41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum will Boom ! on: May 18, 2019, 07:22:14 AM
So yes ChainLink is launching soon, but will their lauch affect ethereum in a huge way? No I dont think so. So many projects are launching on the ETH network these days, one of them won't make a huge difference. Eth is looking strong on the wings of the BTC bull run at the moment, regardless of the ChainLink or any other particular coin. And ChainLink promises to make a small revolution in the smart contract world, I'll be monitoring them to see what they will do.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Still mining burst? on: May 17, 2019, 07:50:59 AM
I remember considering to mine burst some time ago. As I can recall, it didn't look profitable and there were other difficulties involved, so I gave up. Too bad, it would have been cool to try HD mining. There is a burst calculator I used to consult at the time. You can find it on this URL: https://burstcoincalculator.com/ It's the best that you do the math for yourself, but it still  doesn't look profitable to me.
43  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New a hot wallet. on: May 17, 2019, 06:52:18 AM
OK, you need a web wallet. We now know a little bit more about what you need. The next question is what kind of wallet do you need? What coins should it keep? Because there are different wallets for different coins, and even wallets that keep several coins at the same time. If it is bitcoin wallet you seek, try bitgo: https://www.bitgo.com/ But I would strongly suggest that you install your own lightweight wallet, like electrum. If you are going to put large amount of money don't use  a web wallet.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin and XRP Lists on Germany's 2nd biggest Stock Exchange Börse Stuttgart on: May 16, 2019, 02:15:52 PM
So they are starting with bitcoin and ethereum. And further, they will add altcoin as well.
Thanks for your reply. Just like I thought, bitcoin and ethereum had to be included even before all the other coins. It would hardly make any sense to start off with litecoin and ripple. I would still have to find a crypto platform without BTC being the main currency.
45  Economy / Exchanges / Re: WTF-BITTREX DISABLED MY ACCOUNT!!! on: May 16, 2019, 06:27:59 AM
I'm not disabled, but I don't keep any funds there. I have seen so many times people lose their money on various exchanges for this and that reason. So, no not on Bittrex not on any other exchange. I won't leave any money there I am not willing to lose. Stay safe people, and yes this forcing of enhanced verification is a lame move from Bittrex. DEX's where are you? We need you now more than ever.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin and XRP Lists on Germany's 2nd biggest Stock Exchange Börse Stuttgart on: May 16, 2019, 06:19:36 AM
Thanks for this. Great news about LTC and XRP. I know that there are ETF from before, but I didn't know exchange traded notes exist. I would have to keep an eye to ETNs too. What other cryptos are available on the Börse Stuttgart stock exchange? I suppose bitcoin, and etereum but are there any others? Or is it just the two you mentioned. If there are no others, why not starting with bitcoin?
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Proof-of-StakeWork for miners! on: May 15, 2019, 01:09:21 PM
This is the first time I have heard about this concept that tries to merge Pow and Pos. Let me clear some things up. You say that miners have a choice to cash out the mining reward or to reinvest it by stacking it. Are only the miners allowed to stake? Or every other network participant can stake even if not being a miner?
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Arguments against XRP, the biggest shitcoin. on: May 15, 2019, 12:15:14 PM
There is no real long term future in Ripple. Some people are using it just to make some money by speculation. I have seen many newbies using holding it. It could be that it appeals to them that it is connected to the banking system. Banks probably instill confidence in newbies. The other advantage newbies may see in Ripple is its low nominal value, so they think they can amass a lot of XRP hoping for a 10 times gains. I have never had any XRP, never will.
49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: One of the largest banks in France issues a token on Ethereum blockchain on: May 05, 2019, 08:03:28 PM
This news needs clarification: The point is that the Societe Generale (French bank) bank issued just one bond to itself. No other investors but the bank:
Quote
However, according to a report published Tuesday by bond rating agency Moody’s Investors Service, Societe Generale was “the sole investor,” meaning the firm issued the securities to itself and no outside buyers were involved.

50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Watch me live attempting to build a crypto futures exchange on: May 05, 2019, 02:04:26 PM
yes, I really believe it's possible to build that kind of exchange in a short period of time and in the last two days (8+8 hours) I've already made huge progress. But the footage is not meant to be an easily consumable product, it's a raw footage to see how much time it would take. Later I will probably chunk it up and make it a course, so feel free to come then.
