That's twisted  Bitcoin certainly challenges rule makers, many things appear to be starting over from scratch with bitcoin. Maybe he's afraid that people can't control government and bitcoin is govcoin? Personally, I see past it because I can count 100 good things for every 1 bad thing and I can see government as the consensus of the local/county/state/country blockchains. FYI: I would say I knew Karl fairly well. I was an highly active member of his forums (and Gold Donator) for over four years. I was the one who explained how Bitcoin worked to him back in 2011/2012. It's not that he's afraid people can't control government - that would make him favour Bitcoin - he blames the population for not controlling the government and holding them accountable for the Constitution. So far this view has lead him to start two unsuccessful attempts at new political parties and numerous protests, and despite those failures he refuses to accept the possibility that the road to the solution to all the problems he's identified does not pass through politics. |

He's got a strong background in programming, finance, and macro economics, so he knows exactly what Bitcoin represents. That's why he opposes it. But when I want to make an informed trading decision, I need to take an "external" view, one that doesn't take into account the higher goals of the Bitcoin movement, but only considers the objective reality of the market situation (as in: the likelihoods of certain outcomes). This being the speculation subforum, I sometimes would hope for a bit more tolerance of this type of analysis. Even considering the external view, there are reasonable discussions to be had regarding time preferences and opportunity cost. Even if everybody accepts the end goal is to finish with the largest pile of Bitcoins, there are different strategies for doing so. One person might try to sell at local tops and buy back in at local bottoms on a fairly frequent basis. Another person might do this infrequently, only after large movements, and use their remaining time to accumulate more Bitcoins from other types of activity than trading. |

I feel there's a certain level of cognitive dissonance rampant on this forum: everyone welcomes the "free market" and "doing exactly what you think is right", but when it applies to BTC price, those who sell early rather than wait for a much higher price level are considered as acting almost anti-social. We're in the midst of a civil war of sorts, with Bitcoin currently serving as the battleground. On one side, there are people for whom Bitcoin is a succession movement (from fiat). On the other hand are the people who are working to maintain fiat hegemony. The two groups have opposing goals, so naturally they don't see eye-to-eye. |

That, coupled with the apparent inability for people to let their winners run caused him to speculate that if/when Wall Street level traders do show up, that the "day tradurrz" of BTC right now are going to get chewed the fuck up.

It's called "Do not ask again" or "Do not show this message again". That's been there for a while but only when you click the "Offline Transactions" button on the main window. On the .11 testing release, it is now also displayed when you try to create any unsigned transaction.
If you click the "Do not show again" box, it will disable it in both places.
Sounds perfect. |

I think getting such a warning every time would be rather annoying.
Somebody should invent a general solution to the problem of repetitive and redundant warning dialogs. If only there was some way for a user to indicate that they have seen a warning and thus should not have not have it shown again... such an invention could be useful in a wide variety of situations. |

Sometimes I think the best thing that could happen to that part of the world is an earthquake that dropped the entire region into the Mediterranean Sea.
We've seen nearly a century of conflict between equally-guilty sides, supplied and funded by a bunch of governments around the world at the expense of their own populations because it's a good way to make some extra money for the arms exporters and I'm tired of hearing about it.

Breaking compatibility like that and just give users big red non-descriptive error messages really isn't very elegant though  Alan can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he added a much clearer warning to 0.91.99.9. Is the warning going to be in the right place? The warning should occur on the online instance of Armory as soon as they try to being the spending process from an offline wallet. Currently you don't get a warning at all until you've created the unsigned transaction, moved it to the offline machine, and try to sign it. |

That's what Big Trade is buying into - the utility, not the speculative opportunity, so I'm not expecting another "launch". I'll be very surprised if we see $1000 again - there's no good reason for it at the transactional level. That belief is certainly the goal which the present psyop against Bitcoin is attempting to achieve. |
