1741  Economy / Economics / Re: Coronavirus is very harmful to fiat currencies, not bitcoin on: March 13, 2020, 07:59:36 PM
The problem is that cryptocurrency does not provide a immediate relief of the concern, because it is considered as an asset, which you always have to sell it first then get fiat money to spend.

Of course. This is a longer term boon, definitely not a short term one. Bitcoin is going to get fucking hammered just like everything else. When the smoke clears you can bet your bippy that economies will be even weirder, more skewed and more zombified than they already are which is really saying something.

It's at that point that more people come to a realisation as to whether anything is worth anything and look around for something straight edge and cast iron like BTC. It's going to be a nice while yet before it starts to happen though.

1742  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 13, 2020, 07:53:31 PM
So I guess we have a day or so to find out if we have a dead cat bounce or a double bottom. Either way, the price will likely go down a bit.

Unless you're buying or have urgent financial need and have to sell or spend I'm not really sure why anyone's bothering to pay attention to the price. It's going to be all over the place for the next 2-3 months at a bare minimum with little relation to fundamentals, reality or anything else one can whip up.

It's like worrying about your hairdo after you've been beheaded and the basket that caught your head is on fire.

The Brazilian president tested positive for our fave disease. No doubt Trump massaged his prostate during their visit a few days back. There seem to be an awful lot of politicians getting it but that's par for the course when you mingle with hundreds or thousands of people per day.
1744  Economy / Speculation / Re: Types of People on this Corona Virus crisis which group you belong? on: March 13, 2020, 01:58:18 PM
So Im assume both of you @gentlemand and the @The Pharmacist have the same feeling towards this and most likely in the same hub. But based on your reaction it seems, Im lacking another category for the both of you but what to called it? Hmmmm... Im started the terms but I am open for suggestion.  Grin Grin feel free if you wouldnt mind.

I suppose I would technically be a brave holder but there's no braveness involved.

My preference is to be categorised as - Ice Queen.

Anyone who's seen 2014/15 should be the same by now but we're all endlessly diverse.

One possible partial workaround is the PornHub approach, the "seek scope": a visual indicator of the number of views plotted over the time axis. It makes it easier to seek to the juicy bits instantly. As usual, porn sites have leading edge tech.

I have no idea what you're talking about you Dirty Bertie.

And it sounds like it won't be any help in feeding my radiator fetish anyway. I can't fucking STAND it when they pan straight past one.
1746  Economy / Speculation / Re: A hard manipulation? on: March 13, 2020, 01:25:41 PM
They cash out to avoid the risks while waiting for the bottom.

Many people are facing the real prospect of being unable to earn any money, maybe for the rest of the year. Think how many businesses will grind to a complete halt such as anything tourism related.

I'm mystified how anyone can be mystified by this move. Being able to survive trounces your dreams of future riches any day of the week. I'm sure there were some whale moves in there somewhere like any other time but it's human nature 101 to shit the bed in a moment like this.
1747  Economy / Speculation / Re: Types of People on this Corona Virus crisis which group you belong? on: March 13, 2020, 01:14:22 PM
I'm a do nothing and feel nothing.

Anyone surprised by the shit of the millennium when the rest of the world is doing the exact same thing is a bit unusual in my opinion. I would've been seriously weirded out if it hadn't done that.
1748  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 13, 2020, 01:07:55 PM
I also skip YouTube videos. Usually they host people that are not able to simply condense their thoughts in a couple of words or their points are boring anyway with the only solution of hiding it in a 15m Youtube talk.

Give me the printed letters or it won’t happen.

They don't get any money unless it's over a certain length.

Youtube becoming a prime conveyor of information will cause the minds of the human race to melt. I can read something in a few seconds. I'm not going to spend minutes scrolling between coughing, cursors that move like a sedated slug and yards of drivel to find the one sentence I need.

did the blackout drunk thing work? cant really remember anything.. so maybe it did.

uuuuuuuuungghh

I bought one these

Filled it with nitrous oxide and got one of my personal assistants to tape the seams shut after I climbed inside.

I'm having a superb time though I'm developing tunnel vision and I'm blacking out every minute or two. My assistant is applauding from the outside.

Today is the first day in like 2 years my nocoiner friend mentioned BTC and that he'd like to buy because he heard "it dropped 50%"  Grin Bullish!  Cool

Wow. Most people of that ilk think either 'it's ded' or 'it'll go lower' and then buy 5 minutes before the peak several years later.