What kind of software, programming tools, or programming languages you are going to use? I might be interested to watch or follow if your tools/languages are compatible with my knowledge or interests. I'm especially interested to learn some node/js/angular website programming.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Radeon VII temperature on: May 05, 2019, 12:04:22 PM
I don't think a junction temperature of 90 degrees C is a problem though. The core temperature should be much lower, but the junction temperature should be below 100 or 110, which you already have. If you still wanna get it lower, you could always undervolt, but I think it is not that hot for a junction temperature.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: - Is Facebook's new cryptocurrency safe? on: May 05, 2019, 07:28:15 AM
No, they are just considering to create their own crypto, which in the long run will be worthless if you ask me. In the short run you may get some profits, but basically it will be just like stocks of a company that you invest in. So, no it wont be safe like bitcoin is safe. Because bitcoin is decentralized and its fate isn't determined by any individual or company no matter how strong they may currently look. Facebook coin will be entirely dependent on the fate of the company. Remember MySpace? Today it is strong, tomorrow may disappear.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The beginning of the bullish trend in the crypto market on: May 04, 2019, 07:55:12 PM
I think there is some truth in that breaching the levels between 6K and 7K would signify the start of a new long-lasting uptrend. There are strong resistant levels above 6K, and if they get broken, anything is possible. With the last pull up that we have seen in the last couple of days, I think we are closer to reaching these levels. As to whether or not we will see a capitalization beyond 1 trillion, that's another story. It could very well be, but the time scale could be longer than 2 or 3 years. Or we can be surprised by another strong bullish run, but for that, some heavy financial players have to enter the crypto market.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VEIL : PRIVACY AT ITS BEST? on: May 04, 2019, 12:46:46 PM
IMO, Veil is one of the most promising crypto-projects currently. The reason I say that is mainly based on vetting the developers team. Some of the main developers are already well versed in how privacy coins function, having worked with Pivx and similar coins in the past. They are in a good position to improve on the current ones. Monero is currently a leading privacy coin, but the big disadvantage of Monero is the bloated blockchain and the large size of each transaction. There is room to improve the privacy features as well, and hopefully Veil could do a good job in this area. Some possibly downsides to Veil are for example, the coin distribution rate, which is too fast for my taste (something like 50 million coins will be issued during the first year only). But that is my personal objection.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Do you guys use the new feature OC scanner from MSiafterburner for mining? on: May 04, 2019, 11:42:35 AM
I don't use it myself, but I have seen a lot of people complaining about not getting the desired speed up or not getting it to work in the first place. From what I can see, there are several versions of MSI AFterburner with or without support for the different nVidia GPU series (pascal vs the newer ones). According to this reddit page you have to have the latest version and the right drivers.
56  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Central Banks in the Age of Blockchains on: May 03, 2019, 02:07:02 PM
Yep, the central banks, the IMF included, won't survive if cryptocurrencies, in their original form and idea spread around the world. So they have to do something now, while it is still not so dangerous. And first thing to do is to learn about the technology behind. Learn about your enemy so that you can defeat it. Other than that I see no purpose to their centralized Learning Coin. On second thought if they want to learn, what's keeping them to buy some bitcoins and join this forum. Best way by far.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SIA COIN CLASSIC B52 on: May 03, 2019, 11:24:02 AM
It can't be so difficult to set the things up. As already mentioned, you have to download the SiaClassic wallet from the Sia Classic website. You have a choice, depending on your OS. You can choose the GUI wallet for Windows, Mac or Linux. This is a straightforward installation, nothing too complicated to think about. Once you install the wallet and start it up, you can get your receiving address to plug it in your mining software.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Key is Utility for Adoption on: May 03, 2019, 11:14:40 AM
I generally agree with the point David is trying to make, and it would be nice to see bitcoin being used for payments everywhere, especially online payments. But, if bitcoin is destined to be similar to gold in the digital space, we can't expect too much utility. It will be primarily a store of value and not a means of payments, at least not micro payments. This entire situation might change, though, when the lightning network is up and functional in full capacity. Then we might see utility and bitcoin being used for small payments.
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NEO vs. Ontology...own one, both, or neither? on: May 03, 2019, 06:41:38 AM
I am not smart enough to give you a proper advice regarding NEO vs Ontology.
But:
In 2017 I bought 100 NEO at $20, and road it all the way up to $200.  I was obsessed with the project and thought De Hongfei was the next VItalik.  Well, than the crash came and saw my 2000% gains turn...gasp...to a loss.
I have just one thing to say: I have made the same mistakes in the past. That is, not taking some profit at some point. Say at 5x increase in price, sell 50% of your investment, and let the other 50% go as high as they can. No matter how good the fundamentals are, no matter how great the project is, one should implement this or a similar strategy to safeguard against sudden price drops.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase now supports Dogecoin on: May 02, 2019, 06:05:06 PM
Dogecoin is still a great tipping coin. There are many websites and social networs that has enabled dogecoin as the primary tipping coin.
I was going to ask what was the use case of Dogecoin, but your answer makes a lot of sense. It is kind of cool having a coin that would be used for tipping. Nevertheless, the Coinbase announcement comes as a huge surprise to me. I would have never guessed it. Not that I have something principally against this coin.
