201  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable) on: April 04, 2024, 06:26:32 PM
If you drop 24 washers without knowing the order, your backup is worthless.
There is a risk with that (additional order numbers would probably fix this) but it's not totally worthless, there is still a chance of finding correct order when you know 24 from total of 2048 words.

I was thinking something more mechanical, where you have all 26 stamps inside the machine. Sure there's going to inevitably be some flash memory required to remember the words, but this is not supposed to be a network-connected device anyway, and I believe there are methods for securely destroying flash memory when you are done with it (although that might get expensive quickly).
I don't like this because it can create more risk in overall setup.
Stainless steel washers are cheap and great, but I am coming up with alternative option for storing seed phrase, it will be released soon.

202  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Transfer from bitcoin-qt to Trezor via Electrum on: April 04, 2024, 06:09:33 PM
Thanks, As much as i do want to use Ubuntu and i could use it, i feel very familiar with windows and its much easier and less of a learning curve just to move funds to HW wallet. allthough i still see a security risk on the offline pc if im throwing in a usb, im gonna try the photo methods for the qr codes and see how it goes once setup.
Installing ''fresh'' wind0ws usually means it's either illegal risky copy or not activated copy..
You are not going to use this computer for any science or heavy design work, so there is almost no learning curve with most Linux OS.
Something like Linux Mint is better than Ubuntu and looks similar like wind0s, and there are other distros that are even more similar.
You can also just use TailsOS that can work on USB drive, I think it is already coming with Electrum wallet installed.
203  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Securing Electrum seed phrases though Seed Extension on: April 04, 2024, 06:03:25 PM
Given these conditions, is he doing it the right and secure way?
His setup is not clod storage, and I have seen many people doing the same mistakes that are disaster waiting to happen.
Storing seed words on g00gle drive can never be consider safe, this is computer of someone else, and I am not exactly sure how and why he would use gmail at all Tongue
There are alternative ways he can use if he doesn't want to keep anything on paper (maybe encrypted Satochip Seedkeeper cards), and I would not trust human brain to remember anything long term.

204  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Options for portable homemade DIY hardware wallet (no commercial wallets)? on: April 03, 2024, 08:55:04 PM
OP I would recommend checking out Satochip cards since this cards can be found even locally with reasonably low price, they have secure element and code is open source.
Only downside is not having a screen on cheaper cards and empty cards with screen are more expensive, but Satochip have mobile app for this purpose.
I won't repeat what other people wrote above me but you can also use your old smartphone offline for this purpose.
205  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: SafePal X1 Edition USDC - Unboxing on: April 03, 2024, 08:33:28 PM
At the end of January 2023 I became aware of a campaign that SafePal was running, which offered the SafePal X1 Edition USDC hardware wallet, for just $10+shipping, and I decided to take advantage. Follow the necessary steps, and now that I have received the wallet, I now share my first impressions.
Correct me if I am wrong but I think they still have this promotion available, last time I checked there was a lot more devices available.
Device looks cheap, but biggest issue for me is that they are advertising as having open source code, but that is not really the case  Tongue
Another big deal breaker for me is not having a coin control, and no support for third party wallets.
Still it's better than most hot wallets, and it was almost free, so it's not a bad deal.

One question I have for you is about the quality of those buttons feeling, soft and not easy to type or what?
206  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] NonKyc.io - Embrace Privacy and Security in Cryptocurrency Trading on: April 03, 2024, 08:19:02 PM
CMC is asking 50.000$ for a listing since a year now....
If this is true than they are crazy for asking so much money, but CoinMarketCap is a big joke anyway, especially since they got purchased by Binance few years ago.
You can always list your exchange on CoinGecko, it's free and their service is better in my opinion.
207  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: List of VPN Service Providers - 2024 on: April 03, 2024, 08:08:30 PM
Anyone here tried and tested cryptostorm.is VPN service?
I see them popping out more recently, they have open source code, no registration, no kyc and they are accepting cryptocurrency payments.
Mullvad is probably a better service, but it's always good to have some alternative opentions available.
208  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bit.store card on: April 03, 2024, 08:01:01 PM
Regarding bit.store virtual cards, do they support 3DS? If yes, is it necessary to bind a phone number to a card, or bit.store sends 3DS codes to the registered email address?
No they don't, unless you perform full kyc verification and receive Bitstore physical card.

