381  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: hito - New Hardware Wallet Open Source on: March 05, 2024, 11:18:58 PM
Discover the new hito Hadrware Wallet that is already Open Source.
With a 2-inch Full Color Touch Screen that is more convenient to use for NFTs than Stax's Ledger.
I know about Hito wallet but they are in pre-sale phase for way to long... and I think they are mostly focused on NFT with their color screen, and on altcoins with metamask wallet.
They claim to be open source but that was never released in public, so we can only speculate
Things that I do like is quality materials used in Hito device, like tempered glass and metal, similar like it is used in high-end smartphones.
Price of $125 is not bad, but it all looks like unfinished beta project to me.

I don't like the shape. I would prefer something more similar to a credit card shape.
Shape of this device looks like a key, and that is part of their logo also, so I understand why they choose to make it like this.
I don't fully understand how NFC device can have screen power, but I think that some smartphones usually have ring shape coils inside for charging.
So there is no secure elements in Portal?

Unfortunately, that also means it's not going to work with certain types of phone cases.
That is true, but most modern smartphones have NFC this days, even cheap models.

There's a 22% discount code [LOSTEMPIRE] for those who might be interested in purchasing this product.
Nice find!
I will try it later to confirm if it works, but I am not sure if they are sending devices from Europe or United States.

- OLED Screen / 0.91" / 126 x 64 px
Very small tiny screen, like I expected  Tongue
But I think most of operations will be conducted on smartphone anyway.

384  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SELLING][BTC BOND! NEW!] MX12art - ONLY BTC ART - constantly updated INFO! on: March 05, 2024, 09:30:51 AM
In 2022, you commented on my art thread regarding the Liquid Network artwork. You weren't a fan of it and suggested why not explore Lightning and Pizza Day themes. After two years, I now have two Lightning artworks, one representing the power of Lightning and another capturing the emotions of the person who bought that famous pizza. I even created a one page comic to illustrate the events.
True, but a lot has changed since 2022 and Lighting is working together with Liquid network now in Aqua wallet, that was the main thing that made me more flexible.
Another thing it is better option for using stable coins and quick swapping to bitcoin, that is much better with liquid than using other blockchains, and it's easier to use it as spending wallet when fees are high.
This is all Bitcoin related artwork you are making, so keep doing your thing Wink

Moraš imat account s njima, traže osobnu, potpisivanje ugovora etc. Al ono, isplati se.
Radi li worldwide dostava sigurno?

386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sparrow wallet vs nunchuck for jade cold wallet on: March 04, 2024, 06:36:37 PM
Hi everyone I was wondering what your thoughts were in regards to using sparrow wallet or nunchuck wallet I have heard a few people saying they don’t like nunchuck because of back up factor not sure if jade is the same ? Also can sparrow be used air gapped ? Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks
You can use Jade with both wallets, and yes Sparrow wallet can be used as offline airgapped wallet, if you set it up correctly.
Nunchuk can be used for mobile devices and Sparrow wallet only with desktop computers, so they both have pros and cons.
I prefer Spparow, but for more complicated multisig setups Nunchuk is better option.

Can sparrow be used with the jade via airgap ? I see that jade recommends on there website to use jade air gapped version with nunchuck. Is it even worth setting it up air gapped or could I just set it up by plugging it into the computer like how you set up a ledger. Thanks
Yes you can use Jade with Spparow just fine, but try them both and see what works better for you.

@maxirosson what do you think about newly announced open source hardware wallet called Portal, made by TwentyTwo?
This looks like interesting new concept of device that works without cables or batteries, and it is connected with smartphone via NFC connection.
One thing I noticed on their video is small screen that probably can't show complete bitcoin address at once.
Portal is currently being offered as pre-sale for €89 and delivery should be expected in Q3 of this year, unless something unexpected happens.

Good thing about it is that everything is released as open source even hardware schematics:

390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Satoshi worked for the NSA? on: March 04, 2024, 01:53:01 PM
It's worth mentioning that if someone distrusts their government, the monetary system, fights for privacy, and doesn't want to use any standards they apply, then why would they trust what the government deems a certified RNG? That someone is more likely to pick something the government doesn't recommend as safe if they have the skills to verify it.
You need to watch the full video to understand better, and I posted full link above.
His theory is that Satoshi was possibly working in NSA as programmer so he knew a lot more than people outside, but he didn't agree with many things government and banks were doing.
That is why he was very careful not to expose himself, and that is why he stopped posting right after Gavin Andresen told him that he is going to talk with cia.
No amount of skills will tell if you some RNG have government backdoors, it doesn't matter if it's certified or not, online someone from the inside could know that.

