This is the one that resonated more with me...

Anybody else getting waves of dread that don't really go away, but just get temporarily patted down by slightly noisier stimuli (a loud thing on the TV, a particularly funny tweet, a phone call)?

The tweeter is a reporter which isn't going to raise your spirits.

I feel zero dread. I'm in full control of my circumstances and they're fine and will be fine. I feel for anyone in a situation where they don't have that option. I don't for anyone who's done nothing and is going out licking door handles. They can kiss my arse (with a dental dam).

Thanks for the excellent scouting. Replacing V8 as our fastestest retriever are you?

No. His abilities are beyond the supernatural.

I wonder if times such as these will eventually lead to stricter rules about public companies - such as after-the-fact voiding of manager bonuses, forced state repossession of nonconforming companies and similar draconian laws. Seeing what is being imposed on the general population in the name of the common good, which is quite close to enforcing police state rules, I'd say it wouldn't be too far fetched.

Talk of strings attached here - https://twitter.com/sahilkapur/status/1240012636013592581

I doubt that pinko faggot shit will pass though.
1684  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you ready for the Halving ??? Not that Halving, the PRICE Halving of Bitcoin on: March 18, 2020, 03:02:19 PM
Dear Hard, the more fervent you are the more people will tune you out.

If you want to break our spirit then you have to be rather more insidious than a relentless spew of puerile squeaking. That way lies the ignore button.

Fish and Chips
Warm Beer
Cricket

That's about it.

The UK is the world's 10th biggest exporter and ranks similarly for manufacturing. However a lot of the exports are services and they're likely to get ravaged by the B word, if or when that ever happens that is.

There's now talk of universal basic income. This means that very soon we will be a leading exporter of poorly made tractors, sour cabbage and Victory Gin.

That pretty much says it all. The problem with many things, and especially ETH and similar contraptions, is that there is ALWAYS an unforeseen circumstance and ALWAYS someone present at the right moment to exploit it.

This is an area I'm going to leave to others to iron out for many, many years before taking the plunge.
1687  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: March 18, 2020, 01:16:14 AM
Well, I've never used it, so I'm not going to start now. I would recommend anyone still using it to go try out other wallets.

It's a superb wallet and I've never had the slightest problem with it. I'm not totally sure whether the same personnel are involved during the dodgy part. It definitely did have a pretty shameless phase but that seems to be over now.

What's happening here locally is the emergency rooms are filled up with people who have questionable coughs, while people who are actually in dire need are being sent home because there are no beds. I disagree with an easy dismissal of this event. It's a mess.

Don't mess with his narrative, dude.

To think that not using Craig Wright's vision of the internet would lead to death...

I don't know whether to be offended or to laugh.

Now Craigy is fully established as Satoshi it's time for him to claim those other identities that he's been too modest to mention up until now.

Through Science it has been proven that he is the Kwisatz Haderach.

This is a man, nee entity, that can kill with a word.

Let that sink in.
1690  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 17, 2020, 04:42:41 PM
By the time this is done universal basic income may well be a thing in several countries including the US. China made commies out of us all just with one asshole eating a bat that fucked a pangolin.
1691  Economy / Speculation / Re: S&P took quite a hit today on: March 17, 2020, 02:22:38 PM
I'm wondering whether they'll give any consideration to suspending stock trading. There comes a point where there's so much chaos and uncertainty it becomes impossible to price anything. Then again maybe suspending the media would do the most good.
1692  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin was never meant to be a hedge against a Global Pandemic on: March 17, 2020, 09:54:10 AM
Good point but I was expecting something else, maybe I was delusional but I was really thinking that bitcoin will grow in times like this, but now I am convince that its too early, bitcoin is not that strong in worst market situation like what we are witnessing now, its too risky, maybe in the future?

It acted exactly how I expected all along.

If it were being used as a form of money by a large enough number of people that would make it a very different proposition in terms of resilience to something that's pure speculation. I'm not sure it'll ever reach that phase in our lifetimes.