As far as I know only non-kyc cards that support 3DS right now can only be found on stealths.net website.
Just make sure you select VISA International Prepaid Card, because they have other cards without 3ds support.
They have account in bitcointalk forum and they are fairly active, so you can talk with them for more info:

209  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: PeachBitcoin.com | P2P Bitcoin Exchange 🍑 #kycfree on: April 03, 2024, 07:45:08 PM
The app doesn’t require you of a password to access, I don’t know what the procedures to sending out a coin is like but, I feel this should be put in place. Especially given the fact that, in the case of having your device accessed by anyone, they could proceed to your peach app and in the peach app, seed phrase and backup files could be accessed with ease and no security question is been asked.
Armed with this, wallet could be imported on another app and funds accessed.
There should be some security to the app upon access.
It would be a good idea to add password or fingerprint protection to Peach app, but this is not mean to be used as a wallet for long term storage.
You should use Peach for trading only and than move coins to hardware wallet or other type of cold storage.
There is also an option to use External Wallet when accepting offers, just set up a custom address and you are good to go:

210  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed phrase backup against natural disaster areas on: April 03, 2024, 06:59:56 PM
I don't think any criminal or someone can make a guess if your pencil has something that you hide.
Interesting idea of using a pencil, but I think he asked for natural disasters and I don't think regular pen and paper inside will survive any disaster at all:)
And instead of doing all this drilling and cutting of wooden pencils, you could just buy a stainless steel pen with ink inserts that can be replaced, and than just put paper roll inside.
This probably won't be water resistant, but it will resist fire and you can always put it in waterproof bag.
Lifetime pen backup.

211  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My plan.. UK based on: April 03, 2024, 06:48:11 PM
Which is the most cost effective and secure way to keep buying in small quantities ?
Peach Bitcoin is one of the best p2p non-kyc options for purchasing (or selling bitcoin) using cash without any kyc certification.
Bisq is better and more secure as exchange, but it's a bit more complicated to use and you can't trade unless you already have some BTC deposit there as collateral.
Moving coins to hardware wallet is good, but I would suggest other open source device instead of ledger.
212  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Setup Ledger without Ledger Live! on: April 02, 2024, 07:37:21 PM
Few days ago I found out that github developer darosior (Antoine Poinsot) released open source code for setting up Ledger hardware wallet without ever using official Ledger Live app (known for spying and spamming).

This is still early Proof of Concept, and there are plans to make updates in future, but for now it supports only Bitcoin (no altcoins) and there is no ledger recover subscription by default.
There is no GUI released yet, so everything is done by commands for now.

Github page:
https://github.com/darosior/ledger_installer

This topic will be updated with in future with more information.
If you find any additional information about this project please post them here.
213  Economy / Exchanges / Re: FixedFloat has been hacked (26M $) on: April 02, 2024, 07:18:05 PM
It seems like they were probably hacked again. Their website went offline some hours ago. Millions in ETH, stablecoins, and BNB has been transferred from their hot wallets and some of it has been swapped using eXch.
This hack is now officially confirmed on FixedFloat twitter account.
I can't believe this is actually happening in the same way like last time, and something seriously stinks here.
It sounds to me like there is some information leak from inside this exchange.

Quote
On April 1, we were again attacked by the attackers who were behind the February 16 hack. The attackers did not stop there and continued to use various methods to try to hack our service again. Thanks to the enormous work done to improve the security of our infrastructure, we were able to successfully repel their attacks and continue to work.

However, despite all our efforts, unfortunately, hackers managed to discover a vulnerability of a third party whose services we use. Although such third-party attacks are beyond our control, we take all necessary measures to strengthen the security of our service and will work to prevent similar incidents in the future.

We would like to emphasize that financial losses affected only our service; hackers stole funds to ensure the liquidity of the service, that is, the company’s funds and user funds were not affected. We also want to emphasize that FixedFloat does not perform the functions of a custodial service, that is, it does not store user funds.

