that's the "typical" expectation of a typical product line... but look at what happened with 5xxx series vs. 6xxx a bunch of 5xxx are worth more used than what they sold new for.
it really depends on how they price 7xxx it may not be economical if it costs too much. but this is all speculation and kinda pointless to talk/guess about it... we'll just have to see what happens when they are out.
I'm sure that initially a used 5xxx series card was worth less. I feel like there will be a small window where you'll be able to pick up 6xxx cards for cheap before they go to 5xxx series prices. Hope you're right!

assuming 7xxx will be cheaper... has there been any pricing info on 7xxx?
huh? I'm saying 7xxx will make the 6xxx series less valuable. If I'm correct I hope to see the 6870 for example drop about 10%. that's the "typical" expectation of a typical product line... but look at what happened with 5xxx series vs. 6xxx a bunch of 5xxx are worth more used than what they sold new for. it really depends on how they price 7xxx it may not be economical if it costs too much. but this is all speculation and kinda pointless to talk/guess about it... we'll just have to see what happens when they are out.

Something doesn't add up correctly for me. I hadn't used deepbit in a very long time (2 months ), and now submitted a few shares. From the stats page, I can tell that I should've earned 0.01558598BTC total (I stopped mining more than 1 hour ago). However, my current balance shows as 0.01234512 BTC, even though I had a sub-0.01BTC amount left in there from 2 months ago. I wonder where the remaining 0.003BTC+ has gone? pool fee

It's probably a hardware timing limitation.
i'm not sure. it has been mentioned that if you flash the bios and you run under linux, the settings work. under windows the drivers can not load and cause a reboot loop or the always friendly bsod. it would be great if we could have this confirmed or dispelled. if it's true under linux, i'd switch for temp and power savings. otherwise i wouldn't bother.

do a completed items search on ebay... I believe they have been selling for ~$800ish in good condition.
WTF are you talking about? 7xxx are not out yet. or am i living under a rock?

I think the pool hoppers are back. My payout variance has been too high lately. I think that some hoppers are there and I'm working on some special routines, related to this problem. But this should NOT affect your variance, it will only affect total pool's luck. As you may see, it's still good at this moment. Tycho, How do we know that your anti-hopping measures do not effect us regular miners?

whats the better option $/Hash other than 58xx series?
Until 7xxx series is out in full force the 6xxx series will be way to expensive for mining. assuming 7xxx will be cheaper... has there been any pricing info on 7xxx?

Any luck? Also as a side question to anyone does a 6870 reference card perform better then 300 megahash?
Nope... contacted Powercolor, this was their reply: "This is restricted by AMD, we can not make memory speed run too low. Maybe you can try MSI Afterburner to see if it can do this." followed up regarding MSI AB, pointing out that that's not an issue. restated the lowering memory limitation by 100 only... waiting for another response. also contacted AMD, haven't heard back from them yet. Really was hoping someone here would be interested in working together on this, but maybe there aren't too many 6870s in use by miners.

anyone having abnormal payouts? mine seem much lower than they should be based on my hashing rate...
|
|
|
to put in simple terms... if money isnt an issue then get 7 and a good mobo and like 4 PSUs and mine away... if it is, then get some 5870s or 5850s... 6950s are also a viable option
6950's are only halfway decent if you can unlock the shaders otherwise you shouldn't buy a 6950. whats the better option $/Hash other than 58xx series? the better option is not to mine. buy bitcoins instead.

I'm amazed. Looking at these threads I can tell you who is really rubbing their hands about bitcoin... XFX, Sapphire and ATI. Suddenly all their old 5xxx series GPUs are flying off the shelves! not really. it's hardly noticeable. there are plenty of posts with math on this issue.

Am I to understand that hopper are contributing to variance somehow?
|
|

tigerdirect has it just a while ago, going to have it again soon
just on and off only, probably on the average of once per month i think, just gotta check often
What the XFX one? that's total BS... they did not have them in stock. all back-ordered...

final step, use Task manager to create a task that runs every 30 mins and tell the task manager to execute resetphoenix.bat
Think he meant "Task scheduler" Yeah! thanks, edited.

run your miners via a command line (i.e. create a batch file) using phoenix.exe or another one... create a batch file, say start1.bat: :start cd C:\Temp\guiminer\ RunFirst.exe "phoenix.exe -u http://username@api.bitcoin.cz:8332 PLATFORM=0 DEVICE=0 VECTORS BFI_INT WORKSIZE=256 FASTLOOP=false AGGRESSION=12 -k phatk" goto start replace above paths/parameters with what you need. If you have more that one core proccessor, download that runfirst.exe to have your miners run on 1 core only, otherwise take it out of the batch file. create a batch file resetphoenix.bat: Taskkill /IM phoenix.exe /F final step, use Task Scheduler to create a task that runs every 30 mins and tell the task scheduler to execute resetphoenix.bat

you want all that? become a coal miner. forget bitcoin

|

the name says it all...
devil's technology

sounds like it's crashing the miner.
run your mining from command prompt using verbose mode and you'll see what's up.
I recommend phoenix 1.5, it will output all info you need.
I do use aolblahblah for overcklocking only...

I sure hope that by now ALL 5830 inventories have dried up.
it's about frikin' time they stop selling these mysteriously turning up inventories of brand spanking new 5830s.
Be gone! be very gone 5830!!!
