361  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for February on: February 04, 2023, 03:14:50 PM
I voted no. Not because I’m not currently bullish, but because we moved up a lot very quickly and I think we need time to correct or accumulate before another move up. I’ve been surprised by the market strength during this rally so a sustained move up wouldn’t shock me, but if I were a gambling man I’d be looking for a month of sideways action or maybe even a retest of $20K before we head up to the next stop at $30K.

I again think bitcoin will break through $25k and possibly hit $30k before a sharp correction after that. Even though bitcoin has rallied to $23k, the market still shows very weak buying power, people are still very wary of what's going on. So bitcoin needs to go up to $30k to attract people who are afraid of missing out and will rush to buy bitcoin, and then it will start to correct again, causing everyone to continue panicking.

To cut long story short letter That's day I paid 0.046591 BTC.

You could have easily used your debit card to pay the bills. You actually paid more(0.046591 = $1094.98 at today’s price), the exchange rate in Nigeria is 750/$ meaning you paid N821,235 instead of N500,000. It’s a bad transaction in my opinion, you lost over 200k in this single transaction. I doubt the legitimacy of this story because either parties should have been aware of this error when calculating the amount. OP is known for his tall tales and evading ban.
500,000 is for hospital bill and the rest for for some other stuffs like drugs and foods.
If you ready carefully you will see bills and not bill.
Thank you

If you can attach the receipt as proof, that is even better because I don't believe your story either, stories like this are for the purpose of seeking merit, not for sharing about experiences with bitcoin. I also agree with SatoPrincess, you can use debit card or other payment methods without the help of bitcoins.
I don’t want anyone doxxing themselves on the internet over a petty argument. Whatever his intentions were, it doesn’t matter. OP is a ban evader and would soon be banned anyways. In my experience as a business accepting bitcoin payment in Nigeria is that people don’t want to spend their bitcoins on commodities or services, they prefer to hodl it as an investment or store value against the naira inflation.

Apart from fighting inflation, people won't be willing to spend their bitcoin because they know its returns will be huge in the future. That's why I believe bitcoin is hard to become a payment method even if it is widely accepted. While bitcoin's original goal was created as a peer-to-peer payment method, but today because of its value, people just want to see it as an investment.
363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will not become the world currency. on: February 03, 2023, 03:13:04 PM
it is unlikely that Bitcoin will become the world currency. While Bitcoin has been successful as a decentralized digital asset and store of value, it has several challenges that would need to be overcome in order for it to become a widely adopted currency.

For example, Bitcoin transaction processing times are slower and more expensive than those of traditional payment methods, and its price can be highly volatile, making it a less practical option for everyday transactions. Additionally, many countries have not yet established clear regulations around the use of cryptocurrencies, which could limit their widespread adoption as a currency.
...

Do you suppose that it will last until heat death of the universe? If we talk about that bitcoin will become a global currency we mean it become so someday, not this month. So right, there are some known problems which prevent from using bitcoin as a world currency right now, but all these problems can be solved in a near future. Technology is evolving faster than most of us can imagine.

But what about the reason bitcoin is decentralized? Governments will be willing to give up their interests to accept bitcoin as the world currency because when they accept, it means they will lose all power and collapse. Other reasons will probably be overcome as technology evolves, but bitcoin's decentralization will never go away, and that's what governments hate the most.
364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which countries do you think this year will adopt Bitcoin as a Legal tender? on: February 03, 2023, 03:04:48 PM
I don't have any information on which countries are getting friendly and considering accepting bitcoin as a legal tender in the near future. But if any country continues to accept bitcoin as legal tender, I think it will be the 3rd country with a difficult economy. The first two countries to accept bitcoin are in a similar situation. Don't expect that some developed countries will do this.

366  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC rise described as false bull on: January 30, 2023, 10:34:34 AM
It's not a false bull or bull trap, as the tendency is already lasting for a whole month, and probably it will. I believe if it were a trap it wouldn't have lasted for longer than one week. Bitcoin is retaking its previous position from last year, before the time seasonal holidays started, that is usually when people cashout their funds to travel and buy gifts, consequently crashing BTC. However, there can be bull traps soon on Bitcoin's way towards superior price ranges, such as 40,000$ and 50,000$.
still early to say either this is Bull run or Bull trap mate because we have seen  something like this before but after a strong growth ? yet it dumped and there are many who had been trapped inside .
but of course with this shows of force from Bitcoin supporters now, we can still have big faith that this is a legit bull run.
and also calling this as false bull is an overstatement , because there is no concrete proof that had been showing this claim.

