441  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Coinbase Wins Patent to Secure Bitcoin Payment System on: August 18, 2018, 02:26:54 PM
I gave my best to understand what the heck they are talking about. Two master keys to sign transactions, API keys, ... All in all, I have no idea how they are gonna improve security for their customers, so I'll take their word for it. The other portals I checked also report more or less the same news, so it remains to be see how it all goes.

At the end of the day, I guess, it all revolves around the announced Facebook acquisition of Coinbase.

Any Good project suggestions will be helpful.
People keep asking this question, but everyone has his own preference. Hence, I think it is impossible to give a good advice.

If you ask me what I hold, I hold the only coin that I believe in and understand the best, which is BTC.
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin claimers who wanted to replace BTC or ETH on: August 18, 2018, 01:49:30 PM
All those altcoins always claiming that they will replace either BTC or ETH where in fact, they simply following its footsteps but only limiting or avoiding the same mistake happened to ETH or BTC.
I think one should be very careful putting BTC and ETH in the same basket. In my opinion BTC is many miles ahead of ETH.

By the end of the day, they are only copycats and the original will still remain on the front line.
That is exactly the point. All alts are copycats, more or less. It costs nothing to copy the code because it is open source. It costs very much to build a strong decentralized network. In the network lies the power.

~snip~
Yes, the OP has to give us more, the picture is not enough. I just see your Fibonacci drawn and beneath your RSI, but I don't see:

at what point did you sell
why you decided to do so
why did you choose BTC/NANO
what was the profit, and so on

It would be useful for anyone to see how you made the trade.
445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cardano will destroy Ethereum! on: August 18, 2018, 01:20:40 PM
The only real advantage of Ethereum over Cardano is the early start of the ETH network. I think this advantage will slowly dwindle especially if Cardano continues to develop and improve its platform. Cardano has just entered the next phase of development -- code name Shelley. The 2 main objectives of Shelley are better decentralization and high degree of autonomous operation. Being the perfectionist that they are, I have no doubt the Cardano team will do a great job to achieve these objectives.
446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Gold have a future? on: August 17, 2018, 08:37:13 PM
I didn't know they have already made their coin ASIC resistant which I think is a very good decision. As someone who used to mine BTG a short period of time in the past, I welcome this move. On the other side, being a bitcoin fork it's hard to predict anything about this coin's future. It needs something to stand out from the rest of altcoins to have a future. I see from their roadmap that they plan to introduce Schnorr Signatures, and improve privacy. All good moves in my opinion.
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which of the altcoins is most profitable to mine? on: August 17, 2018, 05:37:38 PM
If you ask in general, I would say mining is not profitable, especially the last couple of months. Last year you could make some profit with a higher end graphic card but this year not so much. I think CPU mining is not worth it at all. You have to purchase a GPU rig or specialized mining hardware to be able to extract some profit. What coin to mine is a question to be asked after you decide what type of mining you want to do: single GPU (nvidia or amd), GPU rig, or specialized ASIC hardware.
448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: To survive the bear market I am chainging my strategy on: August 17, 2018, 05:25:06 PM
Sounds like a good plan. I can't imagine being involved full time in crypto. For me this is still a side gig. I'm curious, what trading pairs do you use to day trade and do you use any particular indicators? I don't know if it is possible to make profit all the time, day in day out but I wish you good luck.
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: South Korea's investment in blockchain has doubled on: August 16, 2018, 12:17:36 PM
Please provide some Link for us to check that article or news instantly.

Here is a link on the subject:

https://cryptovest.com/news/south-korea-includes-blockchain-in-44-billion-innovative-growth-plan/

but I don't know if that was the OP's source.

As can be seen, developing blockchain applications is one of 8 types of projects they will be spending the 4.4 billion US dollars on. The good news is, the have doubled the sum for blockchain projects:

Quote
The sum planned for 2019 is by 150% higher compared to the funding this year. The sum for blockchain is nearly doubled – from 579.9 billion Korean won to 1.040 trillion Korean won.

With Week 1 ending, I've noticed a couple things and have made updates to the rules.
I appreciate the update to the rules; they make more sense now.

I can also confirm that I've received the first week payment.

Great campaign so far. Glad to be a part of it.
451  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it wise to invest in Bitcoin? on: August 16, 2018, 10:35:04 AM
@OP if you are just copy pasting, yes you have that reference but put exactly the link on where you copied it.
It doesn't look like copy pasting, but it's poorly written - so much is for sure. It says nothing about investing and why it would be wise to invest in bitcoin. Not that we need more posts on this subject, but the OP has failed to deliver on the topic title.

According to Wikipedia Bitcoind was inaugurated on January 3, 2009, with a total of 21 million bitcoins.

It sounds like all the 21 million bitcoins were minted in 2009, which is not true.

Quote from: balonkuning
Is using digital currency or bitcoin safe? According to Wikipedia bitcoin, it is used to refer to namacryptocurrency. The rate or price of bitcoin is very clear by the "mining" mining price

CONCLUSION

Bitcoin investment or investment as is and yield. If you use information from the company. Decision of conscious education (increase education) and experience.

You should edit this part because I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to say.
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitmain is Hodling Nearly $600 Million in Bitcoin Cash on: August 15, 2018, 11:05:27 AM
You are correct. it will be interesting to see that if and when they decide to do so. A lot of BCH coins are concentrated in the hands of several big whales. They can't dump their coins at once because the price will plummet. They can't sell over time, because their addresses are public knowledge and they are monitored by other BCH traders who know what they are doing. I think that the future BCH price movement critically depends on the behavior of these big holders.

You're right. Any idea who some of the other whales are? I've been doing a bit of research around it but only found Bitmain so far.

