781  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Decentralized exchanges with lightning network on: April 23, 2024, 07:16:04 PM
Bisq is the best decentralized exchange and they added support for Lightning Network trading.
Robosats is also cool and good for p2p trading but it is not really decentralized.
Last option I would check for cash trading is PeachBitcoin app, but I am not sure if they have Lightning support yet.
782  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bit.store card on: April 23, 2024, 06:56:02 PM
After charging me a $1 monthly fee for the second time this month my card suddenly stopped working. They posted the following message on Telegram
I was just about to make a post about this.
They not only charged monthly fees, but they canceled and blocked all my cards for some stupid reason and for my ''protection''.
I had one refund in process for one of my purchases, but this is now impossible to complete  Tongue
Another thing I noticed is they deleted telegram support group @BitStoreHelp but that was useless anyway.

I was always saying that this and any other virtual card service is risky, and people should not keep any money there.
Here are some of many email messages I received from them:

Quote

What can I say as conclusion - made in china.
783  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OrangeFren.com - instant, KYC-free, exchange comparison on: April 23, 2024, 06:41:52 PM
You can contact the broker personally via SimpleX (there's a link on the result page of a search to sell crypto). Then he can answer all your questions.
Sure I will.
So I just need to write a message to broker with trade I want to do, right?
That is decent amount of cities being supported with broker, but I guess there will be no real guarantee from OrangeFren (since this is a partner) that users won't be tricked or scammed in some way.

Note for everyone that broker is only accepting >10 000 USD trades.

784  Economy / Reputation / Re: BitcoinGirl.Club: How a condescending attitude equates to trust exclusion on: April 23, 2024, 06:16:09 PM
First openly[1] and then in PM, icopress told everyone [that are in his campaigns, targeting those who are effected by Jambler's ban] to distrust BitcoinGirl.Club and they did.
That is a lie and/or false assumption mixed with some paranoia.
Icopress never told me to distrust you or anyone else, and I am not some blind follower to do whatever someone else tells me to do.
You are obviously pissed that so many people distrusting you now, but nobody trusts snitches with their judgement even if they are speaking the truth, and this was not the case here  Tongue

You also got another member who now trusts you for ''good'' job:

785  Other / Meta / Re: Post per day/ per month falling. on: April 23, 2024, 05:59:46 PM
You never know whether more merit would attract more people in your local board. Few years ago Croatian board got few new merit sources (after being one of the least merited boards) and it didn't really help us much when it coesm to activity as it keeps decreasing, even though we (probably) have more merit available than ever before.
That is true, but I think we lost some quality members in last few years and that affected activity and number of posts in our local board.
However, there are few new members that appeared also like SirJohn, Luno-something and few others that contribute more with quality than quantity.

786  Other / Meta / Re: [theymos] Bug with Merit (for sending) on: April 23, 2024, 05:53:20 PM
Is it a bug, though?
I merited you with 1% and it worked Wink

If I ever see a super B post I'll try something like "1-.0" to see if it sends 10 merits. Grin
This won't work.
I tried sending tranthidung 0-1 and 1-.0 merits and it didn't work showing invalid amount error.
It's not ignoring all other characters if they are written between two or more numbers.

787  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Satodime - Bitcoin Halving - Limited Edition on: April 22, 2024, 08:30:14 PM
what would be cool is if they could get funded with the 3.125 mBTC from the halving block!
Yes it would, but someone would have to pay a lot more for that because of crazy transaction fees  Tongue
I wonder if someone actually did it anyway...

Fomo is real, only 10 left for this limited edition.
More pictures: https://x.com/satochip/status/1782375617192669597
I have a feeling this 10 cards won't be available for much longer, but I just now saw that you added exact dollar value with time and date on design... very cool. Wink
788  Economy / Reputation / Re: Resurrection of old accounts on: April 22, 2024, 08:15:03 PM
As the price increases, we are seeing a lot of old accounts reawakening.   Some of them are contacting me asking to remove old trust, as they are a new person, or they are changed.
They are probably hacked or sold accounts that changed hands, but I would first check if they changed email address and/or account password, along with their post history.

I wouldn't make statements that I would never change my trust feedback for any member, since there are rear genuine cases, but I certainly don't like when I receive PM's like this.  Tongue
789  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is Bitgo a scam? I think it is on: April 22, 2024, 08:09:11 PM
I attempted to withdraw a large amount from my account after I cleared the Crypto Withdrawal Authorization by depositing 10K.  It only deposited 100 dollars in my wallet.  It further said to release the rest of the money, I have to deposit 20K to "clear the blockchain channel".  This must be a scam. Please help me folks.  Thanks.
You need to write more information and present some evidence when you are accusing any service for being a scam.
Real Bitgo is not a scam company and they exist for years, but I wouldn't waste time sending them bitcoin and giving them control over my keys for a small percentage profit.
It's more likely that you used some phishing website and someone tricked you to send them your coins.
790  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Make sure to avoid wasting BTC for too high fees – step by step guide (Electrum) on: April 22, 2024, 07:55:06 PM
Even Jochen Hoenicke's website doesn't have any colours above that limit anymore.
I dont know when they last updated their website and made some changes, everything looks the same like in the old days and I thin they need some redesign to fit this extreme high fees.
Mempool.space is much better alternative, both visually and for more information, so I switched to this as my main source for monitoring transaction fees state.

