so is QRK a direct competitor to the securecoin, released Aug? They advertise some 6 hashing dealio like quark does. I dont see them listed on coinmarketcap though. Their price on cryptsy seems to be orders of magnitude greater though
ETA: seems to be from the creator of digitalcoin, released in May, nowhere near market cap of quark

Thanks for any help here.
Im 100% new to any kind of commodities/currencies exchanging. My question is regarding the buy and sell windows of any Cryptsy market, say LTC/BTC.
So on the LTC/BTC Market webpage, there are a few windows: buy, sell, and last 20. Assuming I want to buy, Why cant I click on an open sell order that I see in the SELL section, and complete the trade? It seems like I have to create a brand new order, not necessarily associated with any existing open order.
And does both the seller and buyer end up paying fees?

cool man thanks for the info. also, how does the buying/selling open orders matching work?
I mean, I can see the list of last 200 orders in the market trade history window. Then there are the 2 buy and sell windows above that. I assume those are open orders? If so, how do I accept a particular open order? If I click on one then it just populates info in the window above that one.
So then am I to assume there is some kind of computer that matches up orders?
Is the seller the only one to pay fees?

What happened with new quark forum?
its sucky, but i think it has to do with the political issues thread we saw a few days ago. apparently there is some kind of power struggle in progress.

What has become of the blockchain explorer? I have not been able to access for atleast 6 hours. Is it being updated or has there been a url change?
I imagine that IP was getting HAMMERED by all our requests. Would it be possible to build the common gateway into the .zip that is distributed out, that way if we can be our own block explorer (assuming the client is up to date on all blocks)

regarding mining, wjat does it mean "you can generate the next block in X TIME"? I thought we only mine for transactions, so:
1) a transaction could come at any time 2) how is it decided who gets a transaction fee?`

This is very nice. Elegance and the base symbol is unique and easy to write manually

Altcoins serve no useful purpose.
You will eat humble pie too. They only distract people from the real battle being waged -- Bitcoin versus Big Brother.
Bitcoin is helping Big Brother. You are very ignorant. can you explain that last sentence?

No offense but that logo has no appeal to your average investor scrolling through the long list of "coins". Too much going on and too bland, just my 2 Quarks.
well thats kind of what I mean. the orbits were too busy (too much going on) and it did need more of an elegant look (too bland). But I like the idea of the symbol we could utilize. Actually the more I think about it the less I question it, for this reason: To write the symbol by hand it will look too much like a 0 or a O. Worse yet, its would be the same as an upside down "power on" symbol. The graphic itself is good as a symbol, IMO, since its got a wide border, but that will be rough to replicate by hand. Regardless though, I like the idea of a symbol, not on an extruded looking coin like all the others, to represent the quark. Sure, the symbol itself could be extruded graphically if so desired, though of course when written manually itd only have a 2D effect. ETA: lols and those 2 quark you gave us is not quite worth 1cent ATM. Maybe tomorrow? Hope so.. EETTAA: and is quark both the singular AND plural form? I like it that way, personally

I decided to keep it just as Quark rather than QuarkCoin, kinda like Visa to Mastercard. I can do a physical coin (am thinking a simple white plastic token with the QRK logo somewhat similar to the coin) but that'll take a little bit of time. I can do the accepted here horizontal rather than vertical, but figured I'd do something different edit : neatened up pic This one is best by far. And I mean FAR; dont mean to be rude, but the others are crap. What this one has going for it is this.. a symbol. That Q with the vertical squiggly can easily serve utility as the symbol for this currency. Like $ is for the dollar. And another thing. Stop Calling It A COIN Another way to differentiate. Its not a coin. None of these other things are really coins either. OK So were not the first to do this (cryptogenic bullion, bitbar, bytebar, etc) but we can even move away from that. The term 'quark' brings to mind particles of the universe. hmm... universe. universal. A universal currency. OK bingo now we're on to something. From now on. just quark. drop the 'coin'. Im sold on the market performance. But still dont see what this cryptocurrency brings to the table. "Secure" hashing? Are all the others somehow LESS secure? If most of the coins are in the hands of a small few, better start pumping them out slowly so as to distribute it out, if you want it to go big, and eventually be in use to buy things other than just traded back and forth like litecoin. Just not gambling shit. PLEASE GOD NOT THAT. Thats when you your coin has no future, if you primarily use it for gaming. ETA except for the orbiting stuff. Your to a good start with that Q but the squigglies are too busy. something more elegant yet simple maybe EETTAA that Q with the vertical line isnt used for anything else is it?
