1142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Citibank's Steven Englander Proposes Centralised, Identity-Linked "Bitcoin" on: December 31, 2013, 05:41:00 PM
Another banker is saying silly things about Bitcoin. Roll Eyes I wrote an article about it over on CCN. Basically, he thinks centralising and de-anonymising Bitcoin will improve security (somehow?), and that most users will be happy with that. Oh, and Bitcoin should be integrated within existing fiat and payment structures because... well, bankers dislike competition I guess.

I'm sure someday a banker will present a decent argument against Bitcoin, but today is not that day.

He just doesn't get it does he? Fucking bankers.
1143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if ISPs start blocking cryptocurrency data? on: December 31, 2013, 05:36:24 PM
besides it won't ever happen.  that would mean we're living in a totalitarian dictatorship..

Some may argue we already are.
1144  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: eBay prices out of whack with reality? on: December 31, 2013, 05:27:10 PM

Go look at gold scrap or something, you'll see listings ending at slightly above spot for .999 fine based on estimated recovery yield from a bag of old SIMMs or something that you have to pay shipping on yet.

What are SIMMs?

1147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NSA can rob peoples BTC wallet in new devices such as the iphone on: December 31, 2013, 03:15:25 PM
the NSA are not that special. so will people stop FUDDing the forums with government conspiracies.

if you want some bitcoin related evidence that NSA are hopeless. look at the DPR news. the NSA had to send DPR's wallet over to the UK's intelligence office to brute force the password. the NSA cant crack encryption, nor do they have the computer power or skill to bruteforce.

Really? You got a link to this?

Here's the deal, there are websites that pay the current value in cash/gift cards for bitcoins. The bitcoin exchange rate is falling lately($7.1 USD to $5.5). What do you think is the best option is?:
1.Cash out now
2.Hope exchange rate rises
I'm going with option 2, as prices have been fluctuating A LOT lately?
Just opinions here. Smiley

Oh man. This is why I won't be cashing out any time soon. I'm excited for the future. Hopefully we don't hold on for too long and lose out lol.
1152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are we still in the early adopter stage of Bitcoin? on: December 30, 2013, 10:12:44 PM
Yes, we are still the early adopters, especially if BTC becomes worth several thousands or even tens of thousands.

What? We are early adopters yes, but it has nothing to do with the prize of bitcoin

I think it does. If Bitcoin price skyrockets then anyone who owns btc will be known as early adopters still.
1153  Other / Off-topic / Re: 3D printing is overrated? on: December 30, 2013, 05:23:45 PM
I once read an article int he Economist about how they can use 3d printers to create new kinds of animals, like clone dogs, make new organs for cats, etc.  Then I found out it was an April Fools joke.  But the funny thing is I was amazed and thought it was possible

Hahaha, that's hilarious. I'm sure at some point in the future bio-printing will be possible. Maybe they can build new muscles and organs etc.

What do you mean by democratic ruler?

Oh God! How many times I have to tell? As far as I am concerned Saddam was a dictator. But for the Americans (i.e until 1980s) he was a democratically elected leader, or so the media told us.  Grin

Yeah, well I don't think the media know or understand the definition of a dictator or a tyrant.

I think they do, they just selectively apply it.
1155  Other / Off-topic / Re: Had Very Disturbing Virtual Reality Dreams Last Night on: December 30, 2013, 05:05:45 PM
Havent remembered a dream in years, it's like a new coma every night for me.

Hopefully my brain still fires the odd dream out!

You never remember dreams? I forget them quite quickly if I don't right them down or tell people about them haha.
1156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if ISPs start blocking cryptocurrency data? on: December 30, 2013, 04:50:38 PM
Not gonna happen. They gonna ban computers and the internet next?
1157  Other / Off-topic / Re: Schumacher on: December 30, 2013, 04:16:03 PM
It's definitely a terrible injury and my thoughts are with him and his family. I'm really hoping for the best!

Thank God he was wearing a helmet, too.

If he's going to be braindamaged or a veg for the rest of his life it hasn't done much good, but hopefully he can make a recovery.
1158  Other / Off-topic / Re: 3D printing is overrated? on: December 30, 2013, 04:02:13 PM
I would be interested in hearing some stories from some members here about what they have used the 3d printer for and how beneficial is it to have one.

I would be interested in hearing the stories as well.

3D printing is useful when it has benefits. But seriously, I have not seen an object created by 3D printing which has tremendous benefit.

I think people said the same things, but about the internet an Bitcoin.
