4221  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Free Mining Stats iPhone App on: July 03, 2011, 08:14:00 PM
If you are on verizon iPhone, 4.3 is not yet available. I will fix that in the next revision so older phones can also use this app.

1bitc0inplz I'll send you a pm

Awesome, I'll keep an eye on this thread. Thanks!
4222  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Has anyone tried 9mart's pcie extender cables? on: July 03, 2011, 08:12:08 PM
Do you understand what the difference is between these cables?
$20

Take a closer look...  Then read about power draw from the motherboard...

You see that 4-pin molex/power connector by any chance with cablesarus product?  What do you think it's for?
I was't talking about that one. The one with the Molex connector is $25 while the standard one is 12. 9marts is $4.50.
I was going to solder on my own molex connectors and BAM $20 for 5 mins of work.

In that case, I think you can answer your own question.  Give it a try and let us know how it works.
I suspect it will work just fine Smiley
4223  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: new plastic burn in smell gets you high? on: July 03, 2011, 10:00:44 AM
Dude, I am in this workshop with all the windows duct taped around the air conditioners and I just put together like 8 mining rigs going full bore, and I swear... this smell.  I think it might be getting me a little high, starting to think it is going to be bad for me.  Is being in the same room with this new plastic going to hurt me?

Yes
4224  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Free Mining Stats iPhone App on: July 03, 2011, 07:14:59 AM
when I try to install it, it's telling me this application requires the iPhone 4.3 Software Update.
but iTunes tells me 4.2.8 is the current version.  weird.

These are a lot cheaper than cablesarus. His cables almost add 25% more to the cost of the card lol

4226  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: MSI Afterburner "Unofficial Overclocking" GUIDE on: July 03, 2011, 06:22:47 AM
I added a 6850 card to 2 6990s and now when i try to run msi afterburner i get "failed to initialize display driver wrapper"

Any idea what might cause this?

I posted this originally at: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=25151

Had some good suggestions, but still have this issue.

Should I give it up or is there some hope?
4227  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: failed to initialize display driver wrapper on: July 03, 2011, 06:06:16 AM
My afterburner is working on Windows 7 with 4 cards and i had the same problem after installing drivers. Now everything works fine.

What i suggesto you both to do is:

* Uninstall ATI drivers from the control panel.

* Uninstall MSI Afterburner and any APP Profile you have

* Reboot in safe mode, use Driver Sweeper top remove all traces of ATI drivers.

* Reboot and Install Catalyst 11.7 (seems like no dummy plugs are required anymore). Homepage, Direct Link

* Reboot,  Install AFterburner 2.2.0 Beta 4

You are done.

Thanks for your suggestion.  I've tried this, but afterburner still gives me the same error message...
4228  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: failed to initialize display driver wrapper on: July 03, 2011, 06:05:28 AM
I think it has to do with drivers... One of the cards you are using is a dual core card right? So Windows is seeing 4 GPUs. I have had afterburner work fine with 3 GPU but the second you add the 4th in, you get the 'failed to init...."

I have asked around (http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=21352.0). Even put a 2BTC bounty on who could fix afterburner to work with 4 GPU and nobody was able to point me in the right direction. There were a lot of suggestions, but none proved to fix the problem.

2 6990 and 1 6850
with 11.6 drivers the GPU limit is higher than 4 in Win.
I've loaded 11.7 drivers already.

To all fellow miners:

Take a look at this post http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=23067.0 I've implemented it and have gotten a substantial boost to my MHash/sec.

You all might want to consider this.

4230  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (2000GHash/s) on: July 02, 2011, 04:07:05 AM
Found my first block for the pool Smiley

I found one too in the last day or two Smiley took about 2 weeks I think?

Sapph. Trixx crashes... another bummer... WTF?
4232  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: failed to initialize display driver wrapper on: July 01, 2011, 11:27:33 PM
You're probably right that MSI Afterburner won't work this way... Bummer...

What other tools are there to use to overclock besides MSI Afterburner?

I don't care if I have to set each card individually...

4235  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: i let this in here on: July 01, 2011, 07:45:37 PM
oh shit... 5830s are back in stock @ newegg.
snatched 2 Smiley
4236  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Newegg 5830 on: July 01, 2011, 07:41:37 PM
There was just 30 in stock 20 minutes ago or so.
went out of stock about 5 mins ago.

it was amusing to watch inventory go in and out of stock for a 10 minute duration... I was able to snatch 2 of them...
4237  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Never miss that inventory again!!! on: July 01, 2011, 07:31:27 PM
I can't see that this software would be helpful in the least.  It can't see where NewEgg shows you "OUT OF STOCK" on a particular page because that's generated by JavaScript which it apparently can't parse.  For a good example, pick an out of stock product, add it, then go into the filter wizard and look at the preview.  That's how the program sees the web page, and you won't see the words "OUT OF STOCK" in there, as you would in an actual browser.

So how exactly does this help you?  Does it update the change time by some other criteria?  And what if NewEgg decides to show you a different (or new) product review when the program refreshes the page, does that not constitute a change which would trigger an email notification?

Edit: I see in the "check" tab that you can make it emulate Internet Explorer - maybe you left that part out?

I figured folks would be able to figure that out.  You can see what the software "sees" in a window.  and yes, use the i.e option with javascript support.
Works great.

Also, keep in mind that newegg is not the only place to monitor.  you should add as many links as you can at different sellers.
4238  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Sapphire 6990s In Stock - SuperBiiz (Limit 1 per customer) on: July 01, 2011, 07:19:56 PM
Lots of the HD 6990 on ebay but at a higher price.

There are about 19 listings (one is for a used).  Some listing are for 2 cards.  So there are about 20-30 of them available on eBay... Not a whole lot...
They are selling at $1,050 -$1,100 on average...

I added a 6850 card to 2 6990s and now when i try to run msi afterburner i get "failed to initialize display driver wrapper"

Any ideas?  I tried searching forums for the error, could not find anything.

I already tried reinstalling 2.4 and 11.6 without success...

all cards are detected and are mining using whatever the defaults are.
4240  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: number of GPUs on linux with 11.6? on: June 30, 2011, 11:34:15 PM
It's not a good answer but I can confirm 11.6 raises the Windows limit to 8 GPUs so if they made a move on both platforms it's logical they raised the Linux limit. I confirmed it with AMD directly and I currently have 7 in a rig and it recognizes them and I can use them. I do need to dummy plug them still and that is a pain, hoping AMD comes back with something on that as well.

How's it going with AMD and the dummy plug issue?