The actual bull run hasn't happened yet, but I also agree that this is not a trap, it's a normal market movement. Bitcoin can neither fall forever nor rise forever, it is always in motion, and that is what is happening. Regardless if it's a trap or not, but with the price increase, congratulations to those who believed and bought bitcoin for $16k.
367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Get Bitcoin Holdings for your child from infant. on: January 30, 2023, 10:28:49 AM

When this child becomes a teen in high school this money must have accumulated to a reasonable amount which is used to support the child to either further his education, start up a trade or learn a skill. Fiat currency is fast depreciating because of inflation, why don't you buy Bitcoin Holdings for your child from infant and do all his savings in Bitcoin so that by the time the child becomes a teenager,  Bitcoin price might have hit $500k and above. This way you can have a long term holdings in Bitcoin.
What is your opinion on my suggestion, is it a guarantee for the child's future and will  enable you to benefit from Bitcoin ?
  Grin

This is a very good idea, instead of us saving with a bank account with a low interest rate, save with bitcoin. We will have a better chance to earn bigger profits when our children grow up, we will be able to give them more wealth if we save in bitcoin. But bitcoin is still a pretty risky asset so it still needs to be carefully calculated in case bitcoin disappears in the future.
So I was in the bank the other day and enquiring how I can open a saving account for my👶 infant child  🧒 and the bank official gave me some conditions that I was not ok with and they based the condition on the fact that my child does not have a national id since she is under age putting a long period of only deposits no withdrawal and a low-interest rate.
This got me discouraged and I just bought Bitcoin with the money and held it for her till she is mature enough to control her wallet and securities.
Bitcoin is the best store of value for the future and our kids need to have savings in that future.

But like I said, bitcoin is still risky, and the possibility of bitcoin disappearing in the future is there, although the probability is low. I think you can both save bitcoin and save with other assets like gold, silver... all of which will be more valuable in the future than fiat money. I will also plan to do it for my children when I can.
368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 30, 2023, 06:53:51 AM
Dortmund was able to win an away game with 2-0 vs Leverkusen and Schalke got 1 point from Koln in the last games of the 18th round.
With the 6 points that Bayern wasted, Union, Leipzig, Dortmund and Freiburg are all 3 points or less than them.
Bayern will play vs Wolfsburg next and Dortmund will face Freiburg. Union - Mainz and Koln - Leipzig, not easy games and Bayern have the occasion to increase the gap in my opinion.
The success of Borussia Dortmund in recording three consecutive wins in 2023 after defeating host Bayer Leverkusen in Week 18 of the German Bundesliga match, at BayArena, Leverusen, early Monday morning. This victory brought Dortmund to fourth place in the standings, with a collection of 34 points. They are only three points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich, while Leverkusen drop to ninth with 24 points.

Dortmund's win against Leverkusen was not easy at all. Leverkusen were in good form. And so Dortmund were very strategic in this match. Their main goal in this match was to keep the defense tight and counter-attack by countering Leverkusen's attacks. In this match, Dortmund's players had very few attacks compared to Leverkusen's. Dortmund still managed to win 2-0.
369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 30, 2023, 06:50:02 AM
After successfully wining the T20WC it seems the English side doesn't want to do the same for ODIWC. This teams performance in ODI has been going from bad to worst. I understand that South Africa has the home advantage but after scoring 342 runs if the English bowlers are not able to defend this total then their is a big problem that needs to be looked into.

It was unbelievable to me that England would lose this match after setting a big target of 342 runs. After watching England's innings, I assumed that England will win this match. But at the end of the match I was quite surprised to see the result. Except for Olly Stone and Sam Curran, every bowler in England scored a lot of runs. We expected a better performance from an experienced team like England. Although the batsmen have performed their duties well, the bowlers need to improve their performance.
370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 30, 2023, 06:46:17 AM
In the second T20 match, New Zealand batted first and collected 99 runs, losing 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. India scored 101 runs in 19.5 overs to win. The batsmen of both the teams struggled to bat on spin-friendly wickets. Yesterday was indeed a joyous day for Indians. Because the final ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2023 is won tomorrow. On the other hand, the men won the T20 match. Yesterday was truly remarkable for the Indians.

You are right. It was a very good day for India. The Indian women's team was not the favorite to win the Anurdha 19 World Cup title. Still, the Indian girls performed brilliantly throughout the tournament. And as a result, they were able to become champions.
On the other hand, India won quite easily against New Zealand. But if New Zealand had set a target of 120 then it would have been difficult for India to win this match. The series is tied at 1-1. The final match will be very competitive.
371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have 1 bitcoin? on: January 29, 2023, 10:24:50 AM

If studied and analyzed further, selling Bitcoin at the current price is not a good decision for those of us who have other income to meet our daily needs because Bitcoin is a future investment that will be profitable.