Your man sounds like he was born to it.
1751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In times of turmoil, is Bitcoin really a safe-haven asset? on: March 13, 2020, 01:41:19 AM
Tbh, its a lie that's parroted/spread around here for some absurd reason. I guess it makes them feel better about their btc investment. Good luck to them.

It's one of many theories that people cherished. I never understood why as it makes no sense at all.

It's not what you think about it that counts, it's what everyone else thinks and today they've at least eliminated that particular meme for a long time to come.
1752  Economy / Speculation / Re: finally all the weak hands are shaken out on: March 12, 2020, 11:53:24 PM
Every time the market makes a huge dive people cheer because "weak hands sold", but with that logic there would be no weak hands on this market because we had so many crashes in Bitcoin history. And you don't even know who is selling, maybe the same people who sold at $7k yesterday will buy now at $5k. And maybe today's strong hands will become the weak hands in a few months, or maybe the weak hands that sell now are still taking big profits because they bought before 2017.

I've been seeing the weak hands comments since my arrival in 2013. I suppose you can regard it as a game of pass the parcel, but a never ending one. There will be an eternal cycle of strong and weak hands and a bunch of psychos pulling strings on both of them in the background. Those are the dead hands.
1753  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2020, 11:39:07 PM
I know it's a joke but please, anyone out there even considering this.... please don't Smiley

Yeah. Gimme a call. I'll take you for a walk somewhere picturesque and cheer you up from a sensible distance.
1754  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2020, 11:35:31 PM

Don't forget to ask the place selling the rope whether they'll accept BTC. Even in one's final moments you can do your bit for 'adoption'.
1755  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In times of turmoil, is Bitcoin really a safe-haven asset? on: March 12, 2020, 11:22:38 PM
I've been pretty flabbergasted at the people flabbergasted by today's events. What on Earth did they think would happen? This isn't some bank going down or country making a balls up of itself. It's a global seizure. There's a bit of a kerfuffle in a corner of a market and then there's THIS.

The world is filled with people. Some of those people own Bitcoin. Those people will react in the same way as most other people. I think sometimes Bitcoin fans believe those 'holders' out there are steely buttocked missile men who won't let them down when it really counts. In reality they're quaking in their Y fronts while weeping in their gaming chair just like they are.
1756  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2020, 09:59:45 PM

If he dies I expect an animatronic Tom to replace him operated by CIA puppeteers. Trump can sick up his own ruined lungs on the Resolute desk live during a TV address and the world will keep on turning. No way will They let Tom meet the same end. If he goes our will will be broken.
1757  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC lost 3K $ in 1 day, Whales Are In Action on: March 12, 2020, 09:55:54 PM
I fully expect the sellers to be would be whales who lost their resolve. Many of the sells have the characteristics of people throwing in the towel without regard for the timing or effect of their sells.

Real whales stay put and gorge themselves at the bottom. Then they'll fart on your heart again just as you're popping the champers.
1758  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2020, 09:37:47 PM
This can't happen; bitcoin should've been outperforming every single asset out there during this time.

Um, why?

There are 6 or 7 figure sells with no accounting for slippage. That isn't 'manipulation', that's running for it. The most obvious explanation is often the right one. There are lots of 'stick a fork in it' comments elsewhere and dribbling about it being untouchable for a generation.

Let's see what happens in the coming weeks and there'll be sunnier times eventually but right now the idea of it being innoculated from something ravaging every other market is laughable.

1759  Economy / Speculation / Re: S&P took quite a hit today on: March 12, 2020, 07:49:48 PM
I guess the higher you fly the harder you fall...

Is it not an official bear with the Dow Jones now?

America seemed rather more bubbly than Britain up until THIS but I don't pay a massive amount of attention to stock markets. I guess the next 3-6 weeks will decide the course of economies for quite a long time to come.
1760  Economy / Speculation / Re: S&P took quite a hit today on: March 12, 2020, 07:35:41 PM
Does anyone know if we're in a recession yet? We're about 23% down from what I can tell and I thought it was anything below 20% (unless that's a bear market).

It is indeed a 20% drop to make a bear market. I presume to declare a recession you need to analyse a longer period of time before calling it. I would not be too surprised if they decide to just fake the figure even when everyone's pants are clearly on fire.