Here you go, a medium post from Mar. 1, maybe something has changed in the meantime

Quote
Bitmain’s BCH Sales Wallet — This wallet currently controls 2.6% of all BCH (includes non-circulating coins) with almost 441k BCH and, more importantly, have never spent a single coin. We’ll address this wallet more in detail below, but this should confirm / show that Bitmain is a revenue generating machine if they can just sit on such a huge cache of unspent coins. To put this amount in perspective, this wallet has 3x the amount of BCH of Bitfinex’ BCH cold wallet.

Unknown BCH Mining Wallet #1” — Almost definitely ViaBTC or Antpool, this wallet started mining on BCH’s first day (8/1/2017) and currently controls 0.28% of all BCH with 47,421 BCH. This wallet has also never spent a single coin.

Unknown BCH Mining Wallet #2 — Also, almost definitely ViaBTC or Antpool, this wallet controls the 8th most BCH with 0.52% or 88,855 BCH and also hasn’t spent a single coin.

Unknown Wallet — A newer BCH wallet that isn’t a miner wallet and appears to be some kind of sales wallet. This wallet currently controls 78.5k BCH and, yet again, hasn’t sold a single coin. It’s very possible this is Bitmain’s new wallet to replace #1.

Read the entire medium post. You will not be disappointed.
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Real (BTCr) is really upcoming BTC hardfork? on: August 15, 2018, 10:48:31 AM
All these forks look alike. A lot of hype at first, followed by a huge dumb next. You don't have to look hard. Just follow the fate of Bitcoin Private, one of the last BTC forks. I would never suggest anyone to spend money on a fork like that. But if you really believe in the project, if you really have faith in the team and their vision, wait until the hype is over and then invest in it. That said, do you know why are they forking? If there is no new idea, no plan, no real roadmap, that will answer your questions. We don't need another form of digital money, there are already too many.
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cardano wants to destroy ETH on: August 14, 2018, 03:05:30 PM
The Ethereum team, including its leader, have a history of taking things too lightly. So when someone points out at inconsistencies and details they tend to become nervous. Their Casper protocol is advertised all the time, but the implementation is being delayed over and over again. Hoskinson has every right to be pedantry in rebutting the whitepaper, because if the ETH protocol is flawed, a lot of money will be at stake.
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia Turing Gpus. on: August 14, 2018, 02:13:00 PM
Pretty damn good cards for ray-tracing and virtual reality simulations. The Quadro RTX cards are too expensive to even think about using them in mining. The corresponding lower end cards (1180 Ti or 1180) will also be pretty expensive. I hope that the prices won't be in the announced range between $1K and $1.5K. Because if the situation with the bearish market remains as it is now even if the speed gain is 50% these cards are still too expensive to be used in profitable mining. The only good thing could be that the prices of the older Pascal and Maxwell series will go down.

457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Airdrops vs Bounties vs Signature Campaigns ... some questions on: August 12, 2018, 01:25:34 PM
thank you.
your answers was realy helpfull for me.
There is another minor detail with respect to bounty campaigns that may be easily overlooked. Try to find out whether or not the campaign requires of you to do KYC before receiving your reward. KYC means "know your customer" and represents a process of verifying your identity. Some people are OK with this, others are not. If you value your privacy, you might want to skip campaigns that require KYC.
458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Airdrops vs Bounties vs Signature Campaigns ... some questions on: August 11, 2018, 05:07:33 PM
* Is there a sticky explaining the differences of airdrops vs bounties vs signature campaigns?
IMO, airdrops are not really worth it. Even if you get a couple of dollars worth of coins, you have to move them to an exchange, trade them there, and withdraw them from the exchange. Each of these steps costs money, so at the end, you are left with next to nothing.

Signature campaign is a special type of bounty. You can also have content creation bounty, twitter and facebook bounty, and other types. In terms of earnings, signature campaigns are usually among the most lucrative, but that is not a strict rule. You can participate in bounties where content creation bounty could bring you more than signature campaign bounty.

* Do they favor my status (Jr Member I think I am) ... I know that higher statuses earn more at this point

The majority of campaigns favor your status, yes.

* Can you participate in more than one?

Only ONE signature campaign. But you can participate in several bounty campaigns of other types.

* If you post here everyday as a habit, what's the level of extra effort involved in participating in bounties and signature campaigns?
If you are in a signature campaign, the effort has to do with making meaningful and helpful posts for the community. Some campaigns have a minimum character limit per post, others accept posts only in certain boards.

I'm sure you will find your way around the forum once you engage in these campaigns.

Make sure you read the rules of the campaign thoroughly. I can't tell you how many participants fail to even read the campaign's OP before taking part in it.

Good luck.
459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Unprofitable - What next? on: August 11, 2018, 04:24:00 PM
GPU mining has certainly become unprofitable, at least for the time being. Has anybody looked into Bitmain's Equihash Antminer? It looks profitable to me, but how long it will remain profitable that is another question. Not to mention the noise, you can't mine at home. What do you think is it worth it?
460  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [Instructions] Trading on Bitmex on: August 11, 2018, 03:04:16 PM
Thanks for this introduction into Bitmex trading even though it's not my cup of tea. Too risky for my taste, too much like gambling.

A couple of quick questions:

Quote from: kirreev070
First of all, a large choice of the size of the leverage. Available options are x1, x2, x3, x5, x10, x25, x50, x100. I would recommend using x5, x10 or x25.
If you stay at x1, does it work like any other normal exchange?

Quote from: kirreev070
In order to replenish your account, you will need to go to the "Account" section and select "Deposit" in it. The minimum deposit amount is 0.0001 XBT.
What's this XBT symbol? Is it their internal currency, or it has any other meaning?

Are there limitations in terms of citizenship, or everyone is allowed to trade?