Sve ovo očito dobro funkcionira jer Jambler postoji i radi godinama bez ikakvih problema koliko ja znam.
Planiraš neku investiciju?  Cool

This Faketoshi circus is getting next level crazy.
It's funny to hear that his sister Danielle DeMorgan said that once she saw him dressed as a ninja, and other time he was working in a room full of computers, and that was the evidence for her that he created Bitcoin.
I thought that Faketoshi was the only crazy member of his family, but oh boy was I wrong  Cheesy
394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Satoshi worked for the NSA? on: March 02, 2024, 07:52:02 PM
When Satoshi created Bitcoin, they could have used a certified method to achieve randomness. One of those that turned out later to be backdoored and weak. Instead, they used an uncertified method in ECDSA and secp256k1 for key generation.
I saw this speculation recently posted by OG bitcoiner Davinci Jeremie, and it's not impossible scenario, this is not the first time someone said that Satoshi worked for some government agency.
Chances for Satoshi creating Bitcoin with one random cryptography that doesn't have backdoor access is very low, because at the time nobody knew that all other have backdoors.
Here is the short clip from one of Davinci interviews he gave recently for London Real, and Snowden is a part of that story:

395  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seeds Bitcoin on: March 02, 2024, 07:21:10 PM
I created a bunch of seed words for testing purposes and once I had to search for them to test and see if there are any leftover coins.
Some people say you should never throw away your old seed phrases, you never know when you may need them again, maybe to prove ownership of coins someday.
396  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed and hardware wallets on: March 02, 2024, 07:15:32 PM
I haven't tried every wallet on the market. According to my latest tests, you can't check your seed with the ledger, for example, but you can with a bitbox. (handy if you've lost the words, for example, but have access to your wallet and want to write them down somewhere). It seems to me that being able to review restoration words is very important for a beginner, as you don't always have the right reflexes at first. What do you think?
It's best to check your seed words every time they are generated to confirm you wrote them down correctly.
Trezor hardware wallet have the option from settings to do Check Backup, and I think it's a good idea to have this.
But I don't like the idea of any hardware wallets showing and exporting seed words.

If the wallet is stolen or destroyed, a good pin code will prevent the thief from accessing the funds. In reality, you have to find the right balance between security and ease of access to funds for the owner, which isn't always easy.
No, PIN code will not protect you from anything, it's just numbers, there are no letters or special characters.
397  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New HW wallet announced: COLDCARD Q1 on: March 01, 2024, 10:28:00 PM
Those are animated QRs, right? What do you mean not supported? Does that mean there is currently no popular software wallet capable of reading the QRs that the Q1 generates? Can I ask the source for this information?
Done ''right'' but in reality unusable.
Everyone else is using BC-UR standard, but nvk had to invent wheel again just so he could brag in social media... ™ Tongue

They wanted a qwerty keyboard to be accessible at  the wallet's routine but I think, they could make it to be attachable to the wallet with the small form factor and kill two birds with one stone. Besides , users could attach to such device their own portable keyboard. What do you think about this?
I don't think we need full size keyboards for any hardware wallets, they could compromise security, and think it would not work correctly.
If I wanted to bring a something like that I would just bring my laptop, it's probably easier (to use) than c0ldcard Q  Cheesy

I agree, but considering that they have a history of selling overpriced products [e.g. blockclock series], we shouldn't expect more from them.
I dont expect anything from nvk, especially after very long presale period, but I guess he is living from this business.

398  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: 19 Bitcoin Software Wallets, compared feature by feature on: March 01, 2024, 10:13:01 PM
There is a section for web wallets, "Web support", and mutiny is listed there. Regarding browser extension, do you think there is any wallet to recommend? It seems a bit insecure to use a browser extension as a wallet.
I don't like recommending web wallets and browser extensions but some people could find them useful, especially for Lightning Network.
There is Alby Bitcoin Lightning Wallet extension that is more popular, and I think even some hardware wallets have browser extensions like OneKey, Safepal and maybe others.
It should be also mentioned as a warning that scammers often create fake extensions, this happened with Trezor and ledger I think.
399  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New HW wallet announced: COLDCARD Q1 on: February 29, 2024, 09:19:01 PM
Ben from BTCSessions has created a video review for the upcoming Coldcard Q hardware wallet. The video shows how to set up the wallet when you first get it, how to backup and recover a wallet, how to pair it to the Nunchuk mobile wallet via NFC, the process of exporting the public keys, how to receive and send transactions, etc.
I like BTCSession and he is making very good videos, but colcard and nvk are one of his sponsors  Tongue
After watching this video I can confidently say that this is one of the worst looking hardware wallets I ever saw... it's huge and wider than his smartphone  Cheesy
Coldcard added BBQR code format that is not supported in any software wallets... and they say it was done right  Tongue
Paying $199 for this device without batteries and USB cable included is a waste of money.

400  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best decentralized exchange for Bitcoin to fiat on: February 29, 2024, 09:04:55 PM
I would like to know what the people of Bitcointalk recommend as the best DEX to sell bitcoin for fiat? I want to avoid all CEXes.
Only Bisq is trully decentralized exchange., but you can use other p2p and centralized exchanges just fine, for example Robosats (with lightning), Peach Bitcoin (mobile in EU), Agoradesk, HodlHodl.
If you want to save on fees Robosats is probably best option available right now with LN:
