1181  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin ever be 20K USD again? on: May 20, 2020, 08:53:08 PM
Even if things were boring but still alive and relatively lively, though not at all bubbly, it would simply get there because of dollar inflation eventually.

Why - Increasing education, awareness, avenues to buy and sell, less production.

Why not - the world going to shit.
1182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who remembers this transaction ? on: May 20, 2020, 12:09:27 PM
That's what a lot of people don't consider until they either get walloped with a huge fee or the fee is more than the entire wallet balance, though you can always low ball it and wait a week or two.

When things build up I always consolidate in quiet moments.

Who knows what the future holds for fees.
1183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: so what to do with USDT ?! on: May 20, 2020, 09:56:29 AM
I don't know if there are banks accepting USDT directly maybe I miss to see the news about this since on our country we don't have an option to do that and we need to exchange our USDT to bitcoins and transfer it to our local wallet to convert it into fiat.

Maybe american citizens have that option or?

You are massively overestimating USDT's importance. No one outside of crypto has a clue what it is. No bank will know and if you explained it to a bank they'd look at you like you were fucking nuts.

'Look, there's this company, no one really knows who owns it or where it's based and they invented this token. It's worth a dollar but there's no way of proving that there are real dollars backing it and they've said themselves that sometimes it isn't.

The actual company who issues these tokens refuse to give their non whale customers dollars for one of these tokens. You have to find some other individual on an exchange willing to hand over real ones.

So, are you gonna let me deposit these or not?

I'm WAITING.'
1184  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best advice for Bitcoin ATH investors ?? on: May 20, 2020, 09:50:54 AM
The fact that they're still here and haven't sold with a loss shows they have some potential. Most people would be long gone with a loss of 75% or more.

I would simply stay put and wait as long as I didn't need the money. It took me three years to get back in the black after 2013 and once it did it all seemed like a bad memory as it left it firmly behind.

No one has any idea of if or when it'll return to that level but as long as it remains above ground there's a chance of it happening. Selling when interest is low doesn't really make sense and things are still quiet.
1185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who remembers this transaction ? on: May 20, 2020, 09:42:02 AM
Another question, is the transaction fee directly proportional to the amount of bitcoin you are sending? I just noticed that this tx is transferring a large sum of bitcoin and yet also had a large amount of fee.

You are paying for the amount of data you're moving. It's nothing to do with the amount. Data is added with every input you eventually send back out. Sending 500,000 BTC from one transaction will cost much less than 0.0001 BTC made up from several.
1186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isnt a problem if China has 68% of the hashrate? on: May 19, 2020, 10:16:36 AM
Since Chinese President Xi Jinping has publicly supported the blockchain, it can be expected that China’s share will become even bigger. It will be one of the ways to control technology in the absence of competitors from the United States.

'Blockchain' will allow them to squeeze their population harder than ever. That's what truly interests them about the technology.

China's leadership doesn't give the slightest shit about Bitcoin. They've done enough to turn off enough of the population.
1187  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-05-16] JK Rowling Asks About Bitcoin on: May 19, 2020, 08:48:11 AM
if she doesn't understand what bitcoin is how can she be a supporter of Etherium?

I think she's having a bit of fun at the expense of crypto pompousness. But I'll bet you there are people who 'support' ETH who don't know anything about BTC and probably understand nothing of ETH either. Possibly the majority.
1188  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 18, 2020, 07:19:33 PM
J.K. Rowling is starting to piss me off on Twitter now, begging for attention. Nobody cares if you don’t want to invest in bitcoin, we don’t need your worthless fiat to moon, silly old boomer cunt.

I know she never returned your Harry Potter lunch box, let alone signed it, but she's a busy woman. You're bigger than this.
1189  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-05-16] JK Rowling Asks About Bitcoin on: May 18, 2020, 03:08:02 PM
Hey, scientologists have all the answers. You can't beat somewhere that'll stop you being gay and gives you the meaning of life to boot.

Unlike Scientology you should leave the cult of bitcoin with more money than you arrived with, by the grace of Xenu of course.
1190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto a.k.a. Glenn M. Lilly (mathematician for the NSA) on: May 18, 2020, 11:31:04 AM
If I have to believe you then I will have to believe that government has created a Frankenstein that they are unable to control now. Bitcoin is essentially helping people to overlook the traditional economy and having control over their own finances.

Satoshi the entity still controls a vast amount of coins. I can well believe it was a state actor running a grand experiment and sending it out into the world to see what happens. It's no sillier an idea than one obsessive looking to overthrow The Man.
1191  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-05-16] JK Rowling Asks About Bitcoin on: May 18, 2020, 10:49:28 AM
I think we're set for a perpetual cycle of <insertcelebrityhere> taking a brief interest in Bitcoin and then getting overwhelmed by the responses and effectively being driven away.  It's like they're just getting slammed with a wall of information and it's too much to take in.  People need to take it down a notch.