We are currently in the process of an active investigation. Details of the incident cannot yet be disclosed due to the ongoing investigation.

214  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: New transaction accelerator on the market - mempool.space on: April 02, 2024, 07:05:16 PM
I made the payment to empty my wallet, this is why it is at 0 At the moment.
It was not the case before of course.
Yeah, I see you tried to do, but older format addresses you used needs higher fees.
You can wait a very long time for confirmation with minimal 1.00 sat/vB fee that you used, but you can always send more coins to your wallet and accelerate transaction if you are in a hurry.
Next time make sure to check mempool.space before making any (consolidation) transactions.
215  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [V2] Big List of Crypto Debit Cards on: April 02, 2024, 06:58:33 PM
Maybe it's that 2%, I don't know. Undecided
Difference is over 2% but they probably added other fees, so it's possible.
This is acceptable only in case if there are no additional fees with using this card, and even than I am not so sure if it's a good deal.

First time I hear about it, but it looks to be only for solana and tokens on that blockchain.
Top up fee is 5%  Tongue
216  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Seeking Card no kyc for Shopping in Russia on: April 02, 2024, 06:51:39 PM
Regarding the top-up methods, no. If the Yoomoney account is anonymous, you may not top-up from outside the account.
I know there are no official methods to top up balance with cryptocurrency, but I was thinking of some services that offer indirect methods using third parties.
Last time I checked Bestchange was offering payments with yoomoney cards, not sure if this is working at all and without any verification.
Not that I trust Bestchange very much, but I didn't see any alternative with this service.

Thus, the owner of an anonymous Yoomoney account is the only person who can send money to this account.
Someone else with yoomoney account can't send money to other yoomoney account?
217  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Backlinks anyone? on: April 02, 2024, 06:45:19 PM
I'm not running into any trouble listing those "unwanted" services that keeps your website being attacked?
This is not my website, and it is wanted by people, but you can decide to add whatever you want Wink
There are other non-kyc exchanges and services out there like Bisq (decentralized). Robosats, Agoradesk, PeachBitcoin, Tradeogre, etc.
218  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitMixList.org - Bitcoin Mixer List on: April 02, 2024, 06:34:39 PM
In addition, delving into this case, I was able to talk to some people whose level of knowledge is colossal. And they shared information that sinbad was not confiscated by the authorities, saying that this was just a very well-developed trick to relieve tension. Which is quite logical... considering that chainalysis reported that after the closure of sinbad that YoMix's turnover increased 5 times. Secondly, this was the first time that a stub was placed in the site’s corporate style (some people appreciated LZ’s humor).
Thanks for posting screenshots with more information, but I don't understand this last part.
I can't be certain what exactly happened and if something was staged and fake, but I looked for government sources in the time that incident happened.
There was official statement from US state department claiming they sanctioned and seized sinbad, and U think there was even a seizure number posted somewhere:
Quote
"The Federal Bureau of Investigation has seized the service in accordance with a seizure warrant pursuant to 18 U.S.C. 981 and 982 as part of a coordinated international law-enforcement operation."
https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/jy1933
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/us-seizes-sinbad-crypto-mixer-used-by-north-korean-lazarus-hackers/

But looking at this again now, and maybe it was just sanctioned, not actually seized.
219  Economy / Reputation / Re: OgNasty, of course, saying bullshit. on: April 02, 2024, 06:19:48 PM
Come on, go! This is the right place for you to demonstrate my alleged alts, the alleged shitposting with those alts and the alleged need I have to launder earnings.
I am sure he is to dumb to do that, it's just empty words coming from big filthy mouth.
He claimed several times that icopress is my altaccount, and someone really has to be mega-dumb to claim something like that.  Roll Eyes
Only cure for 0gnasty disease is to ignore him and his spam posts.
220  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Atomic Stealer - Mac OS malware that targets crypto wallets on: April 02, 2024, 06:08:55 PM
I see this Atomic Stealer malware is spreading over ads, that is most likely going to be g00gle ads, so I suggest using good adblocker like uBlock Origin, or have DNS based ad blocking.
I have no idea how so many people are able to use internet with all those ads, not only it's a big distraction but they can be dangerous.