But if you are an early bitcoin holder, you bought bitcoins for less than $100, then selling bitcoins now will be a huge success. Firstly, you made a profit, and it was a successful investment; second, if you need money urgently, there is nothing wrong with selling at the current price; and lastly, there is no guarantee bitcoin will bounce back or hit new ATH levels, the future remains a mystery.
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Main reason government won't fully accept bitcoin on: January 29, 2023, 10:19:39 AM
The kind of people we have in government are people who always want to fight for their selfish interests,  anything that will surely benefit them. If it's something good that has to with better development for humanity as far as it won't benefit them they will surely go against it.

The reason government won't accept bitcoin is not because it is a decentralized currency,  it is because they won't be able to print it like they print fiat  to steal as much as they can .

If bitcoin is something the government can manipulate to steal public fund they would accept it even before now without any delay.

You are right, but you forgot one thing the government is also human, they also have greed and put their own interests first, if they accept bitcoin, it is like shooting themselves in the foot. But it doesn't matter if the government accepts bitcoins or not; I live in a country where bitcoins are not accepted, and I still use bitcoins without any problem. There are always ways to use bitcoin even if they ban them; bitcoin is unstoppable.
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Get Bitcoin Holdings for your child from infant. on: January 29, 2023, 09:54:14 AM
I guess this is a strategy for someone who wants to invest on Bitcoin for a long term but is scared of waiting  for too long.
So many persons will want to invest on Bitcoin for a long term  but they end up find it difficult to have the patience on their investment and wants an instant shoot up of Bitcoin price,in other for them to sell and make profit, they end up been disappointed when it doesn't go as they wanted it since they don't understand the cyclic movement of Bitcoin. They end up procrastinating they will invest and some that have already invested will get fustrated when Bitcoin is in it bear market by selling their bitcoin.
My suggestion to these set of people is that we should invest on Bitcoin for our children from infantry to teenage. In my country people starts planing for the future of their children from the moment the child is put to bed. Family and well wishers gives money to the child when they come to visit the new born baby to express their happiness for what God has done. Some parents the moment they give birth to a child they open a bank account for the child so that every month from their income they put some fraction of money to the child's account. Some money been given to the child during his birthday celebrations and other ceremonies or visit they always put it into the child's account in other to secure the child's future.
374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will BTC do in event of US default on its debt? on: January 29, 2023, 09:49:03 AM
My limited knowledge leads me to believe that BTC is truly independent of the U.S. dollar, and of all the U.S. markets.  However, watching the value of BTC, and indeed pretty much all of the crypto currencies, it appears they are very strongly influenced by markets.

Indeed, I often think that cryptos should move in opposition to U.S. markets and fiat currencies.  If something makes the market weak, resulting in a drop in values, the cryptos should hold their own and even go up.  Obviously my thoughts don’t reflect the real world.

So,…, what do you think BTC, and cryptos in general, will do in the event of a U.S. government default?

If the US government defaults, it will have a huge impact on the entire market but it will not kill bitcoin, because bitcoin depends on any institution or asset. Bitcoin is completely independent of centralized things like governments or US dollars.  And more, that could be a huge opportunity for bitcoin as people will need a new asset to replace dollars, and bitcoin will also be an option.
375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CEX deserves all criticism but not the hate on: January 28, 2023, 12:20:15 AM
CEX deserves all the hates it getting now but doesn't mean it has also not been helpful to bitcoin and crypto space.
I know that most issues that affected bitcoin and crypto space as a whole was mainly from Centralise exchange in 2022 but that can't just make us stop using it  instead we should be more cautious on the centralise exchange we use and since the whole issues happened , Government are going to strengthen the regulation of centralise and there will be more transparency from the exchange to their customers, especially with regards to custody of customers assets and proof of reserves .
Apart from the from this issues CEX has really helped in increasing bitcoin and crypto investors because most investors are not scared of buying coins from them because they are too many crypto scammers online and I myself got scammed last year,After that I come to the conclusion that if not CEX am not buying any coin.
Though I buy from CEX but I am always careful on the one's I use and I also use binance p2p. Some of the trusted one's are :
Binance
Coinbase
Kucoin
Kraken
Bybit
There are definitely others and they may be better than this I listed but this are the ones I have used
After the whole issues of FTX my advice is though buying from CEX is safer but storing all your funds there should be avoided and for holders just stick with DEX.

