Due to increases in Nxt value, I ll be very serious about the quality of the bounty projects, be warned. If things stay at the same current level and participants do not improve their creations accordingly, I ll then divide the bounty prizes in several parts and will pay each round to one level of qualified submissions (making two or more rounds). This is especially true about the video production: at the moment 500K Nxt is about 30 BTC or $18000, therefore the video (which will stand as our official one) should be very professional, attractive and close to perfection!
PS: once more, I need an update from cunicula about the whitepaper..
What about deadlines? It was till 15.12., then till 20.12.2013. I stayed at home and worked on the video nonstop for another 12 hours so I could make it till the second last deadline. And have you got any comments, now - 2 days after the deadline? thanks Yes, I dont get it. You wanted a coindesk-format article, and I'm the only one who has delivered that. Heck, I was the only one to submit any original content before your original deadline. Now there will be a rush of people coming in here and raping all our articles' content and trying to throw something together in coindesk format (since Ive just highlighted this issue) to make one of their own; the press release you paid for used some of my content, which actually did make me feel pretty good though, so I dont understand what it is you don't like about my article. Some people's stuff you give critiques, others nothing.

i was having all kinds of issues till i hallmarked my node, and just picked a node with a dns name as a single wellknown host. then used a nearly 24hr old blockchainfiles backup, my client then caught up all recent blocks and am on 22588 now. maybe a coincidence though

|
|
is there a good list of wellknownpeers to use? If I get that list, and use the latest nxtfiles.zip, will I get up to date on the blockchain?

i believe that link points to 0.4.2 now. CfB reuses the same link for his downloads

why can I not get to that block? stuck on 22486. I have TCP7874 forwarded to my PC, 50+ active peers (and climbing). The timestap on that block is about 2 hrs old, and i dont see a "you can generate" timer at all

this file doesnt have all .nxt files. should we delete all our curren .nxt files in our existing nxt folder before copying the 3 files in this new nxtfiles.zip file to our existing nxt folder? Overwriting does the same thing as first deleting these 3 files and copying new ones. Ergo - just overwrite. You don't actually need these 3 files from "nxtfiles.zip". You need the client (0.4.2) from the first page. false statement - if you just copy those new files, the old ones that dont have updates stay where they are. I remember in the past that CfB would tell us to not do this - to keep all .nxt files synced when you write them. But he didnt give any guidance here one deleting the old ones am I on ann invalid chains? my last block I see is 22425 at 11712% and Im forging quite a few blocks in a shorrt period of time Did you even read fully what I said? If you copy the new files where there are none (because you deleted them, you will have the new files). I said the same thing as you did, rephrased. If you overwrite over the old one with the same name.ext, you will have the new file. no you didnt fully read my question should I delete the existing files that do not have updates in the new .nxtfiles.zip file? if we dont delete them then we end up running older version of some .nxt files with newer version of some of the other .nxt files. This was a nono in the past, but we werent given any direction of deleting anything. Its just odd that there are only 3 files in that nxtfiles.zip

Thx guys.
Change some settings in ur web.xml.
Put hosts listed in lastBlockchainFeed about into "wellKnownPeers". Set other parameters to:
connectTimeout = 2000 readTimeout = 2000 pushThreshold = 1 pullThreshold = 1
ok, trying, terminal is freezing... where is lastBlockchainFeed? not in web.xml... Put values of lastBlockchainFeeder reported above into wellKnownPeers. im stilll stuck on this... where do we get lastBlockchainFeed value from? And do we ADD the data into wellknownpeers or do we replace what is currently in wellknownpeers with this data? And how can we tell which blockchain is longest, and which one our client is on?

don't leave me on 22277 {"lastBlock":"8929486823610784344","numberOfAliases":14560,"numberOfBlocks":22278,"lastBlockchainFeeder":"198.199.77.141","totalMemory":198705152,"freeMemory":121657360,"maxMemory":878182400,"numberOfTransactions":23439,"numberOfUsers":0,"version":"0.4.2","numberOfOrders":0,"time":2444912,"availableProcessors":2,"numberOfAssets":0,"numberOfAccounts":2771} we should not assume the block explorer is always on the longest chain, should we?

One quick question: How is the client supposed to know when I can and cannot generate blocks? E.g., You can generate the next block in "9 hours 16 minutes 15 seconds".
Isn't that supposed to be a random distribution, with the fraction of my stake vs the overall coin count times average minutes per block?
P.S.: Last block 22269, looking healthy from here.
thanks anonyous donor! now hopefully we'll see if that ransaction is in the resulting winning chain...

if any stakeholder wants to run a VPS, I will do the legwork for FOR FREE assuming you pay for the VPS. if it helps the network ill do the hard part for FREE
come on big stakeholders....

So the official Block Explorer is now officially off the chain, right? lols
|
|

this .zip file doesnt contain all .nxt files like it usually does. is it ok if a brand new client with no blockchain and no existing .nxt files just loads these files from this .zip file and starts up? will it be fine?

so was that our first major fork? what caused it?
|

Am trying to test this but the "Recent Blocks" never changes (now at 22260 after using your files) - am I missing some setting (the Active Peers does change)? didnt work for me either, I had to go to a backup from almst 24hr old, and now appear to be on the non-forked chain ETA: I see the blockexplorer has 22261 but my client has 22281 - I guess im on te correct chain? Was this our first major fork?
