I didn't have any issues last summer with a 4xRX570 rig, just try and make sure the room is ventilated properly. As others have also mentioned the algo can make a big difference, my rig runs much cooler mining cryptonight coins.

My 5x RX570 rig has been very stable recently, running for around 3 weeks without any issues

Been on v11.4 for a few weeks now and it's been very stable with very little stale shares, will try out the newest v11.6 soon.

It's still worth it but in terms of buying new hardware right now it may be best to wait. It depends really on how much spare funds you can invest, another important aspect is if it will work out better just buying coins at the moment when the prices are relatively low.

|
|
It's still profitable but you just need to change your thinking to long term and try and accumulate more coins of projects you think have the most potential in terms of adoption, usability and uniqueness.

Were still at a 330b MC, if you had said we'd be here now a few months back you would be very happy.
There's a lot of negative sentiment towards the price these days but if you believe in the technology and only invested what you can afford to lose then the short term shouldn't matter.

Just switched to 11.4 from 11.0, seeing a better hashrate 138 vs 135 with 5x RX570.
Has anyone tested to see if there is much increase in power usage at the wall with the newest version?

We're still sitting around a 400billion MC, if you asked anyone in October would they be happy with that size right now and they would be delighted with it (it's over double since then).
I wouldn't call this much of a bear market more of how the crypto cycle goes. Hopefully we will see new ath's this year but it's hard to tell what way it will go as a lot of confidence has gone from new investors.

Thanks for the replies, I'm using 5x RX 570, I'll look into getting the HDMI dummy plug, it's just strange that I didn't experience this issue before this update using Win 10 with the same setup.

|
|
Looks like this may be an issue specific to Win 10 so the current alternatives would be to install Win 7/8 or Linux, does anyone have any other ideas to avoid this?

I disabled mine and it updated overnight by itself, had to re-install the blockchain drivers and now my primary GPU has 0 mh/s unless I connect a monitor
|
|
|
Just wondering if anyone else has seen the above behavior when mining Eth using Claymores software?
When I connect a monitor GPU0 works as normal but when removed it goes to 0.
Any suggestions appreciated, I have already reinstalled the graphics drivers.
Thanks in advance!

If the electricity cost is that high it may just be better to buy and hold coins rather than mine.
If you really want to mine use a low power usage algo such as CryptoNight.

Yes it possible people who bought near the top could be waiting a while for it to reach that level again but if you look at last years performance there were several alt runs and each time new all time highs for most coins.
The real question is if the market can perform anywhere like last year again.

It really depends on how much you can invest into new hardware. There will always be different coins to mine but it will be difficult to keep a consistent income if your not working, in the long run it could work out very profitable but its the uncertainty that's the issue when it would be your main source of income.
If you have enough spare money to fund it then it's worth a try to see how it goes as long as you'd be able to get a job again if it fails.

I don't see it changing much for the next while, still plenty of algos/coins that are profitable and there doesn't seem to be any concrete info on a bitmain Ethash miner.

Just make sure to always check the url in your browser and preferably use a hardware wallet so your private key is stored externally on the device.

I'm sticking with Eth as I think it has the most potential in the long term and is stable.
If/When it goes to POS i'll start looking at alternatives but it's still currently the most profitable to mine on whattomine for my rig.

I think it has a good future, low supply and good innovative features like DeepVault to validate a file's authenticity through it's hash value stored on the blockchain. It's also cool that you can spend your Onions to buy merchandise on https://deeponion.shop/
