Something like this:

Have you seen a reddcoin? I don;t see how it would even be possible to mold.

Obviously it would have to be round Tongue

Would there be interest in a physical Reddcoin?

Yes! Allow Redd and PayPal purchases! I don't want to spend my Redd!

Do you think I should go for 1oz silver coins, or cheaper brass coins?
1oz silver could be sold at cryoto equivalent of $90, while brass could go for $60 (not including loaded coin value)
I could arrange for a limited, numbered mintage of 100 to be sold (I could take reservations, could be out in maby 7 weeks)
let me know below which (if either) you might be interested in.

Looks like its out of a textbook. 4 peaks in a month, PoSV 5 days away, right on schedule to be around the next peak. I estimate it will top out at 70-110 Satoshi within 10 days (and of-course continue growth after that...)

Like your idea on the 1 oz gold wallet, maybe even a short run of these unless you get your usual tsunami of orders Smiley

We were thinking of doing a short run, the cost over spot is absurd though. To make it even worth while we would have to do at least 50.

I believe Titan BTC is charging about $450 over spot for their gold coin.  I would have loved to get one of those gold coins, but with the cost of 1 oz of gold at around $1300, and the markup of $450, plus the funded BTC, the cost became too rich for me.  Hoping you can do something to make the cost of your coin more affordable.

I don't think it will be very 'affordable' any time soon. In order to take premiums down, there needs to be a very large number minted. This means a huge investment of capital (imagine buying 500oz of gold to mint 500 coins...which you will need to keep reasonable premiums). Only when the market exists for 500 1oz gold coins to sell fairly quickly, will they be very well priced. I believe the day will come, but not yet.

I'm looking to gauge the interest on a 1oz Gold Wallet. Would anyone be interested in that?

Due to the cost of one ounce of Gold, I would personally prefer a 1/2 ounce.

I agree that this would likely do better in the market

We were moving offices and for some reason I peeled off the hologram of EVERY coin and redeemed the private keys I dont know why I did it. I may have been in a mood to condense my Bitcoin into 1 spot and I literally sat there for two goddam hours redeeming those coins.

Oh my.
I'm so sorry..

I know, if I hadn't done that, I could easily have sold those for 180 BTC total.

Goddam it

This is one of those stories for the ages that will be told for generations in your family, and be mentioned in history books about the coins.
1110  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Selling quality collectable Casascius coins........ on: July 28, 2014, 05:23:45 AM
hi, what's the gold content in the "gold" 25 btc coin?
iirc they are brass, gold plated.  the only gold coin from casascius was the 1000 btc 1 oz gold coin.
please specify.

also the blanks have the hologram stickers with address/priv key, please?

The 'gold' refers to the color. It is gold plated, but the value of that is negligible.

The blanks have no sticker on them at all, and that means no address or key.

I invite you to read the book about the coins linked in my signature Smiley

1113  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] MS-65 1 BTC 2011 Casascius Error Coin on: July 26, 2014, 10:41:30 AM
This one also sold, I bought it for 4.5 BTC plus the costs of insured shipping to ANACS ($29) & their grading fee ($...), which I organized for Scott and paid whilst in the States.

Woah; you are single-handedly bringing up the prices for these coins significantly.
You sure like your coins!

1115  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Ultra Rare 1BTC Silver-Gold Round /w "The Golden Heart" error! on: July 26, 2014, 06:20:50 AM
If you get this verified by Mike you could take to auction through Southeby's or something.

As far as the text conversation goes and Mike not calling it an obvious fake, I think it is enough for the community to accept this as a legitimate error. Granted, if after this sells another one magically appears on the market, that second coin would be under much, much greater scepticism and scrutiny.

As a self-proclaimed expert of this field, I fully endorse this particular coin and error as legitimate. While there is of course the small possibility of Bitmarket.io having made the mark intentionally, I see that as unlikely as being found out would destroy his reputation and he is well invested in these coins. Even if the mark was somehow proven to be fraudulent, I am confident that the coin would remain valued  significantly higher then its counterparts due to the specific history behind it.

+1.

I'll be happy to add a specific note for this coin on http://www.spotcoins.com/bitcoin/casascius

I think this is bringing up another dimension to these coins; ie, non-variety-differentiating errors/oddities/rarities. By that I mean that the error/oddity does not classify the coin as a new "variety", but it is nonetheless a noteworthy and interesting distinction. I'll likely catalog such instances under a new "known oddities" or "known rarities" sub-listing for each Casascius variety.

Very good point. A 1-off error such as this would not get its own page in my eBook (or future database) as a 'type' of coin produced by Casascius. I think an interesting comparison are the 5 1btc 2011 coins with first-bits printed higher then normal. I categorized them as their own type of coin because they were acknowledged by Mike in his blog, but something like this heart error I would not. I very much support your idea of creating a database of these on spotcoins.

Ok, from now on we agree to get people to spend Casascius coins like we try to get anyone to use BTC. None of us will set the example, of course, but keep the chatter to a minimum.

Great. See you all in 20 years when we're the only ones with these good coins left.

Hehe, I think the time for that has passed. It is important to realize that it DID happen; but they say, 'a month is years in Bitcoin'. When the coins came out, they were worth about $5 each and many people gave them as casual gifts, gave them to a friend in return for buying lunch, kept them in their wallet with other coins as a curiosity, etc. over half of some coins have been redeemed, mostly being done early on. That time is now passed, and what is left will only increase in value.

interestingly, this coin was actually founded in 2013. 260 were funded in 2013 while only 190 were in 2012