792  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: buying bitcoin with a creditcard on: April 20, 2024, 05:31:41 PM
I checked peach bitcoin's accepted payment methods[1] but they doesn't have credit card payment. Although if OP is open for bank transfers then yes it could be possible but still depends on his/her currency. OP can check this gsheet before from peach bitcoin's platform.
He can do cash payment deal with other person using Peach Bitcoin via meeting, this is even better than using credit card payment.

For other methods I remember that Coingate is offering Bitcoin purchase with credit card, but I would probably wait for current crazy transaction fees to cool down before doing this.
Note that I didn't use credit card method with coingate, but I used that service for other things before:

793  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why has bitcoin prices not increased just after halving ? on: April 20, 2024, 05:16:17 PM
We can see transaction fees increased a lot  Tongue
There is no magic halving button to press that would increase price of bitcoin, it's just people and institutions buying and selling coins when they think it's best for them.
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold vs bitcoin in a WWIII scenario on: April 20, 2024, 05:09:01 PM
In hypothetical WWIII scenario most of the things we think are valuable today could become worthless, especially in case if there is no standard flow of electricity and internet connection.
Gold would probably still have better value in the beginning, but price of food and essentials would skyrocket.
We can't compare today situation with WWII and earlier wars because there was no internet and no bitcoin.
795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If this doesn't wake you up and make you do the RIGHT thing... on: April 19, 2024, 02:58:08 PM
What does this tell you?
Another thing to add is that Coinbase exchange is now custodian for most Bitcoin ETF's, there are only few exceptions Gemini and Bitgo, and only one is held by self-custody.
Anyone who is saying that there is no centralization in bitcoin ecosystem is just ignoring and closing their eyes when they see stuff like this.
796  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: buying bitcoin with a creditcard on: April 19, 2024, 02:51:09 PM
Does anyone know any European or international platform offering such services??
You can buy bitcoin with cash using Peach Bitcoin app and you don't need to perform any verification with some daily limitations.
Other alternatives are Bisq exchange, Robosats and Agoradesk, so you can try to find what is best for your location.
There are other services that accept credit cards but you could be asked to perform kyc there for trading.
797  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Rant-Hardware Wallet Physical Quality on: April 19, 2024, 02:32:50 PM
I then wound up knocking it off the desk and put a small crack in the screen but the touch part stopped working.
So here it is in all it's glory while waiting for a new screen and battery from some sketchy seller in China
Are you sure that you didnt just brick the device and triggered self-destruction protection mechanism when you opened the device?

I am not expecting superior quality from $100 device but I would suggest having some kind of case protection for device.
Strange that Keystone didnt already release some accessories like silicone case, screen protection foil, etc. but you can create your own DIY protection stuff.

2) Did the main pack go bad and internally and when it dropped to 0 cause an issue?
There is a issue with many modern Lithium batteries, especially if they are not used for a while.
798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cheap & silent mini PC for Bitcoin node & blockchain explorer? on: April 19, 2024, 02:23:14 PM
I'd like to think that every watt counts, especially if you can do the same task with less electricity, and especially for tasks that run 24/7. At € 0,2718/kWh, each additional watt costs €2.38 per year. If you can get 20 watts off by buying the right hardware for the job, and plan to run it for 6 years before replacing it, it's worth spending up to €285 more on the hardware.
Sure, but we are not talking big savings here, unless you turned all devices in your house to lower power.
Refrigerator and other devices are spending much more power and they are working 24/7.
It's not a bad idea to buy power meter for sockets to check how much power they all use.

Usually, power and noise go hand in hand. Less power means less cooling. I used to have loud hardware around me, but now really appreciate quiet things.
Same here.
I even purchased totally silent analogue wall clock.
799  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: April 19, 2024, 02:02:35 PM
i have some issue on an ongoing order.
I suggest you better contact support on eXch website and be patient until they reply.
There was some issue a while ago related with bug in monero code, guys from eXch fixed it with some workaround, but maybe something similar happened again in your case.
They wrote more about it back in March:

Today we added fiat <> crypto rates!!
Finally!
I have been looking for something like this for a very long time.
With my testing using different amounts and I am only getting offers from Bisq right now.
Are there any future plans for adding more rates from other providers like PeachBitcoin, Robosats and others?

With the OrangeFren Broker Partner you can sell crypto straight for cash 💸, in person 🤝, around the World 🌎, without KYC  Cool
How can we find more information about OTC Broker and available locations?