They can't. They're too desperate for a pat on the head. The way for Bitcoin to give people like her an erection is when her own financial people advise it. That's the best and most viable route. In the meantime it's far better if the screeching kiddies keep their traps shut.
1192  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Selling on eBbay- What's the deal these days? on: May 18, 2020, 10:43:58 AM
Anyhow I wouldn't really feel like using ebay, why not incentivise people to use openbazaar?

Erm, how? I wouldn't sell for less than what something was worth. On an average day openbazaar probably has 50 weirdos on it. Ebay will have 50 million, not that I'd ever sell on there. The only place I'd do it is here.

A lot of coins appear to have moved through Ebay. I find it incomprehensible how anyone could risk it.
1193  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 17, 2020, 08:36:28 PM
That bloke's made some perfect calls in the past and I think he's been around since the single figure days. So I dunno why he needs to get house money involved. He's barking to do that.
1194  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-05-16] JK Rowling Asks About Bitcoin on: May 17, 2020, 05:19:49 PM
A fine demonstration of the utter ghastliness of crypto Twitter, but she comes over as something of a knobhead too.

It just goes to show the desperation to please and for acceptance that its fans have. I thought they might have outgrown it a bit. Tis an ugly and grasping look.
1195  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Great news sources about the crypto world. on: May 16, 2020, 05:11:08 PM
Jeebus that guy is the perfect example. Pretty much calls anyone who disagrees with his opinion a "retard". And not only that, he's pretty much low-key in the "Coronavirus is just like the flu" camp. Very unfortunate as his book "The Bitcoin Standard" is highly respected in the industry.

Yup. I started off giving him the benefit of the doubt. And then he kept pounding the same odious dreck relentlessly. Realising 'y'know what? I don't need to have my precious life juices used up by your worthless opinions' and giving him the boot forever was a liberating moment.
1196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cashing out tips & strategies on: May 16, 2020, 04:23:54 PM
I checked Binance exchange rate and it seems to be at 1.49% which is kind of steep (same as CB btw). I will do more research on the rates but so far Binance and Kraken look attractive. What about Bitstamp and Bitfinex? These two have been around for years so should be pretty reliable?

No way would I touch Bitfinex for fiat withdrawals. You'll never know what cocaine bank they're signed up with that week on some obscure island. I can only assume their big clients have their own banking arrangements and personal service.

Bitstamp is solid but if the amounts are large expect your funds to be held hostage and them to make outrageous demands like your entire tax history.
1197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cashing out tips & strategies on: May 16, 2020, 10:30:28 AM
Could someone suggest where it's possible to find such info for other exchanges?

https://support.gemini.com/hc/en-us/articles/205823016-Are-my-funds-insured-

https://www.itbit.com/exchange

And anywhere else with a proper dollar option should have money in proper dollar accounts which means it's insured too. I wouldn't be too sure of places that used third party payment processors like Kraken have for USD in the past. They might be in shitty far off lands.
1198  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 16, 2020, 10:06:04 AM
I did not want to mention it but, yes, what a lady  Roll Eyes

I've been told Friday night is drinking night for her so she was probably pissed out of her head throughout.
1199  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Great news sources about the crypto world. on: May 16, 2020, 09:50:39 AM
The number of people there that are heavily focused on transaction speed(and fees) while ignoring security and decentralization are mind boggling.

Aye. That's the essence of it boiled down right there.

It's like buying an airliner based on the peanuts they serve in flight rather than the engines and aerodynamics or whether it's a plastic kit a few inches long or a full sized real one.

I understand what you mean about drama queens, with the names of big people who have many followers and one of the CEOs of the relevant Bitcoin / crypto company. They just want to be talked about and known to many people. claim something without being able to prove and always spread FUD about its wrong predictions.  Shocked

Another beauty of Twitter is that if the person you're following slowly turns into a dickhead you can simply erase them. Saifedean Ammous started off alright and then turned into a boring twat shouting about meat all the time.
1200  Economy / Speculation / Re: The excitement is over, what's next? on: May 16, 2020, 09:31:03 AM
@gentlemand. What is the excitement?

It's the world of normal finance going bleedin' loopy in response to the world falling off a cliff. Money as we know it will be even more stunted and warped than it was before all of this kicked off. Who knows what tricks they'll pull out of their bag to keep the plates spinning.

That's going to have an effect on BTC one way or another.