You rest assured, those who always say give up CEX, against CEX still silently use CEX because the truth is we don't have a better choice. Those guys are just trying to present themselves as decentralization loyalists, but then they still use CEX daily. Forums are anonymous, so we shouldn't just believe what they say because we don't know what they're doing. How would they trade without CEX?
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is ok to sell your Bitcoin. on: January 28, 2023, 12:13:53 AM

~ What is your major reason for HODLing and how do your survive the bear market?

I hold long because I believe bitcoin long term will give me bigger returns. If you look at bitcoin's history from 2009 to the present, you can see bitcoin has gone from $0.01 to $23k, which shows that bitcoin's long-term returns are huge. In the short term, bitcoin can also be profitable, but bitcoin is very volatile and very easy to lead to loss if you do not have too much knowledge about the market. I think that's why people prefer the long term to the short term.
377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My step to promote bitcoin on: January 28, 2023, 12:06:10 AM
This idea is different from the ones we've seen before, and it's another way to introduce bitcoin to people around where the @OP lives.
But there is a next question for me what will @OP do after this?
What if the people who got the stickers wanted a more detailed explanation of bitcoin?
@ OP needs to think of another way so people don't think it only works for some people so they can start looking for more valid information and join using bitcoin.

Nowadays, the internet is very developed, and everyone has a smartphone. If they want to know what bitcoin is, just search them on social media. Our job is to let people know bitcoin exists, what more could you want from the OP when he doesn't need any profit from what he did? We just need to give the idea and they can grasp it or not, it's up to them, don't ask for too much.
378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin gaining this much fame despite it's restrictions? on: January 28, 2023, 12:00:58 AM
Though I'm new in the cryptocurrency space,I have been hearing so much about crypto ( Bitcoin precisely) lately even before I got registered on the forum and I had to ask this very question because in three days I've heard and seen people talk and discuss about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general and it prompted my question wanting to know why it has been talked about this much and gaining more acceptance in my local community despite it's restrictions in my country and is it also gaining this much fame in your environment?

In my area people are also getting to know bitcoin, bitcoin is famous for its volatility and profitability. Many people in my area started talking about bitcoin and I happened to ask someone who is interested in bitcoin and they said it can be very profitable if we invest in it. Which shows that bitcoin is becoming famous for its volatility and everyone has a need to get rich.
379  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: January 27, 2023, 04:14:07 PM
Rennes are quite favourite for the win here. They beat Lorient away in their last two head-to-head games by comfortable scores. But in both cases Lorient were having a really bad season in the league. Things are more different now as we see Lorient only a few points behind them. Rennes had better not underestimate their opponent. Lorient were nearly beating Monaco home this season and this could be the same for Monaco as well depending on the performances. I'll bet on both teams to score.
Rennes are indeed the favorites in this match, it seems that only referring to the history of their meetings that on average Rennes is superior. But have you seen their last meeting? Rennes lost 0 - 1 even at home. I have a bad feeling about their match, even though Rennes is the favorite, I wouldn't choose them and it looks like your choice to bet GG is a wise choice. My prediction is Lorient 2 - 2 Rennes

I don't think Rennes are favorite in this match mainly because it's at home to Lorient. And Rennes team is very weak in away matches. Perhaps Rennes managed to earn 10 points in 9 away matches. As Rennes is weak in away matches. So I don't think Rennes team is favorite against Lorient. I think the match will be a draw. My prediction for this match is a 2-2 draw.
380  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 27, 2023, 04:08:46 PM
Getting two draws in the previous match made Bayern Munich fail to widen the distance from its rival teams in the Bundesliga and that made them a little insecure this season to defend their title. But on the other hand, this makes the Bundesliga feel a bit competitive this season as several other teams have started to shift each other up the standings. I think maybe Bayern Munich will still win the Bundesliga this season even though lately they have not had the best results.
The next match for Bayern Munich is also taking place at home against Frankfurt, and this time Bayern Munich is expected to win the match even with a thin score because Bayern Munich needs full points to stay at the top of the Bundesliga standings. Because if Bayern Munich loses to Frankfurt, it will make Union Berlin equal Bayern Munich's points if Union Berlin is able to win at home to Hertha Berlin in tomorrow's match.

I can't count on Bayern Munich's performance. Bayern Munich has drawn in their last two matches. Also, I don't think Bayern Munich's performance was very good. Bayern Munich's performance has deteriorated and that is why they have failed to win. Frankfurt is a strong team. And they are in pretty good shape. And so it is very difficult for Bayern Munich to get 3 points against Frankfurt. I wouldn't be surprised if Munich loses this match.