As for global panic, that can't be kept up forever. Even if things fundamentally change for several months people eventually normalise and adapt long before the actual problem is solved.
1693  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 17, 2020, 02:39:49 AM
Something occured to me today watching bits of Trump:

I don't think he wants to be President anymore. It's no fun when tens of thousands of people may die because you're a stupid buffoon. And now that he can't shake hands, hold elaborate dinners, and instead is expected to deal with a meltdown it's not the job it used to be....

Interesting.

Did he ever I wonder? He would've had a lot more fun if he'd been beaten and plenty say that was the actual plan.

I wonder what he thinks sat in his g string all alone watching TV at night. Not a great I assume but there might be some regrets deep down somewhere. However his ego won't allow him to lose so he's going to see it through no matter what. He'll probably reach a point where he signs anything put in front of him without reading it so he can get back to his big mac. Maybe America will end up with Karl Marx Day because of it.
1694  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Blacklisting of payment processors USD on: March 17, 2020, 01:45:51 AM
Your credit card issuer doesn't care about charges for hosting fees, SSL, or Fiverr -- those may be crypto-related to you, but they aren't to your bank. Your bank just sees them as web services, freelancing, etc.

When they see you charging credit to buy bitcoins through Simplex, that's a very different type of activity, which is prohibited by the bank.

OP's own words.

Yepp, credit cards that I used with no problem for at least 1 year to purchase BTC

Maybe OP hadn't used it in a while as it's been blocked since June 2019 - https://www.investopedia.com/news/capital-one-blocks-cryptocurrency-purchases-its-card/

And they blocked Coinbase buys at the start of 2018 but I dunno if that changed.

I can't imagine they slipped through the cracks until now so something's getting lost in translation.
1695  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we agree BTC is not a store of value? on: March 16, 2020, 10:09:39 PM
The whole narrative Bitcoin is a store of value has change because of the corona pandemic. We haven't seen this before, and we really don't know how to react. Even the traditional global markets is also reacting negatively isn't it? So currently, with the obvious dump, I would say yes, it could not be considered as a store of value. But nevertheless, in the future, when we have this kind of crisis again, maybe the whole context will change.

If Bitcoin was 100 years old and this was the first time it had happened then I think people would be more justified in feeling a little surprised. Since it didn't even exist the last time the world creamed its knickers I have little sympathy for anyone who's profoundly shocked by this.
1696  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 16, 2020, 10:07:40 PM
Anybody think the bottom is in & we’ll ride it out sideways for a bit until this fucking virus FUD dies out before heading to $7000 & beyond near the halving?

If I had to bet on an outcome this would be it?

To many unknown unknowns to make any type of guess in my opinion. It is being made up as it happens.
1697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia Banned Crypto Trading on: March 16, 2020, 09:30:52 PM
I don't believe a word that any Russian official says about crypto. They all talk shit and contradict each other.

And the only bit of crypto where Russia leads is scamming anyway. It never has been a significant market. If it goes it's unfortunate for Russians but the rest of the market will pay little attention.

And more than likely if any of this is true it'll be just the same as other 'bans' - banks will not be allowed to hold, issue or sell crypto directly and there are barely any banks anywhere on the planet that do that.
1698  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: March 16, 2020, 07:19:51 PM
I thought Mycelium is stopped now? Or development on it was stopped. I am not sure, as I've never used it even when it was still available before. They had some sort of crowd funding. Could also be I confused this with another wallet that also has stopped development, but the only other wallet I can think of is multibit.

Mycelium on iOS has been abandoned for well over a year so no one should be using that. It's still getting constant updates for Android.

As for that token sale thing, they got a nice Spanish holiday out of it and it's never been mentioned since.
1699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a 'two-phased' product, which makes it ponzi/pyramid-like on: March 16, 2020, 06:43:14 PM
Man all these people are firing themselves up again. It's like a Tardigrade unfreezing and starting to twitch.

No idea what OP wrote nor do I care. Go and expend your energy shopping for a self isolating elderly person.

More on Bitmex here. One geezer in that article is asking for industry wide circuit breakers. I wonder whether that would be popular or hated. It might ruin some peoples', namely Bitmex management, fun.
