of pride for bringing the church to its first foothold in the New City Borough with services in the NLQI, or the early and frequent advocacy for the esteem of the Cathedral or the daily attendance at services.

And so while most recently the crowding of the church has shifted the consumption of communion wine to the chapel in the Noble Palace with its view of the obelisk out the mysteriously intact windows, being present at the Cathedral, and being seen doing so, may encourage others by example.

Or is bitcoin simply bringing to light corruption that is already there. I believe it is the later.

yes, it has to be.

when one reads the documents carefully, it's clear that the brazenness with which these guys operated implied a certain level of comfort, familiarity, and hubris with the process that repeated itself numerous times during those months.

This.

If bitcoin were ever used transactionally by governments, it could become the single biggest anti-corruption breakthrough in the history of government.

The IMF cites corruption as one of the biggest drags on global economy, and most specifically harmful to investment in education.

The list of the Buildings in the Order of Precedence for RWWC windows production from 1601.1.1
(Cultured/Important Buildings category; normal price, 50% of the production is allocated to them)

The Royal Palace
The Town Hall Annex
The Hall of Justice bldg
RWWC HQ & Research
The Grand Hotel
The Town Hall
The Noble Palace
RWWC Windows Factory
Church Offices Building
The Monero House

The Marquess of Arda School for Nobles
The CryptoMuseum-The Hypothecary Bank-Foreign Ministry Bldg
Violin Museum and Violin Making School
Villa Rotonda School of Economics
The Military Sciences Department
The Palace of Culture and Science
The University Main Building

The Town Palace of the Duke of New Liberty
The Episcopal Palace
The Town Palace of the Prince of North Face
The Prince of OZ Town Palace
The Marquess of Arda Town Palace
The Marquess of Tavastia Town Palace
The Prince of Forte Spagnolo Palace main building

The list is divided to 3, but the buildings are in a strict order. Although the non-essential buildings (such as the Cultured Theatre and HofM) have been left out, and windowcounts are not yet known, it seems unlikely that all these buildings could be supplied from the quota, and that especially those in the end of the list are instructed to procure their windows by any means available.

In order to facilitate the process and uphold the fiduciary duty to the shareholders/members of the Noble Palace club, there are 206 windows total in the building, 4 of which serving the Noble Palace Chapel were preserved.

So on behalf of the Noble Palace an order of 202 windows in placed and even a partial order will be accepted in order to restore some utility and comfort to the guests and patrons.

In the interim the kitchens are running 24x7 to serve those taking refuge from the chill and generating some heat in the process.

NewLiberty once said he was taking his data from WHO (maybe via CDC); if I can retrieve his post I would quote here. Maybe updates have re-attribuited 3 deaths to other causes also your data from WHO are 24hrs newer than his.

Yes ^^

There may be better sources, but sticking with it for consistency unless it is shown to be just wrong.
311  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: California makes Bitcoin Lawful Money on: March 31, 2015, 05:04:51 PM
The bill enables businesses to accept currencies other than US dollars as payment. This includes foreign currencies and cryptos. This is not legal tender. Legal tender means shops are legally required to accept other currencies. This is not the case.

The Bill made it "Lawful Money" not legal tender.  As you have said, the difference is vast.
California in our predilection for totalitarianism had unique legal environment in the USA that forbids all trade unless it uses lawful money.

So this legal stupidity has been repealed and replaced with slightly less stupid laws.

They just want more tax, more control and destroy bitcoin because its a direct thread to the currently going fiat ponzi schemes.

Its been said that the friend of a conqueror is merely the final victim.  The Government is the Fed's final victim in the ponzi, the government is not the final beneficiary.

Individuals within the governments will oppose it for government use, because it makes corruption so much more difficult with all transactions in the clear.  When we find government officials approving bitcoin for government use (as some have for traffic tickets) we may find the few anti-corruption government officials and seek ways to promote their advancement.

The good and righteous Marquess of Arda was a fine figure of a man, both kind of spirit and forthright in his contribution to the success and well being of those less fortunate, or new to matters of and conduct of nobility.  His institution for the education of these will stand for all time as a testiment to this fact.  He served as the epitome of noble values of generosity and held no vainglory within his body or spirit.
His memory will always be with us at the least and his life sized image is carved in ancient stone and memorialized in the Stoneton Sculpture garden, that all who view it be reminded of the heroism of one of our great and early founders.

To this end and for the preservation of his memory, and for the furtherance of his aims in life as elucidated by HM in his management of the estate, the Duke bids 5 million for the Ancient silver and 7 million for the ancient and elaborately carved dining furniture.

Item 2:

The Town has awarded Medals of the Game:

4th class to:
Lord Callixtus
Lord noms
Mooo

5th class to:
HE North Face
HE The Chancellor
Dame Asenath

The award happened in 1599, so the Medals are Ancient. In total, there are 15 Medals of the Game awarded "for valuable contributions to game design and development". The highest class awarded so far is 2nd class, and that has been awarded to HM The King, twice. 3rd class is awarded to HH The CEO, HG The Bishop and Lord sXpher, once each.

Your Majesty, I am honored and grateful to have been recognized for such a coveted award. Long live Crypto Kingdom!

Medals of the Game 4th class is quite a high honor and only a small group have earned it in all this time.
The Countess Roopatra, His Excellence Prince Karl, and my own self.
It is with honor and dignity that you are welcomed to this mark of achievement.
It is one that is only earned through extraordinary effort.

The higher MoG awards are far more rare, and we look forward to the progress and advancements of the Crypto Kingdom that is required to achieve them by any with the capability to do so.

When any of these MoG awards are granted, it is a mark that we all have won something from the further development of this endeavor, and thereby have good cause to celebrate.

A chalice is raised to all of thee.  Good form, and well done.

I can understand Anonymous chose to fight ISIS in their own way. The world should oppose these murderers, but a cooperation between them and the government? Not gonna happen.

It doesn't even need to be cooperative.  USG could changetip from it's CIA twitter account for the lulz, though possibly it would never be withdrawn.  Its unlikely that they understand the full nature of Anonymous, but the idea is interesting and weird.
Anonymous can't be bought, but maybe there is a way the USG can pay without subverting or creating the appearance of subverting?

ForeignPolicy.com is the Council on Foreign Relations' publication.  CFR

Gavin got a lot of flak for visiting with them because of the /r/conspiracy wonks (and that most of the US government comes from their ranks).
This might be the first interesting idea to come out of that.

5g internet will be rolling out in the next 2 years in the UK and Europe, speeds of 1GB+ per second have been achieved by Samsung  in south korea already..

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/shortcuts/2014/mar/10/david-cameron-wants-superfast-5g-internet-connection

4k.ultra hd streaming is already available....
Any problems larger blocks cause will be dealt with easily when the time is right

Sure, in a few high income neighborhoods in the first world, and in telco labs.  This was never at issue.  There have been faster speeds than this.

Ok, I understand.  You are GOD.  We are all fools.  You have convinced me.  Best of luck in life.

The difference between opt-in, and opt-out presumptions in bitcoinlandia notwithstanding, to me the most important issue remains "that to which we are being asked to opt, being insufficiently supported".

We have no roadmap to fixing the underlying issue, the arbitrary "patch" introduces new risks, and it is quantitatively unjustified.
