1761  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling a .com domain in the marketplace on: March 12, 2020, 07:04:20 PM
You will probably get ignored or receive derisory offers but hey, advertising it here is free. Not sure I've ever seen any domain sale here generate any enthusiasm.

If I had a domain to sell I would go to the places that sell domains. That's where domain buyers go even for what you may think is an obscure one.
1762  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2020, 06:58:20 PM
Bitcoin is supposed to be the hedge against the global markets tossing their cookies..

Well, I never bought that one myself.

And there are different types of cookie tossing. There's some sort of currency/policy disaster and then there's straightforward DISASTER. Nothing with the potential for volatility survives that unscathed, let alone thrives.
1763  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis on: March 12, 2020, 06:42:44 PM
Oh no the bullish halving narrative was just a trap  Undecided

Still is.

In the long run.

You can't have a change like that without an effect however you do need some demand and usage in place. I don't think we're going to see that for a while but it'll be back some day.
1764  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2020, 06:19:42 PM
This is just straight up bullshit..
Bitcoin was supposed to be protection from shit like this, not just dump right off right along with the mainstream economy..
I'm pissed..

With all due respect if you believed Bitcoin would somehow be immune to the global economy tossing its cookies then you are a silly sausage.

Bitcoin is owned by people. People tend to react to extreme things in the same manner no matter what the arena.

Let's see what the recoveries look like and judge again.

What happened ? We dropped to $6K. We need a Plan C now.

One Twitterato's theory vs a world running around with its panties on its head.

Who's going to win?

Hmm....
1766  Economy / Speculation / Re: Corona virus and stock market have NOTHING to do with bitcoin and its price on: March 12, 2020, 02:38:22 PM
lack of confidence in the markets in general could explain a 20% to 30% drop not a freakish 50% drop that is not slowing down either!

Why not? We all know how painfully thin the crypto markets are despite the bubbly figures faked by many an exchange. A stock market can absorb vastly more conclusive exits. And we also know how skittish and emotional crypto owners can be.
1767  Economy / Speculation / Re: S&P took quite a hit today on: March 12, 2020, 02:23:28 PM
Looking at corrections since 2008, this is now bigger than 2018 or 2011. This is the biggest drop since 2008, though we aren't anywhere close to 2008 magnitude of decline yet.

BTC is in a panic frenzy of its own. Just saw a $1,600 drop in a single 30-minute candle. Margin longs just got completely annihilated, as did all of this years gains.

Things are looking pretty grim at the moment across all markets. Enough blood in the streets yet, or have we seen nothing yet? Lips sealed

The British market is heading for the worst day since 1987.

I guess we'll see about blood in the streets, but since all this bonkersdom threatens the very survival of many companies in a way that's never been this stark before I expect some turds in the streets before it's over.
1768  Economy / Speculation / Re: Corona virus and stock market have NOTHING to do with bitcoin and its price on: March 12, 2020, 02:17:56 PM
Coolio.

Erm why's it pooing its panties then?

If there's no confidence anywhere at the moment it stands to reason that the same lack of confidence will affect all markets.

Leads me to ponder whatever happened to folk who were posting back then.  I sometimes wonder what the ratios are for:

Still Around : Bored of WO and signed off : Got Wrecked and signed off : Made Enough to Retire and Disappeared : Suffered Psychosis and Disappeared : Died

I would love to know those stats too. Many accounts seem to have gotten hacked which could've accounted for them. Plenty lost the plot. I think the smallest number will be those who sold a fortune and then signed out one final time with a salute and a toast.

As for the current price action, bleurgh. It is what it is and I would've been astounded had it been any other way.
1770  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2020, 01:11:04 PM
That may well have been the longest ever post (in vertical pixels) on here??

I recall yards of gay porn, and once the image ban for newbies was implemented entirely because of that one psychotic poster, yards of ASCII porn.

It didn't stick around long though.
1771  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is below $6000 due to corona virus panic, what's next? on: March 12, 2020, 12:01:57 PM
We all know corona isn't going to kill us all.

It's economics, not disease. No one's seen anything like this in recent times and they may never again. Ideally it'll be a brief spasm but a lot of companies will go to the wall all the same. Hopefully there will be global will to mitigate the damage.
1772  Economy / Speculation / Re: Alternative to coinbase pro for the UK on: March 12, 2020, 11:55:57 AM
That all sounds perfectly standard stuff. Everywhere else will be the same pretty much. And unlike Bitstamp once all that's done they don't spring any extra shit on you when your money is tied up.

I've send a couple of selfies looking like a cave dweller compared to my ID photo. It was fine.

If it's making you sad as an actual entity then you can also look into Kraken which now has proper GBP integration.

1773  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is below $6000 due to corona virus panic, what's next? on: March 12, 2020, 11:53:36 AM
And what could be the reason to stop this bleeding?

The world stopping itself from eating itself?

There might be many months of buttock clenching. Impossible to tell where it's going to end or when it's going to end.

It's a moment for people to ask themselves whether they believe in things long term. If you do then do some cost averaging and get on with your life elsewhere. There may not be a great deal of fun served up for a while.

Our Donald is addressing us. His breathing sounds fucked up.

I was watching Virus, nee Fukkatsu No Hi, the other day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiPgnXygor8 which has a bit where the oval office is filled with dying snotty people. I hope it wasn't prescient.

The only place left is Antarctica with six women to go round between a few hundred blokes. If you have a woman around the house post her down there for the sake of the human race.

6.5 million Australians, the skint ones, are getting $750 from the government to cheer them up. Will there be more of the same elsewhere?
1776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos talking about Bitcoin in 2013 on: March 11, 2020, 11:12:48 PM
Am pretty sure I read that that was a practice run or sound check type thing. He would've had that sort of turnout in 2010/11, not 2013.

I remember seeing a photo posted of Coinbase at a crypto conference in 2013. Brian Coinbase was there with one trestle table and a few badges and shit. These days he'd descend from the ceiling with a rocket belt.
1777  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2020, 11:08:47 PM
Today, I just found out the hard way that everyone here wasn't joking. Thank goodness I was able to score some by calling around. I really don't want to have to resort to using a cloth rag.  Cheesy

1778  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2020, 12:13:27 PM
blah blah blah.. no excuses. BTC was designed to shine in a moment like this. And we are failing.

It don't matter what it was designed to do. What matters is how it's treated and perceived by its present owners. Most of them treat as the frilliest end of their betting slip.
1779  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptotalk Future on: March 11, 2020, 12:14:10 AM
Am not a VPN fan as i have nothing to hide, as am not slso an active cryptoalk user as well. But i post about this here to let the community know if any updates took place without announcing from support.

I use VPNs all the time. I have nothing to hide either. They are extremely convenient with all the increasingly irritating geographic blocks out there or using websites that limit visits. Since you have an issue then solve it.

You'll get enough free data with Windscribe per month to be able to use it and you can choose the location it thinks you're logging in from and stick to it. Other free options like Opera will be a lot messier.
1780  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin is now legal in india. on: March 11, 2020, 12:06:00 AM
Good luck to the RBI in getting the decision overturned. The legal team on the exchange side seems very confident the victory will stand.

Maybe this particular decision will stand but we've seen what the Indian government is willing to do to its people in the name of driving them towards their economic goals. Bitcoin does not align with those goals so if I were Indian I'd be buying with the expectation of future meddling.
